Had the Mirena for 4 years now. Started great but after about a year weird symptoms appeared. Headaches, excessive weight gain, depression, anioxity, eye twitching, right side cramping. I wanted it out and guess what - its stuck in there. They tried twice now to remove it and it won't budge. I am livid. Now its surgery or leave it there. Of course there are those huge risks if they do surgery. I am asking more questions Tuesday but if this was my young daughter I would be livid. I would not recommend this for anyone, especially if you want more children!

I had the Mirena put in 6 months ago. Since that time I have experienced waves of nausea, heart palpitations, excessive weight gain, depression, moody, foggy thinking, no sex drive, continual bleeding and more aches and pains than I can shake a stick at.
I spent 5 hrs in the hospital yesterday after having heart palpitations and thinking I was going to die. I have a heart time breathing as well.
I asked my ob/gyn to remove it but she talked me out of it. I finally had enough and don't care about those with "well meaning" advice. I'm getting it taken out tomorrow and tell every women I know stay as far from the Mirena as possible.
I'm so glad there are these sites to share experiences with other women, it makes you feel as those you aren't alone. The pharmaceutical companies should be held accountable for what the Mirena has done to women.

I have had my mirena for about 9 months now. I thought it was great at first. I moved away from my family to be with my fiance and ever since then I have had such bad anxiety, depression, mood swings like crazy, very low sex drive and bad acne like I never had before. My skin was always very clear. I always have had depression and anxiety but never this bad. I just feel like I hate the world! I thought that it was just that I was homesick and taking it out on my fiance until I had stumbled across this sight. The only thing is that I am not having pains anywhere or excessive weight gain although I am bloated and I look like I am 5 months pregnant. Now what I would like to know is if this is really all caused by the mirena or if it is all in my head? I have a 17 year old and an 11 year old and now I am living with his 3 kids and the last thing I want is to have this removed and find out that it was not the mirena that was giving me all these symptoms. Can someone please help me with some answered questions? Thank you so much!!

Has anyone experienced excessive weight gain using Januvia? About 13 months ago I started taking J. and I've not lost any weight since that time. I had Lap-band surgery 19 months ago lost 58 lbs the first 7 months, started the Januvia, had what I thought was Lap-band problems, gained a few pounds and the few pounds are now a plus 40. I've spoken to a pharmacist and he says there cannot be any connection to Januvia, however I've begun to question Januvia as the advertisements on TV state that Januvia has not been tested with insulin and I'm taking Lantus at night and Januvia in AM. Januvia can be used with insulin at the description of the Doctor???? I'm very concerned about myself and Januvia. Any comments 2bears

Wow I'm glad I stumbled across this page.
I only started taking Yasmin 1 month ago after switching from LevlenEd which I was on for 4 months. On LevlenEd I found I was developing a redness in the face (not acne but almost like rosacea) which is something very uncommon for me as I have always had very clear and even toned skin. After visiting the doctor he switched me to Yasmin - something about the different combination of hormones in the tablet and that this should clear things up. Well it hasn't. In fact I've experienced so many horrible side effects of the pill that I decided tonight that I'm just going to stop taking it all together. Side effects include:
Extreme emotions
Massive increase in appetite resulting in excessive weight gain
Lack of motivation
Tiredness
Skin redness and swelling of the pores
Hot flushes at night resulting in sweat break outs (usually I'm actually cold at night and never sweat)
Decrease in libido and dryness during sex
Puffiness in the skin and a hot feeling
Sensitive muscles all over - around the ribs, tummy, arms - just touching and they feel lightly bruised
I'm usually a very active and fit person but have just felt so lethargic on the pill. Combine this with an increase in appetite and I now have a task ahead of my to loose this excess weight that I have put back on after working it off for so many years.
Before taking the pill I generally did not take any medications at all.
I am particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have experienced the same skin conditions that I found when on the pill.
The funny thing is that my sister is on Yasmin and has had no problems at all.
The only plus was that my breasts went up a whole size! A great thing for me!!
My boyfriend is just going to have to deal with the change in how we manage birth control because the side effects I've experienced over the last 5 months are just ridiculous!

