I was put on Singulair two weeks ago and since then I have have experienced everything from hyperactivity and insomnia to flu symptoms and loose bowel movements. I contacted my doctor after 3 days because I was having tingling in my hands and feet, flu symptoms, cramping etc but no fever and otherwise fine...He said the benefits outway the side effects so take half. I continued to take half. The cramping reduced and so did the other physical type side effects, but I started feeling like Superwoman. Instead of sleep I sterilized my house, wrote emails, tended to laundry, etc...and then continued my normal day with a smile and pep that I would not expect. I really had no desire to eat. The thought just made me cringe. After two days of no sleep and hyperactive state I decided I am done. I stopped taking it...and I took my son, 6, off it as well. He had been taking it for 4 years and was presenting with signs of hyperactivity. It has been one week...he turned yellow, became more hyperactive, talked about how the man in his room is gone now. He had struggled with sleep since he started Singulair but there were no side effects at the time that listed bad dreams, hallucinations, hyperactivity etc...It has been one week and we watched our son turn yellow as he withdrew ...he could have been spider man break dancing on the ceiling for the first few days. His teachers and even the bus driver had sent home warnings about his behavior "can't sit still" ...the last 3 days of school he has been on "green" which means great behavior. I do not think anyone should give this drug to kids...and it should not be given in sample forms either to any doctor trusting patient...without a full discussion of these side effects. I feel like I just went thru hell and put my son thru hell.

I am a 21 year old female and just started taking paxil for anxiety & depression. My mother is on the same thing (heart problems run in the family), and I have only been on it for 2 weeks so far, but have experienced many side effects. They have included: Dry mouth, headaches (only a couple slight ones and this wasn't bad since I do get migraines now and then), urinating more frequently--especially the first few days but this has already gotten better-- strange, vivid, night-marish dreams, flu-like symptoms (I missed 2 days of work last week due to this, and it is hard to know if it was the meds or not since the flu is actually going around!), a very itchy rash on my left inner wrist that came and went the same day, mood swings--which I also had before-hand, however-- More hungry but also get full fast, so I eat more often but have smaller portions.

The plus-side so far is that my boyfriend and I both notice I am happier. I feel more like I use to and it's nice. I just don't know yet if it is worth the side effects now and when I need to get off of it.. I am concerned also about getting pregnant and what will happen then if I am still on the paxil. I have read about a lot of health problems with pregnancies and birth with women who are on paxil even during the first trimester, yet you are not suppose to abruptly stop taking it. Has anyone else gone through this I can talk to or who can post about it?? I'm nervous that I am just too young still to be on it and I do want a family.. also has anyone heard of paxil causing infertility? I have been looking for more info but not found what I'd like...

Thank you, C.

I have been on Yasmin for YEARS, and just recently I have noticed that when I take the first pill in a new months pack, I wake up at 2 in the morning with severe nausea. Very jittery and can't sleep because I am trying not to throw up. I always end up throwing up around 3 and then again when I wake up. It is so disturbingly like morning sickness that I start to wonder a little bit if I could ACTUALLY be pregnant. It is driving me nuts! Any of you ladies experiencing this? Thanks! Good luck to us all. :)

I was on Nuvaring for exactly 2 weeks and 1 day and for the first few days it was great. The only side effect I seemed to be getting was the breast swelling and tenderness. Then about a week in, I started getting cramps that were very short (5-20 seconds or so) but very painful, and then came mood swings. I was very depressed. I didn't want to go anywhere or be around anyone.I would get angry at my fiance and want him to shut up and go away if he tried to have a conversation with me, but then I would cry hysterically if he was on the computer or not paying attention to me for any longer than about 20 minutes. I didn't want to move from the couch. All I wanted to do was nap or eat. If I wasn't doing either of those I was yelling or crying. So, my fiance and I did some research and found that the nuvaring could cause all of that. I took it out, and my mood swings immediately became less severe, and now, after having it out a week are almost gone. The problem is, I just started my period this morning and I am just pouring blood like no one would ever believe, and I have cramps worse than I have ever felt before. I am wondering if I should go to the emergency room or wait this out and call my Gyno on Monday.

