I also developed a harsh annoying cough from Lisinopril. It started a month after I was put on it. I had a cold and thought the cough was just the lingering effect of the cold, but a month later, the the cough was still there. It was a harsh gagging cough that just comes on spontaneously. It gets worst towards the evenings and wakes me up usually twice in the middle of the night. It did lower my blood pressure though. After about a month of coughing, I went to my doctor and was told to stop Lisinopril. I was offered another drug, but since I was wanting to start getting pregnant, was told to just hold off.

I am 25 and I have endometriosis, and every side effect of yasmin that you all have is what i have been experiencing with endometriosis, the only difference is that i have a perfectly normal cycle, its either 28 - 30 days no more no less but still i'm not getting pregnant. I started taking Yasmin about a week ago and to date i have no symptoms. I think what happens is that we search online for information about these medication and what we read freaks us out and we start making our bodies believe that we have these symptoms, in-fact we are constantly looking out for these symptoms. when i read up on endometriosis i wanted to become pregnant so bad for the first time and i would make my self feel pregnant because i would go to these endo forums and read peoples symptoms who got pregnant with endo and i would find myself looking for those symptoms and then my body tricks me into thinking i have all the symptoms they describe on the endo sites and at the end of the 28 days my period arrives in full force as usual. but i schedule my self to take yasmin around my lunch time where i guarantee i will have a bite and i notice that with any pills if you do not eat while taking it, it can cause nausea, headaches. I know that it is very possible for people to get side effects from these medications, but i think we need to relax a little and take our minds off them and put our trust in God and let him take charge, pray everyday, and i don't mean pray for your problems, i mean give God thanks everyday for what he has done in your life and for waking you up because God already knows your problems, he just wants you to show acknowledgement for all he has done. This is the path that i am trying to take to overcome my endometriosis and just hope that one day he will look deep in my soul and help me and women just like me with menstrual issues, and help me and my husband to concieve our first child. the only side effect i am looking forward to while on Yasmin is falling pregnant at some point (you know how some people mistakingly fall pregnant on BCP's well i am looking forward to that) (smile)

I started NuvaRing on Thursday, June 15 2007 and Monday, November 5 was the final draw. I talked with my best friend and admitted to her that something was seriously wrong with me but I didn’t know what. I told my friend I need to talk to someone about how I’ve changed for the worst. Things has gotten so bad with me I actually thought I was Bipolar. So we did some research on NR and when I read the different stories I was blown away because I would have never linked what I was going through to NR.

I had no sex drive non-what so ever, the thought of my boyfriend touching me made me sick to my stomach. I would actually get into physical altercations with him which has never ever happened, my attitude had taken a turn for the worst, I would have thoughts of hurting people that made me angry, I had to wear a panty liner everyday because of the discharge, migraine headaches, pain in my right breast, nausea, abd cramping, feeling tired, waking up in night sweats, felt the need to be alone, and mood swings. Yesterday I called my Dr. and told her I need to get off NR ASAP so she said she would call me back but never did so I took it out for the final time last night. Before I start taking anything else my body will be free of any birth control until NR is totally out my system if this means slipping up and getting pregnant in the process then so be it, it will be a first for me anyway.

NuvaRing was wonderful and the thought of not having to take a pill everyday was even better but the side effects will make you become someone you don’t know and your life will take a turn for the worst and it will have you thinking you are loosing your mind. For those who had no side effects consider your selves lucky because I wouldn’t want anyone to experience what I’ve went through while on NR.

Nuvaring has worked in preventing me from getting pregnant a second time. But what I believe I got from using the Nuvaring is Gall Bladder Disease. There are 2 types of gall bladder disease and I have one of them. I have stones in my gallbladder. And because of that I have to have surgery to get my gallbladder removed. I found that out myself after doctors told me I have stones in my gallbladder. The doctors did not tell me that it was caused from using the Nuvaring. I decided to read up on the Nuvaring after I found out I had to get surgery. One of the side affects of Nuvaring is gallbladder disease. Now I know where I got it from. When it was too late. No one wants to have their gallbladder removed or even think about having to get surgery.

