After several attempts to lower my cholesterol, my doctor has settled on 40 mg of Lipitor, but, after reading these comments, I'm going to self-medicate and work my way off the drug completely. My main complaint is the fatigue and brain fog others have experienced. I do have a shoulder that has developed pain and weakness, and my legs don't seem to be as strong as they used to be, but it's the fatigue and memory/cognitive slowness that concern me the most. Also, like others, I assumed it was normal aging (I'm 58 and have been on statins for about eight years). I'll report my results after getting this stuff out of my system. Good luck to everyone going through this...we're not crazy after all, huh?

My 17 year old daughter received her second vaccination on Mar 10 2009. Four days later she began having headaches and fatigue.Within 2 weeks she was having non-epileptic seizures, tremors, numbness and pain in all her extremities. She has been hospitalized twice with still no answers. She was a healthy energetic cheerleader before Gardasil now she can barely get out of the bed.Her hair is falling out in clumps and she has lost 40 lbs. This has been a nightmare.I was just trying to protect my daughter. Her senior year is now spent hospital home bound.

Had Mirena inserted about October 2006. Hurt a lot and bled a lot upon insertion. Spotting for a short time and then no periods (spotting about 4 times in last 2.5 years). Perhaps an increase in iritibility but that can also be expected with 2 rambunctious kids and a less-than-perfect husband. :-) No other symptoms.

Finally got Mirena removed because of acne problems that have lasted for a year. Got it removed April 24, 2009. No problems at all and my skin is clearing up nicely. Two weeks later I am now suffering from incredible dizzyness, nausea, fatique, and abdominal cramping, to the point of staying home from work. Though I'm also worried about the possibility of pregnancy as well.

I am a 56 yr old female, placed on Lisinopril in lieu of Atelenol, which I have been taking along with HCTZ for a least 5 years. BP was 148/83, Dr. thinks still too high so Lisinopril it is. I was on it for a week and I, too, developed some really annoying side effects. Dry, almost spastic cough, especially at night when I attempt to sleep. Have been on the sofa for over two weeks to avoid disturbing my other half's sleep with my constant coughing. The Lisinopril makes me tired anyway but with the lack of sleep, I am exhausted. I am also an Multiple Sclerosis patient and fatigue is a big factor of the disease so lack of sleep is not good. I had the perpetual headache everyday, not debilitating but enough to ruin your day. Also felt extremely dizzy, to the point of feeling like I could pass out when I raised my head. The newest symptom, is a sore tongue. Feels like I have many cuts on the front of my tongue which foods and drink irritate but there is nothing there. Dr. has taken me off saying that I am experiencing an allergy to Ace Inhibitors and switched me over to another med called Benecare. Have not taken one yet and will do so along with the Atelenol so don't know how it will be but just wanted to share the allergy concept about Ace Inhibitors.

Went off simvastatin in March, all pain went away within a couple of months, but muscle weakness in legs remained. In October, found out my cholesterol is sky high, over 325. So Dr. wanted to try Crestor 5 mg. Within 1 week, I had overwhelming fatigue, could hardly stay awake during the day and the weakness in my legs was getting worse. So I just went off Crestor. Frustrating!!

Thank You!!! I'm not the only one! I had the Mirena inserted in 2005,removed in Sept 2008. Painful cramping immediately that continued at odd times throughout time I had it. Bleeding for the first 4 months. Back Pain followed and landed me in the ER. At the ER I was told that I had blood in my urine. Antibiotics had no effect. Back pain continues today but is markedly less. Major mood swings leading to depression. Took Zolft at increasing doses with no effect. Never been prone to any of these before. Rages would come on over the littlest things. Extreme anxiety attacks leading into panic that left me completely irrational. Almost lost my husband and kids due to mood swings. Joint pain came then in my lower back and shoulders and wrists. Saw doctor, no reason ever found. Lumps showed up in my breasts that would swell and receed with my monthly cycle. Extreme sensitivity during sex with bleeding and cramping after. Cysts on my face and large acne bumps on my back that were so painful to the touch i could not even wear a bra. These spots took weeks to go away. Headaches that left me sick and weak on the couch seeing spots. Dr's insisted these symptoms were not related to my birth control.I had tons of fatigue but chalked that up to the depression. I also started having a lot of trouble with dryness in all of my mucus membranes. Even my eyes hurt. Over and over saw many dr's never could find what was wrong. This birth control nearly ruined my life and cost me three important years with my kids that i should have been at the top of my game. I have girlfriends who have received the mirena with almost exactly the same progression as me. I feel deceived by the listings in the information pamplets I received. I expected bleeding and slighter periods but never did they list these symptoms. I even looked at their website before I received it and they are not listed there either. I even had an argument with my gyno about having it removed because he knew of none of these side effects. I have seen a significant change since the removal. Mood swings down, energy back up. Kids say I'm like a whole new mom. To those ladies interested..contact K. in Texas to find out information about a class action law suit being filed.****** Don't let anyone else be hurt by this product. Who knows how long this is going to negatively affect our bodies?

