Have had skin excema most of my life on and off and just dealt with it with various ointments and such. To make a long story short I went to an emergency room one night about 9 months ago with a bad headache and instead of them dealing with just the headache they obsessed over my rash which is worse on my lower right leg. I was prescribed prednisone along with some antibiotic and not realizing what prednisone can do i took the 5 day plan. I knew immediately I was going to have problems as I was definitely on some kind of powerful stimulant. Anyway that was 9 months ago and I seem to have exchanged my excema for a permanent case of the type of hives that is worse at night before bed and is aggravated by any pressure on my skin. I do mechanical work and if I squeeze a screwdriver or bang on something with my hands they will swell and itch and my fingers will not bend very well. When I feel a slight itching in my hair or around my neck I also will have a slight headache. The hives can appear on my back or thighs or arms or belly at different times usually. Stress doesn't help either. By the way I am 60 and never had hives that I recall ever.

I am a 50 year old woman and have been taking Lipitor for about the last 6 months. I have developed a severe case of eczema on my scalp as well as hair loss. Also I have been having pain in my hips. I never would have attributed my symptoms to Lipitor, but now I am thinking that maybe Lipitor is the cause of them. Also I read in some of the comments that it may be connected to memory loss. I have noticed I have a hard time remembering things too but never thought it could be related to taking Lipitor.

I am 21 years old and I was on Yasmin for three in a half months (i stopped the last pack half way through). The first month i was on it, i had a lot of leg pains especially at night and sometimes to the point where i couldn't sleep. I went to the doctors and told her about this and she said it had nothing to do with the pill. My leg pain stopped after the first month i was on it and for two months i was fine. At the end of the third pack i began to get leg cramps again, but this time it was different i had little sharp pains here and there and tingling and my legs became extremely itchy. In the matter of two months i got spider veins and cellulite on my upper legs. Before the pill i had NOTHING on my legs. I searched the internet and found that birth control can cause spider veins because of the hormonal change so I thought my legs were itchy because of the spider veins so i stopped using the pill and made a doctors appointment. Three days after stopping i got my period for the second time that month. I also broke out with lumps that are red and extremely itchy. The doctor told me that the bumps are eczema and i also have a lymph node, which she said is from the eczema (which i find very strange). Two days after i broke out and got a lymph node, i got sick with a fever, extremely soar throat and a swollen neck. Today is my 7th day off the pill and im still sick. Hopefully i get better. But from being a 21 year old whos 95 pounds and having nothing wrong and starting this pill and getting spider veins, cellulite and then eczema all around the same time, i feel like im aging before my time. If anyone else has had any similar effects please let me know. Thank you.

Day 21 on Welbutrin XL 150 mg. - prescribed to help stop (light) smoking habit & for depression. I loved it - smoking urges not nearly as strong, more energy, very few emotional outbursts & general sense of calm, happiness & well-being. I haven't felt this good for 4 years. Have tried other meds in past but quit due to weight gain & sexual side-effects. Yesterday I developed HIVES. Damn. Saw nurse practitioner today. She wants me to switch to Lexapro. Told me to start w/ 1/2 a tab @ bedtime tonight. AAaaarrrgh! Anyone have any experience w/ Lexapro?

I started taking 20mg Lipitor 10 years ago, when I was 53 yrs old, as I had a heart attack from unstable agina and high cholestrol. For most of this time I have suffered aches and pains, excema on my hip and stomach areas and severe leg cramps. For the past 12 months I have felt lethargic, in a 'switched off and isoloated'' frame of mind with painful hand joints and foot swelling. My eyesight has deteriorated quickly and I feel plain OLD!! After reading other people's experiences I am going to stop taking lipitor/statins immediately and monitor any change carefuly.

I have been taking Lipitor 20 mg for 4 months. Six to eight weeks ago I developed exema, allergic conjunctivitis and burning/swelling of my lips. I saw a PA at my doctor's office today and we are stopping Lipitor for 10 days to see if it is the culprit. Has anyone else experienced these problems while taking Lipitor?

