Genitals symptoms and conditions

I was given 6 pills to take, 2 a day for three days for a UTI. On day 2 I start to itch on my legs and in between my fingers by the end of the day I had a rash in the most private areas and was itching pretty much all over. Lotion or no other moisturizer helped to calm this burning, itching rash. I called the pharmacist on day 3 and he told me to call my doctor immediately and not to finish the medicine because I was having a severe allergic reaction. I called the after hours number because this happened over the weekend. The nurse on call also told me not to finish the last dose and to take Benadryl, 2 pills every 6 hours and to sit in a tub of baking soda to help relieve some of the itching. Well, this didn't help because there was a high dosage of the medicine in my system I was still in excruciating pain. I ended up at the doctors office bleeding from my genitals all because of this medicine. Not only did I have an allergic reaction but I developed a yeast infection also. It took a little over a week for it to clear my system, the Sulfamethoxazole. Thank God I don't have scars from the rash, the blessing stopped and things are pretty normal now.
If you're taking this medication and having symptoms that are out of the norm or some of what I mentioned don't continue to take it. Call your doctor IMMEDIATELY!!!!

My girlfriend and I just got off NuvaRing. The final straw symptoms were an intense burning pain in and around her vagina, extremely low mood, and for me, an itching blotchy rash on the head of my penis.
There were problems with the NuvaRing for her from day one. There was the acne and weight gain, as many people have mentioned, as well as a slight but steady rust-colored discharge. One of the main nuisances of the ring was its tendency to trap semen somewhere in the vagina, only to release it sometimes hours later at incredibly inopportune moments. (Sorry if that's disgusting... Anyone else have that happen though?)
During the second month, the symptoms became worse and more numerous: Pain during and after sex, partly caused by unusual dryness, became a frequent problem. Weight gain and acne increased. And then, in the day or two before we took the ring out, both my penis and her vagina took on a smell which I will describe (somewhat esoterically) as being very similar to that of a good brie after the rind turns orange. In a bad way.
There followed lots of burning and irritation, especially for her, and a general itch which she seemed to have all over her body. She said the pain in her vagina was on par with the worst she'd ever had, coupled with an intense low mood. We became 100% convinced at that point that the ring had to go, and immediately after its removal the symptoms began to slowly subside. It's been less than 24 hours so far, and we're both still calling each other to complain about our genitals, but the bright side is: We're off NuvaRing, the symptoms are subsiding, and we'll never have to go through that again.
As a final note, a message to the women on here who were dumped by their boyfriends because of what NuvaRing did to you: Those guys sound pretty much worthless. Good riddance.

I haven't read this side effect in anyone's posts yet... my spouse and I have had to deal with painful, chafed skin on our genitals after intercourse. Poor guy, he has weird abrasions, redness, and swelling behind the head of his penis while I have external burning and itching. I actually feel like the pH of my vaginal canal has altered and is eating him alive!! I also have had to cope with extreme moodiness and hair loss the past five months since I had it inserted. Needless to say, I'm glad I looked up these side effects to prove I'm not crazy and that neither of us have an STD. I'm making an appointment tomorrow to remove this horrible thing.

