I am 23 years old and have been on Yasmin for approx 9 months now...at first I experienced the most horrific migraine - I felt as if my head was literally exploding. I informed my doctor who just instructed the nurse to check my blood pressure regularly. The readings were fine and I didn't have that side effect again.

This past week though I have been uncontrollably tired..going to visit family etc and heading straight for the bedroom to sleep. I thought perhaps i've just been working too hard. Then I woke up with swollen, itchy eyes and a rash on my eyelids which i put down to the weather. A few nights ago I started having chest pains. Every time I took a breath I could feel it deep in my lungs and it was so painful. It felt like my chest was tightening and I couldn't breathe. This morning I am still in pain and it hurts when I breathe - I thought perhaps I was developing asthma!

I decided to check the internet for my symptoms and came across this site...now I am stopping this Yasmin immediately. I probably should have been more weary after my migraine experience but the doctor made me feel as if it was all okay and not directly linked to Yasmin. I was only put on Yasmin to help with my irregular, heavy and extremely painful periods, but for me it is not worth it at all.

Thank you to all for sharing as it has helped me to identify what is causing me problems.

I too had bad rash experiences with Wellbutrin. I was on it maybe 3 weeks when all of a sudden, I started getting hives on my stomach and neck. Also my eyelids and lips blew up and i even went to the emergency room one day when the whole left side of my face felt swollen up like a balloon.
I was shocked when my doctor didn't think it was the Wellbutrin since that was the only thing that had changed recently.
Suffice to say, without her recommendation, I stopped taking Wellbutrin and have not had those symptoms again -- and it's a full year later!

I have been on Effexor for about 5 years. I had to stop using it suddenly when I became pregnant and the withdrawal was HORRIBLE (the inside of my eyelids felt like sandpaper and I actually heard my eyeballs scratching against it). Immediately after I stopped breastfeeding my son, I started it again. Within a few weeks, I felt so much better, my house was cleaned regularly, I stopped biting my nails, I lost and kept the pregnancy weight off and my libido did not suffer one iota. Unfortunately, my medical coverage lapsed and I cannot afford to refill the prescription. The sandpaper eyelids came back, my nails are bitten down to the quick, and I have no desire to take care of anything. The pharmacies are giving out free antibiotics ... but people who cant afford much needed medication have to suffer. I would rather have the flu than deal with not having Effexor.

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has had the onset of urinary symptoms since having the Mirena coil fitted, particularly urinary urgency.I would like to know about your experiences and what action you have taken to get help for your urinary symptoms. It would be interesting to know if you can specifically date symptoms to after the coil was fitted and if you have suffered urgency prior to the Mirena.

My Mom (87) who was in great health given her age, was given Avelox for a urinary tract infection. She has developed severe side effects that include shortness of breath, chest pressure, (not chest pain)swelling of her esophagus & eye lids, confusion/agitation, dry mouth, complaints of twitching in her mouth.
The worse case of all the symptoms has been the swelling of the esophagus and eyelids. Her eyes are swollen shut and she labors to swallow & talk. Eating is a monumental task.
She is currently hospitalized and the medical team seems to be having a hard time accepting this as an allergic reaction to the Avelox. They have run series of tests to look for other things such as pnuenomina, heart issues and stroke issues. So far the tests have revealed nothing out of the ordinary. One would think that they would start treatment with steroids or another anti-allergic treatment but they seemed convinced that the Avelox is a non issue because she only took 2 doses @ 400 mg each starting Saturday & Sunday (11/29-30). This ordeal started Sunday early evening.
If anyone else has experienced specifically swelling of the throat & eyes please post!

I was put on Singulair about three weeks ago, and noticed immediately that my mood had changed. I am an adult ,and felt this sense of sadness, anxiety, solitude, not wanting to be around anyone. I took myself off the drug and have tics all over my body and eyelids ,which is driving me crazy! I even had heart palpitations ,which are very distressing. Today it seems to be better, and this is day three off the med. The only way I can explain how I felt on this drug is doom and gloom.

So far I haven't seen anything in regards to my symptoms with Yasmin.

