I have been on Topamax 4 weeks. I see why they call it Dopamax and Stupamax. Fortunately I work with some pretty stupid people so no one has noticed yet that I am not on top of my game. I am no longer practicing as a nurse, therefore I don't endanger people in my job, so its safe to be dumb and ride out these side effects. I have read lots of the experiences of others and have noticed over the past 4 weeks as I have increased my dose gradually from 25 mg to 100 mg that the side effects have A) changed in quality and intensity and B) been transient and some are wearing off altogether. At first, on 25mg, I couldn't hold my eyes open and I could barely make a sentence. At 50mg I had to call into work one day because I was so gorked. By the time I got to 75mg I was hyped up, charging around the house cleaning, just a little dingy and forgetful, but a powerhouse of energy and no headache at all. Something I didn't expect was the very pleasant side effect of it making me feel as if I had taken an antianxiety medication all the time. This is great because I have a high stress occupation. I overeat and am a little overweight, I need to lose about 40lbs. Now food looks larger and I don't want to clean my plate. I miss diet Pepsi but I am going to group therapy for that (j/k). Granted the dizziness, forgetfulness and word finding problems really stink, but I have seen such an improvement in the side effects in such a short period of time its worth it to me to stick it out. I was having severe, incapacitating migraines about twice a week and less severe ones the other five days of the week. I haven't had a headache in over 2 weeks. My experience over the past 4 weeks is that having patience with the side effects and depending on others to be understanding and supportive, swallowing my pride and being ok with looking a little or a lot goofy for a few weeks while this med has gotten into my system has really started to pay off!

I forgot to add this... Since taking the drug I'm so tired that I can barely keep my eyes open and most of the time if I'm home I do fall asleep. I can help it. I have no control over this. I even have a full nights sleep and have this problem and it seems the better I sleep at night the worse it is during the day. I asked my doctor about this and she had nothing to say in regards to this problem. I'm so tired at work that I can't concentrate.

I started taking this drug and after 3 pills I found I couldn't sleep at night. I literally sat there with my eyes open at 5 in the morning. I didn't sleep at all. I also found that I was having sweats and feeling generally out of sorts. My heart was also racing. I discussed this with my doctor and got off the drug.

Ive been using NR since january. I got diagnosed with migranes about 2 years ago so when i started getting them frequently i figured id just go back to my doctor to find something else to help. Ive tried about 4 different pain killers inluding muscle relaxer shots, to try to ease muscle tension headaches. I love the ring because im horrible with remembering to take a pill every day! Ever since ive been on the ring ive been very upset i was really happy when i found this site. it showed me that i wasnt the only one feeling this. My migranes are so bad i cant keep my eyes open. I argue with my boyfriend more than ever because he tells me im too emotional and i cry too much. I dont know what to do because i want to be on something i dont have to remember to take everyday. I use to be on lo-overal.. it worked great but i have really good gag reflexes and the pill isnt coated so it would dissolve before you had time to swallow it! Now every time i take a pill i gag remembering what it was like to take lo-overal. It makes me sick thinking of it. Has any one ever tried the shot? Or does anyone else know of any other options besides pills? if so PLEASE let me know!

Hi there... I have just found this site and I'm very grateful to everyone who has taken the time to sit down and tell us their story mine is very similar. BELIEAVE me I feel like I am pushing my family away and I'm losing my relationship with the one person who used to make me feel like I was the most beautiful woman in the world.
I'm a 40 yr female have or maybe had a great job that I loved... On April 12 I noticed a small red rash on my lower right leg no big deal went to the Dr. gave me some cream and sent me home well I went to work and by the afternoon things just seem to get bad my legs began to swell and little blisters started to pop up so I went to the E.R. they had no Idea what was wrong with me got me an appointment to see a skin DR. so I went home but the pain from the swelling was so bad I could not walk any longer went back to the E.R. they gave me some pain meds and called in some other DR. things had gone from bad to worse my feet had gotten to big I could not put on shoes and I had bruised completely across the bottoms of my feet they put me on 30mg of PRED. and it seem to be under control sent me home after 3 day in the hospital things were good for about a day or so I thought I would go back to work well that was not a very good idea.... My sister had to come and take me back to the ER where they did 2 biopsies and still have no idea what is wrong with me. so now they put me on 60mg of PRED the rash has gone, lots of scaring on my feet because of the blisters once they broke and dried out but I can live with that....
It's the side effects that they don’t tell you about,
MOON FACE I can't look at myself cause really that’s not me anymore,
WEIGHT GAIN I have always been thick but I can't handle the extra 30lbs I've gained,
MOOD SWINGS are unbearable,
PAINFUL JOINTS, CAMEL HUMP, BLOODY NOSE, BRUSING, SORE TEETH/GUMS, DRY EYES, FAITIGE, and worsted of all
I don’t have a support systems in my life so I'm fighting this by myself everyday, I have 3 kids that I have tried to explain all this to but they don't get it and well my boyfriend he tells me he understands that its the meds pushing him away but if I can't figure away to control this I will lose every thing including my job. I cant even get the energy together half the time to make it up and down the stairs which also comes with the pain of just trying to lift each leg up to climb the stairs, I also have the camel hump which I find very painful, The acne and the hair growth that I have to get wax off once a month cause I feel like a man I feel like a loser and as of the last couple of days I just want to give up I am now down to 20mg per day but I find that I am feeling so sick I cant think straight I hope and pray for each and every person out there that has to take this MED that you get better and I do hope that my symptoms wont come back. Thanks for being here and I’m glad I found this site. I know now that I’m not losing my mind completely. Elizabeth.

