It seemed to calm the coughing and thin the mucous, but I actually had a better experience with the nock off from Walgreens, that also had a decongestant for the sinuses. I never had trouble holding my urine, but on Mucinex I would drip when I coughed. I am also constantly burping and have pain in my upper stomach, bad gas. I haven't taken it for at least 24 hours now but still have the burping and gas pains. Mucinex was the only thing I was taking other than a few aspirin.

I just started Yasmin nearly a week ago and I've already gained about 5lbs. Restless and night. I wanted to go for my morning walk this morning but turned around and came home before I reached the end of the block. I am grateful I decided to look up the side effects of the BCP. But now that I want to stop taking the pill I need to know how- can I just stop today and get something else? Will I be able to just lose the weight once I stop? Also, yesterday I started having horrible stomach pains which I thought were gas pains- from my ribs and spread all over. Was this from Yasmin too?

I had mine Mirena put in Nov. 2007. Pain and spotting for 6 weeks and because I was nursing - nothing until I stopped in Aug. 2008. Started spotting every other week for a few days, then in Dec and Jan had 2 heavier regular periods. Went in for yearly and it was painful as he moved it around to check it and then ever since I have spotted and had horrible back pain, bloating, gas pains. I realize after reading on here that I also have the mood swings - I am so mean and make all kinds of accusations against my husband. I also realize that this bloated tummy that I blamed 3 kids and separated abs is really from this iud. I never had this problem of bloating with my first 2 because I had not gone the Mirena route. Also, have dizziness that comes and goes. My question is has anyone else had the symptoms come on after an annual? Had gas, gas pains and back pains that have lasted 4 weeks and actually go away or do I have to take this thing out to get relief?

Severe pain in my lower abdomen. So severe I could not stand straight to walk. Went off the medication for two weeks. Decided to try again because I thought it could have been the flu. The same pain came back in my lower abdomen. I started vomiting and had to go to bed. I went to the doctor and had ex-rays of the area. It has been months and the pain is still so severe that I have a hard time eating or using the bathroom. It's kind of like a cramping pain that makes me want to bring my knees up to my chest to stop the pain. It is a constant pain and never goes away. I am always sick since I took that Plavix.

Has anyone experienced pain in the abdomen on the right side? Seems to have started when I started this birth control...sometimes it's under my last rib, and then there are days it hurts all the way down to my hip.

I have been taking these pills on and off for about 6 months now...I just recently started taking them every morning while I have my breakfast and I have experienced severe nausea-one minute i'm ok and then the next i feel like i need to trow up right away...and then after it subsides, i get some gas pains and then i burp and i am ok...the thing is that if i take it during my dinner like i used to when i started, i don't experience these side effects...Can some please tell me why this is so? Thank you for allowing me to post this!!!

hello ladies im a 34 y/o mother of 2 a 14y/o and ten month old i had the mirena inserted in late nov and did not realize i was having any problems till bout a month ago. in the time since i had it inserted i gained twenty pounds i have had no energy i wanted to eat all day i had horrible gas pains i was bloated and felt like a 98y/o woman with osteoporosis. my bones and joints ached so bad i had kidney pains mood swings hair loss no sex drive and had no idea where this was coming from. i owe it to my daughter for seeing a commercial on t.v saying that mirena makes u gain weight i had it removed today when i went in to my dr. office and explained my symptoms he said "IT WAS HIGHLY UNLIKELY" that they were cause by the mirena. it was weird because it seem like he really didn't want to remove it and my other dr. pressured me into getting it. just be aware i DO NOT recommend it. at times i felt like i was going crazy the depression was severe and no sex drive. once again i DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. i will come back to this site and give an update as to how things are improving. best of luck and god bless. I had MIRENA inserted after my son was born almost two years ago. I was so excited to not have to deal with taking a pill or having to worry about anything at all. Well, after a year, finally my period got under control and i only have gross looking spotting for a few days every month. But, I think that it is causing some serious problems. My fiance and I had sex yesterday and the pain that came to me afterwards was absolutely unbearable. I was curled up in a ball screaming and we considered taking me to the hospital...my problem is I no longer have health insurance. The pain I felt was like a terrible gas pain and felt like there was a knife that was tearing into my cervix. I can't seem to lose any weight, and I feel like shit EVERY day. Has anyone had that knife stabbing pain I am talking about? I just want to make sure I'm not the only one. We are paying out of pocket to have this removed as soon as possible.

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all your comments and concerns. I'm writing to update you. On Jan. 24 I had my Mirena removed. My Ob/gyn removed it with laparoscopic surgery. It went well. I still need to investigate about getting this paid for. We did talk to a lawyer because this should not be going on.
I am sore from the surgery but the bleeding has already stopped. The gas pains were horrendous. They inflate your stomach to do the surgery. The gas travels up to your neck, which no one tells you about, so you feel like you have major whiplash.
I totally feel the difference though. No more headaches, mood swings are calming down, still losing some hair, and I'm hoping once the cuts heal I shouldn't feel bloated or any more gas pains. I'll let you know. I will NEVER recommend this.
Oh, yeah, my ob said it was right outside my uterus just sitting there in my abdomen, "Wonderful!!!!" No more, Thank God!

