WOW! I have NEVER had a ride quite like this trip. LSD and shrooms ain't got nothin' on these awful little buggers! At least when you ingest a hallucinogen intentionally, you are, or should be, somewhat mentally and physically prepared for the ensuing consequences. I really wasn't down with wigging out on antibiotics while sick as hell. I have mild anxiety occasionally, so I picked up on what was happening physically pretty quick. Until I did tho, I was a bit freaked out. Thought I'd write this for those of you who haven't had any experience with the physical/mental "symptoms" that can occur with this drug. Strange thoughts, detachment from physicality and reality, paranoia, anxiety...all of which can/will trigger actual physical side effects like rapid heartbeat, rising blood pressure, headache/migraine, vision distortion, ringing ears, extreme nausea/stomach ache, insomnia, night terrors/strange dreams, etc. Just keep these things in mind...it's not your imagination. It is the drug. It WILL pass, but it may take awhile. Just ride it out and don't let it get you. You'll be okay, but for me it took about 15 hours after only 3 days of dosing. I feel lucky that I'm so intune with my mind/body. It was a bit scary, but it's just knowing the possible side effects are real and not in your head that will make the biggest difference. This doesn't happen to everyone, and I certainly never thought it would happen to me, but I would rather be deathly I'll than deal with that mind screw and physical pain. Ugh. Terrible drug. I never take conventional meds, and this is why. May the force be with you!

34 year old woman with UTI. I was placed on Macrobid and this is my hird day taking it. I was feeling sooo bad that i started doing searches and found this site and Im happy I did I thought I was crazy. extreme nausea (feels like morning sickness) the thought of any food makes me ill, headaches, sharp stomach pains, extreme fatigue, I generally feel like I have a terrible flu without a fever. I have never had symptoms like this before while taking an antibiotic. I feel so drained that I've been taking 3-4 hour naps during the day. Will call doctor to change prescription. I would rather suffer with the UTI than this!!!

I had the Mirena inserted 6 weeks post postpartum so it has been in about two and a half months, since then I have turned into a crazy woman. At first I thought it was postpartum depression but then I got to thinking I was fine up until my six week check up.
Symptoms include the following:
Chest pain
Extreme Nausea
Exhaustion
Irritability
Uncontrollable Crying
Loss of hair
Anxiety
Dry skin
Hair on my legs grows out of control I have to shave them EVERY day as opposed to my every three day schedule.
I have been on my period since they put it in basically have had a combined total of seven days of not bleeding. ugh.
Me and my Husband have fought every day since I have been on this.
It's getting RIPPED out lol on Wednesday.
If I would have known what it would do to me I never would have got it!

today is my first day off doxycycline. i was prescribed 100mg twice a day for 14 days for lyme disease which it got rid of. i already had some nausea and fatigue from the lyme , but this drug is wicked. while taking the drug i have had heartburn even with the glass of water, extreme nausea( lost 6 pounds in a week and a half) having to force myself to eat, depression with spells of wanting to cry and not wanting to go out and be active or talk to anyone which is unusual for me, and no appetite at all , seeing this site is a big relief for me , but how long does it take to make these side effects go away ( that the doctor says rarely happen) and any suggestions for helping them go away?

I took Yasmin for years and was perfectly normal and totally functional. The pharmacy automatically switched me to Ocella last fall. I was ok up until around this past March. I have experienced extreme heart palpitations, horrible panic attacks and my very favorite has been the excruciating back and abdominal muscle pain (I'm on a heating pad every night for 4 hours). I feel like death. Have been to every doctor and have had every test done (cardiologist, family, obgyn, etc.) - I'm just plain crazy according to them!!! I'm 39, have 2 kids and a husband, teach school full time and I'm convinced I won't live to see 45. I have been starting to see commercials about lawsuits against Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella. I think the pill I took this morning is the last Ocella I'm ever going to swallow. Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms?

