I just finished the five day Z-Pak treatment. I did experience diarrhea and mild abdominal discomfort, and both of which have seemed to subside. I have also been experiencing bad gas and bloating. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms? And, if so, how long did it take for the symptoms to go away?

My husband and I were both prescribed Lantus in December 08 and since then we have both experienced weight gain; back pain; gas and bloating.
My physician is now consulting to determine another medication as the weight gain (from an increase in our appetites since taking Lantus) is making us both very uncomfortable. I have also noted a shortness of breath, and because of all of these side symptoms a little depression.
The Lantus is not controlling our blood sugars and they have become at times out of control even though an increase in dosage has been prescribed.
As with Byetta, we find this medication to be very irritating by causing stomach cramps and HUNGER.

I am about 8 weeks pregnant and was prescribed Zofran by my ob/gyn for severe nausea. I bragged on the drug after the 1st dose because I felt wonderful. I was prescribed every 8 hours as needed. The first pill I took on a Tuesday night, the second on Thursday night when I developed severe motion sickness, the third on Friday (by then I could not stand to move around). By Monday of the next week I felt as if I was going to explode. I was extremely miserable. I realized that I felt worse after the Zofran because of severe constipation. I felt as if everything I had eaten for the last week was just sitting in my stomach. I had nausea, dizziness, headaches, indigestion w/reflux, excessive gas and bloating, and a horrible taste in my mouth. I stopped taking the Zofran and used an enema and prune juice to clear my system. Some how, compare to how the Zofran made me feel the nausea doesn't seem so bad!

I have been on Levoxyl for only 12 days after switching from generic Levothyroxine, which I was on for 3 years.. I have no history of any GI disturbances and the last 5 days I have been extremely constipated, had horrible stomach cramps, gas and bloating. I am on no other meds, so my Doc and I have concluded maybe Lexovyl is not the right med for me?. Am starting name brand Synthroid tomorrow. In addition to the GI disturbances I have been having headaches the past week as well.

I started Yasmin about 5 months ago and thought I had no side effects. Did not gain a single pound and didnt really think my mood changed. The only weird side effect i did have is gas and bloating. Now at first I didnt think it was due to Yasmin so I went through an array of tests for gastro-intestinal problems and finally made the connection because I took yasmin at night and only had those problems at night. Never ever during the day. Oh yeah and the migraines. I would get them for about 5 days straight. It was really annoying to have to deal with. Now I will definitely switch to Alesse although I am questioning that alternative as it may be just better for me to not be on any birth control. And I do want to say that not everyone will have these random side effects. A few of my friends are using Yasmin and are absolutely satisfied. (their side effects: no weight gain and breast enlargement...what more could you want!! :) )

I took Lipitor for 4 or 5 years. I lost count. I am a type II diabetic and the Dr. threw tons of prescriptions at me. I was convinced all my problems were not the result of Lipitor because my sister's Dr. told her that if you had the muscle pain you would have it all over. Well I got sick of feeling like I was 85 years old. I am 57. I know I am not young anymore, but I couldn't sit for more than a few minutes without having trouble getting up. The right top of my leg hurt so bad some times that I could hardly walk . I also had really bad pain on the right side of my lower leg. I had pains in my neck and shoulders and attributed it to stress at work.Last, but not least I had terrible gas and bloating. The gas was downright embarrasing. Well I took it upon myself to stop taking it. Within several days I felt like a new woman! The minute I woke up one morning I could feel the difference before I even got out of bed. I felt like I had been given my life back.
When I called my Dr. to let her know she wasn't very happy and wanted me to come in. Well now she put me on Crestor and it's been two weeks and the old pains and gas are coming back. I am NOT going to take these terrible statins anymore. They say that the muscle and joint aches are rare, but that is only because most doctors won't listen to their patients. You know your own body better than anyone else.
I have heard that some of the "older" statins are not as powerful and they don't have as many side effects. Has anyone else heard this or had any experience using them?
All I know is that for now I am off statins.

