Hey this is Kitykittysno and i just posted the first time the other evening. I have since talked with my doc about all of this and he believes that trying to come off Lamictal is just not working for me bc of all the symptoms I'm having as a result of it. SO...we're gonna take me back to 400 mg BUT this time, I'm gonna intermittently take them. Start like at 8a, 12p, 4p, 8p. I'm willing to try this bc I feel so awful so we'll see. HOWEVER, I did specifically ask him about these "side effects" and he did not denounce them but he did say, "that in his years of practice, he had not had a patient with these problems"....he told me that bc of other meds I take and with the severe anxiety I suffer with, that that has a lot to do with the memory probs and as far as they eyes, he feels it may just be age (im only 42) and I need to see my eye doctor. I am planning on doing that asap. BUT...for me, I'm really inclined to believe this has to do with Lamictal.
My doctor is a great guy...I don't think he's trying to dismiss me or my thoughts and feelings about Lamictal but...how do you explain it unless you've been there or are STILL there??? How can I be having such significant memory loss and deteriorating eye problems if not for L? I did ask him if there was somewhere I could go to just safely detox off this stuff and he said he was not aware of any place that knows how to safely take someone through that process. I think I will do what someone said in here about just slowly decreasing it yourself and suffer the "hell" until it's out of your body. I have no problem(s) taking any meds that will help my condition but there has to be SOMETHING that works better than this. I am very curious to see if taking this intermittently will help with the "drop off" feeling I usually get around 5p and also if it helps with the memory part. I dunno folks...I wish I had more answers than questions while posting in here. I welcome any advice or comments.
I want all of you in here to know that since I found this site, I've been praying for all of you. I'm sorry if that offends some but I believe in the power of prayer!

Googled and found this site. Could not believe all that I read! I've been taking Lamictal for several years for Bi-Polar disorder. I also have GAD for which I control with another drug BUT...I guess it's been so long since I began taking Lamictal that I had forgotten, or did I ever even know, the side effects of it. First if all, the memory loss is incredible! Not being able to complete a sentence...never able to find a "word" that should be so simple to remember...going somewhere and within 2 seconds, forgetting what in the world I'm doing or where I'm going...happened today TWICE!
And to top it all off, my eyes are so bad...I didn't even attribute the L to this until I came to this site but it makes PERFECT sense! I feel such a sense of loss in my eyesight that it has begun to really scare me. I have not been to eye doc yet but plan too.
Also, someone mentioned in here that they feel the med just wears off before next dosage and that is exactly what I've been telling my doctor so at first, we just upped the dosage until I was on 450mg a day but even the, it still was not working. SO...now I'm decreasing and the doc added Depakote Er 250mg. But doc says I have to be almost completely off L to get fully on D. So...feel like crap a lot of the time!!
I'm like someone else on here who said, "just start fresh" and that is what I'd like to do but how do you go "cold turkey"? I know it isn't good! Even decreasing this L for the last several months has been hell!
I have been on a roller coaster of meds for 10 yrs. Have yet to find the "combo" that works! Sometimes I wonder if the diagnosis of BP was/is even correct.
Another person in here said he feels like he may have some side effects of OCD and I feel that way too. Nothing major but...enough for me to notice.
Damned either way, right?
One thing I DO KNOW is that I cannot take this eye problem anymore and now that I know my memory and all that other stuff has to do with L, I'm getting off it no matter what! I'm calling my doc tomorrow and we HAVE TO MAKE A PLAN!!!!!!!
I'm only 42 but my memory is that of an 80-yr old (except for my grandmother who died at 96 and could remember details of when she was 4 yrs old...lol) I guess it's good I can kinda laugh at all this but I DEF know it is not funny!!!
Anybody out there with insight to diff. meds...combo of meds?? I really am worn out!!
Right now, I am down to 375 mg of L and this has taken me several months now to decrease from 450mg...don't see the D working that well yet but it's only 250mg so...
I really am worn out!! My anxiety shoots through the roof bc of all of this! Esp. when I feel the L wearing off around 5p or so...
I'm game for any advice ( I did see where the one woman talked about changing the time you take this in the morning but that won't work for me)
Thanks!!