My GP put me on Advair in the summer of 2006 because I was having trouble with so much phlegm in my throat and losing my voice by using Combivent. I also have a weakened voice as a result of asthma medication. For the first three weeks the Advair was great. Then one weekend at our cabin, I had a severe asthma attack -- to the point that my husband wanted to pack up and drive an hour to an hospital emergency ward. I thought it was from something in the cabin or in the air. As a result of some research on Advair, I truly believe that it was from taking this medication. Not realizing this, I have continued to take Advair at the advice of my GP. I then noticed that my skin was very itchy, mostly on my legs at that time. My GP said it was excema. It started spreading to my hands, wrists, elbows. I started reading about the side effects of Advair -- from the insert that comes with the discus -- itchy skin is one of the side effects listed. In December 2006, I went to the lung specialist that has been treating me for asthma for several years. I asked him about the itching and mess on my wrists, etc. He indicated that it was excema and not a reaction to the Advair -- and proceeded to write me a presription for more Advair. In January 2007, I went back to my GP because I couldn't stand the itching and red blotches anymore. She wouldn't give me anything to relieve it, but sent me to an allergist. I asked him about the mess my skin was in and he told me that it was very rare that someone would react to Advair in this manner and he didn't think that was the cause. He decided that I was allergic to dog and cat dander. Just the other day I was finally sent to a dermatologist. She was appalled at the condition of my skin, as the ithing and redness had now started to spread to my upper arms, under arms, breasts and stomach area. I took some research about Advair with me to this appointment. She has now taken me off the Advair for a two week trial and given me an ointment help with the healing. Finally, a specialist that really might think the Advair is the cause of this itching all over my body. I sure hope that these doctors will realize that I really have an adverse reaction to Advair and will find another medicaiton that will be suitable, but not cause the problems I am having now. my voice is still strained, but I am sure as the Advair leaves my system, this will improve too.

In order to treat my excema my dermotologist insisted that i should have a kenalog shot. I asked him for the worst side effect and he respomed with "it can get worse". okay, its already bad, why not try it. 2 months later I have a huge indentation on my lower back. It measures 5 1'2 inches wide and it seems to be getting worse. He has no idea whats going on and he has never seen an indention as bad as mine. I WILL NEVER HAVE THIS SHOT AGAIN. OR HaVE ANY OF MY LOVED ONES!!

Side effect, NONE. i have had this shot for excema for the past 20 years. My dermatologist died last winter, and I cannot find someone to give me this shot. I have had NO adverse reactions to this shot and no doctor will give it to me. I have excema all over my body and the new doctor gave me a cream that i have to apply to the 'effected area' 4 times a day. I just dont see how i could strip down 4 times a day to apply it to my whole body when all I need is this shot ONCE a year.
I am sorry for those who had a side effect.

There is hope for those of you with an indentation! I had an injection for severe excema, I was literally scratching my eyes out. I received a Kenalog Injection in Oct/Nov, by January I had a golf-ball sized indentation on my right bum cheek. I was devastated! It was quite noticeable, even in clothing, as I am quite petite. I was given little hope from my dermatologist, he had only seen it twice before, one corrected itself, the other still had a dent. After a year I guess, I decided to take experiment, I increased my intake of Omega Fatty Acids, and Protein. And since it was it is fat that has wasted, I tried not to excercise my glutes. Within only a couple of months I noticed a huge difference.
I don't know if it was diet, or just the waiting it out, but my dent is almost completely gone. If you've had this same reaction, try not to stress out there .... there is hope!

Since going on Effexor 3 years ago, I have had similar side effects, as well as withdrawal symptoms when trying to go off the drug. My symptoms while on it are: night sweats, being hot all the time (sweaty hands and feet), rashes all over, excema on my scalp and neck, "lightning flash" type feelings in my brain/head, extreme depression, an inability to feel intimacy (although no sex drive problems), extreme weight gain (despite frequent exercise and good diet). During my pre-menstrual period, I am pretty much psychotic, to the point of wanting to hurt myself and others. With the weight gain and depression, I really AM better off not taking the drug. But I find it impossible to take two weeks off work to simply stop taking a drug. It is not possible to stop taking effexor and work or function in ANY CAPACITY. I really feel for the moms out there who have had to do it. One other thing I have been experiencing is severe joint pain. I would like to know if others have experienced this.

