I have been taking the generic equivalent of Wellbutrin for nearly a year. A few months ago I noticed my hair is thinning on top, in front. It has steadily become worse. I finally did a search on Wellbutrin, hair loss and found this site. I will start weaning myself off it now! Losing my hair will make me more depressed than I was to begin with. Can anyone tell me, does the hair grow back? How long does it take?

I'm SOOO glad I stumbled upon this site. I am 32 and have never taken birth control. I talked to my gyno about getting on the pill and she recommended Loestrin. I started Loestrin the first day of my period. Typically they are 3-4 days max. I usually have really bad cramps the 1st day, sometimes the 2nd, but no pain after that.

I honestly thought I was going crazy bc the 3rd day I was on the pill, I woke up so extremely irritated that I got in a fight with my b-friend, yelled at the jewelry woman at Nordstrom, was yelling at people while driving, and basically acting like a crazy person. I am a high stress person, but never ever like this. I never behave this way, especially to sales associates. It was rather embarrassing, but I couldn't control it. I continued to feel this way for 2 days and now it has become slightly less. I am anxious and irritable and more sensitive (not usually very sensitive at all). I've had continuous bleeding (it's now been 7 days of tampons) and horrible cramping all the way down to my legs. It's really painful and uncomfortable. I thought something was wrong with me - thought about going to the emergency room last night it was so bad.

I will admit that I do love to eat, but I find myself constantly hungry. I eat and eat and eat and can't stop. My stomach is completely bloated. I haven't weighed myself, but feel disgusting.

I called my doctor this morning bc I'm so freaked out, but am waiting for a call back. Luckily I read these postings to find that I am not sick or crazy...it must be the pills.

Does anyone know what happens if you stop taking them suddenly after 1 week? How long does it take the body to get back to normal? Also, does anyone know if the bleeding stops immediately - my boyfriend is taking me on a trip this weekend and I'd really like to be "normal."

This is my experience. I started using Loestrin 24 fe on May 2-09 and well I thought everything was going well but on the 10th I was feeling a little cramping but didn't think much of it cause well I had just gotten off my period. But when I went to the bathroom to pee n wiped I noticed that I was slightly spotting. So I thought to my self ok maybe some spotting is normal. But then I started to cramp more and actually started to bleed like a light period. I was a little freaked out cause well I had just finished my period a week ago. It's been such a nightmare cause I've been bleeding for 8 days now and cramping. I'm extremely moody I can hardly sleep and I can't take it anymore cause well can't really be sexually active if ur bleeding right??? So I made an appt. for Wednesday maybe my Gyno can give me something else cause this is definitely not working for me!!!

My teenage daughter was taking generic Wellbutrin (manufactured by Watson pharmaceuticals) 150 mg. daily for about 3 weeks or so and started having serious hair loss on the top of her head. The prescribing psychiatrist told her to stop the medication and after about 2 weeks, the hair loss has stopped almost completely. I have read a number of blogs including this one that indicate that hair loss is a side effect yet the Wellbutrin trials only listed hair loss as a side effect for less than 1% of patients. Given the U.S. Supreme court ruling today that says that even if the FDA has approved a medication, a pharmaceutical company is still responsible for fully reporting side effects and can in fact be sued in individual states if they do not provide sufficient warning, I would be interested in hearing ideas of how we can put more pressure on the manufacturers of Wellbutrin and its generic equivalent so that they give better warning of this side effect.

I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for not even a month before I had problems. bled, literally, 14 days straight before I stopped taking it. My OB-GYN prescribed Loestrin 24 Fe, and for the first few months it was okay. I am now on my last day of my 6 month on it and I cannot even handle it. My period comes twice a month, or so it seems with spotting. I do NOT get my period when I take the brown pills, as I supposed to. I feel moody, sick, tired yet I cannot sleep, I go to the bathroom several times a day, I throw up, feel short of breath, I get headaches, TERRIBLE stomach pains and I don't feel like going to work or school ever. It's hell. Maybe my body is not right for birth control, but I am DONE with this pill. It's been HELL.

Well everything started out okay...I was on Loestrin 24 Fe for two months and then switched to Microgestin Fe 1/20 because of cost. Everything has been going well, I've lost 7 pounds so far and havn't had any problems until now (Microgestin is the generic equivalent for Loestrin). I had just finished my period 11 days ago on Sunday and got it again that morning. I still have it today and it is light, but I'm still on the white pills...I left a message for my doctor and am awaiting her call.

I posted the following information belolw under Simvastatin, the generic equivalent of Zocor, which may apply to the brand name as well:

"In follow-up to my posting 3-days ago, regarding an adverse reaction to Simvastatin 80mg, I would encourage patients/consumers to directly send their complaint to the web sites listed at the very bottom, if you are either a U.S. (FDA Form 3500) or Canadian resident. Also, if your physician is unresponsive to your negative experience with generic Simvastatin, inform him/her that you refuse to continue with this drug, and that you have sent an adverse reaction complaint to the FDA/Canadian equivalent. Provide both your doctor and pharmacy with a copy of the FDA Form 3500 if your a U.S. resident, so they know you're serious. Lastly, I'm back to feeling normal, after I "demanded" my physician switch me to generic Pravastatin 40mg (2 tabs a day - 80mg), manufactured by Teva Pharmaceutical - corporate HQ Israel with manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania. By the way, a 90-day supply of this quality controlled drug is available at Walmart Pharmacy for $10. I hope this helps, especially seniors on a fixed income. -

U.S.A.

In closing, I would encourage discontinuation of your statin, if it's made by a company based in India or China (call your pharmacist, they can tell you the country of origin).

First off, the side effects listed are not the norm....the "no periods" or very short periods, are the concept of Loestrin 24. Very short, very light periods. The moodiness are often side effects of the YAZ, the other 24 day pill. This is because the progestin dominance of YAZ. Loestrin 24 is known for the very short, very light periods, less side effects due to the shortened time off the pill. The side effects you read are unfortunate (make sure your pharmacist is not switching to a generic - even though there is no generic equivalent) but for the most part, these side effects are RARE!

I was on toprol-xl for almost 8 years without many problems. i also take isosorbide mononitrate.A few months back I was switched to the generic version (metoprolol succinate er by sandoz) now i have many problems.First I have to say I am disabled with severe COPD. Although I do not feel depressed I have a lot of symptoms of depression. Remember I had no symptoms what so ever until switched by Walgreen's or HMO or Doctor to the generic version. Not sure what to do I have a doctor that does not truly listen, plus he did not want me on toprol xl to begin with. Even though it was good for me. Good luck people!

I have had the same serious of same side effects as everyone listed in this site. Tiredness is the BIG one - Mostly to not being able to sleep...Timing is perfect with taking this Drug. i necver had this problem before. I feel great in the morning untill about and hour later after popping the pill and the rest of the day is a struggle. Doc' put me on Provigil (speed) to keep me going. Some days that doesn't even work. it's only been lately i have put two and two together and blame it on the Lisinopril.

Question? Anyone switch Med's and had beter results? If so which one??
Thanks
Rich

The medicine that made my child hear voices repeating the same phrase over and over and made him more agressive, was a generic equivalent to Adderall. When we switched back to the actual "Adderall". He was fine. Very scarey for a while though.