I had the Mirena put in a week and a half ago..the pain was bad for the first few days, but it's decreased a lot. I've been spotting off and on. But the weirdest thing about having this is that unlike most of the stories I've read on here, my sex drive has gone up, a lot! I had a fairly high sex drive before, but now, even though I'm sexually active almost every day, I'm still craving more..every good looking guy I see gets me riled up. Not complaining..kinda hope this lasts a while.

I was on Singulair while pregnant because my asthma got worse while pregnant. Postpartum I noticed my 2 month old breastfed baby was still sleeping way too much and very colicky. I tried cutting out dairy and other allergens but nothing made a difference. When I forgot to take my Singulair a couple days in a row, I noticed my mood was much improved and the anger/irritability went away. Finally, after noticing I was having vivid, bad dreams, I began to realize it might be all from the Singulair. I also had developed a stiff, tight neck and vision loss, which I now realize was also from being on Singulair.
I went off of it and must say, that was the worst week of my life. I never felt so horrible or out of control. Although I noticed the first few days, I was happy and feeling again (it made me emotionally numb) by the fourth day, I began having heart palpitations and bad headaches. I quickly got my thyroid levels checked and those were fine. Then I suddenly had severe panic attacks! I thought I was going crazy! This was mistakenly misdiagnosed as PPD, although I was never even depressed. I was given a script for Zoloft and took Ativan but that didn't take away the panic and the Zoloft seemed to make the panic worse!
I began researching and realized all of my symptoms were from Singulair withdrawals! Even my family noticed I became a mean and hateful person with this last pregnancy. This drug is an awful poison! I am slowly recovering and feeling better everyday. I'm using my fast acting inhaler for the time being. Instead of the therapy I thought I needed for PPD (mis dx'd obviously) I'm also using herbs to treat this homeopathically with a natural doctor since conventional ones still want to pass it off as something it is not due to ignorance that an asthma medicine can wreck this kind of havoc on a person! They just want to use more drugs to treat the side effects of another drug!
I am so angry I took this while pregnant and breastfeeding being told it was okay. It was not okay and I hope and pray there are no long term side effects to my child from this drug!

I was on doxycycline for three weeks because the doctor believed I had Lyme disease due to the slight headache, mild fever, and aching joints that I was experiencing. I was fine for the first few days, but then I began to develop some unusual symptoms. The symptoms fluctuated day to day, but I was never free from one or more of these symptoms: severe headache, chills, night sweats, tingling in my arms, weakness in my legs, ear ache, numbness in my face (especially my eyes and lips), anxiety, depression, insomnia, pain in my eyes, and neck, and stiffness in my jaw. At the end of three weeks, I seemed to have more Lyme symptoms than before I began the medication. My Lyme test was negative, but with my continuing symptoms my doctor recommended that I take the medicine for ten more days, and retest for Lyme. The first day back on the medicine I was sicker than ever. I waited it out because the doctor insisted that it was the best thing to do. I finished the medicine, and the effects were less intense. My second Lyme test was negative. I am being tested for Fifth's disease (my son was ill with it just as I began to experience my swelling joints - a condition that can not be treated, uggh). I seem to get worse if I don't drink all day and night - a lot of water is needed, all the time. The effects also increase when I go to bed, recline on the couch, allow myself to become nervous about my condition, or over work myself through the day. I was at the pediatrician with my son yesterday, and mentioned my problem, wondering how long it could take to get the medicine out of my system. She told me it could be as long as a few months. It's been two weeks since I took my last pill.

I have great experience with this pill unlike others. Just like with any pill you can get melasma which is dark spots on your skin. I got few but from my previous pill witch was Yaz (it was terrible; daily headaches, no periods which is normal but kept buying pregnancy tests because of it, terrible breast soreness, vaginal dryness, zero sex drive). With this pill, at the beginning of taking this pill, first few days I felt little nauseous but nothing that bothered me. First month I had some breakthrough bleeding but that was gone after a month. No headaches, slight breast increase which I am not complaining about (it can happen in pills with higher estrogen). No breast soreness, no weight gain, no darkening of the skin so far, sex drive is normal. The only negative, this pill costs $75.