I had a kidney transplant feb08. I was put on prednisone as a rejection med. So far, i have gained 50 lbs, my hair has fallen out, had mood swings when first put on it. Haven't noticed them lately, have little bumps under my skin, not acne, have started noticing slight breathing problems, when trying to walk to lose the weight. Yesterday I was diagnosed with cataract. Eye doctor said that it is another side effect of the med. I am under the impression that, I am on this for rest of my life. Whats next?

i was given these eye drops after cataract surgery. blurred vision occurred along with severe pain on the whole side of my face into my jaw. twice back to eye doctor with no results. onto family doc. she diagnosed trigeminal neuralgia. had bad taste in month, down throat. reported these symptoms to eye doctor with no results. when i called and told them results from family doc. then was told to stop the use but i had already done so as it was usually the last drop i put in with the application of the other three types of drops i am using that had no bad affects.

I've been on Lantus for about a year now and never tied things together till reading this. Ive had horrendously blurred vision though the eye doc says my prescription hasn't changed. I have bad bad backaches, and though my A1C is right at 6....my morning blood sugars run 130 to 185. At no other time of day is my blood sugar over 110. I don't understand this. WHY would a bedtime blood sugar be 75-90 at 9 pm.......and at 3am is over 140? Its like the Lantus does nothing. I just don't like the side effects with this stuff.

I have had Mirena for 6 months and things seem to be getting worse. I am now bloated (yesterday was bad), and my period lasts for almost 10 days now and counting even though it is light. I am also moody and tired. I have not been able to lose one single pound from pregnancy since it was inserted. Now I am wondering if my eye problems could be related -I have had dry eye and blurry eyes and my eye doc thought Mirena could have something to do with it since the timing is similar? Anyone had eye/contact problems?
I thought this birth control was so great until recently!! and I hate the pill, and I've tried almost everything else (patch, ring, different pills) what else is there??

This is about Blepharitis, a very uncomfortable eye/eyelid condition of unkown origin. I was diagnosed with blepharities a couple of months after starting to take Singulair 10 mg. I have also experienced weight gain and severe depression. Also experienced extreme sensitivity to light, compulsive blinking (tic-like behavior) of the eyelids. The eye doc told me I might have to get bo-tox injections to stop my eyelids from blinking. Today it occurred to me to research here and other places whether the singulair could have caused the eye condition. I have seen enough here to make me decide to discontinue the Singulair for a few days. I have been taking it in the morning, and I have noticed that my symptoms have been minimal in the morning before taking the pill, and have been at their peak about three hours after taking the pill. Unfortunately, I have already taken the tablet today, so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to begin the experiment. This is the first time I have put all this together and realized there is a strong possibility of a conneciton.

I am so glad that I found this site, my son is 5 1/2 and has been taking Singulair since he was two. It works, but the side effects are not worth it. He is our first child so we attributed his behavior to the terrible two's, terrible three's when he started pre-k we thought it was immaturity, now he is in kindergarten and the teacher reports restlessness, inability to concentrate, clumsiness, all types of issues that could be related to ADHD. We were about to start the process to see if he had ADHD when I found this website. He has been off of the med for two weeks today. He went to the pediatrician, eye doc and allergist. All say he is in good health and that he can sit still for their exams, doubting ADHD. The pediatrician wants us to wait another two weeks and then look at his behavior in school and see if it has changed. It's hard to get an ideas as to how long before the effects of the pill will wear off. I have read entries that say one day, to entries that say up to 6 months. I have seen a change at home, he states he is less "squirmy." The allergist says that this effect on children is rare, but he did admit that it happens. He has seen 3 cases in 6 years.

-Cataracts-Iwas 41 and taken Seroquel 3 yrs-at the time of beginning I had an eye check (just was time, nothing to do with starting S) and all was fine. 3 Yrs later my eye doc was surprised to see I had developed cataracts which is not common in younger person. They do not run in family. I will never know for sure, but seems to me it would take a long time for the connection to be made. How many people have taken it and not had eye exam? They may get cataracts, and not make connection. I have found 2 other women online with same thing. It also caused them in dogs. Tolerated it well otherwise, but discontinued. I would urge anyone who has taken it for a length of time to get full dilation eye exam. I had implants now and many problems. If anyone has had this happen please let me know. Linda