I have been using MiraLax for 3 months now. It has helped me tremendiously with my constipation however I have had horriable gas
and bloating I have gained 10 pounds. I am a regular exerciser and weight liftter (toning mostly) . I could not figure how I gained the extra weight. I hav'nt done or taken anything different except taking the MiraLax. I was told it did not make you gain weight or give you gas. Maybe all the studies are not out yet. I don't know but I need to get this weight off fast. Could it be water weight?? from miralax? Please if anyone who has used Miralax or a doctor who has had this problem help. I hate to quit taking Miralax because it really helps me. It has been the best thing I have used in years. I would love anyone to comment or offer advice.

I have been on Doivan for a little over 2 weeks now. Sudden drops in BP, fever, sore throat, gas and bloating increased heart rate, back pain....severe muscle spasms in my feet and legs. I even went to the emergengy room thinking I was having a heart attack because of the back pain and excessive gas which caused me to feel like I had a boa constrictor wrapped around my mid section. This is a nasty little drug which I will discontinue tomorrow....back to my cozar which had few side effects, but does not control my BP completely, but this medication made me feel like I was dying!! Anyone else experience these symptoms??

I have been taking Omeprazole for only a coupe weeks, I just now figued out that it is causing me a lot of problems. My insurance also forced me to change. I was taking Previcid and doing well, but now they won't pay for it. I am suddenly having my fingers go numb, cramping excess gas and bloating, pain in my right side, most of my body is cover in a rash that itches, constant headaches, some dizziness. I went to the Dr. today and recieved a Predizone shot and prescription that was helping until I took another Omeprazole tonight. Thats how I know it is doing this to me. People need to be forwarned about this medicine.

I HAVE TAKEN OMEPRAZOLE TO COUNTER THE REFLUX
ISSUES FROM MY ARTHRITIS MEDS. I HAVE GAS AND BLOATING, CRAVING FOR CARBS AND TERRIBLE RINGING IN MY EARS. I EVEN HAD MY HEARING TESTED AND THEY
CLAIM THAT THE MEDS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. HOWEVER, I NEVER HAD RINGING IN MY EARS PRIOR TO TAKING OMEPRAZOLE.

In response to those of you suffering from severe gas and bloating.... I also experienced both of these along with anxiety, rapid heart beat, sleeplessness, depression, and overall lethargy. I have been on Yasmin for over a year and just started having these side effects so it is not always immediate. I stopped two weeks ago and the gas and bloating was awful for a week and now has seemed to be getting better. The anxiety and mood swings are still present but the fogginess and sluggishness have gone away almost completely. In addition, I started getting a strange heat rash all over my torso and legs about a year ago and this has gone away after stopping Yasmin. Who knows what else this drug is doing to our bodies. On a positive note, the side effects seem to be going away so if you are in doubt about taking this pill, stop now while your symptoms are reversable! Thanks for all of your input!

I have been on Advair since it first came out and am so glad I found this site!! I have so many of the symptoms listed here. I thought I was falling apart. At first, I felt so much better taking Advair than Pulmacort. Then, I started getting terrible stomach pain, diarhea, constipation, gas and bloating. I have awful abdominal and breast swelling, breast itching, and menstrual cramps. I have fibromyalgia, but wonder if the Advair has not made things worse. My left hip and leg absolutely kill most of the time. Funny thing is my sister had all the same symptoms after starting on Advair. I do believe that the manufacturer must be aware of these side effects and fear that, like Vioxx, it'll go unchallenged. I am contacting my doctor to get off this medication. I look back over the last 3-4 years of such a decline in my health status and wonder if this all leads back to Advair.

