I am a 49 year old female who started on 10 gm Lisinopril 2 weeks ago for high blood pressure. I've had a couple instances of light-headedness and headaches, nothing serious, but I have developed a real bad dry cough that I can't control. Sometimes it's bad enough I gag and almost vomit, and am loud enough I can be heard all through the office - very embarrassing. I've gotten up in the middle of the night to leave the bedroom so I won't disturb my husband. Other than the cough I have no complaints and actually feel better now than I did before I started. I read somewhere that iron supplements help the cough and I have started taking these to see if it's true; so far I think the cough is not as bad but still as frequent. It's only been a couple of weeks so I want to keep going for a few weeks longer to see if things get better or worse.

Hi, I googled Yasmin as, like GM/Gabrielle, I have problems with hyperpigmentation on my upper lip and my chin (making me look like I have the beginnings of a beard and a mustache, highly attractive!!) I took Yasmin for about a year from 2002-3. I have surfed the net before at various points curious about Yasmin, but decided that I was just unlucky in taking Yasmin and it was one of those things. Having read all the posts here I am disgusted that this drug is available at all. Yes, we are all guinea pigs and yes, the doctors who prescribe this medication and others like it have no idea of the long term effects or maybe they are not really that bothered? How the hell are they made available anyway? Pharmaceutical companies literally get away with murder, to say nothing of their moral responsibility with regard to vivisection. As soon as I started to notice the pigmentation and connected it with the Yasmin I saw my doctor who immediately took me off it,warning me that it shouldn't get any worse but it may not go away. It does get worse if exposed to any sun, so I use a strong sublock and skin lightening cream all year round which thus far has only lightened the skin slightly (I live in the UK). I'm getting married this year and it will be a shame to feel self conscious about my skin, but having read these posts I feel so lucky to only have this to "worry" about - this is minor in comparison to life threatening blood clots. My grandmother died from thrombosis - maybe my vanity on this occasion has saved my life.

I have been taking simvastatin since June 28, 2008. I am 44 years old and have always been majorly active with my 17 year old daughter. Recently I have become chronically fatigued so much as to want to go back to bed within 2-3 hours after I get up in the morning, (definitely not me). I have felt spaced out, depressed to the point of wanting to cry all the time, have severe back, hip, knee, leg, and hand pain. I go to pain management for my back and hip problems (past surgery), but the usual pain has been intensified over the last 2 months and I wasn't sure why, until i decided to check out the Simvastatin to see if it has made me put on a few pounds, and boy have my eyes been opened!!!!!!!!! I AM STOPPING THE MEDICATION IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all who have spoken up, I wish I would of checked on this sooner!!!!! I'm calling my Dr. first thing in the morning!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi I have severe lower-back cramps and ache going all he way up to my shoulder blades.
I guess its from the Euthyrox 25micro grams(Livothyroxine sodium) which I am taking now for over a week.
I was diagnosed for hypothyroidism and my T3, T4 levels were marginally high so my practitioner started me on the lowest dose.
But this side effect is quite disturbing and need to get rid of this to handle the work pressure in the office.
thanks
Abhishek

I've been on Lamictal for about four years (I also take Topamax) and it's never given me much of a problem as far as I could tell - until now. At least, I think - HOPE? - it's the Lamictal. Out of the blue two weeks ago, I became so lightheaded and dizzy that I couldn't imagine what was going on. It got so bad one day that it tripped off an aura and I almost had a GM for the first time in over 5 years. I've been to the (regular) doctor who did blood tests to check for various problems, and have an appointment with an ENT tomorrow to check for inner ear problems... because I couldn't imagine that I would suddenly develop a Lamictal issue this far into taking it. But, reading your responses it appears that I possibly could be. Thank you for posting your experiences, I'm going to call my neuro right now.

I started using Maxide late last fall as an addative to Norvasc for better BP control. Some bloodwork done 2 1/2 months after I started this drug showed a hemaglobin of 16 Gm. High even for me who has always run a hemaglobin in the 14 gm range. Now 5 months later my hemaglobin is 16.9 gm. This scares me. Adding the Maxide was the only change made that I can think of and wonder if by some mechanism the Maxide could be the culprit here. I am taking only 12.5 mg per day. Any thoughts?

Side Affects :
Long hours of sleeping. Always early nights sometimes 7pm
excessive weight gain.
Appetite increased to eat carbohydrate foods.
Totally disappointed with the medication. Been on it for nearly 5 years. Am going off medication this week. (was on such a low dose, down to 100 gm.)
Feeling a bit sleepless - I was told it wasn't addictive medication however now that I'm off the medication I have had sleepless nights.
Active efforts/Improvements since going off.
Have now increased excercise 40minute walks at least 3 times a week. And swimming and sometimes aerobics.
Also increased salad intake
Concerned because the Dr "encouraged seroquel medication" over a previous medication that was causing lactation. Felt that Dr was just marketing medications pushed by giant pharmaceutical companies. Disappointed and Concerned.
Totally upset over this felt psycho therapy would help constantly concerned with this medication dropped from 300 gm to 100 gm. This still didn't help with side affects.

-- By base77 | Reply | (4) replies | Private Message meI am 65 yrs , very active. Play hockey, baseball, slopitch, and jog.
Started on Lipitor 10gm about 5 years ago. About 6 months later increased to 20gm. about 1 years later increased to 40 gm. Did not really notice any side effects. During that time cholesterol dropped from approx in Aug2005 to 8.01: ; Jan06 to 6.37:; Apr06 to 5.3 ; May09 @ 4.2. No problems noticed while on 40s for about 2 years.
June09 doctor increased to 80 gm !? Started to notice muscle cramps and pain . Also started to notice some stomach upsets.Thought I had strained a hamstring muscle from hard running acceleration but not sure now after reading some of the comments. Three days ago , although I always stretch for 1/2 to 3/4 an hour before every baseball which I play 4 times a week, I had very severe muscle cramps suddenly above my calf muscle just below the knee as I started to run to 1st base. I played the rest of the game but in pain and could not run hard . Could not sprint on my toes as I always did , so had to run about half speed but flat footed on the bases but painful,as we had only 9 players. Had hot shower Thursday night after game, massaged calf area with Wintercrest ointment. Got up this morning Friday , muscle sore but can walk on my toes. Tonight @ midnight slight soreness but most of the pain gone. I was thinking that I might have strained a calf muscle playing baseball but noway! I think it has to do with the doubling of the Lipitor from 40 to 80!!!! Will cut back back to 40 gm on my own till I see the doctor.
Will go to see my Doctor ASAP!!!