On Doxycycline 100mg twice a day for 12 days then 200mg twice a day for 12 days for very-likely Lyme Dz (fever, hip rash) apparently diagnosed in the first month of infection. First few days on Doxy I had a lot of esophageal spasms (kind of a cramping in the middle of the chest), but those subsided.

About the time I was finishing the 24 day course of Doxy, got red-violet itchy rash of both hands just over the lower knuckles (where the fingers meet the hands) after a long drive - unsure of sun exposure. Just walking in the sun for a few minutes sets it off. Little improved now 6 days off the Doxy. I'm a doc and first wondered if it was a sign of dermatologists - a pretty bad disease that includes a knuckle rash and muscle breakdown and is sometimes related to Lyme or cancers! It was very reassuring to read all the patient prior reports here of very similar problems on Doxycycline. This is a great site and glad to contribute to it with my story.

I started taking Femcon FE about 6months ago. The first few days were horrible because of cramping and nausea; but then, things seemed fine. About 8weeks after starting the pill I began to have small anxiety attacks. Not thinking it could be my pill, I just let it go. Now I am having panic and anxiety attacks EVERYDAY and they are BAD. I even went to see a therapist because I thought I was going crazy!! However, after finding this web site, I am now switching pills!! I didn't think a pill could play those type of tricks on your mind! I am 26 years old.... I don't need this added stress in my life right now!! So thank you to all who have posted their experiences with Fem Con.... I now know I'm not going crazy.... it's just this pill!

Until yesterday, I took 14 days of a 4 week prescription of 100 mg twice a day doxycycline for a tick bite rash. I rarely take any medication. The first week I just had mild side affects. Late in the second week I started to notice that I was becoming increasing anxious for no apparent reason. Even after hard exercise the anxiety seemed to be persistent as if an impending panic attack. Yet, I had no external reason to explain the anxiety.

After two additional days the anxiety seemed to keep ramping up and I began to get very dizzy when I moved suddenly or bent down to pick up items from the floor. The pressure behind my eyes also feel like it was increasing. I was afraid my blood pressure was spiking but in actuality it was probably either cranial pressure or simply an fight or flight anxiety response. I also experience some pretty vivid dreams.

I finally searched online and found no official symptom of anxiety for doxycycline but found people complaining about it unofficially. I spoke with my pharmacist who also said she had no listing of anxiety as a known symptom for the drug. She suggested I stop taking it and see if my symptom subside.

It has been 24 hours since my last dose and the anxiety has reduced substantially but not completely. I feel like I have a hang over today but otherwise I do feel an immediate improvement. I am still a little dizzy but not like yesterday.

Like all drugs, you should be very cognizant of how the drug affects your body - even if a physician tells you otherwise because only you can really tell and everyone has different bio-chemistry which reacts in different ways to different drug compounds.

The first few days were terrible for me, constant headaches and crazy mood swings. I'm on day 14 and things are starting to get better, except for the fact that i started bleeding yesterday (not spotting, period bleeding). My appetite is back to normal and my mood swings have calmed down quite a bit so I'm not as crazy (according to my boyfriend), but I do still have moments where I KNOW I overreact. I'm going to stick with Femcon and see how my body adjusts to it over time, hopefully the breakthrough bleeding will subside and I'll get back on track with my normal cycle. I'd say keep with it unless you're having unbearable side effects. Good luck to all of you! =)

I'm 24. Ive been on this medication for about a week. I was put on it because of a kidney disorder. The first few days I had dizzy spells suddenly, and nausea. 2 nights ago I had bad heart pain for hours that kept me awake. I'm getting hot flashes about every 30 mins that are driving me nuts.

I'm 25, almost 26, and have been on Loestrin 24 Fe since August of 2008. I really did not notice any side effects other than lighter periods for the first few months. I think I had a little bit of nausea the first few days, but figured if I ate before taking it (I take my pill in the morning) it didn't upset my stomach. I had a very heavy cycle in February and have not had one since. I have taken several pregnancy tests and called my Dr. and she said it was normal and I wouldn't have that many cycles. Well the last 2 months I have had the most severe mood swings. My husband is about to go nuts, poor guy. I started working out again to see if that would help, and it has for the most part, but I still get very defensive about the littlest things. I'm thinking of trying something different, but am going to try it for a bit more and see if exercise helps.

