Thank you Ladies! I was up in the middle of the night last night researching YAZ because I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I woke up shaky, heart racing, sweating. It just wouldn't go away. Almost got my daughter and husband up to take me to ER. Then I read all the entries in this blog and was convinced it was the BCP. I got into see a doc in the am. She wasn't my normal doctor, so all I wanted was an overall check. She did EKG, blood and just an overall check -Normal. However, I did have a high pulse. That fluctuates throughout the day anyway, but again it was fast even at rest into the next day. I asked her if YAZ was the cause for this and she said probably not because I was only on it for 1 week. I had switched from being on OrthoTriCyclen. I switched because of depression, long periods, bloating, cramping... I might as well had been on no BCP than OTC. The strange thing was I had been on OTC for 5 years prior to having my first child (3 years ago) and loved it! Which makes me think your body chemistry is always changing. Anyway, my first week on Yaz was MISERABLE! I had constipation, dry mouth, exessive urnation, deydrated eventhough drinking 8 glasses of H2O a day, shaky muscles, muscle fatigue, muscle cramping, low libido, sweating, hot at night, loss of appetite, feeling cloudy in the head- like I hadn't slept for a couple of days, but not tired and then finally the heart issue. I went off of it and I slept like a champ last night. I think I still must have some residual hormones in my body but am convinced it will go away in the next week or so. I wanted to mention at the doc's office when I asked her about the potassium increase that could happen with YAZ, she had no idea that was a side effect. So, she wanted to find out more and had a little book, like a mini phone book, full of all the drugs and their side effects. She got to the page and was astounded by the number of side effects for a BCP. It took up a whole page of the book. She told me she had not seen so many side effects for a BCP ever! I got my potassium checked and it turned out fine. But, if you do have muscle issues go get that checked, b/c potassium is a big component to muscle health. What is odd is sister is on YASMIN and loves it! as well as many of her friends. She told me I would have really sore breasts the first couple of months, but that was about it.

I had this injection for a slipped disk in my L5 lumbar spine. I am a healthy 31 year old female. I had hair growth and non stop periods. I had 4, 9 day periods in 2 months and I now have anemia and low sodium. After going to the gynecologist and running a bunch of tests on me, it has now been confirmed that only the Kenalog shot could have been responsible for this. They had to put me on birth control pills to stop this and now I have side effects from that too. From what I see others have had this side effect too and I believe this is much more than just a menstrual irregularity! I have also gained weight (15lbs) eventhough I was slender, eating very healthy, and exercising everyday. The doctors who gave me this shot said that it wouldn't affect me like other corticosteroids, but apparently they were very wrong. I am definitely letting the FDA know this.

My doctor subscribed doxycycline (100mg) once a day for 30 days. I completed the medication over a month ago, and eventhough it did a great job clearing up a skin infection, I'm still suffering from joint aches, particularly in my left foot and right knee. These mostly occur when I get up in the mornings and after I've been sitting for an extended period of time. Because I didn't have any of these aches before taking the medicine, I'm convinced this is a side effect resulting from the doxycycline.

Sorry, but it is me again.
Eventhough I made the 'demon' drug look bad with bad side effects, you have to look at the WHOLE picture with YOURSELF in it. Is this 'demon' drug going to help you? Are some of the side affects less problems then the one you are curing?
I had both my kidneys fail for some unkown reason. The Doctors never found out why. Today, I have my own kidneys because of the 'demon' drug. However, I lost other parts of me as 'side effects'. Was it worth it?? I keep telling myself it was, at the time they told me my kidneys were starting to work, it seemed like a good idea. Now after 2.5 years looking back, I guess it was a good decision. NOT ALL people have all of these problems from the'demon' drug. Everyone is unique.
Do you take chances with the Power Ball lottery? If so, you just have to take another chance, but this one is on LIFE.
God be with you all. Take care and DON'T give up.
Talk to you later

Two months ago, I was taking 150 mg's of wellbutrin xl, 2 and 3 times a day for ADD. I have severe ringing in my ears which I still have, eventhough I stopped taking it over a month ago. My dr. says it may never stop! It is driving me crazy! I wish I would have never taken it. ( It did nothing for my ADD)

I have been taking prednisone for a little more than 14 months for neurosarcoidosis: first round - 60mg for two weeks, 40mg for two weeks, 20mg for two weeks. Then I experienced a severe relapse. my doctor increase the dosage back to 60mg for about 2 months, then to 40mg for 2 months, then to 20mg for about 3 months, then reduced by 1mg a week to 10mg, then maintianed for three months. I am now taking 30mg every other day. I have experienced the following side effects: weight gain (30 pounds in 3 months, a size 6 to a size 14), abdomen swelling, right much hair loss, ugly mood swings, mild depression, increase urgency and frequency of urination, headaches, back pain in kidney area, sleep loss (at beginning and now at last dosage change), night sweats (at beginning), severe moon face, slight hearing loss, fatigue, and easy brusing. The weight gain slowed down once I reach the 20mg mark. I have reduced the abdomen swelling and reduced some of the weight. I still have a slight moon face. I believe out of all the side effects, the most hard to deal with has been the hair loss and the weight gain. These two areas are pretty important to a woman. Eventhough, this medication has subsided the symptoms from the illness, they have also caused some harsh responses. My family (husband and 8 yr old son) have also had to deal with the side effects. I wondered there got to be a better drug, with less side effects. And as of right now, we don't know the long term effects on other organs of the body, what other illnesses this drug could lead to. Please email back any responses.

I went to the ER 3 days ago with bad stomach pains. I've had mirena for a little over a year now. They told me I was pregnant. Then they did an ultrasaound and found out it was ectopic. They did surgery right away. I have always hated my iud, but now I am recovering from surgery because of it. The only good thing is that they took the iud out!!!
