All I have to say is THANK GOD I FOUND THIS SITE! I thought I was losing my mind this weekend! I had noticed the usual loss of appetite and nausea with this medicine, but none of that was really bothersome. What was awful was the anxiety. I woke up at 5am panic stricken, on with my heart pounding, but somehow managed to talk myself down and go back to sleep. The next day about an hour after my morning dose a switch literally flipped and I was filled with rage, and crying and screaming, and had no control over myself. My boyfriend grabbed a hold of me and said "you are not well". I started looking online to see that mental/mood changes was a side effect of the drug and immediately decided to stop taking it. It took a while for my body to recover though, I felt depressed and sleepy for the next few hours, and it took a while for me to get out of bed. I do not recommend this medicine to anyone.

I went to the doctor and she gave me a prescription for an antibiotic which was $150.00 which I said no way. I went home and phoned her and she said she had samples of a different one in her office I could pick-up. It had no information on the drug and I am on my third day of taking it. It is 750 mg and I am about 118 lbs. My cough is better, but I feel strange. Earlier today, all of a sudden, I felt achy all over like I had a fever again, very tired, and a headache but could not sleep when I came home. I was thinking maybe I am over doing it after just getting over being so sick, but now after reading this I think I know why I feel this way. So far, I have not had any sharp pains in my legs, but am also on meds for pain which make me worry about how Levaquin might interact. My head is in a fog and I just woke up after falling a sleep for about 20 minutes with my heart racing, ears ringing and bad dreams. I can not go back to sleep and found this web-site which I am glad and will not take anymore LEVAQUIN! When I took the first pill it was on an empty stomach and felt nauseus because I had not been eating because of my sickness. I still don't have much of an appetite. I have 2 kids I have to take care of, a house, a hubbby, a part-time serving job and need my strength and SLEEP! I was at work yesterday and found that I could not get my words out right etc. again, I thought it might be from just getting over being sick, but now I know why and will call my doctor first thing Monday and let her know.

I picked a quit date of Tuesday, because I wanted to smoke the weekend out and I hate Monday mornings going to work so I thought Tuesday would be better, I was right, I quit last Tuesday the day I was supposed to, it was hard but not as hard as I thought, it's been 8 days and I can honestly say I can go without them, sometimes I smell cigarettes and want one but then other times it smells really bad to me. Drinking does not help, you want to smoke more, I also used the patch at the same time I quit, it helped but I only had to use those for about 4 days and didn't need those any more. I get a tiny bit nauseaus (sp) right after I take the pill but it goes away within a 1/2 hour.
I am having trouble sleeping, I wake up during the night and can't go back to sleep, no weird dreams though, I was almost looking forward to those because my friend had them with Chantix. Any how it worked for me, 20 + years of smoking done and in the past.

I am 33 yrs old and using BC for the first time to regulate my periods and also for acne. I have been using Loestring 24 FE for a month and a half. I did get my period after not getting it for three months. However, this drug has been causing me chronic insomnia. I wake up every night at 3am and cannot go back to sleep. I feel super accelerated for much of the day. I too have had bad nightmares since I have been on this drug. Some of other cons are: vaginal dryness and major mood swings. I can be upset for no reason and then be crying hysterically. I am waiting to make the 6 month mark to decide if this is working for me or not.

last night I started taking geodon again this time at 80mgs, I woke up feeling like I am going to pass out and lightheaded and vision was blurring, also I was really tired but couldn't go back to sleep and I was really scared. I went to the er and the doctor was really nice and explained to me that it might be the geodon, so I am not going to take them again till I talk to my doctor cause I could barely function and I had to forgo the things I needed to do

My 2 year old daughter was recently prescribed this medication. She has been having nightmares every night & I give it to her in the morning after breakfast. She will wake up screaming her head off & it often takes over an hour to get her calmed down enough to go back to sleep. But when she does go to sleep, she's out cold for several hours. She's also started hitting & being very violent. At first I thought it was because she couldn't tell us what she wanted, but its been getting worse & worse everyday that she takes Singulair. I guess, we will switch back to Zyrtec for her allergies.