I am so glad I found this site. I'm 42 and the doc put me on these stupid pills because of ovarian cysts. The first few days were fine but by day 4 I had awful stomach and lower back pains and by day 9 I had leg pain. I have had awful insomnia which I NEVER had before. One other thing that I thought was odd I woke up in the middle of the night soaking wet, like I had peed myself but it wasn't urine. I thought I was really sick and then out of curiosity I googled these pills and was shocked at what I found. I will stop taking them tomorrow, it's not worth it. The body and joint aches are awful not to mention the bloating. I look like I'm 5 months pregnant. I wish I had seen this site at the first sign of my symptoms because I would have stopped right away. I was really starting to think I was going crazy.

My daughter is a 4 year old child started on Singulair after she was unable to tolerate Zyrtec. For the first few days her allergies seemed better and we were encouraged by her improved allergy symptoms (allergies to poplar trees, grass, and lambs weed manifest as headaches, itching (usually of the extremities), and stomach aches). However, after 2 days her behavior became increasingly erratic. She was emotional, tantrum prone, irritable, anxious, and had difficulty sleeping although she appeared and said she was exhausted/tired. After several weeks on Singulair, we stopped the medication to determine if it was causing the behavioral and sleep problems. The symptoms stopped after discontinuing Singulair and she went back to her usual happy, well behaved self. After being off of it for several weeks we decided to try it again due to her allergies flaring up and wanting to be sure it was the Singulair causing the behavioral problems (because for all of its negatives, the greatest positive about Singulair is that it definitely helps her allergy symptoms). Unfortunately, the irritability, anxiousness, tiredness, tantrums and insomnia returned. We tried giving it to her at different times during the day but the symptoms were still present (although she slept a little better when we gave it to her in the morning). We also tried cutting the dose in half and giving it to her around noon. Decreasing the dose did help with the symptoms to some degree, but they were still bad enough to outweigh the benefits of taking the drug. As a nurse, I love Singulair for the relief it provides allergy sufferers...unfortunately for my daughter, the side effects outweigh the benefits. Given the rates of ADD, ADHD, and other behavioral problems diagnosed in children nowadays, I thought it pertinent to report these symptoms present in my daughter that are solely caused taking this medication.

This medication is deadly! I was prescribed 100mg twice a day for 2 weeks for a supposed pelvic infection (don't know yet if that's actually what I have - personally I don't think so). I took it for 6 and a half days (equals 13 pills) and when I found this website and read people's experiences I immediately quit. I experienced some mild nausea the first few days but didn't relate it to the Doxycycline. Then I noticed I was having more bowel movements than normal (5 in one day). I thought maybe I was eating too much fiber as I had increased my intact recently. Then on the 6th evening everything fell apart. I was panicking for no apparent reason; it was just washing over me in waves. My heart was racing and felt like it was going to pound right out of my chest. I barely slept that night because every time I drifted off I startled awake with my heart racing. My body felt weird but I don't know how to explain it; my feet were tingly. The next morning I got hit with diarrhea (I'm usually constipated). Then that whole day I was sobbing on and off throughout the day. I felt like I had hit rock bottom. I wanted to die but was trying to fight these thoughts. I thought I was going to go crazy and start screaming. That was yesterday. I did not take my evening dose then and today have not taken my morning dose and will never take it again. I managed to sleep during the night although my whole body was super tense. Today I am doing better already but am very nauseous. My stomach & back hurt a bit but I am not sure if it is because of the Doxycycline or not, because I have been having a lot of health problems lately. Looking back on the last week, I can see the other side effects I was having which included being really cold (which is totally unlike me and it's summer), occasional ringing in my ears, burning in my abdomen, mild headaches, dry lips, trembling, my face feels hot...I can't remember everything. The panic & depression was the worst. Don't take anti-anxiety meds or antidepressants to combat this. I have been on them and they make things worse -- withdrawal can take months and is hell-like. Just get off the Doxycycline.

