I feel A LOT better now after reading these. I had my nuvaring in for almost 3 weeks, i had horrible headaches, and started bleeding after the first week it was in. I took it out 2 days ago because i couldn't stand the migraines anymore, and I had horrible cramps. Ive been very irritable and angry. How long does it take for the bleeding to stop... I'm getting kind of worried now, because ive been bleeding for 9 days. Its starting to get heavier, and i had a weird clot today. I booked an appointment to see my doctor because this is driving me crazy. I am NEVER using the nuvaring again. I started it because 1.EVERY single pill ive tried has cause me to become depressed 2.I bled for 3 weeks when i used the patch and my doctor told me to stop and 3.I don't want my period to stop, or gain weight so i refuse to try depo. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I have 2 year old twins, and i want another kid within the next 3 years, so i refuse to use an IUD and possibly screw that up for myself.

I went online tonight to see if I could find a connection between the severe tooth and gum pain I've been experiencing and Singulair - the only prescription drug I'm on. What a revelation! I am so angry! My teeth are sore, my gums are red and receding, my bite has changed, and I'm grinding my teeth. I know its the Singulair! Now I am also wondering about the worsening social anxiety and isolation I've been experiencing. I'm off this poison forever and going back to herbal remedies. Have I ever been a fool!

Like most of you, I thought it was just me. I got the Mirena inserted in Oct. 2006. My doctor said it was great, bare minimum side effects and I was a great candidate for it. She said the pill was the cause for my headaches and I should go with the Mirena. So like a fool I did, trusting her.
I was assured it was painless to insert. Like hell. I was prepared for my period to be messed up for the first 3 months, and it was. There were very sharp pains in my abdomen, which no one told about, that lasted at least 3 months. But I was stupid enough to want to wait a little longer to see if things got better.
After 6 months or so, things did get better, for a while. Fortunately, I didn't have most of the side effects the rest of you had (weight gain, feeling crazy, nausea). However, I did begin to have pain in my right leg, especially during sex. The pain was excruciating. It was so bad my husband and I would have to stop (well, I would nearly throw him off of me). I always wondered if it was the Mirena didn't have enough proof to say for sure. The dizziness I thought was my anemia coming back, but blood tests proved it was not.
So in February of 2008 I had it removed because we wanted to have another baby. I did not get pregnant until January 2009, which to me is odd considering I was told I should be able to get pregnant right away. Then 2 days ago I miscarried. I'm not saying being on the Mirena cost me my baby but I think you need to be very careful if you choose it as your birth control. If you feel like it's causing more problems than it's worth, get rid of it right away. No matter what your doctor tells you.

Hi Everyone...I've been on a bipolar cocktail for 3 years and one ingredient is LAMICTAL along with Lithium and Wellbutrin. Overall the drug has worked and I feel pretty healthy mentally. Of course I am particularly concerned about my memory loss, putting a sentence together and finding the simple words for basic objects. I really do feel dumb, especially at work, as I am in sales. Many times I stutter, fumble and go blank in front of customers. I have not told my boss or anyone else that I'm on the meds, so I know they think I'm just a dumb-ass. I'm ok with that. I also quit going to school for my master's because of the short term memory loss and general mushiness of the brain. I was once an honor student and very outgoing, now I just keep my mouth shut when I can in fear of making a fool of myself. My balance is off and as weird as it sounds I have trouble parking my car straight in a parking space. My co-workers have commented a few times that I don't know how to drive. At first I thought it was my car, the tires, alignment, etc...but when I got another one, it's still happening no matter where I park. I'm 43 and have acne and underlying bumps on my face, chin and neck. I did lose weight though! So, I can empathize with most of you. I'm not thrilled with being on these drugs for what may be forever, so I guess I need to decide whether to stay on this stuff, reduce, taper or change drugs. LOL to all.