I am 2 weeks and 3 days into taking this pill for the first month and I don't know if I should stay on it. I just started to get brownish blood/spotting and cramps in my back. I am afraid I might be pregnant although my boyfriend always pulls out on time. There is a chance that some precum got inside me, but I haven't been too worried since I don't think it's very likely to get pregnant from precum while on the pill. Should I be worried or are these symptoms normal? I also have had more frequent mood swings and anxiety, but I suffer from both anyway. From all the bad things I have heard, I am eager to switch back to Ortho-Tri Cyclen. Is there a big difference between the pills and the amount of protection they offer from getting pregnant? If any information can be given, I would really appreciate it.

I started using Yasmin right before I was married May 2006. We wanted to have children but, wanted to wait a little bit. I bled the whole month and experienced major weight gain. I had cramps and felt awful on it. I didn't feel like myself. My husband and I started to try for children in Sept of 2006. We stopped taking it. I continued to bleed when I stopped taking it.

A few weeks later we got a positive sign on a pregnancy test. We were so excited!! A few days later I started to bleed. I went to the doctor and after blood tests and ultrasounds they found something on my right ovary. At first they thought it might be cancerous. After more tests we found out it wasn't cancerous but there was a cyst.

I had had previous doctor visits with nothing showing. A clean bill of health. Now all of a sudden I take these pills and I have a cyst on my ovary. We continued to watch it and they came to the conclusion that I would need to have it removed. In November I had my right ovary removed.

Our chances have lessened since the removal, I stopped taking the pill at the end of January. We have yet to get pregnant, and have been trying most of the year. I continue to have my period monthly but, we are not pregnant yet. I find it difficult to lose weight too, although I'm still trying. I don't know if we are ever going to get this stuff cleared out of my system. No one ever warned me of possible cysts, of the dangers of using vitamin C, and we were told that we should have no problem, as soon as we stopped taking it we should have no problem getting pregnant!!
LIES, LIES, LIES.

I'd be interested in participating in a class action lawsuit. We may never have kids because of this.

Has anyone had any sleep disturbances with Mirena? I have had horrible nightmares and wake up feeling really shaky and horrible, and still really tired. Maybe this isn't caused by the mrens, but I can remember when I was younger i used to get pre-menstrual insomnia, the night before I got my period...just wondered if there was a link with all the progesterone/progesterin. Also, people who have had mood swings, have you noticed if they are particularly bad at one part of your cycle? Mine I would have to say, are really bad a few days before bleed and 3 or 4 days into the bleed, when I feel suicidal.

I've still not taken it out yet. Maybe 'm being a bit stupid, but I'm so scared of getting pregnant-I'm still at uni-and I can't think of any non-hormonal contraceptives....cept maybe something I've heard of called the 'sponge'. Has anyone heard of this or used it/know where I could buy it in the UK?I'd appreciate any replies! Thank you

Hello to all, I have been on Yasmin for about 3 or 4 years and wanted to add something to the information already on this forum. I am now 25 and have been on the Pill since the age of 16. I put myself on it for birth control and had to change a number of time as the Microgynon caused a mass load of acne (which I hadn't ever experienced previousl)!! I was then put on Dianette for ages as it was the only one which sorted that issue out. Finally I was told I had to leave Dianette and was given the ''new'' Yasmin. I have to say, I have never (apart from the spots from high hormone ones) had any obvious symptoms from the Pill at all.....
I do suffer from IBS but I can't link it to any specific Pill. I have never suddenly gained or lost weight at all or got bigger breasts (which I would LOVE). My tiredness is merely due to getting up at 5:30am most mornings and leading a very hectic lifestyle..!
I don't know whether that is of any use to anyone at all but I thought I would add this in anyway, so that people don't feel the need to avoid Yasmin at all costs. I think at the end of the day, it's a manufactured drug to stop you getting pregnant and it's going to have some sort of drawbacks...I guess maybe we all need to start putting more pressure on men to take responsibility and not filling our bodies with poison?
One question for you all though: has anyone had problems getting pregnant once coming off this drug?