I have a seizure disorder (Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy) that started in 2000. I was on Valporic Acid till 2005 at which time I gradually switched over to Lamotrigine (Lamictal). My reason for switching to Lamictal is because it is a lot safer for an unborn baby than Valporic Acid and I got married in 2005 so just wanted to be safe just in case. Valporic Acid controlled both my myoclonic jerks and my grand mal seizures. I was on 1500mg a day (6 x 250mg). With the Lamictal I started at 100mg/day and now am on 125mg/day (5 x 25mg). I take 3 in the morning and 2 in the evening, exactly 12 hours apart. If I take my doses longer than 12 hours apart, I start feeling the withdrawal. My body just starts feeling strange. At first I thought this way I felt meant I was going to start having myoclonus jerks or a seizure but I now realize that it is withdrawal I am feeling. I hate how my body, my life, is controlled by the Lamictal. I hate the withdrawal feeling I feel almost every evening, and it goes away once I take my evening dose. Other than that I don't really know of any side effects I have. I know I am on a really low dose compared to a lot of people. My neurologist and family doctor want me to go up on my dosage to control my myoclonus jerks better but I keep refusing because I HATE HATE HATE being on any psychiatric medication. I have been on antidepressants in the past (Paxil, Effexor, Remeron, Cipralex at different times over 4 years) and I have been through withdrawal from them. I am so glad to be free from those drugs but I tell you the withdrawal is HELL. But if it wasn't for my seizure disorder, I would GLADLY go through hell again to be off of Lamictal. Recently I tried lowering my Lamictal dosage in hopes I could be on a lower dose. I cut one of my 5 pills in half which took me from 125mg to 112.5 mg. The first 7 weeks were fine - some minor hardly noticeable side effects. But then the withdrawal hit hard - panic attacks and extreme nausea being the worst, but also very weak/no strength, anxiety, trembling, etc. After 4 days of that I went back up to 125mg and after about 3 weeks was back to normal. The only reason I did not stick it out was because my myoclonus jerks were increasing and I did not want to seizure. I have stuck out half a year of antidepressant withdrawal torture and I would've stuck out the Lamictal withdrawal if it wasn't for my seizure disorder. Great book that really helped me if you want to go off Lamictal is Your Drug May Be Your Problem - How and Why to Stop Taking Psychiatric Medications by Peter R. Breggin MD and David Cohen MD. This book really helped me during my antidepressant withdrawal. Dr. Breggin also has a website which is ****** I do have some mild problems with anxiety and I have become a little OCD but I think that is left over from my years of antidepressant use as they both seem to gradually get better over time (I have been free from the death grip of antidepressants for 2 years now). If you decide to withdraw from Lamictal please do it SAFELY. Have strong support. Do it very gradually. Know the risks. I for one may have to be on this for life which is discouraging. After I am done having kids (I'm a 26 year old female, been married for 4 years, hoping to start a family soon) maybe I will switch back over to Valproic Acid.....it would control my jerks better but who knows if it would bring on a whole 'nother set of problems, right?

I have been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about 2 in a half months. I had started a period in the middle of my first set and they said that it would just take time..well i haven't had a period since. I have had UTI and pregnancy test and they were both negative. The doctors thought i was crazy and I felt helpless and thought it was because i hadn't taken them regularly enough. My symps were nausea/vomiting, yeast infection,sore/tender boobs, dry skin, cold sores, chapped lips, excess sweating (so much to where id wake up with wet hair), dizziness, rash, hair loss, depression, joint pain, horrible abdominal pain(like bad cramps),back pain, no appetite which i lost about 10 pounds in 2 weeks, headaches, and i hadn't had a period in two months. All these symptoms happened in about a two week span. I was freaking out about it because the doctors told me it was just stress but i was sure that something was wrong..i was talking to my mom because i was really scared and upset & she asked what birth control i was on and i told her. She looked at the package and saw it was Loestrin -->FE<--(iron)..no one in my family can take iron and it makes them very very sick. Im going to the doctor tom again to tell them that and im almost positive that this is the reason. I will let you know when i find out.

