I just had a baby in June and the dr talked up Nuvaring like it was the greatest, so I went on it. Only been on it a month and in that time have felt sort of scared because of the way I had been feeling. Irritated, sleepy, drenching night sweats, breaking out in cold sweats during the day, heart palpitations, and just constantly feeling on edge. The night sweats and heart palpitations have been the worst, I have never experienced anything like that and it's terrible. Now I'm experiencing the most heavy bleeding I have ever had in my life. I will not be using Nuvaring anymore.

Hello, I'm a 27 yr old, married female, who has been on BC for about 9 years. I started Yasmin about 5 years ago, and just got off of it 2 weeks ago.
I never realized how NEGATIVELY it effected me. Some of my side effects were: cysts in my breasts, severe hot flashes, tingeling of my hands etc, I've been hospitalized for heart palps, and chest pain...And I NEVER slept through the night. Not 1 night! UNTIL now of course...Imagine!
I just decided to come off the pill b/c 1. I'm married now, and 2. I wsa so tired of taking meds. I feel AMAZING now! I sleep thought the night, no more panic attacks, or feeling anxious. I'm still a little hormonal and have some hot flashes, but nothing like I used to. And, the week I'd be off the pill and have my period, I was in SUCH a better mood...the second I'd go back on the pill, I'd be so cranky and defensive, I'd feel sick to my stomach- and my eyes were SO dry! Esp. that first week getting back on it- man, it was brutal.
So now, my cysts in my breasts are gone, I'm happy, pain free, and able to sleep though the night!
This is such a great site...I think that different meds work differently on each person, but with Yasmin, there are a LOT of cases in which the effects are not healthy, or worth it! Good luck to all hoping to get off this pill- you'll feel like a different person~
Best,
M

I used to take Lamictal 150mg at night, no problems, but started feeling anxious in the afternoon/evening. My Dr. Rx'd 300mg lithium at night to see if it would help the anxiety, but I had very fitfil, unrestful sleep to the point where I was not sleeping much and very tired all day. So, the Dr. took me off lithium and substituted Tripletal 300mg in the evening. That worked, but I was still a little depressed & she increased my Lamictal to 200 mg at night. I started waking up after about 4 hours with horrible nightmares. I thought the nightmares were from Trileptal because that was a new med, but even after I discontinued it, I still get the nightmares/panic feeling that wakes me at night. I took 2mg Lunesta for a while to help me sleep, but then I slept too much 10-12 hrs. I take the Lamictal now in the morning & don't get those nightmares & I sleep fine now, but I feel anxious & dizzy and have trouble concentrating, again about 2-4 hours after I take it in the morning. Dr. says I can take ativan to help the anxiety, but I feel like I need to get off Lamictal and try something else. Maybe lithium will help if try to take it now witout the Lamictal.

I was given Levaquin 750 by my doctor about 6 weeks ago for a sinus infection. I took the first pill and about 20 minutes later I started feeling anxious and panicky. Thought it was all psychosymatic, and it wore of somewhat, but was not able to sleep well, very strange dreams, felt like I all I did was dream all night did not get good deep sleep. Blamed in on stress had a lot going on at the time, here I am six weeks later, suffering from sleep depravation due to the fact that I am unable to get into all layers of sleep each night, this is starting to drive me crazy and I have no quality of life because of the feeling of not being alert due to the deprivation. What do we do to get the nightmare of a med off the market.

I began with a flu three weeks ago. Though was over the most severe
of the flu symptoms, I still felt sluggish after one week. I had headaches, still tired and thought I needed to check my hormones. ( I am 60 year old woman on homone replacement.) My doctor thought I might be having anallergic reaction to juniper and decided I should try
Singulair.
Last week I reported back, this is after one week on this drug. Now I thoughtI was having heart attacks, I was extremely fatigued(much worse), I was feeling anxious, wired, going from A to Z without a pause, my
body hurt and I couldn't think. I have a high level professional job that requires me to be on and I could not go to work. I love what I do by the
way. My doctor wondered if I was depressed or having manic attacks because I seemed "wired" to him. He ordered a test on nuerotransmitters and a heart exam. Now one week later I am unchanged or perhaps even worse, still not working and waiting for my tests.
However, this psychological twist that the doctor introduced has been bothering me. I did the depression drill ten years ago. It took me four
years to get rid of all the different drug options everyone subscribed and
have not been on any mood drug for the last four years. I am happy and not depressed, just having heart attack symptoms, fatigue, headaches, feelings of dread, anxiety, etc etc I am also very knowledgement and sophisticated regarding intended, curious and side effects of brain drugs. I began to think and the only new thing was this
drug.
The only new thing was this drug, I began to ask around my friends and the responses from everyone were immediate. This drug is terrible, the symptoms I have and other ones I just read are commonplace. Those
that hadn't tried it were curious to know my thoughts as they had heard
that it was very good for allergies but had side effects.
I am stopping this pill immediately, waiting on my tests, and will report
back to you how I feel within a few days.