I originally went on Yasmin because I experience horrible menstrual cramps. As a cure for cramps, Yasmin is a miracle. HOWEVER...I have been on it for almost 3 years now & have noticed new issues. I now have insomnia (recurring almost EVERY night). I can fall asleep, but ALWAYS wake up after a couple of hours & usually can't go back to sleep, or sometimes wake up every hour or less. Also, I haven't been able to wear contact lenses in almost 3 years. I have an unusual condition that causes my eyelashes to grow abnormally. I have zero sex drive. Other birth control brands make me moody & angry, but I don't know which is worse.

I have major bad effects from strong perfumes, more of a chemical intolerance/autoimmune response (body aches, fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating) than nasal or sinus type reaction. This gets worse as the years go by. One of my former coworkers drowned herself in strong perfumes every day. I felt like I had the flu all the time and my other co-workers could barely smell the perfume. My doctor put me on Singulair. It was like a miracle, I was almost unaware of the perfume and my symptoms were gone. I left that job at the end of Feb. 07 and stopped the Singulair immediately. Within 4 or 5 days, I was completely crippled by lower back pain, right at the top of the pelvic bone, started in one side then moved to the other. Spent most of a week not being able to move, walk, etc. I started another job mid-May and started the Singulair again due to the entire place being landscaped with jasmine, another of my major triggers. I left that job after 4 weeks, stopping the Singulair immediately again. Now, several days later, the back problems are returning and worsening. I've never had lower back problems in my life. I am thinking that the crippling back pain may be due to the sudden cessation of Singulair. Any thoughts on that, anyone? I also wish I had read these comments earlier, because during my last 3+ weeks on Singulair, I was waking up after a couple hours of sleep and unable to go back to sleep due to mind racing, was uncharacteristically unable to cope with stress, etc. It was a nightmare that I blamed on the new job and now am wondering if it was not caused by Singulair.

Valerian root worked wonderfully for me--when I would wake up in the night i would take two capsules and go back to sleep within an hour. Even when I would take it at 4 a.m. and get up at 6, I would awake refreshed and have no "drug hangover." However, I believe it built up in my system, and it then caused negative side effects. My heart began pounding at night, my stomach was nervous and even seemed to quiver sometimes on the left, and i had pain on the right that I initially thought was my liver. The day before I quit taking it, I was itchy all over. That was when I realized that Valerian root was probably the source of all my negative symptoms. After not taking it for two days I began to quit feeling nervous and sick and itchy. I guess the lesson is that a person should only use this herbal supplement occasionally and in small doses.

I started Singulair and did not notice symptoms until about 8 or 9 days into it. The first side effect was severe nausea and fever, I thought I had the flu for about 2 days. I was in bed and then started researching side effects for the medication. Within the same nights I had 2 insanely weird dreams that kept me up. I was literally afraid to go back to sleep and finish these dreams, they seemed to real, like they were truly happening. I woke up in the morning and did not even want to get out of bed. I told my husband I felt very depressed, and extremely irritable. He said "What else is new!" Only joking. I am never under the weather, so we knew something was wrong. I quit taking the medication after these symptoms, because this is just not me. I think of the symptoms by itself would not make me suspicious, but all of them together....and knowing the only difference in my lifestyle are the pills, I had to stop. I will try and post if something changes. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow in hopes another medicine will not affect me the same way.

I began taking singulair on Thursday, March 28th for a severe allergy/sinus condition. My family Dr. prescribed a combination of Singular, Astelin and Flonase to combat my allergies or at least to make them less harsh.

Prior to beginning the regiment, I was given amoxicyllin and Guaifex to clear up a sinus infection, which I concluded the previous Sunday.

I took the singular only on Thursday morning (I did not take the flonase or astelin).

