I had a lap done last year in May and my doctor removed an adhesion that was hanging above my uterus. Also a fibroid (3 cm) was found in the muscle and is located right against my bladder. My doctor could not remove the fibroid because of its location and because of a risk that I might have scar tissue and could be a problem to get pregnant. He also said that I could have some other complications, like lose a lot of blood. I feel like he is not being straight with me. I also have ovarian cysts which is common in the women in my family. Since a teenager, I always had really bad cramps and heavy bleeding. As I got older, it became worse. Before I had the lap done, I bleed for 6 weeks straight. I was changing pads every 30 minutes. Then my stomach extended so far out that I looked pregnant. I could not sit or stand. My husband had to take me to the E.R. An ultrasound was done and found that my uterus was enlarged (9 cm). I was put on Nothridone to control the bleeding and to treat endometriosis. After taking 2 months of this drug my doctor did a vag lap and abdomen lap. Everything was good that is what he said. I believed it. I was doing better. I was working and had no pain for 8 months. Then it all changed for the worse. I started to have really heavy menstrual bleeding and lots of blood clots. I felt week all the time and sick. The bleeding went on for 8 weeks and finally my doctor said that I had to take Lupron injections. I asked my doctor if he could just do a myomectmy and he said no because that was should be the last result. I could no longer stand the pain and I asked him what kind of side effects come with this drug. He made it sound like it was not bad and that there are very little side effects. He gave me a some information about the drug and I read the information and I did a lot of research. I was terrified but I had to make a choice. I was calling in sick because I could not work with the pain and worrying about embarrassing moments when my pads failed to keep me from overflowing. So I took the 1st shot in May along with add-bak therapy which is Nothridone. The bleeding tapered off slowly and the pelvic pain decreased. I did not feel any side affects right away until the second week. I started to forget things and would just stand in the middle of a room feeling confused. I always had headaches since a child but now they are pounding headaches, which I cannot stand any noise. I also can't stand the light. I have body aches like I have the flu and have problems with my right hip all of a sudden. I had a x-ray done because my doctor thought I might have fractured my hip. There was no sign of a fracture but my pelvis id tilted. I have some arthritis in my spine which I do not understand how that happened. Sometimes I cannot walk and I have to use crutches to get around. I cry all the time because I am extremely sensitive and confused. I use to be a very strong person and now I just cry all the time. I called my doctor to tell him what I have been experiencing and he said its all normal. I have already had a total of three Lupron injections and the symptoms just get worse. I have been spotting here and there, sometimes I have a pinkish discharge, and now the pelvic pain is back. My doctor knows this and he just says its normal. I requested for another ultrasound because I am worried something is wrong and he said that I have to wait until I get the 6th injection.I feel like my doctor is insensitive but he is supposed to be the best GYN doctor where I live. I also want to say that I have gained 20 pounds in three months. My sex drive is gone. My hair is thinning. I lost my job because I ran out of FMLA. This has been a nightmare! I am losing trust in my doctor. My poor husband and family are having to put up with what I am going through. I pray all the time to help be stay focused and think positive. I just do not know what to do anymore. Is there anyone out there that can give me some advice?

I am schedule for a lupron shot on thurs w/my surgeon. I have large fibroids which causes the usual problems, bleeding, etc. I curretnly have lower back and hip pain already due to the size of the fibroids. I am scheduled for a hysterectomy after putting it off for years. My surgeon suggested the shot stating that it would help with shrinking the fibroids and make my surgery easier lap vs. abdominal. Reading this site is truly scarring me I already live with some pain already and have a family history of depression. I have a career I love and make a 4 hour daily commute and it sounds like my life will truly be altered if I choose this. Help!!!

About 8 years ago I was prescribed Zestril by a private physician, after joining Kaiser 6 years ago I was switched to Lisinopril. 20mg/day. I had no problems until about 9 months ago when I suddenly had a SEVERE rash on my arms, back, and legs. After 3 physicians and an ER visit no one could identify the rash and no one asked about BP medications. I changed soaps, foods, clothing, and took lots of Benadryl. No improvement.

I never considered the Lisinopril because I had been taking it for so long.

