I'm 31 and recently diagnosed with hypertension - back in February. Lisinopril was prescribed at 2.5mg.

After the first month this had little to no affect. My BP was still in the 150s over 111s. Dose was doubled to 5mg.

Started getting pains in my knees. Felt like I could not stretch my legs enough. Also starting feeling dizzy, anxious, exhusted and had some stomach issues. Diet became an issue because I was either ravanously hungry or could not face food at all.

On Monday I was at the hospital for more checks to try and find the cause of my hypertension. Blood tests, urine tests, cholestoral checks, eye tests, ECG - all repoted very healthy.

However, even on 5mg of Lisinopril my BP was well in to the late 140's / 110's. I'm due to have more tests in a month but my Lisinopril dose has been doubled again, this time to 10mg.

I'm having real trouble concentating, very bad leg pains, stomach has got much worse and I am totally exhusted. The only thing that has subsided in recent weeks is the anxiaty but I think this is due to the fact that I have started smoking again - after not smoking for 8 months.

I'm very glad this site is first on the search engine (can I name it?, the one that begins with G!). I thought I was maybe suffering from a prolonged mild flu.

I have an appointment tomorrow and will discuss these side affects. If anyone is interested I will post the response.

Thanks for sharing this information. It is very helpful

I am so glad I found this site! Start on Levothroid 100mcg 3 weeks 2 days ago. 1st day - Felt fine... 2nd day - horrible headache starting over my eyes going straight to the base of my head. 800mgs of ibuprofen to dull the pain, never stopped, just dulled. I was lethargic and slept for about 3/4 of the day. Day 3 - same issues. Day 4 - I did not take, felt better but still exhusted. Day 5 - 19, 50mcg of Levothroid: still felt very tired, but mainly I was becoming more and more aggrivated by little things... Things that had never bothered me before! I would think about smacking people or popping them upside the head for stupid reasons. I was getting so upset for nothing - all the time. Day 20, stopped for the day. Day 21, took 25mcg... boy I felt so much better. No where near as cranky! Endocrinologists claimed the meds weren't the problem. Saw my G.P. on day 21, he agreed the Levothroid dose was way too high and prescribed me the 25mcg for now. Says in a couple of weeks go up to 50mcg and see how I do. Thank goodness!

My mind was in a fog. I could not concentrate. Fortunately the fog lifted 2-3 weeks after stopping the drug. However now 3 months later I have extreme fatigue and modest muslce pain. I was a marathoner and triathlete, now I am exhusted after a trip to Home Depot.

I have been taking Losec for many years then was switched to Omeprazole. My GERD has seemed to have worsened I always experance thirst, but the most worrying thing is that I get these choking attacks where I seem to be suddenly choking on nothing. It can happen any time not only when I am eating or drinking, even if I am resting quietly. I also experance a sudden increase in my heartbeat, at such a time my heart will suddenly and seemingly without cause start to pound this can continue for some time and leave me exhusted and often with a headache, these two last symtom accure together. Is there any one else with these symtoms (side effects)?
