I've taken Metronidazole three times/day for two weeks for a foot infection. The metallic taste and nausea appeared after 7 days. Now it's horrible... every single meal that I've had since I've been taking the pills now gives me nausea, so I can't eat. Today I had a cup of coffee and it has been the most horrible experience (nausea, vomit, headache). I've felt really tired, I can't work, because of the nausea and fatigue. I'm done... will not continue taking my pills any more! DO NOT DRINK COFFEE IF YOU'RE ON METRONIDAZOLE!

I am a mom of three, the youngest is only 5 months and have always thought that the IUD was not a method for me. After much reading, discussing with my friends that tried Mirena or Paraguard, and trying to take birth control pills after 7 years of using natural family planning, I decided that Mirena was probably the best option for someone as busy and preoccupied as me. I only had mirena inserted yesterday and have already made an appointment to have it taken out tomorrow. The insertion was painful but the cramping and discomfort the hour immediately after the insertion approached labor pains. Today I have peritoneal pain, and I feel pressure upon sitting or moving. The bleeding has stopped but I have a weird mucus like discharge unlike anything I have ever seen before. I did experience nausea today but I can not definitively attribute it to Mirena. I really hope that it has not perforated my uterus, which I have now learned is more likely among lactating women. I also only just saw that depression was a possible side effect and being the working mom of 3 children under 4 already have enough tiredness and mood swings to pass around.

I started taking Femcon FE three weeks ago and I am refusing to finish the pack! Since I have taken it I have been experience nausea ( I throw up ever time I eat), moodiness, and weight gain (I eat healthy and work out 6 days a week) and slight depression. I have also noticed a pattern of binge eating and it’s become constant since I have taken this pill. YIKES! I didn't know what was wrong with me until I got on this website and read all these posts! I just want things to go back to normal! Has anyone experienced my specific symptoms?

I'm so glad I found this website. I've been on Femcon since December 30, and I CAN'T stand it!!! I've been bleeding for the past 5 days. I've already put on weight and notice an increase in my appetite. I'm also extremely moody and irritable. In addition, even though I take these pills at night, I still experience nausea when I take them. I'm also breaking out more. Like many others, my doctor gave me 5 months of samples from their office. I should have known better when the office manager was the one who originally recommended I take this pill. I haven't taken oral contraception for a couple of years. I was on Ortho TriCyclin and also tried the NuvaRing for a couple of months, and NEVER had these problems. When I called my doctor's office, I told the nurse that I was concerned these pills were too strong for me, she told me that Femcon is a low hormone pill. I just can't believe I'm having such a strong reaction to this pill. I want to stop it immediately, but the nurse tells me that if I do, I will bleed even heavier for the for a couple of weeks until my body re-regulates. She said that this bleeding I'm having should stop in a couple of months, but I'm sorry... It's just NOT worth it. Heed warning when the doctor wants to give you this pill... consider another option. The side effects have been unbearable.

I took 1 pill (100mg) Doxycycline HCl, went to bed, slept very groggy, exhausted. Next day, second pill, 1 hr later feeling nauseated, then severe migraine headache, thew up, felt like in a severe fever. This lasted about 5 hours then reduced to exhaustion, dizziness with some heartburn. It was intolerable. I also felt very depressed and negative.
One website describing a patent for a different formulation of Doxycycline reported that 31% of patients taking this experience nausea and vomiting.
Why is this drug so frequently prescribed?
Stop taking this drug if you have side effects.
After doing a little research it seems that the "Hyclate" formulation has many side effect problems. The other formulations (monohydrate or carrageenan) may be better. The Hyclate formulation is very rapidly absorbed and is acidic and can cause local damage to the stomach or esophagus. Some report these symptoms on this website. Also it seems foolish for this to be in capsule form, since this increases the rapidity of dissolving and probably also local damage. The drug is 'good' in that it stays in your system a long time and brings your body to a high amount of antibiotic rapidly.
I have never had a bad reaction to an antibiotic before. I'm glad this website allows for these reports.

I started taking Loestrin (again) a couple of months ago. The first week or so was fine...just the usual breast tenderness etc. However, by the time I was in my second week I started to descend into depression...and badly. I felt like crying all the time and felt generally hopeless about life. I am generally a positive upbeat person so the difference was obvious. At first I thought it was the changing of the seasons or because my boyfriend and I live in different states, but then the more that I thought about it the more that I realized the bouts of depression I've had in the past have coincided with taking this pill. I didn't experience weight gain...but instead weight loss....however, this is a reflection of the depth of depression it caused me because when I'm depressed I have no appetite. I have also had unexplained/unjustified anxiety and have been paranoid about my boyfriend breaking up with me, cheating on me etc. It's been really ridiculous, but it's almost as thought my thoughts are uncontrollable. During the one week off, my mood and overall outlook on life improved significantly, but declined once again when I started my new pack. My boyfriend and I have decided that the side effects are just not worth it and I'm going to make an appointment with my gyno to be fitted for a diaphragm. I know it's not as easy to use as the pill, but I figure I may not have a boyfriend if my craziness continues!! Oh...lastly, I did also experience nausea as well....not super bad, but enough to notice.

