There should be warnings about this! The doctor should have told me that this could happen..it is not worth what we all have been through!! sorry just venting.

I am quitting Yaz tomorrow. All totaled, I've been on it for about 3 years (I quit a year and a half ago because I was getting terrible yeast infections and gross brown discharge every month, but then after I quit I didn't have a period for three months, and that drove me nuts, so I got back on). I've recently realized that I have EVERY symptom. I have zero sex drive (actually, less than zero--the thought of sex makes me sick to my stomach) and I used to be way more "excitable" than my boyfriends. Now my bf thinks I don't find him to be attractive, which couldn't be more false! When we do have sex, I do not get wet (ever) and do not have an orgasm about 90% of the time (I used to have multiple EVERY time). I get foot cramps every night (no joke), sometimes multiple times per night. I've gained 20 lbs since I started. I get migraines every month with my period, and sometimes as many as one per week. Though it cleared up my acne, I still get really big cystic acne around my period, so that small benefit isn't enough to outweigh all of the horrible side effects.
Like someone else said, it also has taken away my feelings. I don't feel much of anything anymore...no happiness, no sadness...nothing. I'm always exhausted, no matter how much I sleep, and even with regular exercise and an extremely healthy diet. I get sore nipples and cramps...something I never got pre-Yaz. I just can't take it anymore (literally). I'd rather be zitty than be a fat, sad lady with ZERO sex drive.

I recently delivered a healthy baby girl (Feb 9th) in which 1 week later I developed a blood clot on my brain and was hospitalized for 1 week after experiencing 4 seizures. They told me it was pregnancy related and I would be on warfarin for 6-9 months until the clot dissolved. I too am experiencing: fatigue, extreme dizziness, light headedness, I am seeing spots all of the time, I am getting leg cramps and foot cramps a lot, I feel really weak, and just plain old. I will be 37 years old this July, and I feel way too young to be feeling this way all of the time. I can not handle going to the lab 2-3 times every week for blood work, my veins are collapsing and bruising really bad. I cry every time I leave, my husband must think I'm such a loser. It has been almost 3 months now and I just got my first period since my daughter was born. I thought I was going to bleed to death. My husband had to watch me around the clock to make sure I didn't have to be rushed into emergency. This sucks....I'm trying to remain strong, and doing lots of praying these days....Thanks for letting me share my story.....

feeling some relief to have validation to why i have been feeling this way.
i thought i was going the way of father (heart attack in his 40s) due to many symptoms over the past month similar to heart issues, except the leg cramps. i thought of my mother in-law, her diabetes, poor circulation.
i knew i had just had a thorough heart evaluation with my doctor last spring and everything was fine, except my hereditary cholesterol. frustrating. he had prescribed lipitor at that time. last week while driving to my office Christmas party i thought about driving straight to emergency.
food always seemed to help, as well lots of water. I think because i had liquids when eating, dehydration is what was being addressed.
on my own, i stopped lipitor (only prescribed medication i take) four days ago. no more nausea, no more light headiness (briefly early morning yesterday), no more weakness, leg pain decreased; these were my main symptoms.
I also experienced occasional foot cramps, general aches, heaviness in my esophagus immediately upon eating (thought of my mom with her hiatal hernia) indigestion maybe.
I had one episode a month ago (about the time all this started) where out of the blue i thought my legs were going to fall from under me, they became tingly like they were going to sleep, i was light headed as if i could faint. i had just finished a relaxing picnic by a natural stream, on a beautiful sunny day.
doctors who prescribe this medication should be more aware of these side affects. seems they are either not listening to their patients, or do not have the knowledge of these side affects, and in result, should not be allowed to prescribe.
My concern now is how long the discomfort in my legs will last, though they have improved. to make sure no serious damage has occurred,
i will see my cardiologist in two weeks to have blood work.
I would suggest to anyone who has not contacted their physician since stopping the statin, to do so. print a copy of this site and bring it with you!

I am so glad I ran across this site. I had got the Mirena in April 08 and started having leg cramps and foot cramps all day, as if I had just run a marathon, but trust me I couldn't even run a block. I am so tired all the time and recently started having headaches lasting for over 3 weeks, they have caused me to be dizzy and "not focused". I actually went to a MRI clinic today for a CT scan because I was convinced I had something going on. I also had my doctor run blood work today. After reading these posts, I am thinking it could possibly be the Mirena, I hope so, at least I can have that removed.