Hi ladies! I am in complete shock at what I am reading on this site! I thought I was going crazy but now I know I wasn't and I am not alone!!! I was on Yaz for two months and in the first month, I noticed that my libido went from moderate (sex 3-5x a week) to completely non-existent- like a light switch. Then at the end of my second pack, which was this past week, I experienced breast tenderness, non-stop headaches (bordering on migraines) and my abdomen was extremely bloated. Also, throughout this past month, I have noticed my joints have been achy and my muscles have been sore. I have been weak and tired all the time on top of feeling anxious and restless. These premenstrual symtoms are completely uncommon for me to have. This past month in particluar has been oddly confusing and almost like an out of body experience. Now, in retrospect and after reading about others' experiences with Yaz, I am convinced that all those symptoms were/are side effects of Yaz. I hope this posting is helpful to some, in the same sense that other postings were helpful to me. Good Luck!

Hello ladies,
I thank the organisers of this forum and all the ladies who have participated in discussion in regards to the concerns and problems they are facing with Yasmin.
I am a 26 yr old male whose girlfriend is currently on Yasmin and have taken the time to research a bit about this product with a serious concern not only to her health but to our relationship !
We are suffering almost all of the above mentioned problems - and i say 'we' because i am going through a LOT here. It might be worth noting here that I only see my girlfriend on weekends.
Excessive moodiness - and when i say excessive i mean the type that was described by 'Nicole' and many others - the type that makes her want to crawl out of her skin, she gets very shaky as a result and complains that she has knots in her stomach at the end of it. These sessions have lasted up to 6 hours straight which was only yesterday evening. Being a who the type of person i am, i cant but feel responsible for her feeling this way, i keep blaming myself for something i may have said.
Anxious / panic attacks. She becomes totally unmanagable, often crying a LOT from feeling anxious for hours on end, to the point where she DOES want to crawl out of her skin as 'Nicole' put it. She gets shakey and dizzy all at the same time.
Cramping sensation in the legs
Tiredness - as put by 'Voicesi' "like pass-out tiredness". After a day long attempt to make her feel relaxed, being a kind gentlemen for an entire day, she would literally pass-out. Being a stereotypical male in this regard and I understand that us men have the ultimate weakness when it comes to the 'urge for sex' or our 'need to reproduce' but i hope to get intimate with my best friend, who ends up passing out. This leads me to another problem:
Loss of libido - Yet another problem faced by the many messages on this forum, namely by 'Christy', 'missy botto', 'missy' to name but a few. 'Tanna' has also complained about having no sex drive. No sex drive to the point where there is usually no physical contact whatsoever. I cant go near her sometimes which leads to further problems. she feels as though i'm afraid of her. I am very afraid of her! She cries, gets very anxious, would be shaking in the foetal position for hours. I would in return feel totally useless as I cant comfort her in any way. I feel helpless, she feels that she's all alone in this so i take it personally... I think its safe to say that these pills are 'from hell' as 'ML' put it.
I am tempted to throw away these pills to be the partner "who cant keep up" as 'christy' put it.
I believe she is doing physical damage to herself.
I dont deserve the way I am being treated and you ladies out there with these problems are hurting not only yourselves but quite possibly - and my case is a perfect example - others around you. Why ? all in the name of having unprotected sex, reduced periods, clear skin, controlled periods, or whatever reason it is ITS NOT WORTH IT !!