I'm writing back to tell you ladies that I got the Mirena taken out yesterday. I can't say I feel better yet, because it's only been 15 hrs..I also got my teeth fixed right after that so I feel like crap but it is because of my mouth hurting. I did notice that my acne isn't so red and isn't sore right now. I had the worst Acne and although it's not gone I feel it looks different already. I'm mainly writing to tell you all about my experience with the doctor. I'm sooooo mad because I explained why I wanted to get it removed ( Acne, weight gain, back pain, bloating, migraines, mood swings, no sex drive..etc ) This fool told me that it has nothing to do the Mirena because the it has no Hormones and my body is reacting to my normal cycle.... I was shocked because I thought it had progesterone?of course I never had ACNE at all and that was before I started any birth control. I've only been on the NuvaRing and Mirena for the last 3 yrs. I didn't start getting Acne until 3 months after starting the Mirena and I know that's what it is from. He blamed all my other side effects on getting old..LOL I'm only 28 yrs old and never had problems like this before. I told him they need to do more Research on the Mirena before they put in women, and that fool was like....WHO? ME? I said Yes, YOU AND EVERY DOCTOR WHO THINKS THIS IS A MIRACLE BIRTH CONTROL.. He was upset but so was I. I shouldn't have had to go thru that. I'm still mad about it! It would have been better off telling him I want it out so I can have 12 more kids and then I wouldn't have heard anything from him. They are all in denial and that's scary.
I also wrote a complaint with the FDA and hopefully if everyone does the same we can get this crapp off the market. I want a refund and won't stop until I get it because it didn't last 5 yrs for me and a lot of you out there. I will be writing you all back after a couple months to tell you how I feel then.
There is all kinds of websites about Mirena, mostly bad ones. Look up " Post Mirena side effects" that was a good one to. Women were talking about what vitamins we should take afterwards so we don't have the crash the happen between day 4 thru 10 afterwards. 5htp, B6 and primrose are good for that.

I don't know what is wrong with you people but its like you can't handle anything. I had the mirena put in November last year and yeah ok i had cramping for the first month or so and yeah i had spotting. But unlike some of you fools i knew what the side effects were i read what came in the package which means i knew what to expect before i got it put in. And yeah there are loads of possible side effects but if you read everything and know what could happen you shouldn't complain if something does happen. Not everyone who has the mirena has these things and for people who are considering it i would recommend trying it and after 3 months if it doesn't feel good then get it removed. That especially goes to people that have just had a baby... i mean really in the first 3 months after having a baby who is really seriously interested in sex right away. The reason i am here was to see if there was more information about them now because UNFORTUNATELY i had to have mine removed for an operation. I had a cyst on my fallopian tube which was not mirena related. In fact almost all women get them when they are menstruating but they go away. Unfortunately with me they don't go away and this is the 2nd cyst to be removed in 3 years. I am planning on getting a second mirena inserted next week. Because frankly i find it ideal. And yeah i may have had mood swings on occasion while i had it but come on think about it what woman doesn't have mood swings. So sure you can blame everything on the Mirena but for the most part besides then for the people where the mirena got stuck or moved during the time you had it... its all in your head. And like i said before i would recommend the mirena and if after 3 or 4 months it doesn't suit you then go for something else... but don't dismiss it because some people have too much time on their hands and like to spend it whining over everything on the net. Remember with the Mirena you have a 50/50 chance of having symptoms or not. Take that risk before taking the risk of going on the pill and forgetting to take it or going on depo provera and putting on 20 pounds.

Started Tricor about 6 weeks ago. After 2 weeks I starting feeling the effects like I did after a week on Lipitor. Doc said if this happens take a pill (48 mg) every other day. Like I fool, I listened to her, and not my body. The pain in my quads, pelvis, and back are unbearable. I stopped taking this demon seed two weeks ago, and still no change. I work out 4 days a week with a personal trainer, so I know I didn't hurt myself, it can only be the Tricor. Natural childbirth is less painful than what I am feeling. Does any one know if this is fat soluble and how long it take before the effects diminish? Percacet and 800 mg ibuprofen don't even touch the pain.

I posted above, but forgot to add....I feel like I just got off a plane, and it was a 16 hour flight. My ears. I hope no one has lost their hearing on this med because if this is the case then I seriously need to go off of it. I do feel a bit confused, too. I take it for migraines but I kind of make a fool of myself at PMS time, getting all irritable and stuff, and I do feel like it is helping me control my mood better at this time. It sure helps the migraines. I have pins and needles in my hands, too. Depression, too, it was worse at first, better now.