After going the past two years and having only two periods, I was diagnosed with PCOS. My Gyno told me that the only way I would be able to have a period, and delay the harmful side effects of this disorder would be to go on Yasmin. I agree that my mood swings the 1st month were terrible. I almost punched my own mother in the face because I didn't like one of her jokes. That's not me. But that is something common with BC. They are hormones your body takes in to regulate your cycle. And because my body doesn't' regularly produce the hormones needed for menses, I expected mood swings. The catastrophic depression and PMS were the main reasons I stopped taking the pill years ago.

My problem is a bit different. I haven't gained weight. As a matter of fact, I think I've lost a bit. My problem is my skin. Before the pill, I had flawless skin. It was always really sensitive, but because I was cognizant of this fact, I took every preventative measure to ensure its healthy appearance. But now my skin in a mess. I have a rash spreading all over my body. My eyelids have a hard crushed rash of skin folding over, and my under-eyes are the same way. All across my face, I now have raised red patches of skin that burn, and the only change I've made to my daily care regimen is popping that little pill every night. The rash is now spreading to my shoulders and a bit on my legs.

Has anyone else developed skin problems, or could this all just be coincidental in my case?

I went to my primary doctor last Wednesday. He gave me samples for a 5 day regime of Avelox to treat a head/chest cold. Well, the cold does seem a little better, but, I would have never traded that to the side effects I am experiencing now! I took my first daily dose of Avelox last Wednesday. On Friday I thought I had dry skin. By Sunday I was itching so bad that it was almost unbearable. My eyelids are itching, burning and swollen, my forehead looks sunburned from the itching and scratching, my chest, stomach, back and thighs feel tingly and are itching NONSTOP. I am taking an antihistamine, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. I hope this goes away. I cannot imagine what this drug does to people that have allergies and sensitivities to medications. I have never experienced an adverse reaction to medications before this. I would never recommend this drug to anyone.

I just had my Mirena removed today because of some ridiculous side effects (and a couple other reasons). The side effects I had were - fatigue, nausea, headaches, NO SEX DRIVE AT ALL, vaginal dryness, hot flashes...

MY question is - about an hour after I had it removed I began to get tired. I mean REALLY tired - hard to keep my eyelids up kind of tired. Is this normal? Will this extreme fatigue pass soon?

I'm an adult female with severe sinus polyps, adult onset asthma and allergies. Initially Singular seemed to be helping my nasal polyps, when nothing else helped in any way. I made several attempts to use Singular, and proved repeatedly that this medication did, in fact, cause me severe side effects - even when I used a childs dosage. While using an adult rx for Singular, I immediately began experiencing horrific nightmares (which I have never had in my entire life). I also had extreme knife like pains in both ears, which made me feel like I had a severe ear infection, chest pains where it felt like a cinder block was lying on my chest, and migraine like headaches (which I've never had). I stopped the medication after about a week and the nightmares went completely away, but it took me a couple weeks to recover completely because I developed what felt like a respiratory infection and ear infection as soon as I stopped using it. Because Singular seemed to slightly reduce my nasal polyps on my first attempt, my allergist suggested I try using it again - almost a year later. When I first began, I completely forgot about the negative side effect and why I stopped using it in the first place, and just gave it another try. I again experienced the same horrific nightmares, ear pains, but this time got a strange rash/cluster of blisters under both eyelids which my eye doctor confirmed was an allergic reaction to something I was using. Singular was the only medication I had changed. My allergist thought I should give it longer to see if the symptoms went away (because they probably weren't caused by this medication - and were due to something else ???). Fearing going to sleep, I decided to try taking the medication in the morning instead of night, and had my physician reduce my rx to a childs dosage (5mg). The nightmares lessened, and the blisters under my eyelids went down, so I continued using Singular for about a years time. What I didn't realize, was that over this time I was becoming depressed, fatigued, and became easily agitated and short-tempered, which was very different since I was normally a very happy, energetic mom. My nasal breathing seemed to be slightly improved, so I just kept taking the medication - not realizing that it was causing all of the other problems I was experiencing. I became so fatigued and depressed feeling, that all I wanted to do after I got my kids off to school was to sleep until it was time to pick them up in the afternoon. I was also experiencing stomach pains for unknown reasons. I was certainly not myself. I didn't realize that while I was using Singular I had lost complete interest in everything that I normally loved in my life. And please note I'm 45 years old, and I was using a childs dosage. ( I can only imagine what this medication does to a child. )Fortunately for me, I accidentally forgot to refill my prescription for a few days and noticed that my depression started to improve. I decided not to refill my rx and stay off it to see if I continued to improve - and I have. Unfortunately, even though my depression has all but gone away, I'm experiencing symptoms which must be from withdrawal of the medication - and they are just as scary as the side effects were. Now that I'm not taking Singulair any more (and I've made no other medication changes), I have extreme fatigue beyond belief, and ache everywhere. My muscles are in such pain that I'm having difficulty doing things I would normally do. I have extreme weakness in both arms and legs, and my back aches almost constantly. And strangly enough, my asthma and allergies have slightly improved since stopping Singular - I thought for sure my allergies/asthma would worsen when I stopped completely - but they did not. All I can say is - please trust what your body is telling you - even if your physician tells you otherwise, and do not use this medication or any other if you experience adverse side effects to it. I would never give this medication to a child that wasn't old enough to tell me what he/she was experiencing, and would document the childs temperament, ailments if any, and what changed once the medication was started - and discontinue it immediately if even one adverse side effects occurred. One last note - I am still experiencing vision problems, which I feel are due to using this medication. Hopefully, no other permanent damage to my body will result from the Singular that I've already used - and I hope you Singular users will recover completely too from its dangerous side effects. Wishing you the best of health!