I have two children who were both prescribed Omnicef for bronchitis/sinus infections. My four year old began complaining within hours of severe stomache cramping and vomited followed the next morning by HUGE(golf ball and larger) hives all over her body(worse on her hands and feet) We stopped it immediately and swithched antibiotics. My 2 year old had already been on for a few days and had become very cranky, pacing back and forth, crying, mean, hitting, and repeating himself over and over. He was unable to sleep at night and developed what the doctor called excema mostly on his face and scalp. He completed the med yesteday and today broke out in full body hives (not as big as my daughters but very itchy and more severe around his eyes, hands and bottom. I was amazed that these side effect are supposedly not common but my two children who have both been on several different antibiotics for ear infections have never had any reaction. No more Omnicef at my house!!!!!

I have had constant dry eyes since on this pill, dry skin, and rashes on my hands/face. Did anyone else notice this too? All the other symptoms disappeared after 3 packs on the pill, but these dry eyes. Since I have another eye condition this could be a problem.
Thanks

I began taking advair October 2003 after the first case of brochitus in 20 years. I also turned 50 that year. I was asthmatic as a child, but had few occurences of wheezing during adulthood that I could remember in years. Always kept an Albuteral inhaler on hand just in case as some animals, smoky rooms, too much laughing, etc. could trigger the wheezing. Nothing I couldn't control with an inhaler and had never been hospitalized. Have always had allergies, excema but conrolled with Zyrtec and topical steriods.
I was 117 lbs. I would always gain 5 to 10 lbs. but could always bring it down when it was getting out of control. Occasional walking was my only exercise.
Within months, I started bleeding under the skin on my forearms. Only the top side. A bump made a large bruise, more like a dark purple spot. But most of the spots now are from the size of a dime to 2 inches in diameter. They start out deep red or purple, then fade as it is absorbed, which took a couple of weeks. But by then, I would have more. If I scratched gently due to excema it was a mess. I would wake up in the morning with more patches. Recently, it has started moving up past my elbow.
It has puzzled my dermatologist. The GP who prescribed Advair was not too concerned - I think he figures I'm the result of domestic violence. However, when I went to see him 2 months ago, my blood pressure was high and he wanted me to take blood pressure medicine. I had also gained 20 lbs. My blood work was fine.
I didn't even question the Advair until a couple of days ago. Why should I? My GP said it is the way to treat asthma now, before you get an attack. I felt it was a wonder drug - I haven't used an inhaler in over a 1-1/2 years. Over the last year I have tried eliminating anything I could think of that was causing this abnormal underskin bleeding. No aspirin, vitamins, sulfites, it goes on and on. It is like you can almost tear my skin.
Last week I broke a blood vessel in the white of my eye. The body is absorbing , but is this just a conincidence? I feel like my capilaries are disolving.
I'm not happy with the professional care I'm receiving from 2 difference doctors.
Stopped Advair 2 days ago. Anyone have this strange skin problem?

Had Kenalog injection in my hip for excema on my palm. The only side effects were stomach ache for 2 days and fatigue for a week. My hand cleared up within 3 days. No indentations or discoloration. My doctor told me my menstrual cycle would probably be affected, but didn't inform me of any other possible side effects. I think he shoud have!

My 16 month old daughter has asthma and allergies, runny nose and eyes, and excema.
Her Dr put her on Singulair, what a nightmare.
She took it the FIRST night and was babbling out of her mind, had her temp shoot up to 104, and the next day had tremors.
She has been really cranky and hasn't eaten a thing since then, which was 4 nights ago.
I did not give it back to her. SAVE YOUR KIDS, leave this drug alone!