After my second dose of inhaled Advair for Bronchitis I started feeling spacey and unable to concentrate. I had to keep laying down to "collect myself". As an hour went by I began trembling and feeling weak. Also, my windpipe felt like a big loose bruised bag in my throat. Went to the hospital because I was feeling anxious about my symptoms.
When they tested me I had a low heart rate, 58. All my blood work was good. I never took another dose and 36 hours late I'm almost 100%.

well it seems i've become another "casualty" to this drug. i'm to the point of feeling like i'm losing my mind. i've been on yasmin since march 2005 and side effects have been sneaking their way into my life slowly enough that it's taken me this long to attribute them to the yasmin. the first 5 or 6 months were great. since that time, i feel like i've been perpetually sick. last year, i battled bronchitis for 3-4 months. then my allergy symptoms seemed to be worse all spring/summer. i've had probably 8-9 colds since starting the yasmin, when before i had maybe 1 a year. i'm currently battling a nasty ear infection/ruptured eardrum. my eyes are constantly blurry. i've had the muscle spasm/jerks that keep me up all night. i have scoliosis (that was slight) and has now gotten much worse (which after reading all these posts, i attribute to the diuretic sucking out all things good from my body) i have absolutely no energy or desire to do any everyday chores/tasks. i drag myself out of bed, go to work, come home, sit and stare at the tv, go to bed, repeat. i've been extremely irritable and moody, which i attributed to just a distaste for my job. here lately, i cry at the drop of a hat---weep at times to just feel normal again. yesterday, the heart palpitations started. i've had these before for a couple minutes but these have lasted for 2 days. i went to the doctor today for the ear infection and she did an EKG--normal, just PVCs--which i knew that's what they were but you can't help feeling anxious about them when they make you feel like you're going to die. and thusly, the anxiousness leads to them getting worse. she gave me a month supply of lexapro to try. i don't want to. when i told her my thoughts that all of this was the yasmin (through sobs, which probably didn't help my case), she just looked at me and didn't seem too convinced. my ob-gyn seemed even less convinced when i discussed some initial concerns i had back in october. she told me there was absolutely no harm being done while on it and it would be the easiest thing to come off of if i decided to stop taking it. but after reading all of these posts, i'm just as terrified to quit taking it as a i am to keep taking it! i just want to feel alive again. and to think all of this suffering for regular periods and less cramping. my last pill is saturday. i plan for that to be my last. i hope i'm strong enough to get through it.

