I have been using Yasmin for almost 10 years. Recently I have began getting migraines (never had them before), nasty vaginal discharge and an embarrassing increase in facial hair. I can somewhat deal with the migraines, but the other two symptoms are extremely irritating.
I have been to my gyno for both. She told me that the discharge was "normal" with the use of Yasmin. I don't think snotty goo coming from your vagina for a straight week before your period is "normal". She assured me that all testing came back negative and it was just something I would have to deal with. As far as the facial hair goes...I can't leave the house without standing in front of a mirror and plucking my poor chin and neck for up to an hour each day. My gyno suggested that I get laser treatment, which would be grand if SHE were paying for it.
I don't know if I want to continue taking Yasmin or not. I have ovarian cysts and used to have severe periods lasting for a week and a half at a time, and Yasmin had helped with those problems.
Has anyone else had these problems...and what are you doing for them?

I switched to Yasmin recently due to minor side effects caused by my previous BCP: Ortho Novum 777 (weight gain, acne, decreased sex drive, excess hair). I've been on Yasmin for 3 weeks now, and so far, no side effects. I've lost a little weight (mostly water), my skin has cleared up completely, and my sex drive is back to normal. So to those that are alarmed by the horrible side-effects listed on this website, don't panic because Yasmin can work wonders for some of us.

I've been on Yasmin for close to two years now and started experiencing unpleasant side effects six months ago. Side effects include nausea, vomiting, stomach tenderness, breast tenderness, severe diarrhea and severe gas. I've been on other birth control pills such as Ortho Tri-cyclen and Allesse but they did not control my acne and made me gain a lot more weight, even when I took them in conjunction with Spironilactone. I also noticed my moods are much better on Yasmin, but the diarrhea and gas have gotten out of control. I spoke with my gyn about this and since I've been diagnosed with PCOS, she told me this is the only pill out there that will take care of the acne and excess hair. When I told her about the gas and diarrhea she looked at me like I was crazy. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one out there experiencing unusual side effects and I'm absolutely certain now that the Yasmin is causing it. The only problem is I don't know what other pill to switch to that will clear my skin up, regulate my moods, not let me gain too much weight and not interfere with sexual activity. Any suggestions?

I was diagnosed with PCOS after having its symptoms for 10 years.. For a couple of years those symptoms gradually started to get worse - hirsutism (hair around the mouth, on the chin, around the nipples), and the adult acne that wasn't going away despite any medication. And i started becoming really depressed because of that.
-- By winner | Reply | Private Message meThe ultrasound and blood tests confirmed the PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and the extremely high levels of testosterone in the blood (result of pcos). I also had abnormal period - sometimes missing a month, sometimes having it 2-3 times a month. The physician told me that it was bleeding and that I'm not ovulating. She prescribed me Yaz - said it's the lowest-dosage bc pill, said it will lower my testosterone, raise estrogen, get me rid of excess hair and acne.
After a week of Yaz, i started feeling even more depressed than usual - started having nightmares, feeling very tired most of the time. Today was the end of the second week, and I am stopping taking Yaz, for good. Yesterday, I could hardly walk a mile - so extremely tired I felt. This morning - could hardly walk to the second floor. And, all day, felt extremely vulnerable, weak, and very very depressed: I started crying just looking at the gray sky, and couldn't stop. I barely got home, because I felt extreme fatigue, and burst into tears, blaming everyone around on how unhappy I am. Now I know, it's the Yaz talking... I am 26, and I am stopping this pill NOW. For my PCOS, I'm hoping to get better results with alternative herbal treatment and acupuncture.
