I was prescribed levaquin 750mg for 5 days. I took my first dosage and within 2 hours I was feeling itchy, tired, anxious and felt as if my skin was burning. On the first night I had a panic attack and felt my heart rush and couldn't breathe normally. The very next day I felt as if I was exhausted and believed it was the medication, so I called my doctor to ask if I should discontinue. Fifteen minutes too late she called me back and old me to discontinue, sadly I had just taken the second dosage. Within fifteen minutes of the second dosage my body started to undergo an extreme amount of itching, burning and pinching sensation. I was disoriented and depressed. I suffered sharp pains all day and night and just tried to focus on the next day. I figured after 24 hrs I wouldn't feel the pain and the medicine would be out of my system. I waited a day and a half. When I woke up on the second day after being off the medicine I was feeling extreme pains and nothing had gotten better my husband had enough and took me to the ER. I was admitted and stayed three days. Three horrible days of lab tests, xrays and lots of pain. The doctors could not manage my low blood pressure and had mo idea how the levaquin was attacking my body. I've been out for 2 days now and am still in pain and at time I still feel disoriented.

I had my Mirena inserted about 8 months ago. I talked to my doctor about having it inserted and he consigned the idea. I have irregular, heavy periods lasting about 7 days with bad cramping. I was given a many pamphlets and testimonials from women who all said it was the most wonderful thing. I even read that it was painful getting it put in, but the end results were worth it. So I decided to have the Mirena inserted. The insertion was very painful, but nothing I couldn’t handle. Fifteen minutes after it was over, I was doubled over in pain. I had to call my finance to come and pick me up. Since I have had it in I have been having about 2 -3 periods a month lasting about 5 days. They are certainly lighter than before, but they are extremely painful now. I feel tired all the time, I feel like I want to throw up a lot. I am very moody and worst of all my stomach cramps so bad, sometimes I just cry because the pain is so bad it sends shooting pain down my leg. However, if I take it out I do not know what form of birth control I should use. I rather find that out first and be sure so I won’t be in this situation again.

The doctor was observing me for very low globulin G levels and had me on 500 mg Keflex for a month trying to make my body "respond"? I took a bad sinus infection, went to my ENT, and he took me off the Keflex and put me on Cipro (500 mg) twice a day. I had taken this almost two weeks when my ongoing appt. with the first doctor came due. I called her office and they said I must come on in to get my lab work done. I did and she saw how sick I really was. She took me off Cipro and put me on Levaquin which I had never taken. During the first three days, I got sicker and sicker.
I thought it was just the "sickness" getting worse. One day I sat staring into space for over an hour without realizing what I was doing. Also, that day I noticed large knots in various places (under the skin). I live alone and became increasingly concerned. May I say, during that space in time,
I lost 25 lbs almost immediately. Nassau, sinus worse, felt terrible, and
hurt like the dickens. I could not sleep (and still have problems with it) and thought it all me, having never read anything about side effects. That night at 2a.m. I found the sheets that came with it, read, and identified with
everything written on the paper. I had to take one hand and put it under the opposite arm at the shoulder to help move it from my side. The muscles in the upper arms were like - separated. I found large knots under
my arms as on my body in various places. I could not raise my arms away from my sides. At 8 am I phoned the doc's office. They said, oh! it couldn't be that bad. I faxed the underlined, highlighted sheet to them and fifteen minutes later they called. The doctor said not to take any more
and it should be out of my body in 48 hours, if not see my primary phys.
She knew my GP had retired to help with her son, and had talked to me about taking her place until I got someone. A lot of it was out of my body in approx. 48 hours but my right arm (upper) and upper right leg was a mess. It is some better after April - Oct. taking medicine, therapy, and exercise but I still limp, especially when I get tired. There had been no strength for a long time. It was like the muscles separated and tendons enlarged, strutted, are very painful. The challenges are great up and down steps, etc. Can't lay on that side at night, put pillows under and between legs and when the doctor examining did a "frog-leg" with the right one, it didn't want to hold me up for several days. When I walk it gets to hurting very badly. Can't cross my legs when I sit. Wiggle and turn when sitting.
The very bad thing is this: The doctor never tried to help me get over this. When I went to other doctors for help, most of them looked the other way completely. For example, I tried to tell my new primary about the problems and pain from the muscles and tendons - he suggested lab work and a colonostomy. A rheumatologist kept saying I had "hip" pain. He did sent me for therapy though with a diagnosis of tendinitis in the upper arm.
He never addressed the case and cause. I would like to know if this is something to last the rest of my life. What can be done? You can only have therapy so long. An assistant told me to look this up on the internet.
I did not know this existed but I'm glad to know it has not all been my
imagination or "in my mind". My symptoms: dropped 25# in about three weeks, nausea, depression, sleepless, severe pain, taunt stretched tendons, droopy separated muscles, dizzy, and more. If anyone has any answers of who to contact and what to expect, please tell me. I've had anyone I talked with or saw to make note to never give this to me again.
God bless all experiencing these bad side-effects and make us well
again. --By ******