I took two 150 mg sustained-release pills of Wellbutrin for two days. On the first day, it made me totally impotent. The second day a widespread inflammation in the genital area followed, at which point I stopped taking it. It took me more than two weeks to recover. I had severe pain in the lower abdominal area and genitals, impotence and a general sense of inflammation stretching from the lower abdomen as far as the anus. I've had Mirena IUD since July 06. Since then I've had incredible mood swings and have been so emotional. I basically was forced to quit a dream job b/c I had trouble being "professional" - that is keeping my cool and not having temper tantrums and snapping at people. Now, with no co-workers, I am doing it to my in-laws. I yell at my kids like I've never yelled at them before. They are scared of me at times. I was forced to see a counselor on 2 occasions when I had incidents at work and was suggested to see a psych for medication for my depression. I am against doing that. I had been trying so hard to lose weight and just wrote it off as being 35+. Just this summer, I started having pain in my right upper thigh and groin area which would radiate all over my leg, knee, shin, hip, low back - just depending on what I was doing. They couldn't figure out the prob so I went through a series of epidural steroid shots which have not helped much. Also, in the past year or so, I seem to not be as mentally sharp. I have trouble recalling names and facts that I should know. I feel like I have early Alzheimer's or something. Also, have that issue with my eyes where I sorta need reading glasses. Eye Dr. said I was a little young at 36 to have that. Have trouble getting things done and staying focused. Feel like I have adult onset AD&D. Other things that are more occasional include: not healing as quickly from minor scrapes and such, some drop in sex drive with some discomfort during sex, some hair loss but I've had that in the past from time to time, dizziness at times, shortness of breath, a cyst which I've never had before. I called my ob/GYN today and I am getting this out of me ASAP. I will definitely miss not having a period but we naturally have a period and it must be for a reason. I would rather deal with that.

The drug was prescribed for gout following a long hospital stay. It helped a lot and mobility was increased. There was swelling of the legs,feet and genitals(male), some sleeplessness,and increased appetite.
Some of the issues may be partly attributed to post op or other related personal diagnosis.

I took doxycyline hyclate for a rash that developed from another drug ciprofloxacin, I had taken the cipro for Prostrate infection ?possibly as who really knows. The resh is now worse and now I am swollen in the genitals area. This morning it seemed to almost dissapear then after a bath it's back and worse. I go to the doctors this morning for the new evaluation. I will report to you this afternoon. I also thank who ever is responcible for this form.
In reading your reactions I am better informed to make dicissions concerning my health. Thank all of you ! ME

I have several as I was on prednizone for about 8 years almost every day..Im 54 and have had cataract surgery on both eyes at the ages of 42 and 46. I have swelling of the genitals that tend to stay with me for weeks at a time,tremendous muscle aches, as well as tiny sores that appear randomly on my body and hurt terribly.Ive had the thinning of the skin due to steroid cream use, its been and still is a constant thing with me. I still have the terrible itching and watering of the eczema that leads to these areas eventually bleeding. I would appreciate any help with finding a specialist that deals with steroid side effects.. Thanks ! Jeff

I have been on Lipitor for almost 18 months. Initially.When I first started the med, I did not have any side effects like others. I felt absolutely fine. Recently, I had to take a epidural for back pain. Shortly, afer that experience, Lipitor began to show it's true colors so to speak. I became numb in teh genitals and impotent. My doctors could not find anything wrong. All lab test and the prostrate was normal. I had absolutely no sensation whatsoever. I was devastated since I really enjoy sex. As of today, I stopped taking this terrible drug and expect a miracle very very soon.

Disappointed

I have been taking Lipitor for about 18 months. Recently, I started having a numbness in my lower buttocks and genitals. I went to see a Urologist iand he could not find anything wrong. I went to see a Cardiologist and he is going to order different tests. I started removing meds that I was taking and Lipitor is the last one I honestly perceive that this is the cause of my problems. I will know shortly if the feelings comes back and numbness leaves me. I also started taking CQ-10 and fish oils to lower my blood pressure and create cleaner arteries and etc. My BP is becoming normal and I am feeling better. I am afraid of Lipitor.

I had one shot(long period styrength) of lupron a year ago.It brought my PSA down from 12.5 to 1.5 but as a very active 79 year old the side effects,particularly loss of muscle size and strength has really been disturbing. Even going up slight slopes is felt on my muscles and there is an accompanying loss of stamina. I wonder if there is an effect on heart muscles because my stamina has been so much reduced. Genitals shrank significantly (now regained after not taking the hormone a second time). There was also a minor reaction, complete loss of hair on my legs.As a formerly very active person I am really hesitant in having another shot.

First I start Itching thinking it was jock itch then small itchy sores hands/feet two days later develop into Genitals sores and on my right ankle. this happen 4 times. before I figured it out. My family/infectious/dermatology doctors all had a different opinion.