I am so glad I found this site. I thought I was going crazy! I've been taking Advair off and on for two years, and prior to that, have taken Flovent and Serevent for three or four years. Every time I report side effects to my allergist, he is surprised and tells me that he doesn't hear about any negative effects from others, implying that I am the only one. I have reported extreme weight gain to him (40 pounds). The weight gain started with Flovent use, but it has ballooned out of control, and that's with diet restrictions and healthy eating over the years. In addition, there are the following symptoms: dental pain (increase in cavities as well), mushy gums and sensitivity; shortness of breath and a heavy, tight feeling in my lungs; severe joint pain and swelling in calves, arms, especially at the knees and arms; stiffness (after a half hour of driving, can hardly get out of the car); extreme incontinence; extreme gas and bloating; abdominal swelling (very pronounced); changes in the skin (many small blood blisters all over plus brown splotches on the face); hair growth on the face; increase in perspiration; dry eyes; itchy scalp and skin (crawling sensation); constant foot pain and athlete's foot ( I never had that before!); depression and extreme fatigue; muddy thinking and memory loss (short and long term); mood swings; cessation of menstrual cycle. I am not one to complain, so I keep quiet about it, but now, it's out of hand. I stopped for awhile, knowing that it had to be the medication, but then my doctor noticed decreased lung function, and urged me to go back on it. I tried Singulair, with combivent, with mixed results, but not as effective in stopping the wheezing as Advair. I would like to try Pullmacort, if it will make a difference. I can't stand all the side effects.

It's amazing to read everyone's posts. Thanks for sharing. I don't feel so crazy or that there's just something seriously wrong with my stomach. I've been on Yasmin for a year now and while I haven't had serious mood swings which is good, sometimes the gas and bloating has been so bad it looks like i'm 4 mos pregnant! I have an appointment with a gastro. doc tomorrow because in addition to the gas, I've had horrible stomach pains that have kept me home from work and made me sure a couple times that I had apendicitis. I didn't believe my b-friend when he said it might be the pill, but I'll talk to the doc about it tomorrow.
I'm confused because the nurse practitioner who put me on Yasmin did so because of the low dose hormones and my history of depression. I haven't been too depressed or anxious (which is great!), but my boyfriend has because I have virtually no libido! I also thought that was me. I do love not using condoms though, and wonder if anyone has any ideas about other low dose pills?

My daughter is taking Yasmin and has been for about a year. She has cysts on her ovary and they thought the Ortho-tri-Cylcine wasn't strong enough. She has been extremely irritable since the first month on this pill. She was diagnosed with IBS and has had a terrible time with gas and bloating. She is up at night throwing up and has nausea all of the time. Her PMS is worse then before. Recently she started having breakthrough bleeding and complains of leg cramping and headaches. I thought all of this was just the IBS and her adjustment to college. After reading everything here I am making her go off of this pill immediately.

I switch to Tri Sprintec about two months ago because Ortho Tri- was costing me $35/month and the new generic pill would only be $12/month. I was waiting for a generic form of Ortho Tri-Lo for a very long time (I have been on Ortho-Tri-lo for 19 years without any problems). Well I was so excited and started the generic form right away. Since then I have had HORRIBLE bloating about mid-cycle that lasts about a week. I get so bloated that it hurts to sit and I can't close my pants. I also have been experiencing very bad gas and cramps too. I even went to see a gastro-enterologist because I thought maybe I had a problem with my digestive system. On top of the gas and bloating and cramping I get one hell of a headache that lasts for about four days right during my period! And yes, i have gained about 8 pounds and I just thought it was because I have been depressed and eating more. I bet all this is contributed to the Tri-Sprintec. Well I went to get my Tri-Sprintec refilled and I was informed that it has been taken off the marked and was given my trusty Ortho-Tri-Lo back (yippy!!). I don't know why it was taken off but I am happy that I don't have to take it anymore. I will gladly pay $35 a month to feel normal again. I hope all these symptoms go away and if they do then I KNOW they were caused by the Tri-Sprintec. Anyone know why they took it off the market?