KIM AND ALL WOMEN EITHER TAKING YASMIN OR COMING OFF IT:
PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS ENTIRE SITE OR AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. I CAN ASSURE YOU, YOU WILL FIND WOMEN HERE WHO HAVE ALL THE SAME/VERY SIMILAR SYMPTOMS AS YOU ARE EXPERIENCING.
THIS PILL-YASMIN, AND ITS SISTER, WREAK TOTAL HAVOC ON OUR HEALTH AS DO MANY ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES. SIMPLY-THE INCREASE IN YEAST DUE TO THE PILL CREATES ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS.
BCPS ALSO LINKED TO HEART HEALTH. STROKES, HEART ATTACKS AND BLOOD CLOTS-SO REALLY, AS WOMEN, IS THIS NECESSARY?
HONESTLY, THE MORE RECENT WOMAN WHO WROTE ABOUT BREAST PAIN-I'VE HAD THAT NOW GOING ON ALMOST A YEAR AFTER STOPPING YASMIN 3 MONTHS AGO! YOU'LL SEE TWO WOMEN HERE WHO-ONE HAD A MINI-STROKE, ANOTHER A LIFE THREATENING PULMONARY CLOT! THIS IS NOT SHIT TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY AND I'M MAD AS HELL THAT SO MANY DOCS ARE PRESCRIBING THIS AND THEN OTHER ANTI-ANXIETY MEDS/ANTI-DEPRESSION MEDS AS A RESULT OF THE CAUSE OF THE DAMN YASMIN.
SERIOUSLY-ABSOLUTELY CRAZY TO FILL OUR BODIES WITH ALL THESE MEDICATIONS. ITS NOT NATURAL AND ....EVERY MEDICATION YOU TAKE LIKELY HAS NO LONG TERM RESEARCH ON HOW IT ALTERS YOUR NATURAL BRAIN CHEMISTRY. THERE IS NO LONG TERM RESEARCH. SERIOUSLY. THERE ISN'T.
FEELING ANXIOUS-/STRESSED (A WESTERN TERMED CONCEPT) IS A RESULT OF CHANGE IN HORMONES AROUND OUR CYCLES. THAT'S NORMAL. NO MATTER HOW CRAZY YOU FEEL BECAUSE OF HOW OTHER PEOPLE DEFINE YOUR BEHAVIOR.
I WOULD RECCOMEND GETTING YOUR HORMONE LEVELS TESTED. SEEING A NATROPATH /HOLISTIC DOC, RUNNING OR EXCERCISING WHEN YOU FEEL ANXIETY AND MEDITATING.
WE ALL HAVE THE CAPACITY TO BE HEALTHY AND TO BE ABLE TO DO IT NATURALLY. DOCS ARE BARELY BEGINNING TO LEARN ABOUT AND UNDERSTAND WOMEN'S HORMONES. TOYING AROUND WITH OUR HORMONES WITH THESE SYTHETIC DRUGS WHICH ARE POISON AND THEN ANTI-ANXIETIES/ANTI-DEPRESSANTS ARE JUST MORE HELL.
ONCE YOU'VE IDENTIFIED YOUR SYMPTOMS, FIND SOMEONE YOU TRUST. PLEASE MAKE ROOM HERE FOR NEW PEOPLE TO READ AND LEARN ABOUT ALL THE EXPERIENCES VERSUS JUST POSTING FOR THE SAKE OF OR OPEN A 1:1 FORUM WITH SOMEONE DIRECTLY. ITS MADDENING AND FRUSTURATING TO SEE OVER 3000 ENTRIES AND NEW WOMEN WRITING WHO HAVEN'T READ THROUGH THIS, JUST STARTED AND NO IDEA ABOUT WHAT THEY'VE GOTTEN INTO.
FILE REPORTS WITH WWW.FDA.GOV AND THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY. UNLESS PEOPLE DO THIS, HOW MANY MORE YEARS WILL THIS CONTINUE? THE FORUM MAY BE GREAT FOR TALKING OUT/GETTING SUPPORT, BUT UNLESS WOMEN TAKE A STAND FOR REPORTING AND DOCUMENTING THEIR PROBLEMS, THIS WILL GO ON FOR YEARS!!!

Hi. At my doctor's suggestion, I just started taking Yasmin 3 weeks ago for perimenopausal symptoms (I'm 47). Since I've started taking it, I have trouble sleeping. I wake up nearly every night after 2-4 hours and cannot fall back to sleep. I also seem to be feeling anxious. As there's no new difficulty or issue in my life at the moment that might otherwise cause insomnia and anxiety, I'm wondering if these are effects of the Yasmin. I can't find insomnia or anxiety as a side-effect in any of the literature on Yasmin. Has anyone else experienced these problems while taking Yasmin? Thanks.

I began taking Advair 250/50 in 1999. I was convinced Advair was a miracle because it worked so well and eliminated the need for a fast acting inhaler within the first few days. However, now 7 years later, I am beginning to have side effects. When they first started, my doctors told me it couldn't be the Advair. According to the doctors, I should have had symptoms initially, not after years of taking it. So, I dealt with the side effects for a year until asking to be taken off of it.
I gained 20 pounds in 5 months (very rare for me to gain weight at all), mostly in the mid section. I feel dizzy all the time, throat hoarseness and voice feels strained when I talk. My eyes are constantly uncomfortable and sensitive to light, and I have frequent headaches. I feel more irritable and shakey when I get hungry than ever before. Often nauseous. I recently developed PVC's and a heart murmur and almost daily have a racing heart and PVC's. The final straw was when I found the correlation between taking my nightly dose and immediately feeling anxious with racing thoughts, tense muscles (especially in legs), and complete inability to sleep for hours until the medicine wears off.
I have now been off the Advair for 3 days, and have switched back to Flovent only. However, I am still experiencing the muscle tension, racing thoughts, and inability to sleep at night directly after taking the Flovent as well. The symptoms wear off a few hours later and only occur directly after taking the night time dose. I am wondering if the Advair has caused some permanent damage.

