I thought that all the problems I've had the last 3 months that I've been on Yaz were unrelated....I thought between stress, IBS, my job as a teacher, and being a single mother, that all my problems are just stress. I've been on the pill for three months. I am taking the pill to help with adult acne and mood swings. I really think that it has helped both of those things. However, the last month I have noticed some symptoms and I think that maybe I can tie them all to yaz???? Here's the list:
Headaches
Weight gain
Muscle cramps
Extreme GI problems (worse than my normal IBS)
Blanking out (short time frames where I do weird things and I don't remember them). Is this a symptom? I haven't read about this one. I'm scared to death I have some mental disease or something! Anyone else have this problem? I am so scared that I've lost my mind and have gone crazy.
Night mares
Anxiety
Panic attacks (I think)
Abnormal heart beat

Dizziness, weight gain, muscle cramping, nightmares, nausea, bloating, water retention. My legs look like elephant legs they are so swollen. I have been on Advair for 3 mos and I have gained 9 lbs. I exercise 45 minutes a day and still gain weight. The blood pressure is up, the blood sugar is up, the hemoglobin is down and the GERD is not responding to the Protonix. It is exacerbating everything and I am going to request a change in meds. I am 53 and I do not want to go diabetic at this stage.

Weight gain, muscle pain/tiredness especially in the lower legs. Fatigue/lack of energy, moodiness. Also intestinal bloating/gas.

Getting adequate exercise is problematic given I can't get my heart rate into my target area, and the almost constant pain and dead feeling in my lower legs. It gets to the point that I have to stop walking and wait for the blood flow to reach my lower extremities. I am assuming this is a large contribting factor to my weight gain.

This is a total nightmare and i need advice! I was on Lamictal for a year and about six months into my health began to slowly deteriorate. It started with shortness of breath and heart palpitations and eventually attacked every system of my body. My symptoms are muscle pain, spasms and knots to the point that i can't turn my neck sometimes, joint pain (mostly knees), stabbing floating pain everywhere, headaches, frightening tingling in my extremities and a few times my entire body, sore throat, flu-like feelings, stomach cramps, bloating and heartburn. The list goes on. I have been off of it now for two weeks. My psychiatrist has never seen this type of reaction before and is not convinced it is the Lamictal. I have been to every single type of doctor and the ER twice, had extensive lab work, CT scan and two MRIs. I have been off Lamictal now for two weeks and am not feeling much relief. I am so scared and frustrated and please need advice. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it ever go away? I feel like I am literally living a nightmare with no-one to turn to for advice because no-one seems to know ANYTHING!!!!

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in April of this year (2007) kind of by accident through a routine checkup. I had gained a bit of weight over the past two years, but that was really my only symptom. I was begun on 75 mcg of a generic brand of Synthroid, levothyroxine. Since I began this medication, I have rapidly gained another 15 pounds despite a 1,000 calorie per day diet. I retain fluid horribly. My ankles, wrists, hands and face swell daily. My muscles ache, especially my legs, upon walking across a room. I'm fatigued, short of breath. My LDL cholesterol level has skyrocketed in only three months and now I'm being told I need to be on a statin drug. I cry frequently and feel uncharacteristically anxious and irritable, but this could be due to the frustration I am experiencing with the loss of my sense of well-being. In essence, I felt much better before being placed on the medication. I may, in fact, discontinue the medication totally and see if over time I begin to feel better. Like so many other stories I'm hearing, my doctor seems totally unconcerned.

I am on 200mg of Zoloft. I started it last January, and have slowly increased my dosage to find the correct dosage. I am starting to feel anxiety again, and feel as though your body gets used to the meds, and you continually need a higher dosage. I am jittery, have insomnia, have very vivid dreams, tremors, my eyes tremor when I try to close them and I see flashes of light, when I nod my head down towards my chest it tremors, i am restless, it has made my add worse, it causes slight weight gain, muscle twitching...it worked fine, but the higher the dose, the worse the side effects, and here I am with anxiety again. I suppose I need to switch my meds - maybe try lexapro. But definitely get a new psychiatrist.

This is pathetic. Yes advair has helped with my life-long asthma but since I started on Advair two years ago I have suffered high Blood Pressure, 20lb weight gain, muscle join pain in my legs, fatigue from hell, and terrible anxiety. I'm getting off this nighmare drug.

I have not read these page until this morning. I was looking specifically for advair/singular combination side effects. I became somewhat suspicious of the possible side effects of these medicines some time ago. After reading these postings, I now think I know where the conditions I have experienced come from. I would advise everyone, especially those who have life-threatening asthma or restrictive breathing disease, to see their physicians before stopping medications. As for me, I have weaned myself off of all advair/singular/broncho meds and it has made all the difference. I keep my emergency inhaler with me at all times as I live in the country with outdoor work, dogs, cats and other critters, but to me, the side effects I experience for my particular condition (not as serious as others have) were not worth the dangers (high BP, weight gain, muscle join pain, breathlessness, irritability. And to Trie, your posting could have been mine. I am now taking massive doses of CS (common sense) and E (exercise) and lots and lots of H2O. Good luck to all of you.

been on toprol xl for about 1 1/2 years, started having problems urinating. (had to go bad but would only come out slowly) I weened myself off the toprol and now have no problems urinating (after 2 days). also had some weight gain, muscle cramps, short term memory loss, dificulty focusing. As far as I am concerned they can keep the med.

I'm a 54 year old woman and have been on 50 mg Toprol for 1 year. It's done great things to drop my blood pressure down to normal range. But I've experienced weight gain, muscle aches, aching feet, tiredness, lack of clarity when thinking, hot flashes, occasional nausea and occasional dizziness/light-headedness. I'm also on a mild dose of xanax which helps with nervousness which I guess is also associated with Toprol. My sex drive still remains strong though.

My 48-year-old husband began using Advair December 2003 and was amazed at how it helped his asthma. But then he started having other problems: high blood pressure, weight gain, muscle aches and weakness (he struggled getting up after just sitting down), and the blisters/bleeding/inflamed gums throughout his mouth. After a couple of months, I found this site and he discontinued using Advair. His blood pressure went back to normal in three days, the muscle aches disappeared, but we are still fighting with his mouth problems. He has been to the dentist; who referred him to a specialist. The specialist has given him numerous mouth washes, and two prescriptions. Nothing is working. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

weight gain, muscle cramps in legs and hands, large, colorless
welts on face with slight indentation in center. My dermatologist says that they will disappear when I am off the drug - have been on for about a year and a half for polymyalgia rheumatica - pain relief is worth the symptoms, but the facial welts concern me. I am only on 4 mg a day now and will hopefully be able to reduce by 1 mg a month until I'm off....last time when I got down to 3 mg my pmr symptoms returned- I have also developed small cataracts although I'm not certain they were caused by prednisone.