This is a weight of my shoulders.
I have been experiencing many of the symptoms that have been posted here and cannot begin to tell you what a relief it is that I'm not alone. I have been using the Nuvaring for 6 months. Some of the pros were convenience, larger breasts ( I went from a full C to a DD), and more lubrication. My side affects were extreme leg pain, excessive weight gain (about 30 pounds), increased appetite, fatigue, head aches, irritability, heart rate increase, dizziness, gas, bloating need I say more? Last night I took it out immediately because I finally put all the pieces together. It's amazing to know that I'm not alone in all of this. The weight gain was so fast that I have stretch marks that are extremely deep and I have belly fat for the first time in my life it has sprung right on my stomach. I'm only 19 so this is quit concerning for me... I went from 165 to 195. I have stayed around 165 for 5 years and the fact that I put on this thirty pounds was extremely concerning. I am grateful I know what's the issue, and hopefully with more energy and a decrease in appetite, I will be well on my way to my old self.

Hi. I was diagnosed yesterday with Bells Palsy, (the entire right side of my face is completely paralyzed) and given prednisone, a tapering dosage. I started my first dose of only 20 mgs last night and went to 60 mgs today, will keep on that dose tomorrow as well as one more day, taper down to 40 mg for two days, then 20 mgs for two days. My heart feels like it's going to beat out of my chest! I can feel it it's beating so hard and I can also hear it when lying down .Very freaky. My blood pressure today was 164/107. My normal bp is 110/70. I take medication for high blood pressure but it's not doing much good. I am also a diabetic and my sugar is whack! Had to increase my Metformin. I'm assuming since no one has died from taking this HORRIFIC medicine, we'll all live through it but at times, I feel like I am going to have a frigging massive panic attack! I have to calm myself down, listen to music, meditate. That does help some but not enough .I will be sooooooooo glad when I'm done taking this SH*T! Another thing I've noticed is I am bone weary weak, like I've run the Boston Marathon, competed in the 1000 meter butterfly medley and then played 3 sets of tennis on top of that! GOOD GRIEF, HE INVENTED THIS CRAPOLA?

I had a Kenalog injection in two trigger points (one on the right side of my spine in the shoulder blade area and one on the right side of my spine in the lower neck) on March 27, 2008. Prior to the shot, I was suffering from numbness in my right arm and leg, shooting pains and loss of motor skills in my right arm, severe muscle spasms in my back and neck, tightening in my chest and back, severe migraines, night sweats and hot flashes, vertigo/dizziness, shortness of breath, heart palpitations and chest pains to name a few. Since the injection, I have noticed an increase of heart palpitations, dizziness, severe migraines, blurry vision, excessive weight gain, severe hot flashes, tiredness, and have had trouble sleeping. In the last two weeks, I have noticed a quarter sized indentation where I received the shot in my shoulder blade area and a baseball sized indentation where I received the shot in my lower neck area. I was not made aware of ANY side effects to this shot and will DEFINITELY not get another one. It is only a month later and I have not felt any improvement in my symptoms that I had before or after the shot. I received the shot, as my doctor felt it would help with what they think is a spazzed muscle in my back shoulder blade area near the spine. The doctor who gave me the shot stated if it didn't help, they would try giving me a cervical epidural, which has its own set of scary risks! I am beginning to think I will have to live with my symptoms for the rest of my life!