I just finished a 10 day (4xday) prescription of Flagyl (250 mg) prescribed by my Gastro doctor for treatment of (SIBO) Severe Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth. Two days after finishing Flagyl I broke out in hives all over my body and my upper eyelids were very swollen. Now my dermatologist has me on Zyrtec and Prednisone. Has anyone broken out with hives and had swollen eyes from taking Flagyl?

I have been on the NUVARing for 2 years and I'm 25. About 5 months ago I started having really really bad DRY EYE PROBLEMS. I have been to the ophthalmologist and I've been on restasis, refresh plus, Lotomax, and other ointment I put on my eyelids at night. The eye problem isn't getting much better. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, I use to have super thick curly hair. I lose about a handful of hair a week and I don't think this is normal anymore.

I'm wondering if it is time to take out the ring. Any advice?

I'm 55, Female, and have been on hbp meds for a long time. i take atenelol and lisinopril. they are both the affordable meds that seem to keep my bp in pretty good check. only problem is that i have been feeling sooo badly that i got on here to check out the side effects of these drugs i'm on. i hurt all over, i'm gaining weight, can't seem to lose, i'm constantly fatigued, depressed, very low energy, want to sleep all the time, feel like sand bags hanging on my eyelids all day, sweat profusely till it looks like i've just stepped out of the shower and haven't dried my face off yet which is very unattractive and i also have the reddest rashy cheeks. after reading the side effects of both meds i'm on, i'm very tempted to cut them in half or discontinue them. only problem is that i'll prob die of a heart attack because of high bp. i also have trouble with my blood sugar dropping to the 60's sometimes. i feel like if i continue feeling like this, i'll be checking out soon...any comments??

Mirena history

As I neared 50 years of age, my birth control pills no longer controlled my periods, I began to bleed more and more till I was having periods lasting 2 weeks, with needing to wear 2 super tampons and a pad at the same time and having to change this every 30 minutes to an hour. This was not good for sleep or normal life.

A gynecologist recommended mirena. It really helped knock back the heavy periods and let me leave the house, even plan vacations! But I did put on weight and lost my sex drive, which I attributed to eating more and to my husband not looking very hunky any longer.

After 4 years of this, the last year spent with a gym membership which I used daily and lost no weight, but I am shapelier, well as I was saying, after 4 years, the periods were getting worse again, probably because the mirena had run out. I started getting headaches too. I had a ultrasound and found one of my ovaries is still working so no menopause yet.
I had a new mirena inserted. Of course it hurts. but only for a short time.

Now, after 3 weeks, I am bloated. my leg veins are poking out of my legs. Even the hairs on my legs look like they are standing up all the time, an my eyeballs feel pressure. My eyelids must be swollen too because my eyelashes are pointing down rather than their usual curve upwards,(had a gutatta discovered in my eyes last year when I asked for laser eye surgery, but was turned down due to this problem, maybe caused by Mirena?) and I have strange rashes on the back of my calves and the back of my upper arms, possible acne but I don't know. Doctor appointment is next week for a checkup. I don't know if the benefit on not bleeding so profusely outweighs the side-effects, and with a vacation next month, I am afraid to have the mirena removed.