After reading your stories, I am terrified that I even let my doctor talk me into getting this. I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old. My husband and I weren't sure if we wanted more kids so I asked my doctor what she recommended.
We decided on Mirena so I had it put in back in December. It is now Jan.19. On Wednesday I went for my 5 week checkup to make sure it was still where it was suppose to be. Well, they couldn't find it. This was in the morning...I needed to get an ultrasound. They still couldn't find it so they did an internal ultrasound...still nothing. So my doctor ordered an x-ray.
Mind you I had my kids with me because I thought it would be quick. So they were both hunger at this point. By this point it was almost dinner time.
They finally found it back on the right side of my abdomen. NOT IN MY UTERUS!! I couldn't believe it. I now need surgery to remove it.
They will be doing a laparoscopic surgery...my doctor has never done this before. Do I let her or do I get someone else to do it? She said she has never perforated anyone's uterus before and that she would not charge me for the surgery but I would need to pay for the hospital stay. Is this right?
I don't think I should be paying for any of this.
Besides the fact that I've also been experiencing lots of cramping and pain. I 've gained 6-7 lbs., have muscle aches, crabbiness, headaches, dizziness, bloated all the time, bad gas pains in my stomach,...tired.
Was it worth it...NO!!!
I can't wait to get it out. My husband and I will stick with condoms for now until we want a more permanent solution. My husband said he would get the vasectomy at that point. I've gone through enough.
I am sure this is not a good form of bc. I'm sorry women have had to go through the same experience but hopefully more women will realize how bad it is and not get one.

I have been on Nuva Ring for about 7 months now and at first I loved it. It was great not having to worry about taking the pill everyday and with 2 small children who has time to think much less take pills. I started having problems about 3 months after taking it...bloating so bad I looked 4/5 months pregnant, gas pains that would wake me up at night, heartburn/acid reflux. I have been through numerous tests to try and find out what is causing my stomach pains (ct scans, ultra sounds, blood work) now the Dr. wants to put me on Paxil after putting me on Prilosec and Gas Relief Chewables. Nothing is working, I can't stop the bloating for nothing...its interfering with my everyday activities. Not only is my stomach an issue but my moodiness is TERRIBLE. I hate EVERYTHING, I dont want to be bothered...leave me alone is my new attitude. I have always been a moody person but this is severe. Everyone around me says I need to be on "be nice pills" and that makes me even angrier when I hear that. I cry/laugh/get mad feel like Im screaming inside...I am still taking this stupid thing listening to the Dr. saying the Nuva Ring doesn't cause these side effects, but after reading all this I think I'm going to take it out for a couple of months to see if anything changes.

Hi all...WOW, hard to believe that so many of us are experiencing similar side effects.

I started taking Yasmin almost 2 1/2 weeks ago. Two days after I started taking it, I noticed I was starting to get nauseous, brief sharp shooting pains in my abdomen just under my left rib and sometimes a wee bit of a burning sensation in the same area. These sharp but brief pains occur anywhere from 4 times to maybe 15 or 20 times in a day and I almost NEVER when I am just sitting still or laying down. These pains are almost always in the same spot so I find it hard to believe it could be from gas although I AM much gassier. Wouldn't gas pains travel? I find I am burping alot and just generally gassy feeling. The other thing I noticed is that I dropped 8 pounds in the first 5 days of taking Yasmin. WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON?

I pretty much have to continue taking BC because my doctor put me on them to see if they would stop my epileptic seizures which occur only when I ovulate. We are testing to see if stopping ovulation will stop the seizures. They think it is all related to peri-menopause. I'm 48. Sheeesh. Does anyone else have these sharp intermittent shooting pains under their ribs???? This is scaring me.

Hi ladies,
I just wanted to put my side effects out there. I was on Triphasil for 6 years and switched to Yazmine just because I wanted something new, well I'm going back to Triphasil. I've been taking Yazmine for 2 months now and I've had enough. The gas, bloating, and cramping before, during, and after my period are nothing like they used to be. I have cramps no where near time to start and that's not normal. The gas is terrible. I normally only got bloated right before time to start and now it's 24/7 30 days out of the month. The gas pains are terrible and I already have I.B.S with constipation. I had my IBS under control and now I am back constipated. Yazmine has taken it's toll and I'm through with it.

Coincidence....I think not. A 15 day dose of Levaquin was prescribed for a recurrent sinus infection despite the documented effectiveness of Augmentin in past occurences. Within the first eight days there was no change in my inability to breath through my nasal passage. In addition to the Levaquin I took Benadryl Maximum Strength Allergy and Sinus in order to breathe with less difficulty. During the fifteen day treatment, I experienced, insomina and short term memory lapses, stiffness in both knees, diarrhea, extreme gas pains, and constipation. I actually think my rectal muscles were affected. After two days of incessant diarrheal woes, my body constantly felt as though excretion was necessary. Mucuous began to fill my tear ducts and affected my vision. My primary physician of ten years directed me to visit the emergency room....wow, now there's a thought....go to primary...go to emergency room....follow up with primary...Needless to say, my HMO may have saved me over $200, but it actually cost me four days away from the office and a weekend in bed.

I've been taking Wellbutrin SR in increasing doses for the past three months for depression. At 100 mg twice daily, I had headaches and stomach aches for the first few days. I was bumped up to 150 mg twice daily and the headaches and cramps returned briefly. I'm now taking 200 mg twice daily. I've been having palpitations nightly since increasing to 400 mg dose -- especially when I lie down in bed. I'm also having twitching, occasional tremors, gas pains amd heart burn. These are not symptoms I experienced before I started taking the medication. On the flip side, this medication has worked remarkable well on my depression, My feelings of doom, hopelessness and general disinterest in life have faded with every increase in dosage.

I was using Rabeprazole, which worked fine for Gerd symptoms.
VA doctor switched to Omeprazole. NOT GOOD. More gas, cramps, gas pains, stomach problems all day. Wakes me at night. I quit for a week, things improved. Started meds again: problems got worse. Great stuff, this!

I've only been on it for a week, but immediately started having pains in my chest that felt like gas pains--they kind of come and go. I quit taking it.