My last physician was a very knowledgeable female doctor who confirmed that even after years of Lisinopril the side effects can suddenly appear.

It has been two weeks since stopping the drug and my condition has slightly improved but still very bad. Doctor says it could take weeks, months, or longer for symptons to leave.

My biggest complaint is that no previous physician including the ER never inquired about BP meds or Lisinopril. Incompetent at the least, bordering on malpractice.

Has anyone has similar symptons after a long use of Lisinopril?

Well ladies, I don't really have much to add. Weight gain, depression, anxiety, loss of sex drive and as many of you have said the mental problems are the worst.
In high school I tried "the pill" despite my better judgment. Ironically the female doctor I had requested did not believe me when I told her my regular migraines were caused by estrogen. Predictably I became extremely aggressive and angry.Since then I had been taking a pill with no estrogen, a once a day birth control pill, the kind you have to take at the same hour every day.
I changed over to Depo-Provera because I don't trust myself to take a pill with in an hour window. And because with out some sort of birth control I'm worried I might bleed to death. During the short period between the once a day pill and the shot I bled through two tampons and a pad in under five minutes.
I pushed through all of the horrible side effects of the first year, weird bleeding weird discharge. All the ups and downs.
I am glad to say I have no more period.
But I don't know what to do, I'm losing my friends, my life, and myself.
I'm starting to feel like this whole birth control thing is just one big joke. Or worse some sort of sick punishment.
I don't understand how these medications get passed inspection.

Hi everyone,

Had my Mirena out yesterday. Funny how insurance does not cover removal. Are they in on it too??? Absolutely no pain at all. Compared to when it went in, it was a breeze. The only thing the doctor would say about my side effects is that the hormone in the Mirena has been known to cause depressions, but she just looked at me funny when I mentioned all my other symptoms.

My first feeling after having it out was that I didn't feel like I was holding something in, of course, I never noticed that I had a "holding in" feeling, but could feel the difference the minute I got it out. I still have the headache and some dizziness, but not as much as yesterday it seems. It could be that I'm so happy to have this thing out that I'm just feeling better!!!! LOL AND, my skin seems to look better already. Yesterday morning, I was looking at my face up close, and started crying just because it looked awful. It was all just blah, no shine, splotchy, BUT TODAY, I swear it has an even coloring to it. I put on make up for the first time in months because my skin actually looked great!!!

Only had a little bleeding yesterday after removal, and so far none today. I always had a heavy period while on the Mirena so not sure what to expect with it out. I'm just glad the demon thing is gone!!!!!!

I had the Mirena inserted 11 days ago. Since then, I experienced a 4 pound weight gain, increased joint pain, depression, and sore breasts. After reading this message board, I decided I didn't want to wait another day to get it removed. I already have a diagnosed mood disorder and I lost 50 lbs a year ago, which I have successfully been able to keep off through diet and exercise. I didn't want to risk gaining weight and becoming more depressed. I made an appointment to get it removed this afternoon and the appointment was with a male doctor I had never seen before (he was the only one in the practice with a last minute opening). Luckily, my female doctor checked in with me for a minute before my appointment to find out why I wanted it removed. I told her and she said she completely understood. The male doctor later came in and said he couldn't understand why I was having the side effects because the hormones were only in my uterine area and not in my bloodstream. What a jerk! He went ahead and removed it anyway. I am so relieved I found this board and I had the darn thing removed.

hi brittkat,
glad my experiences with yasmin have been able to help you,i was also told that i was suffering from anxiety/panic disorder by my doctor,he prescribed me diazepam,i took them for a while and they made me sooo much worse. then he tried to put me on anti-depressants which i refused.i was sure all along that i did not have an anxiety disorder as i have always managed to cope with life quite well up until 6 months after taking yasmin.i took it for 1.5 years, the first 6 months were fine but the year after that was pure hell,i didn't want to live any more i felt that bad and anxious and depressed,i was scared all the time and had the most terrifying thoughts not to mention constant panic attacks. now i am off yasmin my life is pretty much back to normal except for the memories of my year of pure hell. i lost all faith in my doctor as he never listened when i suggested yasmin could be the problem. i now have a female doctor who is much more sympathetic. i live in the uk so have no experience with gynacologists as seems to be who would deal with these problems in the US but judging by some of the posts they are just as bad a GP's. hang in there brittkat,it will get better! my thoughts are with you!