I've been on Yasmin for maybe 2 cycles, before I went to my doctor yesterday to see if I could stop it mid cycle.

side effects that I noticed (or had pointed out to me).
-severe mood swings, severe decrease in libido, general fatigue and depression, vaginal dryness, soreness, itchiness, it feels almost painfully tight?, my tits became monsters that increased at least a cup size that wanted to escape my shirt (my boyfriend appreciated this part, but they were very painful), general bloatiness/weight gain, binge eating (I normally don't have much of an appetite for anything, and forget to eat in between, school and work)

I would also like to point out a table that was in the Swedish study that showed what the adverse drug reactions were. It lists that children had night mares, aggressiveness, sleep disorder, abdominal pain, increased appetite, anxiety, fatique and several others. All of these symptoms are similar to what we are reading on this board.

This study was done in a foreign country before anything was ever announced in the American media. If you take this article to your doctor, please don't forget to print the tables. There is a link on the page.

See this link for the article.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the present study indicates that ADRs are reported for commonly used drugs in children. The number of ICSRs varies in different groups of drugs. A possible signal for montelukast and psychiatric adverse drug reactions was found, which should be further explored.

I am a 45 year old male. My bp at dr's office was 144/90. He prescribed Lisinopril 40 mg once a day and said come back in a month and see how I'm doing. I tried it and immediately experienced dizziness with headache and lack of energy, then later I noticed I was getting winded with little exertion along with fatique. I could hardly climb a flight of stairs with out resting. Also would get out of breath just talking to people. Isn't this a high dose to start with? I stopped after a few days and tried later with same symptoms. I am 5'8 155 pounds in fairly good health except for borderline high bp. Should I keep trying to take this med.....or reduce the dose?

I had MIRENA inserted after my son was born almost two years ago. I was so excited to not have to deal with taking a pill or having to worry about anything at all. Well, after a year, finally my period got under control and i only have gross looking spotting for a few days every month. But, I think that it is causing some serious problems. My fiance and I had sex yesterday and the pain that came to me afterwards was absolutely unbearable. I was curled up in a ball screaming and we considered taking me to the hospital...my problem is I no longer have health insurance. The pain I felt was like a terrible gas pain and felt like there was a knife that was tearing into my cervix. I can't seem to lose any weight, and I feel like shit EVERY day. Has anyone had that knife stabbing pain I am talking about? I just want to make sure I'm not the only one. We are paying out of pocket to have this removed as soon as possible.

I am a 32 y/o female that was put on Topamax 10 days ago for migraines. I am taking 25mg twice a day so far, and the side effects I have experienced are all carbonated drinks taste flat; including beer, and if I take it close to bed time, I cannot sleep. The medication actually revs me up! Nothing i cannot handle. I have not had any problems with loss of appetite, nausea or diarrhea. Sure, sometimes I feel a little spacey, but I did that even before I started the medication. My doctor did tell me that you do need to drink plenty of water and eat plenty of protein. Also, when I start to feel a little spacey, eating a small amount of sugar seems to help with that... I have had a few headaches since starting the medication, but I haven't had a full blown migraine!!! I will continue to keep you posted. So far, I haven't had any side effects that i can't live with and by reading the posts and talking with several other people on the medication, it seems like the side effects are temporary and improve as your body "adjusts" to the medication. I am a nurse and I guess I am at at advantage because I am educating people on daily basis about this very issue!

My doctor started me on Mevacor a few months ago at 40 mg - I could hardly stand up to walk - my back was killing me! Then she put meon 5 mg of Zocor - okay for the first few weeks, and my cholestorol went down so she told me to double it to 10 mg - then the leg cramps started. I stopped taking if for a few weeks and restarted at 5 mgs (again) last week - now my legs are aching and my ankles are swollen big time. Also noticing fatique and some blues/depression. I told my doctor today that I am not taking it anymore! Not asking her, TELLING her.

My father 64 years old has been on Lipitor for over 2 years. In the past few months he has been very quiet, finding it hard to talk and he knows what he wants to say but some words are hard to say. Severe fatique, he moves much slower, difficulty reading and to understand what he's reading. Finds it hard to write and draw and when he is sleeping he has awful twitching. Is this because of Lipitor? we are waiting for an MRI and EEG the doctor seems to feel it might be dementia or Alzheimer's and maybe so but that all doesn't add up.
Does anyone else feel like this?
Is there hope, we have taken him off Lipitor 2 days ago.
Does anyone have a good result to hear?
How do check to see if Lipitor is the problem where does that show up?