Think long and hard BEFORE you take this medication. I was prescribed a psychotropic cocktail by an irresponsible doctor and was on 200 mg of Lamictal a day ... I am not bipolar ... was part of depression treatment. Like a fool, I continued to take it. It took away my ability to think, my motivation ... it robbed me of my life for nearly two years UNTIL I saw an article on the BBC website that literally saved my life. I am now medication free and happier than I've been in years!
There are NO long term studies out there for Lamictal yet ... you are playing with fire if you are taking it for anything other than epilepsy and even then it's sad, but has to be taken to control the seizures.

I have been on Lamictal for about five months for bipolar II. I has been increased slowly over these months and I am now up to 300 mg a day. I have a tendency to sometimes forget things but remembering numbers has never been a problem for me. In fact I can look at someone's tag number driving down the road and remember it for days. Phone numbers of people I have known for 20 years would stick and I wouldn't even have to call them on a regular basis to know the number. However, recently while trying to use my bank debit card at the store I was asked to enter my PIN number and totally could not remember. I tried it several times but it never came to me. I felt like a fool!. At this time, that was three days ago and I still cannot remember it!
This is very, very distressing to me. I feel like something has been wiped clean and that I will never get it back.
My Lamictal dose has been increased in the last couple of weeks and I thought maybe Lamictal or one of my other meds could be making this happen so I started researching and found this site where other people were complaining of memory loss while on Lamictal.
Headaches are another common side effect for me while on this med. It has really helped me emotionally and I need to know if the memory loss is just going to be a temporary thing and it will get back to normal or if I will be forgetting more and more over time. PLEASE HELP!!!

I stopped smoking the third day into the first week. I'm in week two now, and have had half a cig a couple of times...but it doesn't taste good or do a thing for me. My cravings are minimum, no mood swings...don't even want to drink! (I haven't even finished a beer since I started.)
My side effects have been slight nausea even when I eat before taking; severe joint pain; insomnia; exhaustion, intestinal distress. I'm willing to put up with this for a few more weeks, but I may do as others have suggested and cut back to one pill a day by week three.
I quit 23 years ago and then, like a fool, started smoking again. The first time I quit I used hypnotism. I paid for five sessions and only used four. Worked like a charm...but soon after, I plunged into a severe clinical depression. It wasn't until years later that I connected nicotine withdrawal to depression. So, I'll be very careful this time around...it's taking a lot of guts for me to risk going through another bout of depression.

I have come to the conclusion that our pediatricians, allergists and various other doctors, have been brainwashed by the drug reps, possibly even bribed. My friend took her son off of Singulair almost a month ago when I told her about all of this. He already suffers from a learning disability, but she feels that his ability has improved along with his disposition and complaints of various aches and pains. She took him for his usual appointment at his allergist and told him what she had done and why and he literally YELLED at her, calling her a fool and demanded that she put him back on it. She stood her ground and refused and now is under the impression that her son will be dismissed as a patient from that practice. That won't be a problem. From what I read and what I hear, a lot of doctors are dismissing the whole deal. They can't be bothered with finding out for themselves, what the truth really is. No, they might miss out on the "perks" from the drug reps, like free samples of the deadly drug, or free pens, or a chance at a vacation in the Bahamas, and the list goes on. The drug reps are a hazard. They lack education on the drugs that they are "dealing", and if they HAVE been educated and are still promoting it,
they are no better than the crack dealers in the alley.

I think all of you folks with side affects are are blaming your ills on Lipitor rather than putting the blame where it belongs: on your own mental health. I am a 65 YO male and I have been on Lipitor for more than six years now. I have no side affects, I work out four days per week with cardio and weights and feel that Lipitor should be added to the public water supply. My total cholesterol has gone from the high two hundreds to under one-forty on a single daily dose of 10mg. All of you hypochondriacs get a grip.

