Extreme nausea if taken on an empty stomach. Difficulty breathing.

So I got my IUD in April 2008 It was great at first just a little cramping for a few days and that was all. However it all went down the toilet in July. My periods even though light last for 3 weeks! I live with a constant period. I can't even enjoy my life or my job. I'm nauseated 24/7 It started off on the occasion now I'm just sick all the time. I go to the doctors and all they keep wanting to do is pump me with anti-nausea medicine. I feel like I'm almost crazy. This past weekend was really bad. I can't get off my couch without feeling like Im going to die. I can't go shopping I can't do anything. Not to mention all the anxiety attacks brought on by extreme nausea by doing everyday things like driving a car, shopping, anything. I never had an anxiety attack and I'm a soldier! I just can't take it anymore It's got to go. I would never recommend this I've had the Depo shot and it was NEVER this bad. Pain and cramping, extreme nausea, bloating, Is not worth it. I hope getting this removed will solve these problems I've been having

I too have experience a late period, 11 days late so far. In addition, I am having extreme nausea. I thought maybe I was pregnant, I took 3 tests and all are negative. I have been on the Wellbutrin for 1 month now and am not really thrilled with the results. Actually, I find it's not helping at all.

I was on Celexa for about 6 months and loved it with 2 exceptions. Hair loss and a huge loss of my sex drive.

My thought is that none of these drugs are without side effects...there is no free ride.

Anyone else have similar experiences with Wellbutrin?

I've been taking Doxy for only about a week now but since I've been taking it I have been experiencing a burning feeling in my stomach and extreme nausea. I came to this site today after throwing up my breakfast. Reading all these posts only to realize that Doxy not only caused my Nausea problem but problems in my relationship with my boyfriend! I had to apologize to him yesterday after blowing up (several times) crying for stupid reason and being extremely depressed. He thought I was unhappy with him and was about to break up but I told him that I thought my hormones were just not in synch. Now I realized that this drug caued my depression...eeesh! I am relieved to find out I am not crazy. I just got off the phone with him and he's relieved too. I'm going to continue my prescription because I only have a few more days left of it. I feel bad for those of you that were prescribed it for such a long period of time.

Ive just started this pill and already I'm going to have to stop. I've had severe diarrhea, stomach pains and loss of appetite due to the scare of having more diarrhea. And I'm having extreme nausea and am so tired,what is the point of taking something like this and its going to make you feel so bad

I have been on Loestrin 24 for 2 years!! And I am finally getting off... and so happy to find this site! I have had to be put on Topamax because my migraines became so bad, which helped my weight gain (that I attributed to my own depression that I thought was my own fault!) I didn't even realize bc could cause depression but it all makes sense! I came on here to find out if Loestrin has been the cause of my SEVERE HAIR LOSS over the past year and a half! When I started taking it, I was also going through a stressful situation and thought that was the cause, but have now realized that my life is back to normal that something else must be causing it. I tried to get my Dr. to take me off of Loestrin about a year ago due to the EXTREME nausea, dizziness, headaches and fatigue that it was causing and he decided that I should just be put on Topamax because I was just a Migraine sufferer! What a nightmare. I can't wait to switch tomorrow!!

I'm still trying to find out if my symptoms are associated with Yasmin, but I STRONGLY believe they are. I can't believe I didn't pu the pieces together sooner. I've been on Yasmin close to 4 years... it was pretty new when I started taking it for my PCOS. For the last two years (yes, two years!) I've been experiencing extreme nausea and upset stomach and my resistance to illness/allergies has been non-existent. I've noticed that I feel depressed and lack a lot of energy. My sex drive wanes... sometimes it's nill and other times I can't get enough. I've had endoscopies, colonoscopies, blood work, etc... but nothing ever came back conclusive on anything particular. After my last cycle, it took me about a week to get my new pack and guess what? I felt somewhat normal! My sex drive came back and my gastrointestinal issues subsided. I'm going to stop taking it completely and see if it solves my "mystery illnesses".