My husband took lisinopril for only two days and had to stop. His side effect symptons included headache, muscle and joint aches, fatique, insomnia, fever and chills, loss of appetite, and THE cough. All of these symptons were severe! It has been two days since he stopped taking lisinopril and he is still flat on his back. I am really amazed that this med ever passed FDA approval, and why any doctor would even prescribe it. I wonder if the docs prescribe it because you can get it at Wal-Mart and a local grocery store pharmacy for only $4.00 per month. Makes me think that the manufacture is trying to push this drug inspite of the horrible side effects by dropping the price, which the insurance companies really love.

I have been on nuvaring for 8 months, and the whole 8 months I have experianced nothing but extreme irritiblity, fatique, and depression. I can't think of one thing in my life that would make me feel this way. The feeling lasts all month long, but when I take it out, within hours my mood goes back to normal, I am happy again, not irritable. I would not reccomend this medication. I feel like I am losing my mind, and I am driving my husband insane, because of the extreme moods. I am a very laid back person, I don't get easily upset, but being on this NR I cry over everything, you could look at me the wrong way and I would cry. Its horrible, I am changing birth control. Its a shame because I like not having to worry about it, but I just can't deal with these side effects.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in April of this year (2007) kind of by accident through a routine checkup. I had gained a bit of weight over the past two years, but that was really my only symptom. I was begun on 75 mcg of a generic brand of Synthroid, levothyroxine. Since I began this medication, I have rapidly gained another 15 pounds despite a 1,000 calorie per day diet. I retain fluid horribly. My ankles, wrists, hands and face swell daily. My muscles ache, especially my legs, upon walking across a room. I'm fatigued, short of breath. My LDL cholesterol level has skyrocketed in only three months and now I'm being told I need to be on a statin drug. I cry frequently and feel uncharacteristically anxious and irritable, but this could be due to the frustration I am experiencing with the loss of my sense of well-being. In essence, I felt much better before being placed on the medication. I may, in fact, discontinue the medication totally and see if over time I begin to feel better. Like so many other stories I'm hearing, my doctor seems totally unconcerned.

I started having problems with my voice cracking and throat aching after singing or talking alot. Went to Dr. and he said he thought it was reflux (of which I had no symptoms). Wtihin days I started experiencing fatique, headache, depression, dizziness, ringing in my ears, and my right leg went numb about 3 weeks into taking it. Then about 2 months into taking, my entire right side went numb (thought I was having a stroke). Since that time I have been through CAT scans, MRI's, lumbar punctures. Been to 2 Neurologists, a Neurosurgeon, Cardiologist, Endocrinologist. 3 different Doctors thought I had Multiple Sclerosis or a stroke. All tests negative for both. After researching Prilosec on my own I found that Prilosec and all like meds block the absorption of and strip vitamins out of your body. 2 1/2 months after stoppping it I had B-12 level checked and it was almost non-existent. Started taking B Complex and B-12 shots. Symptoms have tremendously improved but haven't completely left. I still have numbness even 14 months later. The problem is that B-12 deficiency can cause the numbness and if not treated quickly enough the problems can become permanent. IF YOU TAKE any acid reflux medicine have your vitamin levels checked ... especially B-12.

i've been on synthroid for 9 years. started at some low dose and gradually went up to112 mg. get extreme itching all day everyday if i don't take allegra for that.not a rash just itching. that doesn't bother me as much as the fatique. every joint in my body aches all the time. sure there are better days but fo rthe most part it's bad. tried physical therapy and chiripratic care but no avail. they ended my sessions. my legs get sooo weak and my feet burn lower back really aches. sometimes muscle cramps. i'm very negative towards my loving family and it hurts me to do so. can't seem to keep upbeat. soo tired all the time.
is it the syntroid? i used to be very energenic and a doer. now i have spurts of activity in the morning , but then i just can't get motivated. help me any suggestions?

I'm a 55 yo male, that has been taking Vytorin for 6 yrs. A year ago I was diagnosed with Fybromyalgia, at a very large research hospital in St. Louis.
I entered a drug study, but after 4mos had to leave due to a neccessary surgery. I was able to find out, what the medicine was, and contimued taking it. It was Cymbalta. It provided about a 75% reduction in my symtoms, which were: Major muscle pain, throughout my body, fatique, constipation-diarrehea, memory loss(Fybro Fog), erectile dysfunction, body temp, always hot, with sweating, and just feeling tired and crappy 24/7. I accidently came across this site, about 2 wekks ago, and began reading these and other testamonials, and started thinking, maybe it's not Fibrom, but the Vytorin. So I quit taking it. My symtoms have dramatically decreased, almost by 90%. I hadn't told my Doc, so I'll be doing that this week. And run some blood tests to see what my numbers are doing. But I am convinced, Vytorin has something to do with my condition.