I have taken this for 3 weeks and I had to stop. I just had a baby and I know I'm supposed to be tired, but even if I slept for 8 hours I was so tired that I could hardly hold my eyes open, I was depressed, sick to my stomach and dizzy. I was really thinking something was wrong with me and I went to the Dr to have blood work done and everything was fine so I'm switching back to Lo Ovral.

Where do I begin??? I have been taking Yaz for six months. Migraines! The worst migraines ever, I cannot function for one full day and sometimes more, the pain was so intolerable.

Hives! For the past two months, I keep thinking that I had a food allergy; even my doctor diagnosed it as that. After going to the allergist, I was told that I have developed an allergy to the Yasmin pill. No part of my body has been discriminated with this medication. Hives from the top of my head, in my eyes, right down to the bottom of my feet! This has been the worst experience of my life with this pill.

Fatigue to the extreme! I fall asleep sitting up and never feel rested. Yaz has caused me to go up two cup sizes so far, I went from being a 38C to a 40DD and I can't fit into anything. My boobs are sore a lot.

Weight gain, at least 20 pounds heavier. Nausea; Indigestion; Diarrhea & Constipation; Decreased Sex Drive; and Mood swings; Uncontrollable Rages; Severe body aches; Hot Flashes/Chills; Crying Spells; Blurred Vision; Lack of Concentration; Trouble sleeping; Dizziness; Shaking; Restlessness mainly after 9pm when I should be winding down to go to bed; Terrible night sweats; Never ending cravings for junk food; Inability to cope with stressful situations; Feeling of being inadequate; Can’t concentrate; Gassy; Hate family & partners; Irrational.

My mother has been taking this medication for quite some time now, without any explaination. She doesn't have seisures or anything like that, so why would the doctor prescribe such a medicaton? I can tell you since she has been taking this medication she can't keep her eyes open 24/7. She sleeps in her chair all day, then she goes to bed and sleeps all night, not much of a life for anybody! She does this 24/7 and I am not exagerating either! Do I just take her off the medicaton or do we have to ride this out, I just don't know what to do? Talking to the Doctor is like talking to someone with a hole in their head, if you get my drift.
Thanks for your time.

I am a 59 yo Male diagnosed with MG Myasthenia Gravis). MG is an autoimmune disease affecting the muscles. At it's worst I couldn't keep my eyes open, my speech was constantly slurred, I had double vision, and I had a hard time walking because my hip muscle sometimes would give out. I was on 60 mg of prednisone/day for 4 months and am on the "weaning off" cycle (decreasing the every other day dosage by -10mg at 3 week intervals then by -10 on the other day when the cycle gets to 60mg/0mg). The side effects are as previously mentioned: The good: My arms are like steel! My MG symptoms are pretty much gone. The bad: My Blood Sugar is so eratic and I have to take diabetes drugs to combat that. I am taking fosimax to combat osteoporosis (just in case as my Dr. says). My feet have swollen up really bad, my hands are swollen, my legs weep from all the edima (water retention), and I have a voratious appetite! The Ugly: My face looks like an Orangutan, My weight sored at least 50 lbs, I am moody as hell but the longer that I am on this drug the more tolerable it seems (by other people's obversations). I am having a hard time walking. I had to have a BiPAP machine so I could sleep at night. My memory is erratic and I hate that part.

Hope this helps someone.

