My experience with NuvaRing

I started NuvaRing when I was 40 years old and got married not to long ago. I have two kids and they are in there late teens. My new husband does not want to have any kids, so I've been on NuvaRing for two years because I was always really bad about remembering to take the pill so the NuvaRing is GREAT for me and I love it!!! It's very convenient, being able to just forget about birth control for a month. But for some reason I think that I got a hold of a bad batch and I am having problem with them. If you have experienced the following symptoms, please consult with your doctor:
Depression: because I thought that I was pregnant, so I hit an extreme low.
The first time I used the ring I had itching, discharge, burning and yeast infection.
Headaches, Mood swings, bloating, gas, cramps, emotional, pelvis pain, hair loss, my vision has change, constant fatigue and lack of motivation and I have gained about 20 pounds. I get headaches all the time. I'm CONSTANTLY tired, but I do have to get up to go to work. My experience the first time using the ring was an infections and burning and it went away after the second time I used it. I didn’t know the ring was the cause of the infections it until now. After two years I have been passing blood clots and bleeding know for three weeks, I even thought that I was pregnent and I lost the baby and for three days and I was very diprest, afraid that I really miscarried a baby and on Friday I took a pregnancy test and it came negative. I made an appointment with my OB/GYM doctor and he also did a pregnancy test and it came negative and we didn’t know the reason why I was bleeding for so long and he also gave me medicine to stop the bleeding and also gave me iron pill for my anemic, since I lost so much blood. He told me he would do some test and find out why I am bleeding so much, so he did other test and schedule a Tran’s vaginal ultra sound sonogram test. The doctor found out that I have 3 fibroids in the uterus and the doctor suggested having D/C uterine scraping, so that I don’t get any cancer in my uterus. I talk with my husband and also decided to do a hysterectomy. Surgery went well, I am still here. I schedule the surgery on a Friday and back to work on Monday. Now I am concentrating on getting better and try to loose the weight. NOTE: I have read that soo many of you have problems in the libido or sex drive. I never had a problem in that department. I meet a great man and we both love having sex, before I started the NuvaRing and during using the ring and after the operation have not lost the edge of having sex two to three times a day. I think many of just don’t find the time, too busy with work or busy with the kids, lost that loving feeling. I am too in love and love doing it.

I ,too, have been taken Lisinopril(25mg) with Atenolol once a day for the past 11/2 years. I don't know if anyone has had a problem with hair loss, and would like to hear from someone who has had the same problem.

I had my First dose last night all 6 tablets at once as per doctors instructions, i was not able to sleep all night i had non stop heartburn, constipation and weired eye twitching once in a while, i called my doctor this morning and his answer was its normal just take second dose today and will see so i did took 2 this morning and it star to bother me, short breath , non stop pickups with severe heart burn. i still took another pill after lunch and same symptoms occurred again so i called doctor again and he asked me to stop for today and start taking it again from tomorrow.

I think i will not take this medicine ever again specially reading the comments from everyone here ... thanks for the feed back ....

59 year old female, overweight.

My nightmare with 40 mg. Lisinopril started 3 months ago with the dry, hacking cough which got bad enough for me to gag & left me short of breath. I stopped this med completely after reading the horror stories here. Had little effect in lowering blood pressure.

I felt achy all over - thought I had the flu or a nagging cold which wouldn't let go, yet no temperature or other symptoms. Been coughing for 3 months. Some numbness in left hand fingers. Very tired all the time with no desire to do anything.

Depression got much worse, I felt like I was dying or had cancer and just felt like I wanted to end it all to get relief.

Had moving chest pains and some pain in left arm. Bad stomach/intestinal pains with bloating, gas & cramps. Some dizziness & light-headed feelings.

Reading the posts on this forum has been a Godsend; I wish I had found it sooner. My mom just got a prescription for Lisinopril; I told her to not take it - it's poison. Referred her to this page. When I read the same symptoms over & over on these pages, this is a red flag. Only wish the doctors would take heed of this - in fact I plan to tell my doctor tomorrow to come here & read these postings - they are an eye opener and could well save others from the horror of Lisinopril.

I'm planning on weaning myself off all prescription meds and start an herbal/alternative lifestyle. I stopped this stuff cold turkey when I read all the posts here & am feeling somewhat better altho I still have the nagging cough. Truth to tell I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I have been taking Lipex (Simvastatin) for 6 months. During this time I have been experiencing an enormous amount of gas, cramps, constipation, headaches, blurred vision and an itching rash. Three weeks ago after looking up the side effects on the internet and finding these symptoms listed - I stopped taking the pill. My health has improved dramatically.

I stopped taking Yasmin over two months ago for many reasons. I had been taking it for two years without any problems and then suddenly I started having awful indigestion, gas, cramps, rapid heart beat, anxiety attacks, and insomnia. These symptoms came out of the blue. My OBGYN told me to stop immediately and she also said a handful of her patients had complained of similar symptoms while on Yasmin. We are not alone!! It's been two months and I am feeling better, but still haven't had a sign of a period. Has anyone else had this problem? It's been 2.5 months and am wondering if this is normal after stopping BC or if I should see a doctor about it. Any thoughts? Thanks and good luck to you all.

I was using Rabeprazole, which worked fine for Gerd symptoms.
VA doctor switched to Omeprazole. NOT GOOD. More gas, cramps, gas pains, stomach problems all day. Wakes me at night. I quit for a week, things improved. Started meds again: problems got worse. Great stuff, this!

I am so thankful to all of you who have posted your experiences on this website. I thoght I was going crazy!!! It seemed as if my health took a sudden turn for the worse for no apparent reason. Although I told them that I was taking it, none of the doctors that I have been to have even suggested that Yasmin could be to blame. I have had chest pains and heart palpatations so bad that I had to see a cardiologist and get a stress test. I have been to an eye doctor because I temporarily lost a spot of vision in one of my eyes (floaters). I have also had migraine headaches with no prior history and blurred vision. The worst thing by far has been the anxiety attacks, nervousness, and difficulty concentrating. I am now having gall bladder symptoms ( gas, cramps in upper right side, light colored stool, etc.). This has all happened in the course of two months, the amount of time I have been taking Yasmin. I am not starting my third pack and I am afraid to try birth control pills again.