Hello, I've never been on birth control before, but i recently had an abortion and decided I really need to get on some kind of birth control. I am 27, married, and I am a NON-SMOKER. Nuvaring seemed to be the best option for me, easiest, effective and practical. I'm only on my first ring, it comes out for the week break in few days. So far I have NOT had any irritability or headaches, or anything like that. I have gotten a little "spotting" which to me can still be linked to the abortion or even sex. What I DID notice, however, is that I had a few sharp chest pains here and there, quick and not consistent, my husband thinks that could be from stress. I also noticed what I thought to be a pulled muscle in my lower calf could be a sign of a blood clot, which totally scares me. A persistent issue I HAVE had so far, is that I have that numb "pins and needles" feeling in my limbs a bit more often than usual. I do sit odd and my limbs tend to fall asleep more than the average person, but I actually notice it happening more frequently, like my blood circulation isn't as good as it was. I have NOT had high blood pressure. I ALSO noticed I wake sometimes with severe leg pain (cramping) that reminds me of those "growing pains" one would get as a child. I haven't had those since I was a child, wondering if it could be due to the NuvaRing. If anyone has felt similar pains let me know. I am visiting the clinic tomorrow to discuss these things and to see what could be a safer method of BC 4 me!

Sept. 4, 2007 I am now 55 yrs old and have been on ADVAIR for 2 1/2 years. I recently stopped taking it because my insurance co-pay was maxed out for the year. It was going to cost me $235 for a disk and I didn't want to pay it. So it's been two weeks now. OMG, the differences I am noticing. My weight is dropping and I'm not doing anything different. I have gained about 20 pounds. Then when I started reading some of the side effects of ADVAIR on line I realized I had almost all of them. Fuzzy thinking, bloating (especiallly right after eating), disturbing dreams, hoarseness and the constant need to clear my throat, digestive problems and heartburn all the time, foot cramps, feel tired and rundown, heart palpitations out of the blue like just sitting at the computer or watching TV, weight gain.
So already no more bloating, dropped 5 pounds, sleeping without the bad dreams, more energy. I'm feeling better on a daily basis. I have an Albuterol inhaler that I have used, but just drinking enough water helps. I plan on seeing a Naturopathic doctor soon to try a natural way to deal with my asthma.

i've been on synthroid for 9 years. started at some low dose and gradually went up to112 mg. get extreme itching all day everyday if i don't take allegra for that.not a rash just itching. that doesn't bother me as much as the fatique. every joint in my body aches all the time. sure there are better days but fo rthe most part it's bad. tried physical therapy and chiripratic care but no avail. they ended my sessions. my legs get sooo weak and my feet burn lower back really aches. sometimes muscle cramps. i'm very negative towards my loving family and it hurts me to do so. can't seem to keep upbeat. soo tired all the time.
is it the syntroid? i used to be very energenic and a doer. now i have spurts of activity in the morning , but then i just can't get motivated. help me any suggestions?

My normal period arrived again , but this time about 3 days too early (30.12.06). And today it's already lasting 8 days!! And it only got a bit lighter today. I'm feeling totally drained, tired, dizzy, completely weak... I wish I finally would be as I was before this Yasmin nightmare... But it seems as if my body will need much more time as it already had to finally find its balance again...... :-(
I had a fainting spell during my gig on silvester and had foot cramps (which is not usual for me......) during standing on stage...
Anybody out there who has also such problems during their period???
Greetings
Silke

After almost two months on prednisone ( 1st 2 wks, 40 milograms/remaining 5 wks, 30 milograms per day, I have experienced hand cramps, foot cramps, leg cramps, increased appetitite, face swelling, irritability, mood swings, hyperactivity & gradual weight gain.
On the positive side, I have been able to channel the hyperactivity energy into exercising more (I walk or go to the gym mostly every day). I also have the stamina to do more housework after a 12-hr work day & taking care of the needs and activities of my 12 & 14 yr olds. And I have never been more caught up on my job. In regards to the irritability, I have never felt so good when I have had to put certain people in the place and give them a good piece of my mind. My usual nature is being too kind & holding things that bother me inside. In addition, I suspect that the medication had something to do with healing a fingernail fungus that a had. Previously, my doctor told me that for a quick fix for my nail problem, I would need to use a $300 medication! But all in all, I would still rather be off the medication and adopt all of the positive changes I mentioned above using my own merit.