I'm soooo confused! I have just recently started feeling VERY depressed- when I fisrt got it put in, I was fine, no pms or anything. But I've now had it in for about a year and am thinking about having it taken out. My moods and my self confidence are very up and down. One moment I feel great and the next I want to scream and break things and cry. And I often do. I thought I was going mad, but having read these it all makes sense. I had been taking the pill and it made me depressed, so I got the copper coil put in. That caused me to have terrible periods, that were very painful and when I went to the family planning, the doc said that a mirena coil would be better for me and the hormones would not affect me, since the hormone is localised. But I have had bad acne on my face, chest and back and I had never had acne before. If the hormone is that localised, why is it causing the acne?! I keep thinking, maybe its just me being mental and its not the coil making me depressed. But I think thats just cos I feel a bit desperate- what the hell contraceptive can I use that wont make me depressed(no hormones)?? condoms are just rubbish. O and my sex-drive is currently non-existant and my relationship with my boyfriend is going down the drain due to that and the moods. My sex drive used to be healthy. My breasts have also shrunk but are painful. I luckily havent put on weight. I have really bad period pains, that feel like a 'snapping' feeling. If I ever had period pains before, they never felt that way. Its weird!
I don't know what to do. I will get it taken out-its not a financial concern for me since I live in Scotland. But it is stress to find something to stop getting pregnant!

I had my Mirena placed in October 2006, about 12 weeks following the birth of my 1st son. It was slightly painful upon insertion, more than I expected, but bearable.

Let me suggest to everyone to do some research on the fact that women can and have been getting PREGNANT with this in place. Whether due to improper placement, or just being one of the 1 out of 1000, I am now PREGNANT!

It came as a shock, since it had talen us over a year to get pregnant with our first, and having this in is supposed to be 99% effective, or so it is marketed.

I have taken two brands of home pregancy tests, both positive, and my period is 5 days late (I am very regular).

I have an appt for Monday for ultrasound to check position of device and see if the pregnancy is ectopic or what...

Hi y'all... (actually i'm from England but i like the sound of that first line)...
Well, i've been reading quite a lot of these reviews, after being made to feel like 'the only one' to have suffered from the fancy new yasmin pill, and what claims the manufacturers make!! It's almost like a wonder drug and according to them it's supposed to solve all the female problems connected with BC pills... like depression, weight gain, anxiety, PMS, headaches etc etc... the only trouble is, i found it CAUSED all those problems in me and within a very short space of time. I've only been on it for ten days but i can't stand to take anymore...I've never felt so shit ...(can you hear the 'irritability' for starters'..?!) and I've never felt so TIRED in all my life, and that's saying something, cos i'm a nurse and i can get pretty bloody tired in my job sometimes...also i feel totally 'weird' and i'm battling mood swings and depression like i've never had before. Friends have even remarked that my 'personality' seems to have altered, from 'stable and positive' to 'erratic and melancholy'...and as far as sex is concerned, forget it, i have no sex-drive whatsoever. Other effects i have suffered are constant nausea, painful wind, ringing in the ears, extreme changes in body temperature from hot to really cold, itchy skin and painful twinges all over my body!! I hasten to add, these haven't been all at once, but everyday i suffer from atleast two or three of these symptoms, to quite a noticeable degree. Today i threw the remaining pills away and was glad to chuck them out with the rest of the rubbish; these pills have caused my thinking to be so 'screwy' that now i seriously believe that getting pregnant isn't as bad as all this!!!
Best of luck to anyone brave enough to try out this new pill, after all these negative reports on this site, think to yourself is it worth it?!!

I was on yasmin for about a year and a half. On June 15, 2005 when I was 18, I suffered a massive brainstem stroke. It almost took my life. Getting pregnant is something I was trying to avoid but dont be greedy. Birth control can be extremely dangerous for a few people, and by the way, no I did not smoke.

Well, Ladies I've taken Yaz for almost three years and what I am now figuring out is it's makes me photosensitive. I get sun-poisoning! Even when it's only for a few minutes here and there. Also, has anyone noticed when they get in the sun your upper lip turns darker? That's the Yaz, too.