In the past five years I've gone through two six month Lupron treatments. The first Lupron treatment was given without a Laparoscopy. After being told for ten years that I was one of the unlucky few who have "bad periods", I finally found a doctor who would listen. She diagnosed Endometriosis after I listed my symptoms and put me on a Lupron treatment plan. I had one one-month injection and two three-month injections. Most of my side effects were tolerable; weight loss (almost sixty pounds but I was over weight to begin with), hot flashes, night sweats and memory loss. However, I experienced horrible back and hip pain...to the point of following up with a pain management doctor who insisted there was no reason for me to be in pain.
About four years later I found a really great doctor who performed a laparoscopy to diagnose my endo. She removed fibroid tissue from both ovaries and my colon. My next period was just a horrible so she suggested we follow up with another Lupron cycle. I expressed my concerns with the pain I experienced the first time and she suggested I have add-back therapy. She prescribed a regimen of Estradiol and Norethindrone along with six monthly Lupron injections. The side effects were worse this time around. My depression kicked into overdrive, I was constantly struggling to keep my anger in check, I would wake up dripping from night sweats, hot flashes were bad, blurred vision, memory loss, insomnia and the pain in my back and hips was excruciating. She prescribed Celebrex for my back and hip pain, which didn't help too much. I have a three year old son and had to use a wheel chair when we went to the museum because being on my feet for more than fifteen minutes was impossible.
I've now been off the Lupron for about six months and I have yet to regain any sort of short term memory. My vision is much worse than before I started the second cycle and has yet to reverse. My depression is still bad, as well as anxiety and irritability. However, as soon as the last month of Lupron started to wear off, my back pain did dissipate. I'm still having trouble sleeping but have found solace in Ambien...which could be a bad thing. I don't want to depend on chemicals to help me sleep at night. I just had my yearly exam with my doctor and she apologized for all the pain I experienced. She told me that in all the years she's given Lupron treatments, she had never seen a patient in as much pain as I was in. I don't think I'll be undergoing the Lupron treatments again in the future. I'm currently starting Yaz as a way to keep my periods at bay and only have three or four a year. I'm not real sure if that's a good thing either but we'll see. I have sympathy for all the other Lupron patients out there who experience the bad side of the drug. I don't understand how a medication such as this, which has such drastic side effects, can be marketed to people who are already suffering from pain in the first place.

I started taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo about five years ago. Lately, maybe in the last year, maybe two years come to think about it, I feel like I am in this endless slump. I can't seem to get motivated, I'm depressed, I'm anxious EVERY minute of the day, I feel like I should be in a looney bin. I get hysterical for NO reason whatsoever. Recently, my period hasn't been regulated either and I thought maybe because I quit smoking two months ago that my body was just getting itself back on the right track, but after reading this, maybe just the pill is to blame.
My boyfriend left fifteen minutes before one of our television shows was up tonight and I got hysterical. I was crying and just had NO control. The symptoms are always the worst the week before my period (which means today is just about a week before). I did a self-diagnosis (stupid, I know, but what else could I do?) about probably a year ago and told my mother I thought I may have PMDD.
Then I came online and found this site and I feel relieved (even though I spent the last 20 minutes crying) to know that it IS the birthcontrol pill. So, thanks to all the women on here that gave me some really important insight, I am going to stop ortho. You're all doing a great thing letting everyone know.

I am 54 and began taking Simvastatin 20mg on Jan 11, 2008 my blood panel showed chol 319 ldl 251hdl 44 trig 118 on Jan 26 I experienced chest pain like I had swallowed an ice cube for fifteen minutes and thought it was a side effect of the Statin I went to the surgicenter and was checked in with Troponin at 0.1 after one hour there I had another pain and they gave nitro g and it continued the Troponin level went to 1.6 They sent me to get an angiogram and I ended up getting two stents. just before the procedure after not having eaten for 22 hours my blood panel was done again and my chol was 155 ldl 89 hdl 38 trig 136. my ldl had gone down 162 mg/dl in fifteen days. after two weeks now taking Plavix as well I began having extreme pain in my joints and both knees forearms and calves, so bad I can hardly walk and have been prescribed Darvocet for the pain. I want to stop taking the Simvastatin I am alarmed at the rate of decent and wonder if my symptoms could be a product of too low of cholesterol. I can't get a straight answer from three doctors I've spoken to. I'm being crippled by the cure

I took 500mg of Levaquin once a day for two days. I stopped taking it because of the frightening side effects that I experienced. The doctor prescribed the antibiotic for a mild case of campylobacter. I normally never take medicine for anything, but the doctor assured me that this antibiotic was very strong and would take care of my problem. However, after a few hours after the first dose I began to experience a rapid heart beat, tightness of the chest, and about once every fifteen minutes I could feel my heart skip a beat. Unfortunately, I took another dose the following day, but I experienced much of the same. I stopped taking it after that because I thought that no treatment was worth these effects. It has been 3 days since I took my last dose and my heart is still racing and skipping beats. I told my doctor and he told me that this was just a common side effect of levaquin when caffiene is mixed with levaquin. But I have avoided caffiene for days. It's very scary to have something wrong with your heart when you are otherwise very healthy. I hope these symptoms leave because it's driving me crazy!!!!