My insurance paid for the mirena because I have it for health reasons rather than birth control.

Just got prescribed Bactrim today for a URI. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and am very sensitive to ANY medications anyway. THANK GOD I had the brains enough to be cautious and only take a 1/2 of a tablet (I am the butt of many jokes in my family because I am almost medication-phobic due to side effects) but I just took a 1/2 a tablet and 11 hours after taking it, I have a swollen face, eyelids, etc., a bloodshot eye, nasal passages are swollen completely shut, have heart palpitations, and my urine is BROWN. Yes, BROWN. OMG I am not taking another pill, it should be removed from the market. You all know that SOME day, we'll be seeing some attorney commercial on TV asking for people that have been injured/death from side effects of this drug......unbelievable doctors are still prescribing this as I believe they've got to be getting complaints about it all the time. I had a friend that worked for a doctor and she told me that SOME doctors push certain drugs to their patients based on the good "perks" the drug reps give their office (lunches for staff, vacations for doctors, etc) shouldn't be that way but is for compensation for prescribing their drugs more than a competitors. Sad. Pray for me no long-term damage has been done.

Has anyone had any eye twitching? I had Mirena inserted early December. In addition to the swelling to which I looked like I could burst (eyelids included) I've had an eye twitch for the last 6 weeks.

Rash began on hands and feet and spread all over including eyelids. Swelling in hands and feet with tingles like severe pins and needles. Bloating and hunger pains 24/7 then agitation and now depression. Lastly, I have lost half my hair and have a huge bald spot on top of my head. Ohh also tight pain in chest so severe I have an EKG tomorrow.

Here is the link to the information about vitamin deficiency and medications. You can search different types of meds so I hope it is helpful...this is where I was able to go through and figure out which vitamins would be useful for me to take to help with the side effects. Now this is good because these are vitamins that Topamax is absorbing ouot of your body so all you are doing is replenishing it into your body to help prevent the side effects. The only side effects that I couldn't really find a vitamin for was the eye strain (and after asking the pharmacist she said that is a nerve thing so there wouldn't be anything) if you are having that, and the weight loss. Hope this is helpful. I have been searching since my first post hoping I could find the link...

Let me just start off by saying that I have not had any allergic reactions to medications before. I don't have allergies to any foods or external stimuli like dust or pollen. But literally two minutes after taking Avelox, I started sneezing uncontrollably. Then my nose filled with mucus and I started itching all over my body, most notably on my arms, legs, and scalp. Then I felt that my skin was burning. I looked in the mirror and my face and body were bright pink. I called the pharmacist and she told me to take Benadryl and if my throat started to close up I should go to the hospital. Well, I didn't have any Benadryl, because I don't have any allergies, so I had to drive three blocks to the CVS. At this point, my face is starting to swell up: my eyelids, my nose, my lips and my ears are twice their normal size. I have hives all over my arms and legs. I'm shaking because I feel so cold--my body temperature was only 94 degrees. I took two Benadryl but it didn't really work until I took the 2nd dose four hours later. I ended up at the hospital because I felt like there was something stuck in my throat and was unsure whether that meant that my throat was closing up, but they were so busy that I never made it past triage, where my blood pressure was only 80/40 and my heart rate was 120. We waited in the waiting room until I was able to take the second dose of Benadryl and left. All this after only one dose. I would advise extreme caution with Avelox.