I just started taking Yasmin on Sunday, since then I have had extreme nausea, bouts of sadness and anger, and a dull headache. Last night I had such a horrible migraine my vision was blurred. I woke up this morning feeling the same way and I had no energy. Can these side effects happen this soon after starting Yasmin?

So I've been on Yaz for over 4 months now. I'm 23 years old and have never had bc before (don't need it) My GYN put me on this pill to prevent another ovarian cyst rupture. (i was hospitalized in Dec because i had a 4cm cyst on my ovary that filled with blood and ruptured. Very painful!!) so like i said, i am taking this to prevent that again since Yaz stops ovulation.

The first month was pretty rough. (like i expected) Extreme mood swings, very tender breasts, headaches, slight nausea, and my preiod was a week and a half late then lasted for 16 days and was VERY heavy.

Onto month 2: Same mood swings, breasts still extremely tender, reduced amount of headaches and my period came on the 3 placebo day and was VERY light this time lasting only a day and a half.

Month 3: No more mood swings, breasts no longer tender although bigger in size, Extreme nausea but only lasted for 4 days, and this time my period was more normal ( lasting about 5 days and not too heavy or light).

On my 4th month, things seem to be normal. GYN says i lost some weight from Yaz even though it has made me feel bloated so i thought i had gained weight. Weird. But my period seems to be on a timed clock now coming every 3rd placebo.

So like the GYN's tell you, It takes up to 3 months for your body to get used to the hormones being added to your body. Expect some side effects for a while. Everyone is different but for me the side effects diminished after the 3rd month. Hope this helps. :D

I have only been on NuvaRing for 2 weeks and I have been experiencing some pretty weird things. Three days after I put it in, I had extreme nausea for an entire night, something that has never happened to me in my entire life. Then, this past week, I have been so emotional and grumpy. I've been picking fights with my boyfriend and being impatient with people in general. I have cried 4 times in the last 5 days, which just really isn't me. I have just felt so "off," so not like my usual happy self. Then, after a potential sex session gone bad with my boyfriend tonight, I realized that my sex drive has been gone for the past week. Usually, I have a very, very high sex drive and lately I just haven't been caring whether or not it happens. My boyfriend is confused and probably more frustrated than he's letting on. I was on BC last about 2 years ago and I stopped after I lost my sex drive completely. The NuvaRing did to me in two weeks what Ortho-Tricyclin did in about a year.

Once it dawned on me that my sex drive was gone and I have been so emotional and angry, I took that thing out faster than you could blink! Haha

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one having these side effects. It's a relief to know I'm not losing my mind.

hi I'm 28 yrs old and have been diagnosed with endo. i have been taking the Lupron shot since August 07. I'm only suppose to be on them for a year. 2 weeks after my 1st shot, i started getting severe headaches w/ nosebleeds. also, I'm so exhausted all the time. after my 2nd shot i started passing out with severe headaches. i told my doc about it and she took me off the shot til i got a cat scan which came out normal. at the beginning of February 08, i was back in the er room 3x in a matter of 48 hours, thats when an ob/gyn at the hos. gave me another shot of Lupron. since i got this 3rd shot, i started having severe migraines and passing out again along with extreme exhaustion. I'm very angry my doc won't do the hysterectomy. she says, I'm too young. but the shot sends u into perimenopause, whats the difference. i was taking the hormones as well before my doctor took me off the shot but they made me really, really angry all the time. when the doc at the hos. gave me the shot, she didn't put me back on the hormones. this shot is suppose to help me but instead its ruining my life. i have severe headaches and exhaustion with the shot and severe pain without the shot. i don't know what to do. I'm not suppose to have any pain after i get off the shot for up to like months or years i was told. the shot started to where off at the end of January and i had to get it again in February when i was originally suppose to take my 3rd shot. i still have pain in my stomach, it just makes it tolerable. my other side effects r: mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats, no sex drive, extreme nausea, depression, stomach pains, swelling in my stomach, weight gain, and of course severe headaches. this is effecting my life so much. i do not recommend getting the depro lupron shot to anyone. of course everyone is different, but if the shot effects u like this, i recommend u not taking it. i will not be taking my next 1. i will be calling my doc 1st thing tomorrow morning cuz i passed out Friday with my 6 year old daughter here and no one else. i have been so afraid of this happening with my kids here and it has happened. as a mother u don't want your children to have to go thru something like that without no one else around. has anyone else had these side effects? i can live with most of them, but i can't live with the extreme exhaustion and severe headaches with passing out. thank u for listening.

