I was on Diane for 2 years and was told it is not safe to take for more then a year...it should never be taking long term, although I have had great success with it when it came to excess hair growth on the face and belly...its fine hair but still it really bothered me so yes diane does help a lot with that and i never had any problems on it however my doctor just gave me Yasmin and i am reading all these awful things about it it kind of makes me afraid to try it but my doctor told me it is similar to diane 35 and if i did good on that i shouldn't have any issues with yaz....anyone have any good experiences with Yasmin? I wish I could stay on Diane 35 worked soo well...

Thanks for the update Kate,as we wait with interest in what Merck has to say,I hope it is not a repeat of the Lung Associations report. To review past clinical studies,i dont know feels crazy,to ignore post marketing reports, well ignorant. My fear is after making my report to the FDA,that was the end of it not one follow up for further information, not one question on how our recovery was continuing nothing. All my letters to my congressman not one reply,i did not ask for a reply, but if someone wrote to me as often as i write,i would at least want to rule out stalking.Clinical trials are what they are, they are for profit, and not the profit of the participant, but profit for the companies and clinics holding trials, this by itself is a conflict of interest. We must continue to demand change the very future of our children demands it.Those of us who have seen the ravages of this drug must still shout out till we are heard our experiences do count no matter what the out come of this investigation.Good luck to all keep fighting

I was using the NuvaRing for about 6-7 months. I started feeling quite a bit out of my head. I figured being a college student and nearing my graduation; that I was just a little stressed out and nervous about the future.
School long gone now, and still feeling weird, I decided to take a look into the side effects of the NuvaRing, since I had noticed the slight changes in my mood sometime after I began taking it.
I started out with a severely decreased sex drive. I joked how "wow this birth control works by making you not want anything to do with sex!" After a while, it wasn't funny anymore. I became uninterested in doing anything. I didn't want to be around friends anymore. I started getting snappy and easily aggravated at people, mostly my boyfriend and the people I work with. I started getting headaches a lot, which didn't help my mood, and I started getting really bad eye sensitivity to lights, which didn't help the headaches at all...
I started feeling horrible. Nothing was worth looking forward to. I was always anxious or nervous. I felt useless. The relationship with my boyfriend of two years was hanging by a thin thread.
I came across all of your comments about your experiences with the NuvaRing and I'm so glad I'm not the only one; I thought I was going crazy.
I love how nice and convenient the NuvaRing seems to be, but there is really nothing convenient about the things it has done to my mind, body, and my relationships.
No birth control is worth that much aggravation. I stopped taking it 2 weeks early, about four days ago. No real signs of improvement yet, but I'm hopeful that I'll soon be the same kind of person my boyfriend started dating.
I'm hoping to find a new form of birth control, but I'm mortified to get on another type that does the same things...
Has anyone switched from the NuvaRing after these kinds of symptoms and found something that works and doesn't do horrible things?

Hello, Ladies. Old-school poster Guest 5317 here {april, 2004!!!}.
I must say I am surprised that there are so many more posts about the issues with Yasmin. I would have thought that by now it wouldn't still be touted as some sort of wonder-pill. It is very disheartening.
It is moreso to see the long-term effects Yasmin has on people. I was lucky enough to start feeling better almost immediatly after getting off this toxin. My thoughts go out to all of you still struggling though the nighmare that this pill has caused you.
I have a question for some of the repeat posters who are nice enough to come back and update people. I have been off all BCP since shortly after the Yasmin mess and am weighing my options with going back on perscribed BC. My initial thought was to go with an IUD, since Yasmin has seriously freaked me out as far as hormones, but I simply can't risk the possibility of it failing, or worse, making me infertile for life.
What are your experiances with other BCPs? Is the mini-pill a safer option granting the history with Yasmin? I saw the Nuva-Ring mentioned, and a friend of mine recommended it back when I got off Yasmin.
At this point, I think the first-hand experiance of you ladies ranks higher than the paid endorsement of a dr. that would put me on something like this without telling me it would wreck my life. ;)
Be well!

I posted serveral weeks ago about taking my 5 1/2 yr old off singulair. He has done great as far as the asthma, no problems what so ever. The main reason I took him off was due to his behavior. Very moody, hyper, aggitates easily and so on. Well, after the 2nd week, he was like a NEW child...very calm and behaving in school. Well, he has pretty much regressed back to the behavior before taking him off this med. He has now been off of it for 5 weeks. His teacher asked me last week, if I had to put him back on this med, because he was getting back to his old ways.

I have stuggled with the fact that my son may suffer from this and have tried almost everything to avoid medicating him...I was really hoping this was the culprit to his behavior..He had been on singulair for over 4yrs...Is it just going to take longer to see the full effect of NO SINGULAIR???