I've been on NuvaRing for a little over 2 weeks now, before that I had been using the OrthoEvra patch. The patch was working just fine but it's less convenient in the summer (esp in TX) because sweating does cause the sticky stuff to ooze around the edges and I often found the patch stuck to my clothing. So, back to the ring...the first few days I swear I could feel it inside me but I gave it some time and figured I would get used to it which I have. I haven't experienced any of the other symptoms you all are sharing about but I have had horrible pain in my hips. It's not a joint pain, I think it is actually swollen lymph nodes. My OB/GYN said they had not heard of this type of side effect and suggested Tylenol and fluids and of course to call back if worse or if no better in 3 days. Is anyone else having hip pain or issues with their lymph nodes (hip area)?

I'm on my first pack, and last night i started using the first brown pill. I don't think this crap is working for me at all. From what Ive read almost every one is getting the same symptoms as me. I thought I got my period last Saturday, but its the next Sunday now. Ive had it non stop for 8 days. I don't know if this is my period of if im just spotting. On the first few days I had ridiculous cramps and i didn't feel like doing anything but lay around. The cramps have gone away but the bleeding is still occurring. Its getting old. I also developed a canker sore on my bottom lip about a week ago. I usually never get them except once or twice a year. and Ive been super tired at night and get barely any sleep at night and wake up the next day and be full of energy. But I really don't like bleeding this much. My friend who is on this also said she had her period for a month. Now that its summer i don't want to have to worry about it while im at the beach or in the pool. if this lasts much longer i think im going to quit.

I just started taking Yaz about a week ago. So far I have noticed both good and bad things about this pill.
The good side to Yaz is: It got rid of my cramps & made my period soo much lighter, I couldn't believe it. You know how your period is usually heavy the first few days, then gets lighter towards the end? Well the entire time it felt very light like how it normally would feel the LAST day of my period.

The down side to Yaz: My mother & boyfriend have both noticed that I am a bit more snappy/moody since I started taking it, and I am very tired and feel fatigued in the morning- I've been having a hard time getting out of bed! Also, sometimes before bed I feel a little nauseous.

As for now, I am going to continue taking Yaz, UNLESS my mood swings get worse or I experience any other side effects.
I am 19 years old by the way, if that helps.

What's worse is that my sex drive is gone and I feel angry all the time! I'll definitely be getting off of this pill soon! Does anyone have any recommendations for a different pill???

I have had my Mirena in for almost 5 years. I had it put in 7 weeks or so after my son was born. It settled in the cervix within the first few days. The strings were too long and they were hanging outside of the vaginal area. It was extremely uncomfortable. I went back in to have them cut and the length was great ever since. Other than it was poking my husband during intercourse. That effect took about a year for the strings to soften up. The first 2 months or so I had bad bleeding almost what is was like after giving birth. I do sometimes feel it inside me, especially when I get cramps. Sometimes I go one to two months without a period then when it does come it's heavier than normal. But not bad enough where I can where a tampon. Within the last year and half I have become bloated most of the time. I go a week or so without bloating. I usually get cramps for two weeks before my period starts and it comes every 24-26 days. I'm cranky too. I cant' wait to get it out!!!

I had the Mirena put in 2006 after my third child. I talked with my sister who had it put in a couple of years before. She could not handle all the other birth controls. It was very uncomfterable being put in but not untollerable. I spotted off and on the first couple of months. Had cramps for the first few days. After that nothing at least i though nothing till i read all these. My husband is in the Army, we moved to Germany the next year, I got very depressed. I also gain some weight not a lot but enough to notice. I was very moody the time i had the Mirena and felt very stressed all the time. I had the Mirena removed in 2008 so we could try to have another baby. It was not so bad getting it taken out as being put in. I bleed heave after for about 5 days. I also lost some of the weight not doing anything different. When my husband got home we tried to get pg for 18 days straight and nothing. The Mirena is not for everyone and you should think about it before you get it and keep in mind all the things different women have gone through to see if its happening to you as well.

I changed to Femcon Fe from orthotricyclen after some break-through bleeding. Within the first few days I had nausea, vomiting, and cramping. But the worst side effect was the mood swings. I became very angry and restless. I felt like a totally different person, and the people around said so too. Bottom line is I switched back to orthotricyclen before my first pack of femcon fe was even finished...I would rather have breakthrough bleeding than feel like my blood is boiling with rage.