I will never take it again!! It was absolutely horrible. I woke up for work @ 6 am, took the 10mg pill @ 6:30 am and 2 hours later became lethargic with body aches and severe indigestion. I also came down with what felt like a migrane headache.

I dozed off @ my desk throughout the day and just wanted to go back to sleep. It was terrible and my head pounded like I was hit with an anvil.

I threw out the remainder of the pills ($48 dollars later!!!). I have never had such an adverse reaction to anything and I have no other explanation as to why this occured other than the Singulair.

I am now just beginning to feel better (It is now Sunday 03/04/07).

Wow..thanks for this web site! I'm taking 50mg of Toprol a day. I've gained 75 pounds...while on a diet! I have NEVER been this fat in my life. I've had problems with dizziness, tiredness, and trouble sleeping. I called the pharmacy and was told these are very rare problems. He said he would'nt blame the weight gain on Toprol. As far as wakeing up around 2am and not being able to go back to sleep, he said to take it in the morning and not at night. He said "if a person gets a hang nail, they have to list it as a possible side effect".
As I read the problems on this site, I see I'm not alone. What should I do? Can I quit taking this drug and how?

My 7 mth old daughter was given Onicef for her double ear infection. Several days into the medication we noticed her stools being an orange/red color and was worried that there was blood in her stool. My husband and I were not aware of this side effect. She has also started waking up several times during the night crying out and will not go back to sleep. This is very unusual for her since we can put her down at 9:30 and she will sleep until 6:00 the next morning. I am glad to know that we are not the only ones experiencing these problems. I wish we would have know sooner.

I started taking Lisinopril 5/31/2006. I started coughing in June. At first I did not think anything of it, since every summer at the height of allergy season, I always have a coughing spell for 4-6 weeks. But this time, it did not go away and seemed a lot worse. I did take a cough medicine (codiclear DH syrup). This is the only cough syrup that I have found that has ever helped any cough I have ever had. It did help slightly, but usually only to help me get over my coughing a little easier. When I coughed, I had what you would call coughing spells. When I coughed, it would only last for about 2-3 minutes. I would cough until I could get a little bit of phlem up and then only after that, would it start to subside. I would have these spells about every hour or so. I coughed to the point of throwing up and like others, it got worse at night where I would wake up every 1 - 1 1/2 hours coughing, sometime waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep at all. The one thing that seemed to help a little was water. I always had to keep water with me 24/7. I would drink about 16 oz. every hour. It sound like a lot, but it was necessary just to survive the coughing. This continued for about 4 months when my doctor thought I had Reflux and prescribed a reflux medication. This really did not help at all. She then prescribed another reflux med and said if this did not help, I would have to have a micro-oscopy (sp?), where they put a microscope down your throat. I still at this point thought it was still allergies, so I went to my allergy specialist that said it was not allergies and he thought it was a sinus infection even though I had no symptoms. He prescribed an expensive antibiotic, which did not help, then ordered a CAT scan which showed my sinuses crystal clear. After 6 months of coughing, throwing up and not sleeping, I decided to go online to see if one of my meds was keeping me up at night. To my surprise I came across information that Lisinopril causes persistant dry cough. I immediately went off after consulting my pharmacist, since it was a holiday weekend and on Tuesday called my dr. to let her know what I found out. She prescribed another bp med. It has been 2 weeks since I have been off Lisinopril and I am just now starting to see an improvement. My coughing is about 50% better. About 2 weeks ago I also asked my doctor to prescribe a coughing pill that I had been prescribed before. It is Tessalon, or the generic Bensonatate. For the first time in 6 1/2 months, I finally slept most of the night without coughing and only woke up once or twice to go to the bathroom. I also took my cough syrup to at night. I just saw my doctor today and she also precribed a steroid inhaler to help calm things down. Even though the lisinopril is out of your system after 48 hours, depending on how long you have been coughing, it may take a while for things to calm down because everything is irritated from coughing for so long. I hope this has helped, because I know how hard it is to find information that might help when things seem hopeless. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or need some advice or support.

