I went on the NuvaRing in November of 2008 and have been on it for about 4 months. I'm on my 4th ring. In that same amount of time I have gainded 10 pounds. I didn't put the pieces together until today.

With normal weight gain, you know, when you stop working out for a few weeks, you feel like you gained weight all over. You notice that your arms and legs and abs are all less toned. But, with me, I feel like my upper thighs and lower abs are huge! It's like all the weight is just around my upper things and abs making it feel like bloating. My pants feel tight. But, meanwhile my lower legs, waist, and arms are still toned. My face feels a little bit bloated though too.

I called my gyno today and they said that some people do experience weight gain on the NuvaRing. I was on Depo for 2 years prior to this and never experienced weight gain on that. My gyno said it's more common to experience weight gain on the Depo. So, she thought I might be the "reverse" example of someone that gains weight from extra estrogen from the NuvaRing, but does not gain weight from the progesterone only Depo Provera.

I'm taking the NuvaRing out and continuing with my healthy diet and 4x a week exercise schedule. And, I'm hoping these 10 pounds come off and that my pants fit again! I can't afford to go buy new clothes!

I am a 43 year old women with 2 children. After my second child I started having problems with infections and pain during sexual intercourse After 5 years and 3 doctors I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I had surgery and still had some discomfort so my doctor suggested the Lupron shots. I was very concerned about the side effects. I talked to my husband and prayed about it a lot and decided to go with the injections. I just had my last of 6 Lupron injections the other day. I have experienced most of the side effects such as fatigue, mood swings, joint pain, lack of desire for sex and night sweats but have handled it pretty well. I was very concerned about the weight gain so I started a pretty intense exercise schedule (work out everyday) I have lost 5 pounds and feel the exercise helps with the fatigue. Even though I did experience the side affects due to the fact that I did not take my add back therapy like I should have I feel so much better than before I started the Lupron injections.

Denise,
just a heads-up--valerian is addictive as well, don't overdo it. One of my friends can't get off of it, and although she doesn't need it anymore for anxiety, she gets very deffensive when someone questions her taking it, just like an addict.
I just changed my diet and exercise schedule and I hope that will be enough. I am already feeling tons better without ANY medications. Everyone's different, but I think you're making the right decision by not wanting to use Xanax as a 'crutch'.
Silke is right, what you need now is someone to lean on and turn to for support, and LOTS of patience. It will all get better, promise.

I recently began taking Levaquin for an infection I received after donating a kidney to my sister last year.

I too was never warned by my doctor about the potential side effects. I had no idea that this drug could cause tendon and muscle damage if rigorous exercise is performed.

I am currently training for a marathon and told my doctor this but was never warned about the risk. One day after taking the drug I was out running and began having extreme tendon pain. The pain was located just below my calf and has persisted for the last 2 weeks.

Just having recently moved to the US from Canada I am shocked at the lack of information the US doctors give to their patients. I had informed the doctor about my exercise schedule but no mention was made about the possible effects this drug could have on me.
