Had a cortizone shot in the instep of my foot, which I have had every 7 months or so and been great! This time on June 4th, 2008 had the shot again and walked out and my foot became so swollen and painful...went home and iced it but the swelling did go down some with the ice but then began again when the ice was off. In August, my foot was still somewhat swollen an painful when walking and I also have a torn meniscus in the knee of the same leg as the foot problem. Doctor gave me a shot in the knee but the foot is still swollen and painful...doctor says I have arthritis. Wonder if I need another cortizone shot in the foot?

Within a couple of days of taking this medication I experienced numbness in the top of my right foot and up the outside of my leg to med-calf. I became unable to lift my foot up or point my toes upwards. When I walked my foot dropped down and I would almost trip when I walked. The first two times it happened it went away within the day. The last time was June 6, 2006 and it has remained since then with no sign of improvement. My doc called it dropped foot syndrome which is caused by a problem with a nerve in the side of my leg. I am still on the medication and hoping the problem will go away as I adjust to the medication. The medication thus far has had no effect on my hypothroid symptoms especially the fatigue. The muscles in my legs feel weaker than ever and the foot problem makes matters worse.

BACTRIM KILLED MY HUSBAND
MY HUSBAND WAS A DIBETIC, HAD LIVE TROUBLE & TOOK BLOOD THINNERS. THEY SHOULD NEVER HAVE GIVEN IT TO HIM. IT CAUSED HIS KIDNEYS TO FAIL. HE NEVER HAD KIDNEY PROBLEMS BEFORE. IT ALSO CAUSED HIM TO JERK AND GO INTO COMA LIKE STAGES. HE WALKED INTO THE HOSPITAL WITH A SIMPLE FOOT PROBLEM, AND DIED A FEW WEEKS LATER.

I took 250 mgs for a foot problem. It was not getting well so I went to 500 mgs. My foot is better today but I haven't slept in 2 nights and my leg jerks all nite keeping my husband awake. I also had toe cramps where my toes stood up. scarey. So I have gone back to the 250mg. Only because I need to get my foot well.

51 year female, History of Hyperthyroid disease (Graves disease) treated with radiation in 1984, now have Hypothyroid taking 100MCG Synthroid. Began 20mg of Simvastatin 4 weeks ago. Developed mild rash, hives off and on but that was normal anyway so I didn't think anything of it. In the 3rd week a Co-worker noticed that I was walking a little stiff and thought my foot problem was back but I mentioned my knees felt strange. Again this is normal with the cold weather here. This week my knees and calves were swollen and I could hardly walk down the stairs. I called Urgent care and they told me to stop taking the Simvastatin. It's been two days and I feel better but I wonder if my joints will ever be the same? Will I walk normal again? What's next if I can't take statin's? Red Rice Yeast has been banned.
