50 Side Effects posted for fentanyl

Hi this is the first time I have posted anything or had any knowledge of how helpful this could be, so here I go
Ive been on Fentanyl patches for about 9 months now where I started and 25 mg a patch every 72 hrs, about 2 months into that I always felt like something was weird about how I felt anymore. I went into my pain doctor and she thought that I needed to go to 25 every 2 days. It seemed to work for my pain for another 2 months and then I started to have more pain. On my 4th month my doctor advised me to go to 50 mg every 72 hours. I started to feel better and after about a month I started to go up and down with weird body feelings. My doctor advised me to go to 50 mg every 2 days. Now after about 8-9 months I finally had enough of strange sensations that she thought I should just get off the patch and told me I was just a fast metabolizing person and that my body was going thru the 50 mg too fast and I was probably having wd from it. She told me I needed to get on suboxone and ween off the fentanyl. I never knew this stuff would happen. Now my real question? Ive been tapering down from 50 to 37.5 and have been on 37.5 every 48 hours and going into the second day I my body just feels so weird and my legs are restless and I just cant get comfortable. Its almost like Im watching the clock praying to make it to the 48 hrs so I feel better. My body feels normal after I put a new patch on about 1 hour after. Then the next morning I am back to strange sensations and pacing like I cant wait until I get the new patch on. I am supposed to use the 37.5 patch until Jan 4, 2010 when my new insurance starts and I can start suboxone. Has anyone got the same feelings I do going down on the patch and Im told its easier to get off suboxone and I wont have as bad as the wd's im having. Any help is appreciated!

My husband started the Fentanyl 50mg last Wednesday. The first patch was OK, then changing it on Saturday, he sleeps - not just a light sleep - heavy sleep, dropping off at any moment. He decided he would rather not be on the patch than feel like he does. Too soon to have any other side affects, but doesn't even remember dropping off. He has recurrent head and neck cancer with severe headaches. He said he would rather take the Advil and take a chance for stomach ulcer than to get worse as time goes on. From the posts that I've read, he made the right decision.

Very high tolerance for medications incl 60mg morphine, 20mg oxycontin 4x day, however, I just cannot seem to tolerate Fentanyl. Have tried it two times in past, both the 25mcg and 50mcg. The first week or so is great, after that the side effects are more than I can tolerate. All of these side effects were extreme and unbearable not just mild. They affected my ability to function and sent me to bed on more than one occasion. Extreme fatigue, nausea, sweating, anxiety and weakness. I felt as though I had a very bad case of the stomach flu. Both occasions I stuck it out for 2-4 weeks till I finally had to quit using it. Any suggestions as to why would appreciated. Some of my side effects aren't even listed in brochure.

My wife had 2 shots in Nov and Dec of 2007 and has all of the side effects listed here. She has seen 3 neurologist, 1 hematologist, 1 pain management doctor, and has an appointment with a Rheumatologist. No medical treatments seems to help (Cymbalta, Lyrica, Topamax, fentanyl for pain) the symptoms continue to get worse. Has anyone found anything to be helpful?

Well here goes, I paranoid, cant go to the bathroom a lot of times, sweaty t times, sick at stomach here and there, get cold limbs sometimes. Cant remember short term at all, I honestly forget 1 minute ago , but not all the time, there is long term memory loss, which i really hate, NERVOUSNESS is horrible, stress and anxiety can be very high , unless my life is in an ideal status which is nearly never, I do get flu effects on and off, I must change patches every two days 10 percent of patients must do this, or you get withdrawals, and that is an experience in its own, you get body tremors really bad back aches, all over. nausea, tremors. If you get really hot a sweat because of the enviroment my patch runs out qucker and then you feel like you are about to collpase from to much drugs, its sort of like you get so weak and thirsty you feel like you will drop dead any moment. so avoid hig heated areas for lenghty time. I double cover my patch with clothing if outdoors without a choice.Im aggressive at times and then im often very depressed, a lot of times. Crying spells , stupid stuff i cant control, and Im no wimp so its hard to deal with. Im an ex jarhed so the weakness is character is hard to swallow. However if I didn't wear this patch i couldnt make it through a day without so much pain, that it would be unbearable. I was in the hospital weekly before this patch. I have severe back issues, things that cant be fixed, well thats it in a nutshell, there is more but you can ask me if you want, i have been on the patch for 3.5 years.

My husband is on the fentynal patch. When it is about time for it to be replaced (about 72 hrs) he starts getting weird feelings in his hands and feet. Can't lie down or get any relief. He has to take an Oxycodone until the next patch kicks in. Don't know is this is withdrawals or what it would be like without the patch. He has haed 4 back surgeries and nerve damage with peripherial neuropathy. The doctors just don't know the answer whether its withdrawals or neuropathy pain.

had a general anesthetic for knee orthoscpoic surgery. Awoke a day and a half later with blister on my palms which the next day turned bright red. My hands were very sensitive and I needed rubber gloves to bathe. Was this due to the drug fentanyl?