Hey ladies... so I've just been to 2 doctors in the past few days. About my problems... well, the one jackass doctor is treating me for Depression, which I sort of disagree with.. he would not take my opinion about MYself. The gyno said that there's a really small percentage, like less than 1%, of patients who experience problems with sleeping while taking ANY birth control pill. That guy's an ass, too. I'm not trying to offend anybody, but these doctors, especially male docs, do not understand anything a woman goes through. They know it through their textbooks. And the gyno man actually had to get his Encyclopedia of Birth Control book out to look the information up. That was a waste of a copay. I could've done the exact same thing...and what he told me was what I already knew. He would not let me speak, not explain to him what the other doc told me... And after waiting almost 2 hours to see him, I was pretty much furious last night... and well, did not get much sleep again from it. So, yeah, I guess it's Depression time. And the doc I saw today, who prescribed me meds for it, gave me Lexapro...and one of the occurring side effects, a major one, is sleeplessness/restlessness. Go figure. My advice would be to see a female doctor...someone you trust, someone you can rely on for answers. And try to speak up when you have that chance to. I tried but was unsuccessful. I really don't think I have Depression, but I'm gonna have to see how these new meds work. Good luck, everyone. Keep in touch.

Hi guest 18063!!!

Thank you so much for your post!! You spread the words that I'm feeling and you describe the same thing I experienced ("NO, the pill can't cause SUCH heavy symptoms, YOU JUST have a panic disorder", etc..... And deep in my heart I always knew, that it wasn't at all JUST me, because that's no way the person I am normally!! And I was right!!!).

Just ONE female doctor (endocrinologist) admitted, that the pill CAN really cause such symptoms and that the only thing I could do to find out, is try to get off Yasmin and see what happens!!! (And SHE was so right!!!)

You are absolutely right and it's so delighting to read your words and see, that we are really not alone and there is someone who understands what the docs are doing to us by NOT LISTENING and just looking at their lists or such....

You also wrote about that spironolactone in Yasmin; do you think that this perhaps could have caused the sometimes very heavy muscle aches and muscle weakness in my case (which was one of the worst symptoms besides the panic attacks and fainting spells during december 2004 to may 2005)?? Well, I know now, that Yasmin is definitely causing a lack of vitamines and minerals (especially b-vitamines and magnesium, etc.) and that this could cause such symptoms (and not to forget, that I had been taking that sh.... for 5 long years....). But I don't know how that spironolactone can affect your body....

Would be very helpful to hear from you again!!

Best wishes and big hugs to everyone out there!!

Silke

I was recently given a five day 750mg@day prescription of Levaquin for a treatment of "walking" Pneumonia. During the second day of Levaquin I developed a body rash--like, all over my body. Back to the hospital with seasoned medical "experts" telling me I had "chicken pox", "hives", "herpes", etc..etc... A young female Doctor looked at my rash and diagnosed: "Drug Reaction". She took me off Levaquin, prescribed a two week course of Penicillin, plus drugs to combat the rash and within two weeks the Pneumonia and the body rash was gone. Sooooo, with what I'm reading on this site, my question is: Why is this poison...this Levaquin still being prescribed??

I am a energetic 46 y/o female. Doctor placed me on a very low dose of Zocor after my yearly physical. After only eight days I had EXTREME left side pain. Literally spent four days bedridden. Thought I might have pulled a muscle...but then kept getting worse. I was constantly bent over in pain. Thank goodness for this website!!! Zocor was the only medication I was taking and just by luck I searched for any side effects. I was amazed to say the least. Stopped taking 5 days ago and now I'm back to my old self. PAIN GONE!!!! My 83 y/o mother in law was also on Zocor and was complaining of "back pain". Her doctor scheduled her for an MRI after running many tests to no avail. I asked her to stop the Zocor after my findings on this website. I am very happen to report she is pain-free as well after only 4 days!!!! Thank you all so very much!