Hello,

I was on Yasmin for 2 years and the only problem I had was bloatedness, heartburn and nausea to the WORST extent. when i went off Yasmin for a few months I felt perfect! after I started taking it a again the Nausea started to kill me, it was so bad I just could not take it anymore, so now I have switched to Triphasil (recommended by a friend) who also had nausea and stomach problems so bad, caused by Yasmin that she ended up in Hospital. Another friend of mine also suffered from mood swings caused by Yasmin. has anyone else had severe Nausea from this product? its awful.

I found this sight after exhausting all other searches on the internet. I had the Mirena put in after the birth of my son at my 6 week checkup. My son was born 6/24/2008 and I had the Mirena put in the last week of August. I didn't have any problems with the insertion and I did have bleeding for a while afterwards but nothing else. However, in January I began getting migraine headaches and had extreme nausea everyday. I thought I was pregnant but took a pregnancy test and the results came back negative. I went to a Dr. and had SEVERAL tests performed and found out that I had a Urinary Tract Infection as well which I've NEVER had before. They thought I had ulcers but after taking the antibiotics and the ulcer medication the nausea is back again. I feel very run down and moody as well. I never thought it could be the Mirena and assumed it must be something else but after running upon this website I'm considering having it removed because all other tests came back negative...what else could it be? I'm only 30 years old and the Dr. said I was very healthy and he could see nothing wrong with me. I will report back when I've had it removed and let everyone know if the side effects have gone away.

Wow - this drug is potent. So grateful I am only on the 3rd day. I am not taking another dosage after reading these posts.

You know when something is going on wrong in your body and this drug has been troublesome since the very first dosage. Immediately upon taking the first pill, my mouth started watering and I had to run to the bathroom. I had extreme nausea and dizziness. On the second day, my mouth was dry and I felt extremely tired, nauseous and irritable. I could hardly keep my eyes open and had to drive 1.5 hours to attend a function for my daughter. I nearly fell asleep at the wheel.

Yesterday, I took the 3rd dose, and started suffering from the anxiety that all have complained of. I was awake all night, like I had drank a pot of coffee. The few times I fell asleep, I had vivid nightmares.

I have the last pill sitting next to me and after reading the posts, I am not taking it. I know side effects can be progressive and as more of the drug permeates the system, the side effects can increase!

Thanks to all of you for posting your issues. You may have saved me from extreme effects.

I took it for 3 days with extreme nausea, some heart racing, palpitations, headache, restless leg and insomnia. Then 4th day, I was afraid I needed to go to the ER - extreme heart racing, palpitations, numbness in left arm, tingling in hands and feet and feeling like I was about to faint. I waited it out for an hour and a half and is slowed down. But now after about 18 hours, my fingers are still tingly and feeling heartbeat in my neck.

My dermatologist prescribed it for an infection after a derma-filler injection. The side effects were not discussed. My ENT agreed that the med was best for my infection but did not seem concerned over the initial symptoms.

I have a heart murmur and cannot take anything containing pseudoephrine - this med acts like a mega dose of it!

I started Loestrin 8 days ago. I have been with my hubby 7 years and yesterday was the first time we got into a huge fight.. This morning I woke up to extreme nausea and vomited bile 2times. My lower back and uterus ache with severe cramps and I have been spotting ever since. I am also running a low grade fever and my fasting sugar was 8.2 this morning.. not good. My OBGYN put me on this pill because I have fibroids. IN January we had a D&C done and found out that I have pollyps and a uterus that has scaring that would be familiar with endomitreosis. I have 3 kids at home and DO NOT want anymore. I called my OBGYN crying this morning and his secretary advised me to stop the pills immediately and will call me back to see what is next once my Gyno gets back from his rounds at the hospital.. I want it out my darn uterus, that has to be much more enjoyable than this crap.

Extreme nausea and loss of appetite. Pain in the stomach area after I eat anything. I took Avelox 400mg for 7 days for sinusitus and bronchitis when Z-pak did not work. I had had reaction to Cipro and Levaquin years ago, but the doctor still prescribed Avelox to me. I still feel sick at my stomach and have pain after I eat and it has been 4 days since I took the last Avelox. I am continuing to spit up mucus and feel like my throat is constantly raw. 3 days after taking the Avelox, my tongue was red in the middle all the way back to my throat and I had red blister like spots on the roof of my mouth.