I've been reading everyone's side effects. I can't stop reading. Some side effects are surprising and some I can relate to. As for me my breasts got bigger. I've gained about 6 pounds. My husband and I thought it was because of my increase in appetite which we didnt attribute to the NR. Then today he put 2 and 2 together and figured out it was the ring. I've been on the ring for 2 months. My side effect are the increase in boob size, increase in appetite, and mild bouts of depression, and I was about to pay $60 to get evaluated by a psychiatrist. I haven't had any other side effects. Atleast not yet. I started taking the NR to regulate my period. I'm not worried about getting pregnant b/c my husband got a vasectomy. I'm gonna ride it out and see just how big my boobs get. I was a 34A now I'm a very full A maybe even a B, but I can still fit my A bras (barely). I feel so much more informed having found this site. Atleast now if something abnormal happens I'll know why.

"Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place" 04/04/07
Thank you for all of your shares! Has anyone experienced Diarrhea as a result of taking Yasmin 28? I have been on it for 4/5 years. I started taking it because my GYN diagnosed me with endometriosis and my periods were heavy and sooo very painful. So, at first it was a relief; my periods didn't last as long, were not as heavy and the cramps were lessened. HOWEVER, ever since I have been on the Yasmin, I have been certainly very moody, and I have had moderate to severe tummy pains a lot of the time, and spontaneous bowel movements including diarrhea! I have tried every medication from anti-spasmadic meds to anti-anxiety meds to homeopathic remedies and probiotics. I was diagnosed with IBS many years ago but the symptoms grew soooo much worse ever since I started the Yasmin!! After being on Yasmin, it was as if my whole gastro system broke down; I have seeked help & testing from gastroenterologists since I developed ulcers due to h-pylori bacteria, diverticulosis of the intestines, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining)and I even developed a hiatal hernia and have to take prevacid daily ever since I started taking Yasmin! I eat healthy, I am 33 years old, I don't drink or do drugs and I don't smoke. I swear I am beginning to think all of this may have been caused by the Yasmin since none of it was occurring before I started taking the Yasmin 4.5 years ago!? I think I want to get off of it now, but I am afraid to take any other birth control due to suffering from more side effects. Although I do want to have children with my boyfriend when we get married in a few years, I am in fear of getting pregnant now if I get off the Yasmin. I don't even know if the rythym method truly works. Help?!

I had 2 40mg Kenalog injections in L5 & S1 for a slipped disk a month a half ago. I had a consultation with my doctor beforehand and basically I was told that I may have some mild side effects a couple of days after the injection that would go away in a few days & possibly a bump on the injection site. I am a very healthy 31 year old female so I figured this procedure would cause me minimal problems......Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. 20 days I got my period and it wouldn't stop. It lasted for 9 days and 5 days later I got my period again for 9 more days. It has gone on like this for over 3 weeks now. I have always had a regular period that lasted no more than 4 days. I was completely horrified and thought the worst like cancer or something. My doctor has run numerous different tests on me and everything is normal except that I am anemic and low on sodium. The Dr. can only conclude it was this corticosteroid shot. After reading this message board I am at a lost for words! It seems like others had symptoms like this and even worse! I also planned on getting pregnant soon and no one told me this would be an issue. Now it is. I also read that this drug can lead to osteoporosis so to everyone out there on Kenalog start taking calcium and iron too.

I have been on Solia, a generic for Desogen for about a year and a half. I just finished up my last pack and am never taking it again. It is horrible. Weight gain, extremely moody, irritable, depression, nothing positive on this pill other than it kept me from getting pregnant. I had the Essure procedure and highly recommend it, if you do not want kids get it over with and get Essure, get off the pill, especially this one.