My 15 year old daughter was prescribed this medication for a sinus infection. By the 2nd day she had a headache and by that night she was having nightmares bad enough that she wanted me to watch her fall asleep. She is now paranoid, anxious, she has slept the entire day for the last 5 days and hasn't wanted to leave the house. I left the house and she called me on the phone very paranoid to the point she asked me not to hang up the phone and she kept asking how long until I come home. I was just a few blocks away and she kept telling me to hurry home. I put her in the car with us just to get out of the house then she said she felt sick and threw up. She hasn't held a full conversation in 5 days and says she feels like she's crazy. I called the on-call doctor's hospital and they surprised a doctor prescribed this to a teenager.

Ladies, I feel like an intruder for being the only male posting a comment on this site. But the thing is, I'm desperate. My girlfriend began taking Yasmin this beginning of this year, and i believe it's one of the main reasons I'm seriously considering ending a 3yr relationship. Since she began using Y, she's become a different person - a lot more emotionally unstable, and sorry to say quite self-absorbed. Her sex drive is almost non-existent, but that's not the hard part tho. It's the fact that when i hold her tight she often doesn't even put her arms around me, physical affection has decreased so much I often find myself thanking her when she touches me......when did it become an effort to show love?
She's become very distant on more than one level, and i swear she doesn't wanna be with me anymore but just too scared to break my heart.
I have suggested that this pill could be the cause of loss of her libido (can you imagine a guy addressing this issue with his gf), but she denied the possibility. I've done a fair amount of research and I can't believe how many women this so-called miracle drug is affecting them in these ways.
She's honestly the love of my life, the only girl I want but not the person she is now. I've never allowed myself to become dependent on a woman to make me happy, but I'm very weak for her. I've spoken to her about my feelings a number of times but things are not improving.
Any advice for a hopeless fool would be much appreciated.
Thanks for reading

Ive been on toprol 25mg for almost a year. My hair started coming out. I get sharp chest pains. I thought I was being lazy with school work and all, but I realize that it was toprol doing this to me. It was fatigue. My cardiologist took me off of it and did not replace it with anything else. This sounds odd to say the least. I thought you had to be weened off of it.

My Mother was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis 30 years ago. She has been on prednisone at low doses since then. About 3 years ago she started imagining things, and hallusinations. About 2 years ago her prednisone dose went up to 60mg a day due to a stroke of the optic eye nerve. She has since been tapering down, now at 15mg a day. But tapering down makes her arthritis more painful. She has developed diabetes, loss of sleep, loss of apetite, loss of muscle tone. When she gets bumped, it's a big opened gash, rather than just a bruise. With the higher dose she was more moody & would get angry easier. The hallucinations & paranoia continue & are making me more & more concerned. I haven't read about this in any of the stories. Has anyone else experienced this side effect? I spoke with her Rheumatologist who suggest a psychiatrist to prescribe anti-psychotic drugs. She's already on 11 pills a day, does she need another?
Please let me know if anyone has experienced this as well.
Thank you.

Hello All,
Another post from a veteran of this horrendous pill. It is now 7 months off and I am now feeling my real self. Anxiety has been the main symptom that has taken this entire time to decrease (I never suffered before taking Yasmin).
Just a warning, I have read some posts that suggest your body can 'get used to' Yasmin and as such the terrible symptoms can decrease if you give it time. THIS IS NOT TRUE. From my research and contact with many sufferers and survivours of Yasmin it has the opposite effect. I had no sympoms on Yasmin for 12 months before I was struck down in the matter of a week with severe panic attacks/anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. I lost about 7kg in 2 weeks cause I was too nauseated to eat, and felt like I had developed a mental illness.
DO NOT FOOL YOURSELVES. THE ONLY SAFE CHOICE IS TO STOP TAKING THIS PILL. The time it takes to get better tells you how long it takes for our brains to re-balance our hormone levels.
Good luck to all.

I stopped for a bit (about a month) and began to take it again about two weeks ago. I am now experiencing severe tinnitis (ringinig in the ears) and MORE weight gain. I have severe dizziness and nausea! I have been bruising easily ever since I began takig it years ago! I get pains in my legs, as well. I am stopping as of TONIGHT!!! Thank you to you all for sharing your side effects. I now understand more clearly where all of this weird stuff is coming from!! Be blessed!