Hello,
I am soooooo happy to have found this post!!! I have been on Yasmin for approximately six months for very irregular or non-existent periods. About four months ago I began having dizzy spells where I could not walk or move my head without vommitting. I have now had one each month, this last one occuring for three days. I have also experience nausea, stomach aches, vommitting, etc... intermitent from the other symtoms. Long long story short I was referred to an ENT specialist and was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease (Inner Ear.) I didn't buy it so I began searching for side effects of Yasmin - I am stopping it today! I have my fingers crossed this is the problem>

I am 22 and I started to take doxy this past January after having a cyst removed from my nape. I only experience nausea after eating a small meal or nothing at all. I now eat a larger portion for the meal that I take doxy with.
Also, I am a weight lifter and noticed a weight gain of 15 pounds since January. I am on a steady diet and I have stopped taking supplements in fear of getting a weird interaction with the meds. I do get cravings, but I fight it. I have never had any muscle pain other than the ones I get from lactic acid.

I was placed on Doxycylcine for Epididymitis, which is an inflammation or infection of the epididymis, a convoluted duct that lies on the posterior surface of the testicle. I took Doxycycline for one week. 100 mg twice daily. I ate a meal with every pill. I did not experience nausea or vomiting like I see many did. I did however have fatigue, loss of appetite, diarreha, increased anxiety (I have anxiety and panic attacks), depression, agitation, pains shooting down the back of my quadriceps, abdominal pain and some acid reflux type symptoms towards the 4 th day of taking this drug. It has been a little over a week since I finsihed this drug and I am still having pains down my right leg in in different places, when I sit or lay down is when it is most painful. The doctor can only describe it as a possible slipped disc. How? I was bed ridden for a week! The pain in my leg is not severe but very annoying! Like others here my doctor says that he does not see how Doxcycline could cause this. I will never take this drug again! I will from now on request Zithromax. I have had to use Zithromax quite a few times in my life and have had no problems with it.

I have been on Yasmin almost four months and the only side effect I have really experienced are headaches. Almost 3 or 4 per week. It's been rough, but I am ealing with it. My skin is great. The first month I broke out a tiny bit, but nothing compared to the cystic acne I got on Aleese or other pills I have tried. My periods have been signifigantly lighter, and my PMS (cramps, tears, acne) has been the lowest it's ever been. I used to experience days of cramps, now I get a pain or two the 1st day of my period and that's it. I only experience nausea when I forget to take a pill and have to douple up the next day. Overall, I have been happy with it.

Hello everyone. I am here to add my "two cents" about Yasmin. I have been off of it for about 2 months now, and I am feeling much better. I originally was put on birth control pills to control horrible cramps during both ovulation and my period. I am a 47-year old female who has been getting worse and worse pms and periods. I tried a couple other birth control pills, but my blood pressure was on the high side, so my OB/GYN explained that it might be worth trying Yasmin, since it has a diruetic in it. Like most of the other posts I have read, I don't know if I am "crazy" or not, but all I can attribute my symptoms to is Yasmin. I started taking Yasmin in the end of February, and by day two, I was nauseous and was constantly in the bathroom. Within a week, my entire lower abdomin was tender to the touch. By this past Easter (the end of March), I began running a fever and went to the Dr. I was put on Cipro, as they thought I had either a lower abdominal infection or diverticulitis. I was sent for a lower GI and they did see some small kidney stones and a 4 mm cyst on my right ovary. The cyst eventually went away and I continued to experience nausea and tenderness in my lower abdomin. After my period in the end of March/beginning of April, I went off Yasmin. ALL IS NOW FINE. Am I crazy? I don't know if this is a coincidence, or if these symptoms were caused by the Yasmin. I have never been so sick in my life. I am now hormone free - I will put up with the heavy painful periods for awhile longer!
Good luck to all!

I've been taking Yaz for about a year now, and I've noticed that I am not as irritable as with other, less expensive pills. I also have experienced reduced pre-menstrual breast swelling vs no pill, and my mild acne has disappeared. I did encounter nausea when I took it in the morning, lasting for about 8 hours. I addressed this by taking the pill at night, and I either do not experience nausea at all or maybe I just don't notice because I'm sleeping. Taking it at 6:30pm every day works well, though it is harder to remember it. I set my cell phone alarm.
