Hi, I was switced from Atenolol to Toprol-XL 50 mg about 1 year ago for palpatations and it seemed to work very little papations now. However, I am currently experiencing right upper quadrant pain and my triglycerides are over 500. I am told I it is drug induced fatty liver disease? I am slowly weaning myself off this medication because you can not just quit per/pharmacist. I also have gained weight which I can not lose, hair thinning, hard to concentrate, elevated triglycerides, calf pain after walking or excercising, fluid retention, feet swelling etc..... for those of you who are on it I would suggest having your triglycerides and liver enzymes checked.

I took the ring out this morning after putting it in about a week ago. After suffering from manic depression for years, I've learned to watch very closely what happens with my body when I begin a new medication, and one week was more than enough for me.
The day after first put the ring in, I began feeling mildly nauseous, like morning sickness. I couldn't be around certain smells that I've always loved without wanting to throw up, (again like morning sickness,) and god help me if I skipped breakfast! Then the headaches started, like knives through my eyebrows and forehead. The second night I woke up wringing with sweat, and noticed a slight vaginal burning sensation. Stomach bloating became a problem slowly, and I noticed my ankles and feet swelling. None of these side effects went away as the days passed, and I was suddenly needing more and more sleep just to function for a few hours. I'm lucky that I'm currently on vacation from school, because I found myself sleeping up to 15 hours a day.
This morning, I'd finally had it. I woke up at 7 AM because the vaginal burning was too intense to be ignored. I pulled the ring out, grabbed a book, and ended up sitting on the toilet for about 3 hours. Twelve hours later, the inflammation has subsided just enough to be tolerable, and I can't wait for this stuff to get out of my system.
Never again. Never again, says I!

OMG!- These side effects are terrible! I 've also experienced leg cramps, insomnia, irritability, fluid retension , hands and feet swelling. But the cramps are the worst!! I thought that the decrease in dosage would relieve my side effects but they are still there. I am taking this short term for erythema nodosum caused by an antibiotic. I can't wait to get off of this medication. I don't think I want to take this medicine ever again.

I was prescibed levaquin 500mg. 10 days for broncitis, day 3 I had severe leg and muscle pain, also severe swelling in my feet, I feel like I ran a 26 mile marathon!! also severe fatigue. I did not have any symptoms like this before I started levaquin in my life. pharmisist says this not one of the sideaffects!!!! I told him this is a relatively NEW drug so the jury is not in... I think the fda should do more tests on this drug!!!! hopefully leg pain and feet swelling will go away soon, but other people comments is not reassuring!!!

this site is great! i thought i was crazy, now i don't. my 4th month of lamictal and just hit the 100mg mark. at first i was taking it with a 30 mg of an antidepressant but i was irritable as helll!!! once i hit the 100mg mark, i got off the antidepressants and feel way better now just with lamictal alone.
initial side effects wre dizziness and insomnia but that went away. i've never had pimples and now i do. and last night i woke myself yelling having nightmares and haven't slept...
if you miss a dose you go nuts!
ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS WORTH IT...I FEEL WAY MORE CONTROLLED THAN BEFORE I STARTED TAKING THIS...

I was started on Toprol XL 50 mg 3 weeks ago and am stopping it immediately. I have had 3 trips to the ER with shortness of breath and left sided chest pain. Other symptoms include a 10 pound weight gain, leg/feet swelling, difficulty swallowing, tremendous fatigue, headache, periods of feeling faint/lightheaded, extreme nausea and constipation with abdominal bloating. I have never felt so horrible in my life and will NEVER take this drug again.

I have been taking lipitor for 2 years and have esperienced hand swelling with muscle and leg pain. Hair loss has also been noticable. Also have considerable amounts of hand/feet swelling. I have been seeing several doctors for back pain/shoulder pain with the recommendation I need surgery. They have never suggested the medication could be a contributing factor.
I am stopping the lipitor and see doing more research. Thanks for your imput everyone!

my husband started taking zocor the first part of july.by the second week he started having problems with his feet swelling if he was on them anytime at all. by the third week he ended up in the hospitial because of nausia and vomiting. his drs. ran every test they could think of..they decided he had a stomach virus! i kept telling them this did not start till he started taking zocor. week and half later he back in the hospital for another week stay..same results...more tests..more deniles that the zocor had anything to do with it...meanwhile.. my husband continues to swell all over..developes tremors etc. they said his bicarb levels were off, put him on bicarb tabs. a week after that he goes back to the hospitial again, new dr. from group is on call...i pitch a fit..that he was not coming out till they had a definite reason for all this or else!!!
turns out his heart dr. that put him on zocor had also doubled his niacin...and now my husband has hypititis c as the result of this. so all you folks who have had pains in your right side...nausea..vomiting..swelling..might want to get a liver scan and liver biopsy to make sure that your dr. isn't hiding this little fact from you.

I was prescribed to take 30mg/day (Prednisone) to try to reduce the inflammation brought upon by Ulcerative Colitis. I have taken Prednisone before....up to 60mg/day, when I was first diagnosed with UC. I don't really remember all of the side effects I experienced, but I do remember my calves and feet swelling, a bit a of moon face and very little weight gain due to the UC. Does anyone have any suggestions to how/and when I should take the daily dose of Prednisone (early morning, with food...what kind of food)? Also, I would love to hear from anyone with Ulcerative Colitis and how they are coping with the disease. From their diet when in remission to during a flare-up! Thanks...
