I started using advair in early December 2006. The first month was great, no asthma symptoms, no side effects. However, after the second month (I am a very healthy female, exept for the asthma), I got pneumonia, chronic sinus infections, night sweats, dry mouth (especially at night), chest pain, swollen glands in neck, constant heartburn, anxiety, cystic acne, leg cramping. I weaned myself off the drug after doing more research on it. I was only on 100/50 once a day. I have been put on singulair for a few days now and feel great. I attribute all these symptoms to Advair use. It is not for everybody and those who use it should be well informed of these side effects. It made my life a living hell.

Hi, BitterRN again. I dont believe your gyn either. What you are coming to realize is what all of us in the medical field already know, and its scary, but all doctors do not have the same knowledge in all fields of medicine. That is why experts always push second opinions all the time in hopes that the second time you will run into someone who has more knowledge and experience in your particular problem. I know this because I see it everyday, please believe me, and EVERY WOMAN ON THIS SITE PLEASE KNOW THIS: A doctor is only as good as he continues to strive to be. As far as hormones go a gyn has limited knowledge about them exept that the normal ranges fall between here and here as printed on the lab report, if your labs fall in the normal even if normal is 0.3 to 4.4 if your lab comes back 0.3 well thats normal right? BUT IT IS NOT NORMAL, normal for an 80 year old maybe, but not a young woman. So only if that gyn has taken a particular interest in hormones, gone to many seminars, read many books about them, interacted with experts on hormones, will they even know to flag this as abnormal and further investigate it. They will tell you everything is fine and by process of elimination its all in your head. ITS NOT. Even being a nurse I was told this and it infuriated me. Thats why I seeked Dr after Dr until I found one who could help me. Rarely do you find a Dr. who will say hey Silke, Im just not sure about these labs or Im not really an expert on hormones so maybe you should seek out another opinion or sometimes they really think they are right because thats what they have always told patients for the 20yrs they have been practicing and so your just depressed or crazy, but we all know that medicine changes rapidly, year to year, so if they dont keep up, they just keep treating with "old methods", because thats the way its always been done.
Sorry to get on my soapbox Silke I just get so frustrated! That is why I gave you the name of that Dr. in Spain because I knew that he was an expert on hormones. I know Spain is far!:( I even tried to google Dr's in Europe who are experts in hormones with no results.
So yes when you call your doctors office ask for copies of this lab report (You have a right to your medical records) they may make you sign a release for them and go to the office to get them that how they do it in the U.S. Anyway tell them you want a copy of ALL of your lab reports from this visit AND the visits where you had the labs done a long time ago. This way we can compare what they were last time. I would even be willing to ask my doctor here if she thinks your levels are too low and maybe you should get another opinion. She may even have some leads of Dr.s there who can really help, as she attends many seminars where experts gather worldwide.
OK Silke, Ill let you go, sorry for the long post....again:)

I was prescribe sulfameth for a bladder infection (I had know syptoms for) and a possible kidney stone. The next morning I notices strange intense pains going down my legs. I didn't think it was the medicine. I was also perscribed Hdrocodone for pain. I still felt bad but thought it was the kidney stone. A few day later I got a pain behind my left ear. Through the night I devolped intense pain in my lower head and my right ear also. The gland in my neck began to swell. My gland continue to ache especially behind my left ear. Two days before I finished my 10 day trial on this medicine I broke out in a rash. First on my neck it didn't bother me to much exept I had been feeling a bit nausous. By the end of the day the rash came out all over my body, arms, legs, back and neck and face. It really started to itch. I took Benadryl. I still feel extremely sick, chills, low grade fever and fatigue. I didn't make the connection to this medicine until the rash. So glad I found this site. It feels good to think I'm not going crazy. Oh Yea, I still have the original pain in my back (the kidney stone) waiting to here from the doc.