I only took Levoxyl for 5 days then stopped. The first couple of days were just headaches and extreme nausea. At night I would have sweats and during the day chills. I was going to live with these side effects but then on the fourth day I started being nervous, my face was flushing and one of the veins in my leg swelled. Then on the fifth day - along with everything else I began feeling a little weakness in my muscles - but the kicker was my toes and fingers were so sore and hurt so bad I couldn't stand it. My fingers felt as if I had been typing non stop all day - first thing in the morning and all day long. I called my physician who said that Levoxyl couldn't give any of those symptoms and I was imagining it all. I WAS NOT imagining any of it! I didn't wake up and say,"oh, i want my fingers and toes to hurt all day long for no reason". He didn't like me questioning him, but I wasn't questioning him, I was questioning Levoxyl. I asked him if there were any withdrawal symptoms and he said no. So I stopped taking it. Of course, I am not symptom free yet, as I figure it will take a couple days to get out of my system. My thyroid is slow and I know I am going to need to take something - I just wonder what suggestions other people with Levoxyl have done. And if anyone who has gone off it, actually had worse problems in the withdrawal phase. I know five days isn't that much, but I think my body is very medicine sensitive and responds very well. I started taking Lisinopril about 10 months ago and now I have had severe redness and heat in my face, neck, and chest. I have constant headaches and my eyes are bloodshot most the time now. I have quick sharp pains throughout my chest arms and legs/feet a lot. I get blurry vision and disorientation every time after taking this stuff.. My heart rate varies from high to low but it feels like my blood is extremely thick no matter if I eat or not, I also get extreme nausea after eating even a salad with no dressing. I hate this stuff so much and it scares me to no end. I have major anxiety disorders anyway but this crap makes it worse. I think I am dying everyday its so nerve wrecking and I am only 25yrs old!!!! I recently stopped taking this junk for about a week but still took my Xanax for my anxiety and my face and neck aren't hot at all most the time anymore only when I move around and work a lot but not bad at all. My heart rate is normal and my blood pressure is staying about the same but maybe bout 8 or 9 notches lower than when i was on this stuff. I think someone is really going to get hurt on this stuff and we are all going to see a commercial on TV saying to call a lawyer for cash rewards because of med induced illness or even deaths... I'm going to the doctor and telling them to give me the most expensive effective and less side effect BP med..

I've been on Alesse for 3 days, and it has been 3 days of extreme nausea! Within 10 minutes of taking the pill, I'm totally green! I'm reading the comments below and I noticed that no one has mentioned nausea, has anyone experienced this within the first week? I just started to take bc pills again after being off the NuvaRing a year and a half ago.

My diet hasn't changed so it has to be the pill and it's definitely not in my head because I have a strong stoma

I had my MIRENA put in 2 months ago. Since then, even with the holidays, I have lost 11 lbs. (bringing me to 15lbs underwt.) I have had no appetite, acid reflux, extreme nausea, esophageal spasms, diarrhea, stomach cramps, headaches, and weakness. I am also still breastfeeding, so my once fatty milk now looks like water. My husband's starting thinking it was the MIRENA, because my body must think I'm pregnant again. I am going to the MD tomorrow to talk about have it taken out.

I was a size two before Yaz, my appetite increased and I went to a size 12. I had no idea what was going on, I was always hungry and irritable. If my boyfriend left for work I would cry or if I didn't get my way I would throw temper tantrums. I would feel extreme nausea and migraines. I totally disregarded this, because it did make my period lighter. When I am not on birth control I have severe cramps and nausea. It is just something you have to ask yourself. cramps for a week, or extreme weight gain with the risk of heart disease and such. I took it for 5mos. and then I quit. my breast size went down 3 cup sizes and my weight is going back to normal without any physical activity. I feel happier, I have more energy, and I am not as hungry anymore.