I have six year old twins who have been on Singulair since August. Things have been so bad I have considered putting them in counseling. The physical symptoms they have is dry, red eyes, stomach aches, stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, night sweats, body aches, itchy skin, cherry red cheeks and ears, and excessive weight gain. The other symptoms they suffer from are night terrors, sleep walking and reaching for things that are not there. Also anger, depression, very, very irritable they will cry over the least little things. They are doing well in school, but are crying every day they hate school and they basically hate everything. The teacher also tells me they can't pay attention. They have become very aggressive hitting each other and there brother and sister. Screaming and crying for long periods of time. I really started to worry when one of them said he wished he were dead. That is something a six year old should not even think of. I have four kids and I just thought it was family stress and it was because I couldn't devote enough attention to them. I had begun to think that I was the worst mother on the planet. With all these crazy things going on I never dreamed that they were connected. I really don't know why I goggled Singulair side effects, but I am so glad I did. It cannot be a coincidence that so many children and adults have the same symptoms and they all take Singulair. My children have taken their last dose tonight and I pray they will start feeling better. It is such a relief to know that there is a reason for their behavior it was so out of character for them. I usually do not reply to any posts but I feel it is important to let everyone know about this. I will also let my pediatrician know.

I have been taking OMEPROZOLE for around 9 months for Barretts Asophegus reflux.
In general I was beginning to feel I was very ill with symptoms mainly: hot flushes, my face was burning for a few seconds, dizziness, stomach cramps top right mainly, feelings of diareah, and dry mouth.
Has anybody else experienced any of these symptoms... my GP is sending me for a scan on my Gall Bladder, but in my mind all these cramps are associated with Omeprozole... I cannot stop taking it or I get severe pain between my shoulder blades with reflux burning.
Maureen.

Hi all.. I 've been taking Lisinopril for about 4 months now.
Started with 5MG of Lisinopril, Heart was beating too hard in chest.
So I cut it down 1/2MG's (2.5) and my heart felt normal again.
I have post nasal drip, that is clear color and thin, plus the tickle cough that wakes me up at night somewtimes.
I got this nose thing and cough to stop for a month after my doctor gave me Rhinocort Nose Spray, it is a steroid type spray.
I stopped using that spray, because I thought I was better,
Now I am get the nose / cough again.
Also getting shortness of breath that could be from anxiety.
Also Pain in the back of both legs, in the calfs.
My stomach has seem like it has been extended for about a week or so.
I also have been getting "really" tired. When I come home from work, I can hardly stay up.

I started searching for any side effects of Yasmin after a young lady on another website that I frequent asked about it. I started taking yasmin in 2002 after I had sugery to remove tumors from my ovaries. I experienced such terriblr pain during my menstral cycle right before and right after my surgery that my gyno prescribed it for me. It did stop the pain but my body has not seemed right ever since. I contributed it to my body being confused after my surgery, I never would have contributed it to the yasmin. I had absolutely no sexual desire (and it is still at a minimum), I would wake up in a pool of sweat every night, I have had excessive weight gain. Before my surgery, I weighed 115. At my last visit to the gyno I weighed 160, My weight had not been an issue in my adult life and I cannot seem to lose the weight. Since beginning a serious workout routine, I have had terrible pain in my knees and I battle with depression and for a while had constant anxiety attacks. When I tried to tell my doctor that I thought something was wrong, especially about the weight gain, he said that it couldn't possibly be the yasmin. This site has really opened my eyes. Thanks ladies!

Hi
I started taking Yamin 3 weeks ago because I have terrible cramps due to having endometriosis. My doctor said to take Yasmin continuously (without taking the placebo) so I don't have a period. I thought I was being a hypercondriac but I am suffering from headaches, nausea, I gag once in awhile and now I have calf pain. After reading these notes from all of you I am wondering is this going to get better once my body gets used to it or will I be feeling worse. Plus I am extremely tired and I was wondering if anybody feels that too. I am at a loss because without something I can't function with all my severe cramps. I am not sure to switch pills or keep going to see if things get better. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Lynn