hi everyone, i have never seen so many people that had side effects from birth control. i thought i was the only one gees!!
AFTER I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN 1997 I GOT ON DEPO, IT WORKED JUST FINE FOR ME FOR 7 YEARS EXEPT THE HORRIABLE HEADACHES AND THE WEIGHT THAT NEVER SEEMS TO COME OFF.
SO AFTER 7 YEARS I THOUGHT I WOULD CHANGE TO ORTHO TRI CYCLIN, TO SEE IF I COULD LOSE SOME WEIGHT AND FOR THE HEADACHES TO GO AWAY, YAH RIGHT, THAT PILL HURT MY BREAST SO BAD I THOUGHT I WAS PREGNANT AGAIN! SAME HEADACHES AND NO LOSING WEIGHT. AND TO TOP IT OFF I STARTING HAVING HEART PALPITATIONS THINKING I WAS HAVING A HEART ATTACK!
SO I CALLED MY DOC AND TOLD HER MY SYMPTOMS, SO SHE SWITCHED ME TO YASMIN, AND I'M STILL HAVING THE SAME SYMPTOMS ,THE OTHER STUFF I CAN DEAL WITH BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD HEART PALPITAIONS BEFORE. I THINK I HAVE HEART PROBLEMS AND I GOING TO END UP HAVING A ATTACK.
BUT AFTER HEARING OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS, THAT SO CRAZY!!!!! AND OF COURSE WHEN YOU TELL THE DOCTOR THEY THINK YOUR CRAZY, THEY NEED TO PUT ALL OF THESE SYMPTOMS IN THIS FORUM IN THE INSERT FOR THE PILLS CUZ IF EVERYONE KNEW THE REAL SYMPTOMS OF THESE PILLS NO ONE WOULD TAKE THEM AT ALL!!!!
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING ! -NICOLE-

I was perscribed Reglan to counteract stomach discomfort while taking a strong third course of antibiotics for a persistant sinus infection. I generally felt fine before taking Reglan, exept for the general sinus infection symptoms. So, after taking the dose of Reglan, I went to the store to do some shopping. While walking down the aisle, my eyes rolled up inside my head. I though I was going nuts and could not understand why I could not look down - kept trying with all my might to move my eyes down, but they wouldn't. I carefully drove home (very nearby) and went to bed - it was VERY painful, as my eyes went all the way up and I could no longer see. 4 hours later, I was fine, but hadn't realized that the Reglan was the cause until I took the second dose and went through another 4 hours of hell.
A neurologist has since told me not to take compazine either, since people who have this severe of a reaction to Reglan may have it with compazine, too.
Another note - Went to the ER recently with severe abdominal pain (turned out to be due to Vioxx!), and noted in the chart that I was allergic to Reglan. Once in an ER bed, a nurse came at me with a needle. I asked what it was, she said, "Just something to help with your tummy". I asked more stongly again what it was, and she said Reglan. I told her to check my chart first - I'm allergic.
** If you are somseone with allergies or reaction to meds - ALWAYS ASK WHAT YOU ARE BEING GIVEN, or make sure someone is with you who can!! **
I can't imagine what would've happened if I had let her give me that shot...

If you do have to stop talk to the doc and get a replacement.
I have been taking it for almost four weeks, will be glad when i stop as i am tired sweat irritable out of it, none of it too bad exept for the tiredness, but i have had an infection for years which was hidden in my prostate, some symptoms but never could find the bactiria, then durring a period of greater effect got tested and they found it was staff, so lots of levaquin 500 mg for four weeks, i will be glad to be rid of the infection and its effects, so it is worth it. If i had really bad effects from the levaquin i would have gone back to the doc and gotten something else.

I´m 55 years old, and been taking Diovan 80 gr for more than three years now. Never had any problem, and my blood pressure is really under control. But lately I´ve been experiencing dizziness.Decided to reduce the doses to half a pill per day, and felt better. Did several tests with a cardiologist, and all seems OK, except that my blood pressure was again a bit high, and he recommended me to continue with the 80 gr doses. The Doctor attributed the dizziness to low mineral water intake. So I am now drinking 2.5 ltr of mineral water a day, but besides going very often to the loo, the dizziness did not disappear. Is it possible the Diovan is the cause.
