Hi, I just posted something a little while ago but after reading more of people's side effects feel that I have some more in common.
I have been taking lamictal for 2 years/ 300mg a day. The reason I was unsure if my side effects were actually related to it or not was because i didn't have any and now suddenly do. I have SEVERE dry mouth constantly and it is hell. I am also waking up with night sweats to the point where I have to go to bed with ice packs. I have become oilier and hairier. I have had all my hormones tested as I first believed it was that but the results came back fine. Has anyone else experienced side effects quite a long time after starting lamictal? Thanks again

I started Levaquin 500mg on Jan 27th for a sinus infection. Two days later I woke up and almost passed out upon standing. My heart was racing and my blood pressure dropped. I had to call my husband home from work to take me to the ER. I also started to get nauseated, chills and weakness in my legs. After being hydrated at the ER I was sent home to finish my meds which was a 10 day course. My symptoms became increasingly worse over the past week. Dizzyness, weakness, fatigue, rapid heart rate with some PVC"s, no appetite, nausea, pain in my back, shoulders and left hip. I also have a red rash on my chest and face. I experienced a heavy sensation in the back of my head, compounded by a crawling sensation. My body will flush upon standing , I get night sweats and difficulty breathing. I have also suffered with some kind of wierd sensations in my eyes that has my sight screwed up in some weird way. I have also been on this side of confusion or forgetfullness and nearly having panic attacks. This is some kind of freaky horrible drug. The day I went to the ER my left leg went numb. I have one pill left and didnt take it today. The doctor I saw today says it could be the Levaquin. HA!!!! I am praying for all on here..

I am a 30 year old female and have had asthma since I was 3 years old. For years I struggled with it, having to always have an inhaler on hand everywhere I went. About 4 years ago by the prescription of my pulmonary doctor I started taking singulair and advair once a day (before bed) The one thing that I have noticed that concerns me a bit, is that when I miss even one day of the medication (due to my forgetfulness in refilling) my asthma will be worse then before I even started the medication. So it's like I'm dependently addicted to it, which is really scary. Just one day off of it and I have to use my albuterol inhaler at least 5 times a day and I can't even get out of bed sometimes.
The other thing that I noticed was my complexion changed. I have been to several dermatologists who either think I have a mild rosacea, mild acne rosacea or a mild adult acne. I have never had a problem with my skin, it was always clear. However now it is just so tempermental. I recently asked an internal medicine doctor who doesn't seem to feel that there is any link between singulair and skin problems but thought that perhaps it was the advair.
I also have experienced strange mood shifts that sort of go back to the time I started the medication. I fight a lot more with my husband and just feel very anxious, fearfull, reclusive, depressed. I feel like another poster, that everything is going to go wrong, or is always wrong. I'll have extreme anxiety about small everyday things. I am an actress living in LA. I have a commercial agent and was quite active in auditioning but this has dwindled as the years have passed.
Is all this due to the medication? I cannot say obviously, and like another poster said, you can't attribute side effects that some people have had to all the millions of people that must take this medication. And, it is true that during studies conducted of medications anything that someone experiences has to be listed as a side effect. I was taking a medication for my possible ADD symptoms, concerta, and one of the side effects is "Accidental Injury" what does that even mean! I asked my doctor about it and he told me, that if someone so much as accidentally bumped into a table or tripped during the study it would have to be listed as possibly being associated with the medication. It's a legal thing I'm sure.
But in any event who's to say that it isn't causing these symptoms. I certainly hope that it doesn't. I can only vouch for my physical symptoms for sure. I know whether or not I can breath or not and that it's due to not taking the medication since being on it is like I don't even have asthma. But as for the emotional stuff, they are just that emotional and there are many other things in peoples lives that could be contributing factors. The greatest test would be to stop taking the medication to see if the emotional symptoms improve.

Been taking Topamax 300 mg a day for the past 4 year. I also take 450 mg of Wellbutrin. This is to help with migraine. Although my total count of Zomig pills I took last year was 120 pills and some of those I broke in half so I wouldn't have to use a whole pill for a migraine. So that mean, with the Topamax and Wellbutrin combined, I still had at least 123 migraine this past year. Three months of migraines. That's insane. I can't stop the "Dopamax" because my doctor says it would be really bad with it. I have terrible memory loss, forgetfulness, and loss of words that is embarrassing. The nurses did not inform me of the side effects when I first started taking it and I thought I was going crazy. I started looking up ADHD on the computer thinking I had developed it as an adult. I was made at the nurse when she asked me how I was doing remembering things and and if I was stumbling for word......I wanted to slap her off her stool.........at that point it was NOT funny.

Hi all,
Unfortunately, I didn't read all of these comments before I started taking Topamax.
I have migraines for 25 years, and decided to try Topamax.
Week 1-25mg, Diet coke tasted strange. Tingling. Tiredness. Forgetfulness. Can't think clearly. Hard to spell. Or do any task.
Week 2-50mg...a zombie-all of the above and more. Couldn't remember how to get back to my house..and I was just 5 streets away.
I stopped taking Topamax 2 days ago.
I feel much better.
Plz beware.
Having migraines for so many years (i am 38 now) I learned how to control them and Imitrex does work for me.
If I need to choose between having migraines 3-4 times a week and the side affects of Topamax-I choose migraines.

