I am 24 years old and I had a pulmonary embolism last month. I was on the birth control YAZ for only 3 months, and that's what doctors seem to think caused it. My insurance only paid for me to be in the hospital for three daysand I was sent home with lovenox shots and Coumadin pills.
One month later, my INR is still unstable, fluctuating so much that they are checking it twice per week. My dosage is constantly changing. I have a red, painful rash on my buttocks - it hurts of sit for more than a few minutes. I am losing clumps of hair. I have lost my libido. I am very irritable and snap at my husband several times per day. I have a headache almost daily and frequent nausea.
I hate these side effects!

Besides feeling very strongly that YAZ should be taken off the market from mine and everyone elses complaints of lossing thier minds I also feel all these symptoms should be reported to the FDC, FDA, and APA. Please take time to report your concerns to the organizations that use them in the best ways possible maybe even help prevent others from your same expierence even if it is just w/ a label or warning change. Thank you, I'm just trying to help others.

I started taking the Yaz in the middle of December and i felt horrible from the very beginning, then the panic attacks happened when i was driving.at 2wks of taking this poisonous pill. They kept coming and I finally associated these attacks with Yaz. It is the only thing I am putting in my body and I have never had this before taking the Yaz. So I stopped on Friday had another attack on Sunday. How long before I stop having these attacks? Help!! My OBGYN think I am crazy and straight up says that EVERYONE she prescribes this too absolutely loves the Yaz

I am new to birth control. Last week was my third week on Yaz. The first 2 weeks on it, I was fine. No real symptoms, but the third week, I began having anxiety (which I have never had before) and my heart would race every now and then. Also, I had a major loss of appetite. I would have to make myself eat even though I felt like gagging. I would try to go to sleep, but the anxiety would be too bad. (I took my pill at 8:00 every night) So, I stopped taking them. Yesterday was my second day off of the pill and all I wanted to do was sleep. (I guess from the lack of sleep due to the anxiety/panic attacks) Today my appetite is slowly coming back.
I contacted my GYN and they said they have never heard of those side effects from Yaz...but I looked it up online and there are tons of women complaining of the same thing.
They now want me to try Loestrin...which I am very hesitant of. I don't want to get my body back to normal and then start with the same problems again.
I am getting married in October and of course we don't want a baby right away....I must say...the old school condoms are looking like a better option every day!

For about 6 months I experienced severe cognitive disturbances. I had trouble remembering things, and making basic connections. I also had chronic fatigue, and terrible headaches, severe depression, moodiness, trouble sleeping, and trouble making sentences. I was so out of it that I couldn't make the connection with the medicine. I was 16 at the time, and my doctor thought it was just normal teen issues or something equally absurd My eyesight became worse, and my usual ability to retain information in school was butchered. Once I got off it, I felt much better. I could think again, and no was no longer forgetting important things, like my best friends name. However, it has been a half year since I got off, and some of the symptoms still persist, although in a much less degree. I am afraid of permanent damage, especially with my cognitive ability.

What an awful day! I went to ER thinking I was having a heart attack because of the severe pain in my chest, neck and expecially right arm. After all the testing they sent me home saying it "might" be a reaction to the Levaquin I have been taking for five days (for a colon infection). I was convinced it was the levaquin since I am a very healthy 50 year old woman, hiker, runner ,ect and I have not taken an anitbiotic for over five years (for a tooth problem). Now all of a sudden I have this horrible aching and pain in my upper body. Needless to say, I am getting off the drug and will pursue this with my doctor on Monday. After reading all of this, I am hoping that the symptoms will leave and not cause permanent damage. I willalso contact the FDC and drug company. Thank all of you for writing this or I would have not known what happened to me.

You can find the exact wording at fda.gov under "drugs" than under "consmer" {info or something},
once you're there search Yaz. Anyways I plan on contacting all the lawyers that I did a few months
ago to let them know bayer was warned that their advertising didn't warn women well enough of the
potential dangers. I believe Yaz should be off the market or at bare minimum have MUCH MUCH better
warnings. I am apparently not the only feeling this frustration so I think we should all contact
the same lawyers and anyone who wants a list from me please e-mail me and if the lawyers hear from
all of us and know about the warning the least that would happen is they would be prepared when
more problems were addressed by the FDA and I think we all know what the best out come would be.
IF YOU WANT YAZ OFF THE MARKET PLEASE CONTACT THE FDA, FDC, AND BAYER { EVEN THOUGH YOU'LL FIND
BAYER DOESN'T HAVE ANY INFO FOR YOU}. Let me know if you want the lawyer the list. Thanks to
everyone who has already contacted the FDA {who knew it would really work}.