I'm aged 36 and have been diagnosed with bronchitis with cough that has lasted for about a month now. My Doctor gave me 'professional samples' of Avelox that I've used for 3 days now.
The very first day, within an hour I could hear my own heart pounding and my left arm started to get numb. I thought I may be having a heart attack. I had joint pain (knees, ankles, wrists) soon after. Though it went away after 5-6 hours, it was quite scary. I started to have diarrhea.
The second day I had pain above my hips (kidney) and even though it went away, I was getting this little jolts like a quick 1-2 second electric shock inside that area. This really freaked me out and I thought this drug would kill me if I continued.
I complained to my Doctor about these and she said they were expected. I took it for the last time, the third day when I developed extreme nausea and giddiness.

The only good that came out of Avelox was it reduced my fever which was almost 103 before starting the dosage.

I'm 21 and have been on and off birth control since the age of 14. I've always had terrible periods. My cramps are cripplingly bad and cause me to projectile vomit. Birth control I've been on in the past has made me gain unexplained weight fast (which I always lose as soon as I go off of it). As someone who has struggled in the past with eating disorders this is definitely not a pleasant side effect for me so I generally avoid the pill. In the last 6 months, my periods began getting worse again (they sometimes calm and spike depending on time of year, diet, etc). So I recently went to the obgyn after being off the pill for a couple of years. They did tests on me and discovered I have Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome, uterine fibroids and the cysts on my ovaries are constantly rupturing and leaking the fluid into a cavity in my pelvis causing a build up and more pressure and discomfort. So the doctor prescribed that I take Loestrin24fe. I'm only halfway into my second packet and already it's been a nightmare. As bad as my periods used to be, at least the majority of the pain was only for one day. About a week ago, I experienced extreme nausea. I was waking up ever couple of hours in the middle of the night to vomit. I've had a constant uncomfortable feeling in my uterus (kind of similar to mild cramps), my chin has broken out in pimples (which is really rare for me), I'm by no means overweight but I've been exercising 2 hours a day for several weeks and have mysteriously gained weight, I've been moody and teary, had continuous headaches, my sex drive has dramatically decreased and my vagina sometimes feels uncomfortable, slightly itchy or painful (and this is with just sex with my husband by the way, I don't have an std or random partners or anything haha) and then to top it all off, last night I almost fainted. I had a sudden fever and broke out in a sweat and then felt really itchy all over. Especially on my back. My husband looked and said I had broken out in a rash covering my back and spreading to my chest. I drank some water and went to bed and I guess I slept it off because I feel okay today. Bottom line is that I wouldn't recommend this pill to anyone. I've had unfortunate side effects with BC before but none like this. Only problem I'm having now is deciding whether to finish this month's packet or just quit halfway through.

I am 19 years old and have never had a health problem in my life. Of course the occasional cold or flu, but nothing serious, until I received my first Gardasil vaccination in August 2008. I was an active girl, running 5 miles a day and in the best shape of my life when I started getting dizzy and light-headed while I was running. At first I didn't think anything of it, perhaps I just didn't eat well enough that day, until it started happening day after day. When I went to my doctor as told her about these symptoms and asked about the possibility of an allergic reaction to Gardasil, she said, "No, absolutely not." So I didn't think about it anymore, and received my second dose in November. The week after I received my 2nd shot, I felt sicker than I have ever felt in my life. Extreme nausea, headache, dizziness, aching muscles, diarrhea, almost anything you can think of, I had it. After being reassured by my doctor that my prior symptoms were not from Gardasil, I didn't connect this week of suffering with it either, until I found this website. Now I wake up every day wondering if I am going to be able to get through my classes. I don't even remember what it feels like to be healthy anymore. I was scheduled to receive my third vaccination this week, but there is no way I am going to risk it. I beg of anyone who is thinking about getting the vaccine, or having their daughter receive the vaccine, please get as much research on it as you can. Gardasil has changed my life, and not for the better.