My 12 month old granddaughter was given Ominicef for an ear infection. For two nights in a row she would wake up in the middle of the night crying, and unable to go back to sleep. Her playful attitude change to crankiness. She threw her toys, had crying fits and developed a diaper rash. A couple of days later I noticed blotches on her face which cleared up when the Omnicef was stopped. The Omnicef did not clear her ear infection. A week after taking the Ominicef she began wheezing and had difficult breathing. She was diagnosed with asthma, which I am now wondering could possibly have been brought on by the Omnicef?

Hello.

I am 26 years old with no health issues at all. Wanted to quit smoking, Dr. prescribed me bupropion/Wellbutron SR 150 mg.
I was instructed to take 1 pill a day for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I set my quit date and then take 2 pills a day. (300mg)
For the first 2 weeks...I really didnt feel like myself. Felt like I can snap at one moment and then calm the next moment. ok, not such a big deal.

During week 3 I quit smoking and increased the dosage to 2 pills a day as instructed. I quit on Saturday, July 16th 2006. On Tuesday i started off with my regionals itching like crazy! I wasnt sure why this was happeneing so i put some anti itch cream and helped some what. I would just keep breaking out with the same bad itch anyway. Then...Wednesday, July 19th I woke up 2:00 AM with real bad chest pains and I was itching all over the place. From my head, neck, arms to my back and front of my body and basically had rashes all over the place.
They would disappear from one spot and appear in a different spot. I then started researching all over the internet about te side effects and I did find a ton of people expereincing the same things. From 2 AM i couldnt go back to sleep because of the pain in my chest and the HORRIBLE ITCHING and rashes.
I went ot the ER around 10:00 AM and stood there till about 5:30 PM. When I was in the ER i started breaking out even worse. My right eye was closing shut and my right hand became so itchy and swollen it looked like i broke my hand.
They quickly gave me a shot of Benadryl and some steroid with it and after about 30-60 minutes... the swelling started going away. They didnt find any realtionship from the Wellbutrin and my chest pain and the itchingness which i didnt understand.

Anyway, i still have some rashes breaking out...I have been using Benadryl which will control it a little bit but then I switched over to Claritin because i couldnt stand feeling like a walking Zombie from the Benadryl.

I am still researching and waiting for my Dr to come back to figure out how I can get rid of the itchy rash breakouts. I also feel just mild pain in my chest about once or twice a day for about 10 minutes.

If anyone knows anything that can help me...I would appreciate it.

thanks.

I took one 750mg Levaquin for a sinus infection at 8pm after dinner. First dose. I woke up at 3am & could not go back to sleep. I never have problems sleeping & can usually sleep through the worst thunderstorms. I am not taking any more of the medication. I guess thats a $25 wasted prescription. Time to call the doc to get something else.

I started Topamax at 25mg at night for 2weeks and just moved up to 50mg at night. My husband kicks me out of bed every night saying I kick my legs. I don't even realize I am doing this. Them when I try to go back to sleep, my legs feel like I have to tense them up to relax in a constant cyle. I am also on Effexor 225mg and Lunest 2mg, which seems to not work anymore since I went up on the topamax dose.

I went to the doctor a year ago for anxiety and ended up with high blood pressure????? I have been on Toprol for 8 months now and my hair is thinning on top. I have very thick hair and this is not normal at all for me. I am very very tired all the time. Hard for me to get going and when I do I want to go back to sleep. I get heart palpitations. I am also on an anxiety pill. I tried to get off the anxiety pill and I could not for fear of having attacks again. Also, I don't think I understood how to start taking the medications. At the that time my grandmother passed away, my bosses husband pased away and I was worried about my daughter. I want so bad to get off the 2 medications I am on because I have not been the same ever since. I wanted to get off the Toprol but the doctor wanted me to stay on it. I WANT MY LIFE BACK.
