Thanks and blessings to everyone who has posted problems with Lisinopril on this site.
I am a 60 year old Caucasian male who was put on Lisinopril 10 mg by my doctor in conjunction with 54 mg of Concerta for treating me for ADHD. Two years later I finally discovered that the “ADHD” was caused by my progressive glasses being one diopter too strong causing Induced Dyslexia. The real problem was not my ability to mentally focus or “follow a task list.” The real problem was my inability to read what was in front of me, let alone find the list.
I now have a correct progressive glasses prescription and computer glasses for seeing what is on my monitor so that I can think again. I weaned myself off the Concerta and haven’t felt this good in 5 years EXCEPT for when I came down with the flu five months ago (despite taking the flu shot – which we now know only worked 40% of the time). After being ill for six weeks with the flu, however, almost all of the flu symptoms were gone except for the dizziness and fatigue.
I was so dizzy and exhausted that “I felt like I was on some type of drug.” That was when I realized that I WAS taking a prescription drug - Lisinopril.
It was also when I discovered your webpage and the side effects of Lisinopril of dizziness and fatigue.
I stopped taking the Lisinopril and within 36 hours the dizziness and fatigue was gone and I feel great. Mentally I think that I am also much more alert, and think that the Lisinopril also increased the confusion that the Concerta was supposed to help reduce.
Again, THANK YOU.

Been taking Lipitor for several years. I am 51
Tired all the time. Don't feel like exercising at all. since I got a flu shot have been experiencing sharp pain in upper arm near and including shoulder.
Taking Lipitor, 40 mg qd.
The arm pain feels like it's near the bone.
The only other explanation for the pain I can think of was the nurse hit a nerve when giving me the flu vaccine.
Otherwise I fear it may be from the Lipitor. I told my doctor about it. He made no response whatsoever. not even to suggest any further tests, x-rays etc. to see what might be causing the pain. Gave me free samples of...you guessed it...more Lipitor.
At next appointment I will tell him the pain is still there (3 months).
If he does nothing then I will stop taking the Lipitor and take my chances.

I’m a 47 Year old male Diabetic. I was prescribed Lisinopril about a month ago by my doctor, as a protection against kidney damage. I have a some experience with drugs, as I have a degree in medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry. I must stress that I knew nothing about the side effects of this drug before taking it,( I didn’t even read the instructions – that will teach me!) so for those who suggest that the problems are ‘imagined’ from reading the literature, in my case its just not true. I was given a 10mg daily dose, within the first day I started coughing, and suffering flu-like symptoms. As I had been given a flu-shot at the same time I just put this down to the injection. For the next few days I was feeling nauseous , achy and the cough was getting worse. I was finding it difficult to sleep, and found myself falling asleep all the time. After 4 or five days I started to have breathing problems, I was short of breath all the time, I found it difficult to climb stairs, and was waking in the night gasping for breath. I was also starting to find it difficult to concentrate. After about two weeks I returned to my GP, and advised him of the symptoms. He checked my chest, but could find no problem. He thought it was probably due to the flu jab, and would clear up in a few days. However I was starting to feel much worse. I was becoming distressed and irrational, my body was constantly aching, the cough was getting worse, I had no energy, and was becoming seriously depressed. I was suffering from blurred vision and stomach cramps, and eventually was escorted from work by my boss, as I was on the verge of a breakdown. All this time I was blaming it on the flu-shot, as Lisinopril is so commonly prescribed I couldn’t imagine that this was the cause. By chance a friend mentioned that he had had problems when he started taking it, So then I checked out the leaflet and the internet. There it was, all my symptoms – I was not going mad! I returned to My GP last week, A locum was standing in, who recognised the symptoms and told me to stop taking it. She commented ‘Your not the first I’ve seen with these problems’. I’ve been off for 3 days now and I feel a million times better.

I wish I found this site before I started taking this crap. I started Advair again about two weeks ago 50/500 one puff at night and one in the morning. At first I would just get a little dizzy sometimes when I took it and a mild head ache a couple times but the last three nights I keep waking up and its hard to get back to sleep even though Im tired and I have noticed my heart beating faster then normal. I have only been getting six or five hours of sleep a night which is not enough for me especially because I have been surfing for hours the last few days. I do think it has helped my ashtma when I go surfing but after reading all of these bad side effects I dont think I will ever take it again. The last time I took it was about a year ago and stoped because it made me feel dizzy and I only took it for about two weeks. Before I started it again I told the doctor that it made me feel dizzy a couple times and he said people just accomodate to it. Its to bad they cant make something that helps my lungs like it does without all the bad side effects. Im going to not use it tonight and see how I sleep and tomorow when I go surfing I will see how my lungs are without it.

My husband had a TIA in July of 2004 and had some short term memory loss and has polycythemia so in fall of 2004 doctor put him on 10 mil of lipitor , I immediately noticed a difference in him he couldn't remembeer things like he did before had skin problems hurt all over but dr. could not believe it was lipitor so in March of 2006 put him on 20 mil. of lipitor to lower his cholesterol more, he started getting hateful, mean and hard to live with. Nov. 15 we got a flu shot and 2 days later he lost it completly didn't know where he was what he was doing and didn't remember me. It came and went for a week and on 24th. put him in hospital. Doctors did all kinds of tests and could not find what was causing his problems so told me to put him in nursing home in the lock down ward, I couldn't do it so brought him home with ativan if I needed it so 2 times in 5 days I had to give it to him and was odd as his problems always came on at night after taking his lipitor. so on the 5th day looked on the computer and immediately knew what his problem was so stopped it right then. He is slowly getting better has good days and bad days. I am hoping it will improve some. The sad thing is the doctors wont agree with me that lipitor has caused all his problems. I wish there was a way to broadcast it so other people could see what can happen and if I could just prevent one person from having to go through wat we have been and still are , I think that would be wonderful
Thank you

I started taking advair since this fall. i was really sick with cheat cold, sore throat, stuffy nose the works. I did not have the flu shot so naturally, having asthma, my symptoms were worse. I had about 6 asthma attacks before taking Advair 250/50. I sent to an asthma doctor nhe recommended this to me. Yes it helped. I still had about 3 asthma attacks while i was sick.
What i noticed was voice loss: squeaky voice, straining. I just thought it was me being sick. when i got better i noticed my breathing more. It takes me so long to eat or drink everything! It feels like there is pressure on my chest or the need to burp in order for me to feel better. I continue eating and it starts again. I didnt understand it at first but now i do. It has to be advair becuase i never elt like i had to burp so bad and stop doing my normal tasks.
I try to take Advair 1 everyday instead of twice a day. Today my sibling seen on the news that Advair is causing more deaths then helping asthmatics.
SO SHOULD I STOP TAKING IT ALTOGETHER? OR SWITCH TO SOMETHING ELSE? IF SO WHAT?

My first Gardasil shot was at the same time as a flu shot and meningitis shot. I almost passed out right after the Gardasil. It was painful. I was fine after about a half an hour and was just sore for a few days. I felt fine and normal after that. I just had my second shot a few days ago and it wasn't as painful, It hurt at first but I was fine after about 10 minutes. I have experienced some sharp headaches that come and go all day. I have fatigue and feel weak. I don't know if it is the Gardasil, but seems to be. My arm is still very sore. I can't hold it up or in one position for too long. They made it seem like such a great thing to get this vaccine, but I'm not so sure anymore. Good Luck!