Took 1 pill with food within 10 minutes I vomited profusily and my skin itched all over then my lips swelled and tingled. When I awoke 2 hours after taking the pill my eyes were swollen shut and that lasted 3 days. The itching and tingling last for about fifteen minutes and went away.

Unbelievable, I am amazed by what I am reading. I started searching for Toprol side effects tonight because I am a 43 year old woman who is usually very active in the garden this time of year. I have been taking Toprol XL since last September. I can't work in the garden more than fifteen minutes without being out of breath and dizzy. I have no desire to push my lawn mower. If you knew me, you would know there was something seriously wrong if I do not want to mow the grass. I have gained 15 lbs for no apparent reason. I can relate to just about every one on this list. I feel awful most of the time, barely able to keep my eyes open. I also get occasional charly-horses in my legs and more often in my feet. I thought those symptons were due to my weight gain. I have tried to lose some of the weight but it won't budge. I have tried vitamins and trying to get more sleep. Nothing works. I take the Toprol for episodes of severe tachycardia in a-fib. I also have an enlarged left atrial chamber with an aneurysm. Is there some other medication I can take without these side effects???? I have immediately made an appointment to see my cardiologist. thank you for having this forum, I now know what is wrong with me.

Hello All,
I started Yasmin three months ago when my husband and I moved to Italy and boy has it been awful! You don't have to go to a doctor to get a prescription for many drugs, so I went to a pharmacy and asked one of the pharmacists what she would reccommend since a drug comparable to what I have been taking for the last ten years, Ortho Tricyclin, is not available here. She gave me Yasmin.
I have a heart condition and have always had heart palpatations, but never like this. Yesterday I bent over to pick up a book and thought I was having a heart attack. It was awful. About two months into taking the pill, I was doing a pilates video that I have done dozens of times before with no problems and fifteen minutes into it I had to sit down because I could barely breathe and my heart was beating so hard. Most every day I find myself thinking about breathing, having to purposfully take very deep breaths to make sure that I am actually getting oxygen.
Also, I have been experiencing major mood swings, depression and anxiety. I thought that it was due to the new enviroment, but now I am not so sure. This was the first month that I did not have at least one day where I was a total bitch. Anything anyone said pissed me off. I feel sorry for all of the folks that have been around me that past few months! Especially my wonderful husband who is always so supportive.
I can also mention headaches, massive neck and back tension, lower back pain, lethargy and insomnia.
I have four pills left in this pack and I am not so sure that I want to take them. I am glad that I was referred to an English speaking gyno here. I'll be seeing her soon.
I wish you all good health.
Bright Blessings.

I was prescribed Meprozine after having my wisdom teeth pulled and I accidentally took two. After about fifteen minutes I started feeling very peculiar and suddenly....I was FLYING, literally flying. So the next day I got a doctor friend to write me an endless prescription of the stuff, sold my car, and now whenever I want to go somewhere I pop two capsules, put on a sweater and fly.

This drug was given to me along with toridol for a sinusitis attack. After fifteen minutes I screamed to have my IV taken out and began jogging around the room; not good since I had undergone back surgery two weeks prior. The nurse unhooked everything and said he had seen the same reaction that night with a similar case of migraine. He said it should wear off after fifteen minutes. Twenty minutes later the doctor came in and suggested that I have a shot of Benadryl to sleep. No sleep came. I have also experienced this reaction with compazine, except with compazine, I feel like I could run a marathon, but can't move. With Reglan, I run around and feel jumpy and insane. I came home that day and took more Benadryl. I walked laps around the mall. Still no change. Just waiting to get tired.

I have been using bisacodyl laxatives for over a dozen years. Unfortunately due to the tolerance I my body has developed for this medication, I am often required to use between ten and fifteen tablets per dosage -- and I need to use them every night or morning. Since nearly the outset of my using this laxative, I have suffered from severe, intense, INTOLERABLE cramping of a degree I have never experienced with any other medication or from any other product. The cramps and pain are so severe that it is difficult for me to even put it into words. The pain emanates from just below my breast bone, in the center of my ribcage. It is so debilitating that the ONLY way that I can achieve even a slight degree of relief is to ball up a pillow or some similar object and place it directly where the pain is centered. The intensity can last anywhere from fifteen minutes up to and beyond an hour. It's made me late for work, for school, and is often accompanied by nausea, cold sweats and vomiting. I am seeking out others who have experienced these side effects after using this product to see what alternatives exist for me, and also to see how they might alleviate some of the pain. It is without question the most hideous, horrific pain I have ever experienced. Any thoughts?

I started taking 400mg yesterday for a sinus infection. Fifteen minutes after my FIRST dose, my stomach started cramping. About five hours later I noticed muscle pain in my thighs all the way down into my toes. It was like I worked out at a gym. This morning I have a metallic taste in my mouth that even lemon water won't cure. I have a VERY HIGH tolerance for medication and usually have to double whatever is prescribed. Fortunately I did not do that with this med since it was new to me. I will not be taking anymore. I will go back to the amox and deal with the infection. I read that apple cider vinegar was good for that - without the side effects. Seriously, beware if you are sensitive to drugs. This one surprised me.