I started taking 100mg twice a day on the 18th of Feb....I had just completed a 30 day Rx of Cipro per my Urologist's request. I am to take this Doxycycline 100mg bid for two months. Now the history is done; here is the problem? Around 2 - 3pm every day I start getting so tired I have a really hard time keeping my eyes open? I yawn and yawn and yawn......I sleep my normal night hours, but this afternoon stuff is not at all normal for me. Is this an effect of the Doxycycline? I didnt see that for a side effect on the web site. Or am I nuts? If so, I'll need more sleep. vr

I have been taking Biaxin for seven days. Thank goodness this is my last dose. I've had all the regular symptoms (naseau, upset stomach, diarrhea, metallic taste in mouth morning, noon and night), but I also have noticed a severe break out with acne, night sweats and tiredness. I feel like I can hardly keep my eyes open. I forgot one dose and felt almost like myself again, guess that's what triggered me to finally take the medicine. I will not take this medicine again. I'd rather get a yeast infection from some of the other antibiotics than feel like a walking zombie again. This is some strange stuff. I even quit taking my zoloft while taking this antibiotic thinking it was the interaction of the two drugs, but it didn't help.

I have the same problem most of you describe. I have been on Lisinopril for about 2 weeks - I started out so tired and lethargic I couldn't keep my eyes open during the day and I was going to bed at 8 PM. That has lessened only a little bit. I have now developed the cough people have talked about. I normally work out regularly, but I have no energy to do it now - tried working out hard last night and felt like my heart was going to jump through my throat. Not taking this anymore.

The fitfth day on Lisnopril, after a good night's sleep, I became so sleepy about an hour after breakfast, couldn't keep my eyes open. (Took a half hour nap).

Early evening I became dizzy, chest pain, I thought I was going to pass out. (I was out for a social evening of cards)

Next day, I took 1/2 the dosage....I seemed to be okay.

Five days later, I started sweating, chest pain, pressure dropped very low. I stopped taking Lisinopril, still don't feel up to par.

I was on Univasc, that worked well for me, however, the new Medicare Drug program didn't pay for the drug and my doctor didn't want to spend time to ask my insurance to make Univasc a "preferrred" drug for me and so he prescribed Lisinopril...WHAT A NIGHT MARE!!! .

I will be seeking another professional opinion!

I get dizzy when taking the Levaquin during the day; also it gives an unpleasant tingling in the head and it seems like it forces your eyes open. I am taking it for chronic prostatitis but maybe I will ask for Amoxycillin which doesn't adversely affect me. Cipro and Maxaquin by the way are more more toxic

I had my first injection of Lupron August 25, 2006 and the side effects have been horrible. They started out as mild headaches and joint pain too severe migraines and joint pain so bad that I can't walk at times. Not to mentions the hot flashes and night sweats. After 2 surgeries and 1 ovary left at the age of 26 they said that it was Lupron or hysterectomy. But the dr wanted to do the Lupron b/c I have had too many surgeries and he was wanting to avoid another one. I have been into the dr 3x this week and called them the other 2 days. They said that I was showing signs of stroke and put me on the add back therapy and painkillers and told me to get to the ER immediately if it got worse. That does not sound ok to me. I have missed so much work b/c I can't keep my eyes open and sick to my stomach from the severe migraines. I do not recommend taking the shot. Nobody told me of the real side effects until after I had the injection. If anyone has any ideas on how to get these headaches to go away it would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I am losing my mind.

My first time of taking Geodon was 20mg in the AM and I literally did not think I would make it through the day at work. I could barely keep my eyes open, my speech was slurred and I felt totally drunk! I decided it was better to take at nightime but I think I took it too late the first few times and was literally falling asleep at the wheel on the way to work. Thank God I am also on Adderall, a stimulant. Anyways, I finally realized that I must take this med at 8:30 PM (on work nights) and by 11 PM I can't keep my eyes open but I don't feel as tired in the morning and can function. I am now on 40mg for about 2 weeks now but feel very anxious by the afternoon...it feels kind of like I'm worried about something or waiting for something to happen but I don't know what. I can't stand this feeling but I talk to my Doc tomorrow. I hope it goes away. I tried Abilify but the side effects for that left me feel like something was crawling in my own skin and I couldn't sit still. That was probably the worse feeling ever. I just hope the anxiety with Geodon goes away in time because I feel out of options for meds. I've read that alot of the other Bi-polar meds side effects include extreme weight gain and I used to have an eating disorder and am afraid of that!