Well I have to say I have plenty of side effects! Most are bad though the good one is that it doesn't make my acne worse! I am 23 years old. I was on the NR back in 2005 after having been on the patch and ended up getting pregnant while on the ring. I never noticed any real side effects of the ring the first time I was on it. I started the NR again Aug. 2006 and have since had a steady weight gain (going from a size 12 being baggy to a size 14). I am now weight 155lbs and am 4'11.5" which is very overweight for my height. Also my family believes that the ring is causing me to have mood swings. I have headaches at least every day. My family thinks my face is bloated as well as my neck. Vaginal discharge is worse as well as having more infections and irritation. Loss of appetite, depression, and also my period is even more out of whack with severe cramping the first day of my period. Hope this helps other women on the ring.

I have actually been on Nuvaring for over 2 years and I love it. I like the security of not needing to take a pill the same time everyday (i'm in constant fear of getting pregnant). I did experience some of the side effects posted on this message board, but most of them were in the first 4 months and went away after that. The most memorable side effect was moodiness - the slightest thing would make me sensitive and cry. My bf thought i was crazy. I continue to get migraines occasionally but I had them before i started BC in general. My only complaints are the continued vaginal discharge and the dwindled sex drive, although I hear that is not uncommon for most BCs.

i'm so glad i found this site. i started taking bc pills again in feb 04. in feb 05, i switched to yasmin because i heard so many good things about it and the other pills were making me sick. when i'm finished with this pack, i'm not refilling it. here's my experience with yasmin: the good: my period is regular, no breakouts, period is lighter and shorter, no worries about getting pregnant. the bad: still get cramps, boobs hurt all the time and am spilling out of my bra, facial discolorations, feel bloated all the time. the ugly: horrific migraines (never had them before), anxiety and depression and i'm a happy person. i'm doing a detox cleanse to get myself back to normal when i'm off. for now, i'll take my chances with condoms and natural methods. nothing is worth what i've been going through. thank you all for sharing your experiences because i thought i was just going crazy.

hello! Wow I'm glad to find this site! I have been on Orthotricyclen-Lo, Orthotricyclen, and now Yasmin in just the past 8 months. The nurses and OB/GYN like to tell me to just give it "one more month", but when you're going through severe mood swings, one more month is an eternity! Besides, BCPs shouldn't keep us from living our normal lives! My problem is also with extreme fatigue on the last few days of hormones and then into my period. I bloat the whole time I'm on the hormones...and my boobs are waaaay too big. Plus, around the 3rd week, I get depressed - consistently. I can't live like this. I'm waiting on a phone call from my ob-gyn to get her thoughts on getting of BCPs for good. I never had any issues with my periods before getting on bc and I can sure find another way to keep from getting pregnant.

I have had Mirena since April 2005 and after 3-4 months of spotting I have not had a period. I love it. I don't have to worry about getting pregnant. (I have a 2.5 year old and an 11 month old) It' also ideal for me because birth control pills are not very effective due to the fact that my liver is busy with my anti-seizure medicines. Having the horomones delivered directly to my cervix makes the Mirena 99.9% effective. I haven't had any weight gain, I can breast feed without any worries, and I can't say that it has affected my libido. I Love it!

I've been on Yasmin for probably over 2 years now. I was taking it continuously for endometriosis but if I forgot one pill or took it later than usual I would start BLEEDING, not spotting, and a lot of bloating and cramping. I also had a lot of stomach problems when I bled and I just got so very frustrated with the bleeding, stomach pain & bloating as well as the severe cramping that comes with endometriosis. Well I stopped the darn pills for about 2 weeks but I was worried about getting pregnant so I decided to get back on them. First off, I have noticed in the past week since I re-started the pills that I am getting cystic acne which is very distressing to me because I am 29 years old and I suffered from cystic acne for a long time before I got it under control with Accutane but not before the scar damage was done. I never even thought that the Yasmin could be causing it since I didn't have this problem prior to stopping it. I happened to stumble upon this website looking for help with pregnancy issues related to Yasmin users. I was just on Yasmin's website which said that recent studies indicate that women are the most fertile the first two weeks after stopping Yasmin. So I'm freakin' out a bit here because I was off exactly two weeks and my husband and I were quite "frisky" these past two weeks. Is there anyone out there that may have experienced an unexpected "quick" pregnancy right after stopping Yasmin? I already see that many people have suffered from the acne, I'm just not sure why it didn't affect my skin before.
