I heard about this on NPR on Friday morning and cannot believe what all I have read about to date. We have been to so many psychologists, psychiatrists, play therapists, neurology, allergy, and so forth trying to explain her behavior. We have had so many different theories thrown our way that it's hard to know what to believe anymore. Not one medical professional noted that her allergy meds could be partly to blame. After I listened to the initial report, I was talking to my small circle of friends about some of the problems we have been experiencing with our daughter for years. Everyone that I have spoken with that has children on Singulair all complain of similar problems in their children- they say they wish they weren't alive, show extreme rage , hate to be alone, etc. I am no medical professional, but I cannot afford to see if this isn't what is causing our daughter's behavior. Certainly after reading these postings I'm even more convinced about the connections. I would be remiss if I followed my pediatrician's advice and continued her on Singulair. Finally, I see some light at the end of this long tunnel and I no longer feel so isolated.

I've been on Effexor XR 75mg for 8 months with multiple side effects; headache (feels like the top of my head will blow), stomach pains, constant nausea, excessive sweating, body tremors & a skin rash that started on my chest and has moved to my back, arms & on my scalp. The rash has to be an allergic reaction to this medication. I have went through 3 rounds of antibiotics with absolutely no response. After reading the side effects of Effexor, I am going off this drug - cold turkey. I am on day 6. You name the withdrawal symptom I have experienced them!! eg:Excessive swings in body temps- I am either sweating or chilling to the point I have to get in hot tub to stop shaking, Brain zaps, severe nausea. unending diarrhea - still hitting on day 6, nightmares, heart racing, extreme rage but I feel things are a little better today. I am sticking with this until the end. If you are contemplating getting off this drug you should talk to your doctor and keep in mind days 3 thru 6 will be the worst of the withdrawal so be ready to lock yourself in your home for about a week with hot & cold drinks(tea & 7up) blankets and pray for help to see you through.

I am so glad I am a research junkie, and that you all posted this for me to find. I just started on Lamictal about 3 weeks to one month ago. I just increased the dose to 100mg at night along with 150 mg of Wellbutrin XL. So far I have experienced hair loss, constant fatigue, excessive yawning, hacking cough, stuffy nose, dizziness, acne on my back, shoulders and face, terrible nightmares, waking with my heart pounding in the middle of the night, extreme rage, continued depression with racing thoughts, lack of energy/desire, general mental fuzziness and some trouble expressing myself verbally and literally.
I have tried several times to contact the doctor who prescribed this for me. But I can't get him to call me back. I desperately want to get off of this drug as soon as possible. That heart episode the other night nearly scared me to death! I didn't know what to do.
I was diagnosed with bipolar, but I still believe it's depression. I hope that I can get it figured out here soon before things get even worse. I had increased my level of exercise initially but for the last week I have been so tired and out of it I don't want to do anything.
Good luck to all of you as well, hopefully they'll get better at these treatments eventually!

I had the Mirena put in 2 1/2 years ago. About six months after having my first child. At first I bleed for a month straight. It was painful to have it put in but I'm usually a wimp with that type of stuff. After the first month my periods become lighter and then not at all. At first it seemed virtually unnoticeable. But my boyfriend starting saying he could feel something poking him during sex. I also do have the worst back pain that seemed to start after having the Mirena put in. I also have acne, stomach flutters, and nausea.I also experienced anxiety and panic attacks. However, I think they were associated with my job because once I left that job my anxiety decreased. I don't know if any of these symptoms have to do with Mirena but they aren't really that bothersome. Well the back is but it's mostly in the upper back and neck area and I think it has to do with stress. I do fight with my boyfriend a lot. But unlike many others have said I don't experience rage or yell at him for no good reason. We fight cause he is a lazy jerk and that's that. LOL So all in all my experience has been pleasant but have something foreign inside of me scares me. Like many others have said, I think it's important to take all factors into account. We all get a little crazy and stressed out. :)
