I have been taking Prednisone for my Gout conditions, and after a recent visit to the eye doctor I found out that they Prednisone gave me Glacoma conditions. I now have increased eye pressure build up. At this time there is no nerve damage, but as a result of the medication I now have to use eye drops twice a day for the rest of my life. I am no l onger on this medication, and since I have also found a new doctor. I am interested in hearing more stories like this and what have other results have been.

I have been taking Topamax for about two weeks now just 25 mg to start and I woke up this morning and my perfect vision was no more.
EVERYTHING IS BLURRY. I was told that one of the side affects of this medication is Glacoma like symptoms where you lose your vision fast.
I was told to stop taking the medication and hopefully the symptoms will go away

I am a 40yr old woman who has been on this drug now for almost ten years. I have depression.anxiety, sleep disorders and weight gain, and i always had attributed these to the paxil i was taking or my abuse that i suffered as a child. I have very strong pain or spordiac aches in my ankels and wrists and a bad lower back...again I was thinking this was from my past abuse as a child. I just got done reading this, and now i am wondering what is going on...My asthma has been under control well by this drug. I would not take the advair my dr said too cause of the high risk of glacoma and my fear of someone touching my eyes, i really freak out majorly, its that bad, anyhow...I sit here and wonder, I am going to be ok now?!!!

I have COPD and use an Albuterol nebulizer 4x a day. I have a very hoarse voice. Could the nebulizer be the cause?
Also using Advair Discus and my glacoma readings have gone up 4 points. Now using two eye drops: Xalatan 2.5ml once a day and 10m; of Alphagan twice a day. What else can I do to lower my glacome readings?

This is in reponse to a message dated Tue, 31 Dec 2002 19:42:56 -0500. Regarding eye pressure (glacoma). My father started taking zocor first. When both of them went to the Eye doctor for annual visit, my father had abnormal pressure in his eyes. My mother was normal. 3 months later my mother went on Zocor and started seeing flashing in her right eye. A visit to the eye doctor revealed that she has abnormal eye pressure in both eyes. Another 3 months later, she was given eye drops for treating glacoma. I would recommend that everyone get their eyes checked. Doctor's do not believe this is a side effect, but unless you go for a checkup you don't know there is eye pressure which leads to glaucoma.

I was diagnosed with glacoma, and found out it was caused by Topamax. Now I am faced with maybe losing my sight.