I have been on Singulair for just over a year now and I never thought I had any side effects from it until my fiance told me I shouldn't stay on a tablet for too long and to check on the net for the dangers, so I found this site. I said I have not had any side effects but having read a number of side effects experience from other people I can now recall within the last year telling my fiance:
1) Lately I feel like I am nearly going to have a panic attack, only sometimes and I don't know what brings on this thought.
2) Sometimes I stop eating something because I get this sudden thought in my head that I am allergic to it and my throat will swell up, and I start convincing myself my throat is swelling a little bit, and then I feel like I am going to have a panic attack
3) I experience the itchy hands every few months, and itchy eyes
4) Two weeks ago I took two days off work because I was so lethargic and so unmotivated, went to the doctor and he could not explain why I felt like that. The same week I was feeling very depressed.
5) I had a huge row a few months back with my fiance and for the first time in my life the thought came into my head about what it would be like to commit suicide, I wouldn't do it, but the fact I was curious is scary
6) I have strange dreams all the time, and now I recall that when I started singularity I knew this was a side effect and accepted it
7) Here is a new one, not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but in the last year I have suddenly become allergic to things I was never allergic to before. Or perhaps I always was with no symptoms but suddenly I have symptoms which involve swelling of the eyelids and red patches on my face, caused by cherries, or a rice I bought in marks and spenders. Never had allergies like this before and these two arose in the last two years. Also every time I take a shower I have a temporary red rash on my legs afterwards, doesn't matter what shower gel I use, its like I have an allergy to hot water.
8) And finally, has anyone else suddenly developed psoriasis, I developed it just 6 months ago, couldnt link it to anything but now I am writing all this down it comes to mind maybe its the Singulair two.

I cannot believe 10 minutes ago I just told my fiance I can take this tablet forever, its completely natural.

I have been on this disgusting drug for three weeks and today I ended up in the ER. I was prescribed Flonase and Singulair for allergies. I didn't have actual allergy symptoms but I kept getting sinus infections. Like many others posting I did not look at the side effects until right now. I have blurred vision, red itchy eyes (I constantly look stoned), pasty puffy eyes, cannot wear contact lenses anymore, body aches, ringing in my ears, and disorientation. I had a terrible reaction at work today. I started feeling like I couldn't breathe, then like I might pass out, and then started shaking uncontrollably. I'm disgusted that this drug is even on the market b/c it is ruining my quality of life and that of so many other people. I'm 27 years old and I have never felt so lethargic and unmotivated. I struggle to keep up at work (I'm a social worker) and the doctors at the ER asked me if I have anxiety attacks. I never have had one in my life and am normally energetic. I feel so weak right now that I am barely able to hold a bowl of soup and eat. Thanks for posting and spread the word about this awful drug!

27 yr old healthy male. Have red-irritated eyes, occasional sneeze and runny nose, live in Denver (highly polluted). Come to think about it, never started having symptoms until after about 1 yr of living here. Symptoms have persisted for 2 yrs now. Maybe I should move?

doctor thought was allergies, so tried: Patanol, Singulair, Claritin, Duramist = no help. Eyes are still itchy, eyelids are embarrassingly red (I look like I'm high all the time). After 4 months on Singulair, noticed significant weight gain, dehydration, and sensitivity to light. Couldn't work out, play paint ball. Urine was always dark yellow. Singulair seemed to help at first, but as time went on, symptoms were worse and had additional problems, weight gain, etc. Things seemed to be spiraling out of control, and I am really depressed b/c there seems to be no solution.

I complained of some loss of vision (i.e. blurriness, hard to focus), so doctor sent me to ophthalmologist. They prescribed glasses and said I have dry eye like that person posted on Nov 18th. They told me to wash my eyes with baby soap. No help! These people have no idea what to do, I got fed up and quite taking Singulair after reading this website. I hope to lose weight and start working out again. I can't believe that doctors prescribe Singulair and have no idea (NO IDEA!) of all of us who must suffer from this terrible drug.

I don't do drugs, drink occasionally and have really cut down trying to get this problem solved. I have become sensitive to caffeine, if I drink coffee, my eyes hurt so bad, I can hardly keep them open. I'm going to do as much research as I can to find a solution. I trusted my doctors - bad idea!

Numbness in legs and hands, weakness? the spoon in my hand didn't feel right to eat, agitated, high blood pressure, chest pains, sinus infection,
face very numb, started at the lip within 12 hours it was spreading up my face, my eyelids felt so heavy.........I went to the Dr.. he said I had sinus infection, I asked about the numbness, he said Januvia had nothing to do with it!

I left feeling like I was going crazy why all these symptoms and JANUVIA was SAFE, A MIRACLE DRUG WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS BUT A SORE THROAT!

I called 2 other doctors to verify. My dose was due, I skipped it , 4 hrs. later I started noticing a difference