I am SO relieved to hear of all of the side effects that people have mentioned here. I have only taken this stuff for a week and have had the "sticking toes", foot cramps, back cramps, and debilitating heartburn after I eat anything. Fortunately, I was given the advair temporarily for a bronchial issue, but will not be taking it any more....

I have been on Advair for 3 years or more. I started on 100/50, then went to 250/50. And after a while I had a terrible "burning" in my mouth. I had never associated it with the Advair. During a routine visit with my Pulmonary Dr. I mentioned that my mouth, throat and stomach had been burning very bad. He immediately said, "ADVAIR". I asked if he thought that Advair would do that. He replied, "I know it can". He told me to stop using it and he gave me a prescription for Nystatin. The yeast had gone through my mouth, throat and my stomach and intestines were burning too. However, after a few days I had to ask him to let me go back on the Advair because I was having a bad problem with my breathing. I am now on 100/50. I've had all the same problems that everyone else is talking about. I believe two people have mentioned the "foot cramps". Two of my toes will draw together and I have to pull them apart. I also have bad cramps in my legs. I mentioned the problems with my toes drawing together and nobody seems to believe me. I too have a problem with my weight. I keep wishing I could give up the Advair but I have COPD and use oxygen. I use Atrovent solution and Xopenex in my nebulizer in addition to the Advair. I wrote to the Company about all the "symptoms" I was having. They were very nice, listened to all my complaints and they did follow-up with a letter to my Dr. I'm sure they had heard my story before. But I wii have to say they were concerned and tried to be helpful.

I have been on Advair 500/50 for 3 years now. I have so many of the already mentioned symptoms which include a 40 lb. weight gain, the horrendous foot cramps that last about 15 minutes and can happen as often as they feel like it. I also have the heartburn, indegestion and very dry mouth. My doctor has never mentioned that my foot cramps were due to this medicine, he has tested everything to see why. I have decided no more!! I am tired of looking and feeling horrible, I feel like the goodyear blimp. Before I started taking this medicine I weighed in at 98 lbs for over 20 years Now I am at a whopping 147, can anyone tell me once you stop this medicine how fast does the weight and other symptoms go away?

Hello everyone. Firstly I have to say that I'm a hard one to deal with. I don't trust doctors for the most part, I find that they're the legal drug pushers. Out of the blue 2 years ago, I developed Asthma. Without any testing they put me on advair 125. After reading your postings..wow... I thought I was taking crazy pills until now. Lately, due to enjoying the odd cigar... I've found that I've had to increase my usage (I've since stopped the run of cigars)...and as of late I've had a funny aching pain in the center of my chest. it comes, it goes, it comes it goes... it seems like every couple of minutes, but it does eventually stop. by stop I mean it doesn't last continuously for 24 hours, but it has been happening at least every day. i've gone for stress tests, MRI's... and a host of tests, ut yet they say my heart is normal. I've also noticed that some days within 2 minutes of taking my advair it seems like my heart flip flops... again, it usually only lasts for a few minutes but it's scary as hell... the only thing is that it does help me breathe easy... I've also noticed that the past 2 years of using it... I"ve had a ton of foot cramps on the bottom ball of my foot leading into the toes... painful as hell and at 3am it'll shoot me out of bed so I can walk it off and put as much pressure on it as possible in the hopes of fixing the pain. Is this really normal...or rather are these really that normal of side effects for using Advair. If so... that's it...I'm going natural in my search for an asthma cure. What kind of crap are the drug companies trying to put into our bodies.