My story is long....I have been taking Yasmin for almost 2.5 years, since having my son. About 8 months after starting the pill we relocated to another state. About 6 months after that I began having shortness of breath and anxiety. I thought it was due to our relo, which was all positive but still those things can be stressful. My doctor thought it was anxiety and prescribed Zanax. I rarely took them...seemed like the anxiety subsided. A few months later I was back at my doctors office with extreme nausea and this crazy burning sensation down my arms and on my chest. I was diagnosed with H Pylori and treated for that and then had an endoscopy and found I had mild chronic gastritis. I was on Prevacid and then finally prescription Zantac for that. I went a few months and then the shortness of breath returned and I began having heart palpations. I then went back to my doctor. My heart rate was elevated so she sent me over to a cardiologist. He said my heart was fine. I then came down with a stomach virus, which is what I thought at the time, and ended up not taking my pill for 2 days and then began menstruating. I stayed off of it for a month and continued to have this terrible burning sensation on my skin. I started a new pill pack the next month and that's when the real hell began. I woke up around 1:30am with severe nausea and heart palpations. My husband took me to the ER - they said it was due to my stomach. I went back to see my GI doc she said that my stomach didn't cause that. I went to see my doctor b/c my GI doc thought it might be my BC pill because it just started happening after taking it again after being off of it for a month. I was sure it was the BC so I immediately stopped taking it. I had yet another period. Since stopping it, now it's been 14 days, I have had one anxiety attack after another, chest pains, shortness of breath, the burning skin, headaches, and major nausea. I can't eat or sleep. I can barely function. All my blood work, adrenal gland and thyroid tests are perfectly normal. No signs of anything wrong with me. I went to see my doctor today for a follow-up, she told me bluntly that I was mental! It was all in my head ! The pill could not cause this and I need to see a physiotherapist. I have never felt so bad physically in my life and then been kicked in the teeth so hard all in one day. I know all this is due to this drug. There is no other explanation. I am not crazy but I have a lot of people who believe I am. I am amazed at how the medical community is so uneducated and have become drug pushers and have forgotten problem solving. Thank you all for reading my story. I pray every minute that I will get through this and be normal again. All I want to do is enjoy the Christmas holidays with my family without being sick. I have had the Mirena in for about 8 mos.I love having no periods.But that is the only good thing I have found!I am 5.7" and weigh 186.I was 145 before I had my son.After I had him I was going to the gym every day and even had a personal trainer.It seems No matter what I eat good or bad I cannot lose the weight.I thought maybe it was just because I had a child, but Ive found other woman are having the same problem.Just cannot lose a pound.Until they get it removed.Before I got the Mirena I was already pretty emotional but now its ten times worse!And the acne, OMG!!! I have it so bad I am using face stuff everyday nothing is working.I have it on my face,arms,back and butt.Absolutely hideous.I feel like crap.I cant even walk in front of my husband without thinking he is thinking something bad about how I look.This has upped the depression,I am feeling like everything is screwed up in my life (but its not) its just my perception right now.I have found that the doctors look at me like I am lying to them, like its all in my head.I should print everyones blogs and show them to my doctor! It makes me mad that the medical industry will present something so perfect and screw how it effects peoples lives.I had to pay cash for the freaking thing too!That makes me even more pissed off.I want this thing out so bad.Now my husband and I are talking about vasectomy because its much easier then a tubal.Its sucks that we had to come to that.

I had my Mirena IUD put in May 1st of 2007 and all the side effects that came along with it......the constant spotting, acne, itching breasts (which I thought was due to new bras that I had just purchased), nausea, depression (which I had to go back to taking Wellbutrin), no energy; tired all the time. My biggest side effect which I have not found any others to have is Allergies. I know it sounds crazy, but I have never had problems with allergies until a month and half after getting the IUD, extreme allergy symptoms, swollen glands, neck pain, very shortness of breath; to the point that I was down for a whole day here and there, I am having to take Allegra; had to get a steroid shot. Now that it is cold, I thought I would be getting break from the allergies, nope. I joined a gym hoping that it would help in giving me energy, nope.........I have talked to my Dr and the nurses that work with my gyno and they act as if I am making this stuff up. It is very frustrating when you know that your body has done a complete 360 in the wrong direction and everyone seems to think your crazy.

