Hey everyone, I currently have the mirena, and have been happy so far until today, reading these posts. I have also had joint pain in my knees and hips and forgetfulness, I feel lazy all the time. Also I wanted to know if anyone has been effected by milk. When I drink milk I get like a lump my throat. It started when i would drink a whole glass of milk so I stopped doing that, then today I had a few bites of a wendy's frosty and got the same feeling. This could be totally unrelated I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of things going on.

I, too, experienced the violent vomiting from taking a Lactase enzyme tablet (it was the store-brand generic version of Lactaid), after having taken it just fine for months.
My mom was visiting my husband and I and we all went to breakfast. I took a tablet right before I started drinking the large glass of milk I ordered (I'm weak when it comes to dairy, oddly enough). Within an hour I was home, vomiting, and dealing with abdominal pains and bloating. I continued to vomit for a couple of hours until finally, I was able to sleep.
A week later, I was eating with my husband at a restaurant for lunch, and because I had sour cream and cheese on my tacos, I took a tablet. About two hours later, I was calling him to take me home because I was sweating and it dawned on me what was going on. I felt exactly how I did the last time. By 8 that night, I was done vomiting.
I will be avoiding this product, generic or name-brand, for good now.

About eight to ten years ago i had a violent reaction to lactaid. I had taken it numerous time before with no problems and then I woke up one morning - had a bowl of cereal and a lactaid pill - within the hour I was experiencing severe stomach pain along with vomiting and diarrhea. I thought it might have been due to the fact that i had had very little to eat the day before and only a bowl of cereal that morning with the extra strength pill.
the following weekend i was brave enough to try it again with some ice cream at night (this time i had a full stomach from dinner). BIG mistake - this time it was worse - the stomach pain was out of this world (i have a high pain threshold but this had me in the fetal position) and i couldnt leave the toilet and trash can for a few hours. My girlfriend was scared and called one of those nurse hot lines. they told her to coat my stomach with some kaopectate - which seemed to help. I checked the bottle of lactaid - and the expiration date had passed - so i threw it away and swore off of lactaid pills. fortunately they came out with the lactaid milk!
Fast forward to now - never touched the stuff again. well the other day I was out of lactaid milk and my wife (yes the same girlfriend) had picked up some samples of lactaid pills at a trade show - so I guess with the passage of time - I forgot how painful and miserable the other experiences had been - so i took the pill. Nothing happened!
Last night i decide to take another one because i had a craving for ice cream (had been awhile!). I figured it was ok since i had no reaction a week ago. Well sure enough - within the hour I was on the floor in severe stomach pain - followed by vomiting and diarrhea. This time we had kaopectate in the house - so i started taking it - well i just threw it right back up.
This episode lasted about an hour and a half this time. There was a metallic taste in my mouth about the third time i vomited, and the fifth and final time, there was puddle of yellow liquid that came out at the end.

Hi All
I just started taking doxycycline three days ago for Chronic Folliculitis of the scalp. I am so glad to hear I am not the only one who gets nauseas. The first morning that I took it, I was driving to work and threw up right in my car. Didn't have enough time to make it out of the car when I pulled over. Anyway for some reason this medicine will not let me sleep at night either. I keep waking up every half hour wondering why I am waking up for. Its nerve raking! Now everytime i eat i get pain in my chest and back. After reading all the post about the sun effects, you can rest assure I will not be going into the sun while on this medication.

I began taking 100 mg x2 per day for ten days for a bacterial infection. I am 48 years old and I have Fibromyalgia and arthritis pain issues as well as other health problems. By day three of taking doxy, my pain issues increased dramatically. My legs burn and the pain the runs from the waist to the heels of my feet are not something that has happened to me before...thus, I surmize it is the doxy. My legs and feet burn and hurt so much that it is difficult to walk and to sleep as even resting them on the mattress keeps me awake at night. I tried taking it with a tbsp. of peanut butter and a small glass of milk and in 15 minutes I vomit. I need to have considerable food in my stomach and yet, I have great stomach pain that comes in waves. This is a very difficult medicine to take!

I've been taking Doxycycline for the past week and for the first few days I experienced severe nausea and vomiting. What works for me is taking the pill with a glass of milk as well as something to eat (like a piece of toast or a scone). My doctor said that doing this wouldn't alter the effectiveness of Doxycycline. Good Luck!

I just started taking Levaquin yesterday, one 500 mg dose at about 5:00 pm according to Doctors Instructions, and another at bedtime, also according to Doctors Instructions. I took the first dose with food,(two slices of pizza) as was instructed. I dont know whether or not it was due to the fact i had not been eating hardly for about a week with a urinary/kidney infection, and suddenly food was re-introduced or due to the pills themselves, but i had terrible pains in what felt like the beginning of the intestines for about 4 hours until about 2:30 am when i decided to get up and drink a small glass of milk and a couple of lady finger cookies (no filling) hoping the mass would help me get to sleep. After about a half an hour at approximately 3 or so, is when i think i finally gave in to exhaustion and finally fell asleep. I woke this morning with a slight pain still there in what seems to be my intestines, on the left front side, and some pain in my left kydney area. What's up with this drug? Dare i continue taking it or should i call my doctor to get something else much less apparently dangerous.

As I write this it is 4:30 in the morning and my flushing is just beginning to subside. I have been on Niaspan for about 6 months now and this is the worst episode I have had yet. Woke me up-usually hard to do- and I felt like i was on fire all over and red just like a sunburn. This has lasted about an hour and I am now feeling better. I'm taking it for low HDL, historically low all my life (72 years) and it seems that 500 mg wasn't enough so now i'm taking 1000 mg each night. After reading all the messages on this site I am going to do some experimenting. Today I had fried chicken and later yogurt and then a baby aspirin and a glass of milk w/ the Niaspan. A bit earlier I drank a glass of chocolate drink and drank some hot coffee. This appears to be a recipe for inducing flushing. I am going to see if, in fact, fatty foods, chocolate and yogurt contribute to flushing. I already know that I made a mistake with the decaf coffee. The flushing, accompanied by somewhat rapid heartbeat seems to be almost a normal state of affairs w/ this vitamin in high doses but there is no need to panic according to the vast majority of responses here. I'm definitely going to try the applesause snack instead of dairy. My first blood test about six weeks into the 500mg dose showed very little improvement in HDL so I'm going to retest very soon to see how 1000 mg is doing. I'll let you know.