I started at 25mcg, then my doc raised it to 75 mcg. I had no trouble before other than lab results were high. With meds I had a few problems. With increased dose I have nervousness, feel almost like I am on speed when the meds kick in for about 7 hours, then I am so tired I can't keep my eyes open. I have a ravenous appetite and yet, have lost 15 lbs. Not good since I only weigh 125. I have terrible abdominal pain, sweating, a lot of hair loss, leg cramps and headaches (something I never get). My doc wants to raise me to 88mcg. I don't think so!
What else can I take? I am checking into natural stuff now.

I am a 41 year old woman who has been on Toprol for 2 years. At first there were no problems, and a pleasant side effect was that my chronic migraines were greatly reduced! However, of late, I have been experiencing EXTREME sleepiness, sometimes even first thing in the morning after a good full night of sleep! I have been nervous to drive because of how sleepy I feel. I can barely keep my eyes open anymore, and the muscles of my eyes are even tired from trying to keep them open! I also have extremely dry eyes, atrial flutter, numb and tingling fingertips. The symptoms definately got worse when I went from taking 50 mg to 100 mg per day. I am glad I finally got worried enough to investigate the side effects on the internet. Thanks for your site! I will be talking to my doctor about slowly getting off Toprol and trying another medication for my high blood pressure. The best medicine is Exercise!

Unbelievable, I am amazed by what I am reading. I started searching for Toprol side effects tonight because I am a 43 year old woman who is usually very active in the garden this time of year. I have been taking Toprol XL since last September. I can't work in the garden more than fifteen minutes without being out of breath and dizzy. I have no desire to push my lawn mower. If you knew me, you would know there was something seriously wrong if I do not want to mow the grass. I have gained 15 lbs for no apparent reason. I can relate to just about every one on this list. I feel awful most of the time, barely able to keep my eyes open. I also get occasional charly-horses in my legs and more often in my feet. I thought those symptons were due to my weight gain. I have tried to lose some of the weight but it won't budge. I have tried vitamins and trying to get more sleep. Nothing works. I take the Toprol for episodes of severe tachycardia in a-fib. I also have an enlarged left atrial chamber with an aneurysm. Is there some other medication I can take without these side effects???? I have immediately made an appointment to see my cardiologist. thank you for having this forum, I now know what is wrong with me.

I have been on this pill for about 1.5 months and have gained 15 lbs and am bloated like a balloon. I can not control my appetite. I always feel starved. I usually can not sit still and now I fight to keep my eyes open. I feel like I am pregnant! I have had several break outs and I have never had this problem before! This pill is awful!

I have just thrown my ultracet down the toilet. I have severe osteo arthritis and in order to sleep I took the ultracet at night before bedtime. The first time I took it the next day I felt like I had the worst hangover ever and I could not keep my eyes open. I didn't associate the two since there was such a long time inbetween. A week later and I took two at bedtime again. Once again I'm throwing up and my head feels ready to explode. Never again!

I started taking it for the first time yesterday...I was prescribed a dose of Geodon, twice a day...I took it yesterday at 5pm, and about an hour later, was feeling dizzy and COULD NOT KEEP MY EYES OPEN. I slept all night, and it's 9 am now and I still feel woozy. I'm going to call my doctor and find out if I can change this medicine...I was prescribed this in addition to 20mgs of Celexa twice a day for depression...is Geodon even a depression medication!?!

I have been on Geodon for a little over a week. The doctor told me to take 120 mg once daily in the morning. No one else on this page seems to take all this in the morning. About 2 hours after taking it, I crash. I can't even keep my eyes open. Throughout the day I get really tired. Like I have no energy in my body. Towards the evening, about 6pm, I get really cold. I feel like I have to stretch all the time, especially in my legs and arms. Dry mouth, dizziness...I also have insomnia, since I do not take this medicine at night. Overall, the experience hasn't been that bad. I used to have visual and auditory hallucinations (I am bipolar/personality disorder/schizoaffective disorder). Now I do not have these symptoms at all. I am also taking Wellbutrin for mood and Desyrel for insomnia. Want to know if anyone recomends getting OFF this medicine before I get in over my head with symptoms. If you have any suggestions for a different medicine, please post it.

I am a 57 year old female. I have been on lipitor for less than 2 months. Woke up with "charlie-horse" cramps in right calf. This happened at least five times last night. Today I have a constant pain in my calf. Called the pharmisist who told me to stop taking the drug and call my doctor. I will not take this again. I developed heavy legs while on zocor so I had to go off it also. I am also very tired by the afternoon and can barely keep my eyes open. I will have to find something else to lower my cholestol.