Hello Everyone,
I attempted to post some of my symptons, last week, but apparently, they're lost on this site somewhere. I've been on Yasmin, for about 3yrs, just about, and started seeing symptons after about 6 months, and they really stepped up after 1yr, thought I knew was related to my pill, but I thought that they would level out, whenever my hormones adjusted. I guess not! I was just floored when I found this site. I had made a decision to stop taking Yasmin, as I was convinced that it was the root of all my evil, literally! I will just give you a quick cap on a few of my symptons. They are, as follows:
* Excessive Weight Gain ( I was always a small girl even after my pregnancy) (20lbs in 1.5yrs)
*Lost Labido (It's like playing hide and seek with your own body)
*Pain, nausea & occasional vomiting following CLIMAX ( a real Sexual killer)
*Increased Acne
* Killer MOOD SWINGS!!!! (Nobody would even touch me before they were sure I had my coffee!)(BAD Mornings)
*Increased hunger ( I was never satisfied)
*Loss of Energy
*Loss of sexual and normal touch sensation
* Cervical Displasia- level IV ( w/in 1 year of a healthy pap)
I was told that this was the fort knox of all bc. Why would my doctor prescribe me bc, which has not been tested more extensively, on the side effects. I am so shocked. I trusted what my doctor said. I am hoping, well not hoping, that somebody out there has had the pain and nausea after climax. My doctor told me that I might be allergic to my partners sperm, even though he had no issue climaxing. It was only when I did the deed. It was even more severe about a week prior to my cycle. I thought that I was loosing my mind, or phsycologically creating my own disease. My doctor had never heard of such pains in relation to intercourse. I told one of my best friends about this site, since her doctor just prescribed her Yasmin. She has enough issues of her own. She definitely does not need more.
I am nearing 3wks free from Yasmin, and I have noticed an enormous change in my appetite, labido ( not to mention, no more pains), moods, and my energy levels. I feel so great. Now, I just have to find another way, not to get pregnant. I just hope and pray that I don't suffer hair loss, headaches, or heart palpitations. That would just put icing on the cake. I pray for a speedy recovery, for everyone affected by this poison.
Intrigued!!

I have had severe chronic asthma for over 20 years. Started Advair 500/50 4 years ago and my asthma is completely under control--almost never need to use my abuterol. But I have gained 50lbs, and I exercise 5x a week and eat a 1200 calorie diet, and I still gain 1-2 pounds a month. I have several cushing's like symptoms. Excessive weight gain in abdomen and breasts while my arms/legs are thin. Hair loss. Severe stretch marks on abdomen and thighs. Blurry vision, headaches, severe cramping in my calves and strange rash-like bumps on the backs of my arms. Not to mention chronic tachycardia and constant thrush in my mouth. Also my thyroid quit working a year ago and I am on synthroid now. Now it appears I may have an adrenal gland problem. I never had these problems before the Advair. When I mentioned my concerns to my pulmonologist he actually laughed at me. I wonder if Glaxo gives kickbacks to Dr.'s who prescribe their drug.

Floaters in eyes which are more pronounced now than ever and sometimes flashes of white spots in peripheal vision. Toenails are dry, big toe is dry and dark and they look very unhealthy.

Side Affects :
Long hours of sleeping. Always early nights sometimes 7pm
excessive weight gain.
Appetite increased to eat carbohydrate foods.
Totally disappointed with the medication. Been on it for nearly 5 years. Am going off medication this week. (was on such a low dose, down to 100 gm.)
Feeling a bit sleepless - I was told it wasn't addictive medication however now that I'm off the medication I have had sleepless nights.
Active efforts/Improvements since going off.
Have now increased excercise 40minute walks at least 3 times a week. And swimming and sometimes aerobics.
Also increased salad intake
Concerned because the Dr "encouraged seroquel medication" over a previous medication that was causing lactation. Felt that Dr was just marketing medications pushed by giant pharmaceutical companies. Disappointed and Concerned.
Totally upset over this felt psycho therapy would help constantly concerned with this medication dropped from 300 gm to 100 gm. This still didn't help with side affects.

I have been on Yasmin for 2 years and i was recently diagnosed with an eye disease called keratoconus which is loss of vision and cornea problems and Yasmin might have been the cause of it. I also have had excessive weight gain that i can get rid of, depression, sleeping problems, and hair loss. I am concerned because i do not know if it is healthy to just stop taking birth control but i don't want to do more harm to my body.
