I am 35 yrs. old and have been using inhaled steroids(albuterol, asmacort, vanceril, and Avair) for the past 16 years. I had noticed my eye vision deteriorating over the last 11 years. I was diagnost with and eye disease called kerataconis. i suspect a connection to my asthma medication use. I can only see effectivly with aid of special lense glasses, or hard contacts. I have since ceased use of Advair, and all inhalers , hoping to halt further progression, and the need for corneal trans plants. Too bad for me that Advair and the drug companies didnt fully do a better job warning the public 11 years ago when it could have made a difference.

ladies, i don't know about you but, i've been plagued by bacterial vaginosis everytime i had intercourse since i've been on yasmin. i tried to tell my doctor that i thought it was the pill but, he said there was no evidence that yasmin caused that at the time of my distress. NOW IT'S PRINTED ON THE SIDE EFFECTS LABEL AND I'M SO RELIEVED THAT I'M NOT A FREAK!!! yasmin gave me bacterial infections and made my sex life hell.

I don't think our doctors know any more than we do about this drug. It's up to us to research it ourselves. According to what I've read, there is no evidence that even taking it at all prevents fractures, and there is quite a bit of evidence that it is in fact harmful. What's more, the drug stays in your bones even after you stop taking it and has a half-life of 10 years, meaning that it takes 10 years for it to reach half it's potency!! This, plus the fact that the long-term effects of this drug are unknown!!

I have been taking Didronel, which is a weaker form of bisphosphonates for several years and was recently put on Fosomax because my bone density had gone lower according to the DXA test. I've now stopped taking it after having perused this forum, and reading an excellent book on the subject called "The Myth of Osteoporosis" by Gillian Sanson. All I can say is, I wish I'd read this material before taking any of these drugs.

A very interesting fact that our doctors do not tell us because presumably they are ignorant of it themselves, is that bone density itself is not a reliable indicator of fracture risk.

I've drawn the conslusion that our doctors are ill informed and we put our trust in them at our own (often considerable) risk.

Took Simvastin for two years, took off it by GP when I experienced severe pain in both legs, after over another year I am left with severe pain in the whole of my left leg and upper right thigh. After many visits to hospital both my GP and hospital are hoping I will stay away, both have refused to supply written evidence that the statin was the cause. My active life is in ruins. Is there any legal body in UK that are interested. If all the people on this site got together there would be a powerful body to get compensation, come on!! it has been done in USA. Brian Walder.

STOP TAKING THIS PILL NOW AND PRINT OUT THIS WEBSITE AND SHOW TO YOUR OBGYN!!!!!! That is what I plan on doing on Fri. I am 27 yrs. old and have been on Yasmin for 2 yrs. Until I found this website, I thought that there was something seriously wrong with me and there is- This UNSAFE BIRTH CONTROL PILL. Over the past year I have experienced terrible panic attacks, anxiety, not to mention what I thought was colitis...daily stomach cramps, gas and diahrea, terrible nausea in the days directly following my last pill in my pack, heart palipitations, 5 UTI's in the past year, and about 7 yeasties, you name it. I began to suspect it was the yasmin recently when I realized that I have never experienced any of these problems before in my life, I was always healthy and happyand I was not taking any other medications. This is the only drug that I have been pumping into my body daily. It may as well have been poison at this point. I feel as if a lot of my life in the past year has been taken form me and it really pisses me off that they get away with marketing and selling this pill. It is important to give this evidence to your doctor when you go to see them. Do not let them tell you that it "may not be the right pill for you" It is not the right pill for anyone!!!! My very good friend began taking yasmin 5 months ago and in the last 4 mos. has had terrible migranes to the point where she has gone to see a neurologist. These pharm. companies just want to make money...they send reps out to doctor's offices and sing its praises and so doctors are none the wiser until we start to show them evidence that this pill is dangerous...doctors have other doctor friends that they will share this information with and so on and so on. If the FDA will not take it off the market, the doctors will at least stop perscribing it. Don't let others suffer as we have...

My 18 year old daughter had been on Yasmin for about 5 weeks. Yesterday we spent 5 hours in the emergency room due to a blood clot in her leg - a potential side effect of all birth control pills. I am not blaming Yasmin because I have no evidence that is has a higher risk than any other. But I write this as a warning to anyone else on the pill to be aware of this potentially deadly side effect. for your own safety, find out the warning signs so that if it should happen to you, ou can react quickly. We were lucky. Several days of intravenous blood thinning medications and 6 months of blood thinning pills. And no more hormones for the rest of her life. But still I count us lucky. I felt I had to share this with others.
Thank you.

I've been taking Advair for a couple of months for allergy-induced asthma. Have been working out like a fiend and watching my diet yet have gained 30+ lbs. Also find that my voice has changed (it cracks sometimes now when I speak), and my anxiety--a problem from before I went on Advair--has worsened. My bones ache at night, and I am (was) a healthy, fit 30 year old who has never had such aches in her life. But I can breathe so darn well!! All of these posts are amazing evidence that Advair is, at best, good for for the short-term and (potentially) dangerous in the long-run. Are there other, safer, options out there? What have the rest of you done when you've gone off Advair?

Upon recovering from a sinus infection, the ltreatment for which included Nasacort, I had lost my sense of smell and have been diagnosed with anosmia. Although many cases of anosmia have been dianosed after a sinus infection, is there any evidence that nasacort contributes in anyway to the anosmia? Thank you