Well I am having my IUD taken out as soon as I can!

Headaches, extreme nausea, virtigo, flashes of loss of vision.

I'm not 100% certain that Alesse has been causing my major health issues recently, but after going through all other tests, my doctor has suggested I stop taking it. I pray that it is the answer.
I have been on Alesse for two years, (this past Aug 2007) but it was last March that I really noticed some of the typical impacts. Moodiness, lack of a sex drive (which I missed) and then the dreaded splotches. I had these dark type of circles appear on the top of my cheeks, which appeared overnight. I soon found out that any type of birth control can cause these to appear. Great. Just great. Then I had spotting between periods, which wouldn't be so bad except they came along with those tiny tummy cramps. This didn't add much fun to my current IBS issues.
I'm diabetic (but have been for 30+ years) so it never impacted me regarding blood sugars etc.
Then along came May. I had a bad bought with IBS one morning then I had the panic attack hit at the very same time. I've never hypervenatlated before so I had no idea what was going on other than I felt like I was dying, at home, and alone. For the first time ever, I called 911 and took an ambulance trip to Emerg. After being there for a few hours, they didn't find anything and I had calmed down. Since then, I've been experiencing on different levels from '1 - 10':
- small tremors through my neck and should areas (they can worsen to the point that others can see me shake)
- burning sensation in the same area
- numbness in my jaw / face area
- fullness in my right ear
- lightheaded but not *dizzy* as if I'm going to faint
- overall not feeling right as if my head is detached
- weakness in lower body and legs
- numbness in right leg and foot (not all the time, it comes and goes)
- panic attacks when my digestive system kicks in
- lack of an appetite
- nausea (sometimes)
- a few other items which I am too tired to think of....

When I try to sleep, as soon as I feel like I'm about to doze off, I have the symptoms flood over me big time and I'm 'shaken' awake. I can also been in a deep sleep, having a pleasant dream, when if feels like someone has grabbed the back of my neck/shoulders and has shaken me violently awake. I have to sit right up and bring my knees up to my chest and try to relax myself. Sometimes I stay awake all night.

I have every test you can imagine since May, as this is ongoing with no relief. I have had a head MRI (made my tremor and head detachment feeling worse), Spine MRI, Chest CT Scan (bad reaction to the dye), colonoscopy (I'm convinced my IBS triggers the symptoms to be worse), heart monitor, blood test for thyroid (one of the first things since I'm diabetic), along with many other blood test. I have two in for Mercury and Lead poisoning, but the results aren't back yet. More and more I'm starting to believe that it's all attached to the birthcontrol, although I've been on it in the past without issues, and this time around it was just over a year and a half when these symptoms all kicked in.
If this is all caused by the bc, I will be very relieved as this has been causing me a lot of grief. Thankfully I am able to work from home on my laptop, otherwise I would be out of a job. Getting up, showered and out the door is impossible. I had one good day last weekend where I was able to go out with my very supportive and adoring boyfriend, and we fed a few squirrels in a park. It's taken away my summer so far.
I'll come back to post an update if I find that stopping Alesse has helped any.

The first few times taking this drug I had extreme nausea even though I had tolerated most previous antibiotics and pills pretty well up to this point.
I thought it was a little odd, but that it would pass.

The nausea finally did pass, but for the past two weeks I have been taking it I've been doing almost nothing but sleeping, and having extreme spells of tiredness.

Gradually every day has just gotten worse and worse than the next while on these pills. I don't want to get out of bed and lately have looked at the clock to see that I've been in bed for twelve hours at a time.