I now have peripheral neuropathy (numbness, aching, loss of sensation ) in my feet from 4 years of Lipitor use.
I stopped Lipitor 12 months ago and had some small improvement in my feet ie I can now bend my ankle and stand on the balls of my feet and even flex some toes instead of all the toes being stuck together. Formerly my feet did not bend at ankle nor at ball of foot.
The terrible pain felt when I bent my knees has gone and my legs are now more vertical rather than slanting in.
In the course of visits to various specialists it was discouvered thAT MY THYROID WAS UNDER ACTIVE (Hypothroidism).
(Under active thyroid might sometimes have some relation to high cholesterol )
There has been an article in the "Australian Prescriber" August 2005 noting adverse reactions to statin medication in patients with hypothroidism, dehydration, liver disfunction and decreased renal function.
Their checklist for statin-induced muscle symptoms includes:
* muscle aches,tenderness,soreness,weakness or pain
* decreased muscle strength
* difficulty in getting up from a chair
or holding arms above head
or performing usual tasks
For Australian residents there is an Adverse Medicine Events telephone line operated by pharmacists at the Mater Health Services Brisbane. Their Australian phone is 1300 134 237 (Mon -Fri 9am -6pm EST)
In my experience statins caused me general confusion, muscle weakness, difficulty in walking, needing a handrail for steps, unable to bend ankle, foot cramps etc etc.
Years ago we survived without statin drugs. What have you got to lose if you give up the statins for a 6 month personal trial???

This isn't my first entry on this website. Thankfully, about 6 months ago, I found this website and it changed my life. I was on Yasmin for about 2 years. During that period of time, I was on the brink of losing it. I had SEVERE anxiety/panic attacks (was prescribed and anti-anxiety medication), racing heart (was prescribed a beta blocker), awful foot cramps, depression, headaches, and diahreah almost daily -- to the point I could hardly eat a thing!
I went off of the pill last year, and have to tell all of you who are going through this, that I personally am fine now that I have it out of my system. I thought there was something wrong with my head, and if any of you are going through the same thing, think twice about this pill. It may not be you!!
Best of luck to all.

This website has been such a blessing to find! I took Yasmin for 2 years and thought that I was the only one with crazy symptoms that I had NEVER had before -- all of which have gone away since I stopped taking this pill a few months ago.
During the past 2 years, I have been diagnosed with IBS and Anxiety Disorder. I have also experienced migraines, nausea, terrible foot cramps, crying episodes for no reason, and tiredness. I used to be very active, going to the gym every single day. I haven't been there in ages!
Becuase of the anxiety and panic that I had, I was put on an anti-anxiety medication which I now have to work on going off of. This pill just isn't worth it, think twice before you begin. It feels like I have spent most of the past few years going to the doctor, this is not who I was before!
Good luck to all.

Was on Yasmin for about 1 1/2 years, I have suffered from leg & foot cramps, pains in chest & arms, pins and needles in arms, headaches, detoritating vision, nausea, breathlessness, tiredness and kidney infections (caused by the diuretic in it), weight gain, constipation and heavy periods, thought I was becoming serioulsy ill, felt like 70 instead of 30. The only positive thing about this pill was that I didn't get pregenant.
Am off it now about a month and all symptons are just gone.

I have been taking 20mg Zocor (simvastatin) for 14 mos post heart attack/stent placement(2) in L. ventricle. About 2 monts ago I developed severe muscle pain and weakness in right forearm/elbow, left elbow, dexterity problems in the hands from time to time. I have had for some time; a burning sensation in the right leg, foot cramps, fuzzy vision and other symptoms. I am also taking other drugs; atenolol, lisinopril, asprin and venlafaxine, so they all had their part.

I have had asthma since i was 10. I am 44 years old now. I have never in my life been on prednisone this long (since Feb 2009). It is now July 11,2009. I was admitted to the hospital for IV steriods (prednisone) because for the first time in my life the general 10 course with the pills wasn't working. so there i was on 165mg of pred every 6hrs. After eight days in the hospital i was released and was to take 40mg for five days and decrease by 5mg until done. I didn't do to well and had severe exhaustion where i couldn't even walk 2 steps the next day. so I went to my pulmonary dr. who said he noticed a severe anxiety side affect in me from the drug and said i needed to get off it as soon as possible, he had me drop my dose every day by 5mg. TO FAST! I had breathing problems again, started over going slower, got down to 10mg and had to jump to 40mg again! side effects for me are severe anxiety (which i have to take ativan for) and especially massive painful foot cramps. My hands will cramp to while trying to write, but the foot cramps and the feeling of being wired are the worst. I am still trying to wean off....sometimes i wonder if i will ever finally be off this stuff. I just want to cry sometimes. It feels like being pregnant and going thru post partum at the same time