Like many of the other stories my daughter was a happy healthy 14 year old high school freshman prior to receiving the Gardasil vaccine. Now she is chronically ill suffering from pancreatitis, gastrointestinal disorders including extreme nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, headaches, blurred vision, pain, fatigue, hypersensitivity to light and sound, and has had pneumonia twice. We have recently spent 8 weeks in two different hospitals to return home with still no answers as to how to end this nightmare. She has a central line so that we can give her IV nutrition TPN and Lipids, is on 5 nausea medicines and 1 pain medicine every 6 hours round the clock just to keep her comfortable. We are going to take her to Mayo's with the hope they can help us, I refuse to accept the fact that this is what her life has become and that our only option is to treat the symptoms. The doctors so far are completely clueless without it being in black and white on a piece of paper from a test result they seem to dismiss you with out any compassion at all, I wonder if they would have that same additude if this was their daughter. If anyone out there has found any kind of help please let me know. I can't believe Merck is still being allowed to poison our young girls while the FDA looks the other way!

My doctor decided to switch my medication from Actos (15mg. daily) to Januvia (50 mg. daily) to try to get better blood sugar levels (120-130 mornings). Took Januvia for about three weeks. After two weeks, started experiencing sleep disturbance (waking every few hours), chest pain, digestive distress (could barely eat toast and eggs), anxiety, and flu-like symptoms (muscle aches, headache) which I thought was my fibromyalgia flaring. Went online yesterday and found this website which described many of my symptoms. Never associated them with Januvia. Did not take medication yesterday and feel 95% better today. I will not take this medication again. Also, Januvia did not lower my blood sugars. In fact, morning readings were higher (140-165).

Hi ladies! I had the Mirena removed on Oct 20th after coming across this website THANK GOD! I felt much better mentally almost immediately, but am experiencing headaches, which I didn't before, and dizzy spells.
Are any of you experiencing withdrawal symptoms? I know it'll be a while before the hormones are out of my system, I just want to make sure there's nothing else I need to be concerned about.
If I've learned nothing else through this process, it's that the drug companies and doctors are going to do what's best for THEM.
Hope you all who have had challenges with Mirena are feeling better!

I started taking Yasmin 3 months ago due to a friend's recommendation to stop by other birth control (mercilon) and start Yasmin. The first to months were fine, but the last few weeks have been filled with EXTREME nausea. After days of filling the need to vomit, I actually considered the fact that I could be pregnant even though pretty impossible. Two weeks ago, I was telling a friend about my extreme nausea and her response, 'it's Yasmin.' Turns out she had exactly the same problems. I told another friend about my 'horrific BC experience' and she asked which pill so when I told her Yaz she responded she also had major problems. I've never heard of so many people with problems! Although I do have one friend who is on it and has no problems with Yasmin.
It's been two weeks since I've figured out my physical problems are related to Yasmin (oh, is anyone else experiencing diarrhea?). Unfortunately I've had to finish the pack and I'm so happy that I finally have.....sadly, I'm at home sick from work because of this stupid pill. I've been so nauseous today (the day I'm starting my period) that I couldn't go to work so I've been in bed sleeping for 5 of the last 24 hours trying to sleep off the feeling. I'm hoping and praying that tomorrow I'll be okay again and I won't ever fill this away again.
Thank you you listening.

I put the NUVARING in yesterday morning. By last night, I was feeling not quite myself--my appetite was gone. I didn't sleep a wink last night and this morning, I woke up so nauseated and so sick, that I couldn't go to work (that cost me $100). I had a sore throat, headache, stomach pains, and extreme nausea. Once I pulled through the worst of it and could sit in a chair in front of my computer, I started searching on line and found this forum. After reading, I pulled the darn thing out (that cost me another $60 since my insurance didn't cover it). I fell asleep for a couple of hours and now I feel much better. The nausea is gone, the headache is gone, the shaking and sweating are gone. I still feel a little worn out but it's been a rough morning!
