I've been on NR for almost 2 years. I was fine, I thought, at first. But for the last 3 months I have such severe lower back pain, I can hardly move (and it worsens after sitting for long periods of time)...and it magically lessens after I take out the NR.

Also, I have gained weight that I can't manage to shed, no matter how much I starve myself or workout. I'm heavier than I've ever been at 188 lbs, and my OBGYN when I told her how upset I was about the weight gain told me it was as easy as cutting 100 calories per day - you know one spoon of mayo or piece of cheese...like I'm sitting around spooning mayo out of a jar!

My mood swings are scary - and getting worse every month. I get mad over absolutely nothing and cry and shake with rage...to the point where I've felt like I was going insane, right now I have one "major explosion" per week. I don't want to know what my blood pressure it, I'm sure it's higher than normal, if from nothing else my mood swings. In fact reading your posts out loud to my boyfriend, I've managed to bit his head off and start crying.

I have read & re-read the side effects of NR, with no explanations of this...until I read everyone's posts here.

I wish I had never tried Yasmin. Spider veins; increased pigment on my face, leaving me with dark splotches; daily nausea, which became much worse if I got slightly off schedule. I've been off the pill for more than a year and the skin problems caused by Yasmin have not gone away. Worse yet was the low sex drive, vaginal dryness, and bad vaginal pain. I'm worried that I won't be the same as I was before.

I was prescribed Levaquin for a sinus infection. Shortly after taking the drug, I noticed a heavy metallic taste in my mouth. After two doses, I did notice the sinus infection was getting much better and decided I was well enough to go out to dinner with my husband (who prescribed the Levaquin). We arrived at the restaurant and within seconds of being seated at our table, I felt an explosion in my head. The pain, slamming through the whole left side of my head, was beating along with my heart! I have never felt head pain such as this. Thank God my husband is a doctor and I quietly told him there was no way I was going to make it through the dinner because my head was EXPLODING! In a our state of fear and embarrassment, he took me home and put me in a hot shower, gave me Advil, steroids, Ativan and Vicodin. I'd never had that many drugs on board in my life! The pain receded from about a level 9 to a 3 within two hours, then completely disappeared after 5 hours. I woke up fine this morning and my husband and I decided Levaquin probably is not a good drug for me, though it does help many other people.

Hello everyone. Thank you for sharing your stories. I no longer feel so confused as to what I am experiencing while on Prednisone. I was prescribed this medication for my back (I have a ruptured disc). I am 24 years old. I took a short five day treatment of prednisone about three weeks ago. I was very foggy and forgetful. I was tired and bloated. The worst side effect I have noticed is ACNE! Oh my gosh, I haven't ever experienced a breakout like this before. This breakout is a continuous side effect long after I stopped taking the drug. I went to the doctor again yesterday for a check up on the status of my back injury. He has prescribed a THIRTY day treatment and even more aggressive approach with prednisone!!!! I am so scared to start this treatment because of what I have already experienced. HELP! Does anyone know if the acne will clear up? Will it scar? Does anyone have any tips on this?
Thanks.

My head exploded from Levaquin. Stuff all over the walls and my wife complained about cleaning it up. All of this for a sinus infection. But, with the explosion, the sinuses cleared!

A serious side effect, but probably worth it.