I am a 34 year old female who was accidentally given Lipitor by my pharmacist instead of my regular Rx. I unknowingly took Lipitor for almost a month and had terrible side effects. I experienced dizziness, nausea, lower back pain, forgetfulness, clumsiness, hot flashes, and night sweats. Thought I was prematurely going through menopause. All I can say is Lipitor is a horrible drug and I have no idea what long term effects it will have on my health since I did not have high cholesterol. I stopped taking Lipitor 4 days ago when I realized I was taking the wrong drug. I'm still having some dizziness and bad lower back pain.

I have been on lamictal for about 18 months up to 300 mg. I am going through an incredibley stressful time right now. (foreclosure on the house and bankruptcy). The anxiety is off the charts the lamictal does seem to calm it sometimes. I always know when I have forgotten my pill. I have always been very forgetful and nondetail oriented. I went to the dr. initially to get help with my forgetfullness which was causing me to lose jobs. I believe the lamictal has taken the edge of extreme mood swings and allows me to slow down and say to myself things like "your thoughts are racing, you are now entering a phase of mania, go sit down, take a hot shower, chill out before you do anything you are going to regret."
I do cry a lot but, I always have and I am under incredible stress having to be the sole support of 4 kids and no real job skills.
so I don't know if I can blame the lamictal for the constant crying.
One side effect is I just don't want to be around people. I take that back, I want to desperately be around people, I am just shy of people and will avoid people. I don't go anywhere or do anything other than work. Something I never had before.
My 19 year old daughter also tried lamictal. Her back broke out in terrible acne. But she did get some relief from impulsiveness and mood craziness.
One final comment I lost my pills for a weekend and didn't want to bother my grumpy dr. for more. Nauseus, throwing up, sore muscles, high anxiety, uncontrollable off the charts crying attacks. Finally had to bother the dr on Sunday night, he was really grumpy.

I gave Yasmin two months. My endocrinologist recommended it since it usually doesn't interfere with medication. My gyni said it was the most popular birth control. I have to say I am so glad to have found this board. Certainly, every woman is different but it is great to have unbiased info out there.
The first week was great then I started having to get up to pee (that the diuretic effect). Then I felt fatigued sort of like I was getting the flu. Then came the intense hunger. Having hypothyroid, I usually have a low appetitie. I actually liked this side effect. I never ate more in my life! I didn't gain weight. I liked not being bloated but what I didn't like was the low grade headaches, spaciness/forgetfullness, acne, fatigue, low libido and then later chest pains and heart palpitations.
Now I am trying the NuvaRing. Ortho tri cyclen as well as OTC lo did not agree with me. I had mood swings, contact lense trouble and headaches. If NuvaRing doesn't work then I am getting and IUD.
Thanks ladies for your input.

Desogen is a pill that causes many unwanted side effects. I have taken i for almost one year and I am going to stop. For a long time, I thought everything was in my head, but A LOT of people i've talked to say they experienced the same things I did. The usual weight gain, nausea and breast tenderness is not a big deal. But MOOD SWINGS, LIGHTHEADEDNESS, FORGETFULLNESS. FATIGUE and DEPRESSION have all made my life hell for one year. Really consider this before you take desogen, even if your doctor tells you these things aren't likely to occur. Doctor's don't know everything about the pill.

I started taking Yasmin in July 2002. After a month I started fainting, sever stomach problems, mood swings, confusion and forgetfullness, loss of sexual desire and vaginal dryness. I first contacted my OBGYN and asked if this would be a side effect and the reponse was "absolutely not". I have gone to several specialist and had some very intensive test. I was diagnosed with IBS, in my head, stress, and maybe liver cancer. Only thing that remains a constant is they all agree my electrolytes are extremely low.
I am so happy to see others have had these problems. I am going back to my old birth control pills immediately. Thank you for helping me realize I was right all along.

I have been on the NuvaRing for a year now and this was the first month I skipped by my own fault in forgetfulness. I went on the ring to regulate my hormones and thought it was useful to have a birth control method that overcame my pill-taking forgetfulness. It has worked really well not only in the hormonal department, but with period regulation and cramps. So many have had adverse reactions with their sex drive and emotions, but I was a lucky consumer. BUT THEN I forgot to insert the ring this past month; I was traveling and one day led to the next and you know how it goes. I brushed it off as a "medication free" month and proceeded with making my plans to move from the West Coast to the East Coast.
Last week was the week before my period and I began to experience HEAVY anxiety. Though I was happy and life was great (even with the large change in my life) my body was reacting in distress. At first I dismissed it as anxiety from moving, but then when I got my period it dawned on me. Usually I would experience heavy cramps before my period but the anxiety replaced it. I didn't even know my period was coming. My regular body clues were off base and this anxiety lead to a heavy chest feeling, short breaths, dizziness, headaches, breast soreness and general feelings of depression. As a woman I can be perfectly honest and say this is entirely hormonal because
Today I went online to research and was more than happy to see that I am not alone in the symptoms this birth control has caused me. Oh my goodness, I am almost excited to get back on it after my period to see if it dramatically changes on the flip side. I cannot continue feelings like this.