Unfortunately I found this website years too late but maybe my entry will help someone else and prevent them from the misery and altered life that I now have.
I am 38 years old and I have had excema since I was a small child. When I was in my early 20's my Doctor prescribed for me what I thought was a miricle drug. I live in Atlanta and in the hot and humid months I couldn't stay outside in the heat or I would develop a severe rash from the excema on the insides of my legs. Once I started using the medication the doctor prescribed my rash would disapear. It was actually regular lotion that had Triamcinolone AKA kENALOG injected into the bottle. I would use it each time I got out of the shower while I was still wet per my doctors instructions which just made it get into my skin even more. The bottle had no warning label and needless to say over a short period of time I begin to develop stretch marks on the insides of my upper thighs. I was newly married and very embarrased and had no clue that it was caused by the lotion that I was prescribed. I hid it for a while thinking that I was just getting overweight and that was causing the marks but the damage was already done. In a short period of time the marks were down to my knee and spreading to the inside of my calfs. The stretch marks are 3/4 of an inch wide and some of them are 9 and 10 inches long and dark purple. I went to doctor after doctor and had test after test just not my dermatoligist tryiing to find out what was wrong with me and when I realized that it was the lotion I was just horrified. I went into a shell and had a very difficult time dealing with it. I couldn't talk about it or show anyone my legs. I thought I was a FREAK. Needless to say I waited too long to pursue a medical malpractice against the doctor but it has altered my life greatly. I don't go out in public in shorts or even a skirt. I can't go to the beach or anywhere in public in a bathing suit because I am so self consious about my legs. I have a wonderful husband and fortunately he loves me for me and not my looks but I can't tell you that it has not altered his life as well. My children don't understand why their mom doesn't wear shorts and things like other moms.
This drug has altered and changed my life in almost every aspect pysically and emotionally and I will never be the same but hopefully my story will prevent someone else from having to deal with all the pain and misery that I have had. I was told I was past the statue of limitations in Georgia to pursue anything legally so hopefully I can help you on a personal leval before this happens to you. DON'T USE KENALOG OR ANY TOPICAL FORM OF IT!! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or if I can help you in anyway.

I have been on ortho-tri-cyclen for about 6 years with regular side effects - weight gain, sore swelling breasts, but nothing i couldn't stand to have a regular (and short) period. HOWEVER, my gyno switched me to YASMIN so I went immediately after finishing a month of ORTHO and I thought it was just the switch that made me feel weird.
I AM NOT a HYPERSENSITIVE person this pill made me feel emotional, psycho, my breasts got gigantic...so I finished the one month then took a break from BCP all together for 5 months.
I JUST WENT BACK TO YASMIN after 7 days my ENTIRE TORSO is broken out in some sort of funky EXCEMA, with blotches everywhere. Going back on the pill was the only thing out of my ordinary, no new skin care, etc. I stopped taking it when I began to rule out my options so that was about 13 days into the pill. I started bleeding (that brown stuff) about 4 days later.
IS IT NORMAL to start bleeding after stopping the pill mid-way through? Will that bring it on?
Needless to say I had a 6 month supply of Yasmin in my closet and they are ALL in the garbage now.

My skin became terrible with this pill. I have never taken the pill before and have always had clear skin however with yasmin I broke out in some wierd excema around my eye area. Also, extreme breast tenderness, moodiness, and generally not feeling myself. I have also been spotting for 21 days straight. This was a horrible experience and thank god its over now. Im never taking this pill again.

I have taken prednisone a few times over the years, for excema, the last time being 3 years ago when I had a severe case. After a 5 month course of the drug, I had gained 15 pounds, lost all my sex drive, and was quite depressed. I'm not sure I can blame prednisone now, after 3 years, but I still haven't returned to my old self.

I had my kenalog injection over a week ago. The winds here in the desert have been horrible this year and i was experiencing a daily sinus headache and my allergies were beyond what a claritin, allegra and a sudafed combined could combat. Within a day of getting an injection in right butt cheek area all of my sinus problems have ceased. Day three i stopped taking all of my medications for my allergies. I was also able to stop taking an anti inflammatory for my knee and the arches of my feet. They have never felt so good. My excema and asthma symptoms although mild have also cleared up. On the down side. I seem to be eating like a horse, insomnia and wild dreams seem to be plaguing me. But this is also the case when i take prednisone. I had this shot a few years back for the knee and foot arch pain and back then before my hysterectomy i did experience break through bleeding on my birth control pills a week early and very heavy. i decided that was the worse of my side effects back then. now that i wasn't able to have that problem i figured lets go for it again since i recall my sinuses clearing last time too, which was a bonus side effect for me then. overall i have found the positive effects definitely outweigh the negative effects for me.