Now, I'm also in very advanced college courses. I initially attributed my sudden inaccuracy and inability to focus on the fact that I was just nervous about the courses, the material, but each day my concentration got worse, and worse and worse. It feels like I have ADD or something, which I've never had.
I felt like I was going insane when I could not even get through a page of material without wanting to jump up and shake myself around (also because of the numbness I got in my legs and arms). Not like me at all.

I have been dizzy, weak, incredibly tired and cold all the time, and entirely unable to focus all since I've started taken these pills. Unlike many of the other people's symtoms posted here, I've experienced severe chills and cold/ numbness in my whole body rather than heat? Except when I go in the sun, which then feels like I'm burning up.

Today was the last straw when I couldn't even get up out of bed, drive normally I was so dizzy, could not normally read one page of material, and the sun felt like it was burning my eyes out.

And reading some of the even worse symptoms others have had, this drug is not worth all the pain and possible permanent damage just to kill a few of these pimples.

I have been on thyroxine for about 3 years.I have been allergic to some brands, but lately every brand I try I am allergic to it.My symptoms are extreme nausea and muscle weakness ,off to g p on Monday to try to get him to belive meCAN ANYONE HELP.

In the fall of 2004 I was given levaquin to treat an infection in my colon -- this was as a follow up to hospitalization where I was given 2 other antibiotics (don't recall the names)

After I was discharged for the hospital I came home feeling great--seems that the infection in colon had been there for some time and had definitely ran me down.

I was taking the Levaquin daily as instructed and wanted to complete the treatment as recommended with Antibiotics. During this time, my stomach was giving me fits...I literally had an upset stomach continuously while on the Levaquin.

Aside from the stomach problems, I felt great--until one day all of a sudden it was like something snapped in my head. I began feeling a steady pressure and it felt like I was underwater.

My nerves literally went haywire...I could not sleep, I could not eat anything without having extreme nausea. I paced the floor for 5 solid days and nights without any sleep. I was hearing things...and the worst experiences was the panic attack like symptoms. I ended up going to the emergency room 5 times thinking I was having a heart attack.

My heart would race and my BP was so high in some cases the auto-cuffs would blow off my arm.

All that stuff started in 2004 and since then I have been under treatment for depression and generalized anxiety disorder with panic attacks. I have lost feeling in my hands..down the side of my legs, and I still experience either constipation or explosive diarrhea-- It is usually one or the other--there doesn't seem to be a normal BM anymore.

If I do not take the anti-anxiety drugs I have been given then I will experience large muscle tremors.

I don't know that Levaquin did this to me but I find it highly unlikely that I could feel great and then all of a sudden I'm in an advanced state of clinical depression-- In one day's time???

I have also noticed that I can't concentrate like I used to do...I have actually been eating and will ask my Girlfriend what we are having for dinner. My gosh--I'm sitting there eating the stuff and don't even realize it.

I'm 42 years old and ever since I took Levaquin my life has been a constant living hell.

First off, I am so relieved to have found this website and to have figured out that i am not going crazy...
This whole thing started off right away when i started to use NuvaRing.
I think by the second day that i was on it I was in the metro and when the metro reached the next stop the doors didn't open right away and i started to have an intense panic attack feeling like i was trapped and became extremly nauseous... worse then i've ever had in my whole life... I didn't know what was wrong with me and for the past two weeks i thought that my life would never be the same and that i would live like this forever...

I tried so hard from when this started to happen to me to try and figure out what was wrong and i couldn't think of anything that could cause me to feel this way... Then this morning it hit me that it could be the new birth control that i was taking and i started to research and found this:)

I've also experienced extreme nausea and lack of sleep... also sometimes i would feel extemely hungry and sometimes i would feel like i couldn't even look at food. My breasts have been hurting a lot; like when i'm on my period... and i've had terrible mood swings and a lack of patience.

Recently terrible depression has started to occur to the point where i even thought about killing myself which is something that i have never thought seriously about in my life...

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS HAS ALL BEEN IN ONLY A PERIOD OF 2 WEEKS!

this thing is terrible and i would never reccomend for anybody to begin taking it. It should be taken off the market.