I took levaquin for 30 days for a bone infection in my toe as a result of an injury. I began to notice that I had joint pain in the morning when I first got out of bed. I thought it was strange, since I'd never experience that before. I then noticed that the pain continued all day long. I then started having trouble sleeping, had weird dreams when I did sleep, and starting feeling anxious. I read the side effects and found out that these are all side effects of levaquin. I was taken off the drug and after about two weeks the pain began to subside. I'm now experiencing some weird sensations in my arms and legs and wonder if this is somehow related to the Levaquin. Scary stuff.

Update.....
I am now about 5 days post Yasmin and the period started this morning. I have been horrifically anxious with panic attacks for weeks now and I don't know if it's because the period arrived or what but today I am much better. Still feeling anxious deep down but nowhere near as bad. I sure hope this continues and improves with each day.
Even yesterday I was crying for no reason and had bad anxiety. Today I seem more controlled, so far anyway. Mornings have always been the worst for me. I can only hope that because I was on this crap a.k.a. Yasmin for only 2 1/2 cycles that maybe my recovery from it will be swift....I pray anyway.
Hope everyone else going through this is feeling better daily too. I still have an appt with my RE/GYN on Thursday to discuss my options and hopefully he will agree to some Xanax as needed. I adore him as a doctor and I hope he doesn't disappoint me.
Happy day to all-
Denise

I have had asthma for over 30 years and have recently been on Singulair. I have gained 15 lbs with no dietary changes and I am active. Recently I have been experiencing rapid heart rate, tense feeling, anxious, and uncomfortable to the point of a "panic attack" type of episode accompanied by sweating and the feeling of almost passing out. I take hormones for flashes (i'm 47) and have been fine with thme but the new med is the Singulair. I stopped it for 2 days and thday is the first day with no "episode". I do not have more tha 1 cup of reg coffee but I have felt like I have had pots of coffee. This stuff is awful. I will stick with an inhaler when needed and go to the health food store for a natural asthma supplement.

I was prescribed Prednisone for only 5 days- my doc said to take it to rule out inflamed sinuses as a cause of my dizzy/lightheaded symptoms.
Well, this medication did everything but take away my dizziness. On my 2nd night I was feeling anxious and had difficulty falling asleep. On my 3rd night, the it got worse. On the 4th night, I felt like something was crawling under my skin- it was so uncomfortable- I kept rubbing my arms and paced back and forth until the feeling went away about 2 hours later. On the last night, I woke up from a nap feeling tender all over- my ribcage, my shoulders, under my arms, my neck, jaw. My jaw even appeared to be swelled. My body was so sensitive to touch that I couldn't even carry my purse on my shoulder the next day as I walked to a doctor's appointment. My doc told me that the tenderness was probably due to a virus that the Prednisone had initially supressed. What do you think? Anybody else ever had these side effects or effects after completion of the Prednisone?
Oh and about the dizziness, it just got worse. I will never take this medication again.

Yesterday my doctor prescribed the dosepack for reaction to a tic bite that wouldn't clear up on antibiotics alone. He also thought it might help my chronic sinusitis. My sinuses are better and my knees which have a little arthritis also feel pretty good. The rash from the tic bite is slowly fading already and I am only on the 2nd day of 6. My only problem is the night time dose. I woke up feeling anxious several times last night and my legs were twitching. I am not looking forward to this evening's dose.

I started Yasmin on a Wednesday, and I was nauseous for the next four days. I was also feeling anxious. That Sunday night, I experienced 3 panic attacks; hyperventilation, numbness/tingling in arms and legs, accelerated heart rate, sweaty palms...I actually went to the the er thinking that I was having a heart attack. After a bunch of expensive tests, everything came up normal. I think that it was the Yasmin. I'm starting a new medication ASAP.

I was prescribed Levaquin 500 for possibility of a low grade infection (101 temp). Within two days I started feeling anxious, unable to sleep, sweating, dizziness, severe pain in both knees and elbows - could not walk. Upset stomachnausea even though I followed instructions to drink a lot of water. Then flashing began in my eyes. I stopped taking the pills after the third day. The other symptoms began to stop. However the flashing in my eyes continued only to be replaced with big black floaters which, I understand, are permanent.
