I have been on BC for several years now. I tired Depo, I tried several types of pills and about 6 months ago switched doctors and she put me on RAVINE. I have not had any problems until now. I enjoyed the fact that my periods are much lighter and shorter, but now all of a sudden last night I took my pill like usual. I lied down in bed to go to sleep and felt extremely nausead. I'm not sure if it is just the pills or if I might be pg, which if I am means the pill didn't work like I hoped it would. I know BC pills aren't 100% effective, So I don't know what to think about this problem, afraid to talk to my husband about it cause I don't know what he'll say cause we just got married when I started this pill. I have noticed I do get angry a lot or just want to cry a lot too. I Just don't know what to do about my issues. Anyone know what to do?

All I can say is thank you ladies for posting all of this. I was on Nuva ring for almost 2 years. my boyfriend complained I was getting worse and worse in terms of my anger and mood swings. He called me a monster. Then days after my 20th birthday I experienced lots of itchiness and pain after sex so I thought it was a yeast infection. When I did not respond to over the counter meds I went to the hospital to get testing for STDS. When all the test came back negative I went back to my regular doctor two weeks later. Again, I was tested and a month later tested again. No one could figure out why I was having burning and itchiness with no other symptoms and all my STD test negative. Finally I gave up the ring and have been symptom free now for nearly 6 months. To this day the situation plagued me because the doctor swore I couldn't experience this from the Nuva ring. I spent a whole summer in pain because of this. Now I am birth control free but my boyfriend of three years and I would love to add to our family.

I was not feeling well for about 4 days, I went to see my family doctor and was told it was upper respiratory infection. He gave me a script for avelox. I took one of the medication around 7:00. A short time after i felt real light headed, I kept going to lay down suddenly I looked in the mirror and my pupils were big as my eyes, my heart was pounding so hard then all of the sudden it would just feel like it has stoped. I was experiencing lots of crazy thoughts throughout the night. I could not go to sleep every time I would dose off I would have a horrible thought run through my mind. I honestly thought I would not wake up to see my children or husband again. This was the most horrible experience I have ever had to deal with. I will never take this medication again.

I do not know how long I am taking Vytorin, maybe a year or so. The doctors called me and whooped it up ( I thought it was a serious issue) but they were just so excited that my cholesterol levels and other levels went down by more than one hundred points. I am now investigating sleep maintenance i.e. I go to sleep and wake up many times during the night and then go back again. This never happened before. It is like I have a newborn baby. Besides that I am tired all the time and later in the day I want to nap, i.e. I feel bone tired and it is more like I am sick. I took this all into the idea of aging but I am beginning to look into my drugs that I am taking. Just read that Zocor has effect on sleep and Vytorin has Zocor in it.

Up until today I thought I was seriously going crazy. I have been taking Yasmin for about 2 years but I took a break from it for about 3 months. I just started taking it again in September and it has been going really downhill from there. Since I began taking it again my moods have gone out of control, nauseous, NO sex drive( and when my fiance would want to I would tell him to leave and that all I wanted to do was go to sleep), cramping, bloating.. etc..I have been doing poorly in school because I had been feeling depressed with the relationship between my boyfriend and i. My boyfriend encouraged me to medically smoke marijuana when I had pain from cramps and it has surely helped me. I know that I could choose to continue to feel like crap all the time or to figure out what is wrong with me. Finally I got online and wanted to see what everyone else was feeling while being on Yasmin. I had every effect that every other upset woman had. Finally I know what it is... YASMIN. I will stop taking Yasmin once this month is over. Thank god

I have been taken Cephalexin for 4 days now, 500mg my pill is red. My side affects are loose bowels, stomach boiling like it maybe upset, and a very bad case of the burps .Although it is hot air that come up. It leaves a very nasty taste in the mouth and almost makes me want to vomit. I also feel as though I could go to sleep every time I sit down .

I've been on Biaxin for bronchitis for four days now, following a trip to the ER for breathing problems. I thought it was allergies. The first two days weren't too bad except for the extreme thirst and not being able to sleep (and the gas). If I happened to go to sleep I would have weird dreams and wake up again. I don't know if was the Biaxin or the hydrocodone cough syrup. With the third day, I couldn't think straight and I couldn't remember words. Could be lack of sleep, I guess. Conversations were difficult. I felt spacey. At the same time, I felt like I was on fast-forward: hurry up, hurry up, gotta go, gotta go, gotta get it done, faster, faster! This is the fourth day. I'm still on fast-forward and still dizzy and spacey. My blood pressure is up and my heart rate is down. My pulse is 55. It's time for another dose, but I'm not taking it. In fact, I'm going off all my meds except the blood pressure pills in case it's a drug interaction that's not mentioned. I'll call my own doctor in the morning and talk to him. I trust him more than the anonymous ER doc.

I had Mirena placed approximately a year ago, after my 3rd child as a temporary birth control sinc i was on a waiting list for tubal ligation. I knew something was gonna go wrong with this thing because from the beginning it was not "cooperating" My doctor was out that day and had another Doctor who was filling in for her place the Mirena, that thing just kept popping off and would not stay put. After 3 painful attempt she stated "it is now in, but the thread is too long so she went in and cut it more... oh now it's too short, but it is in place". I asked if it was in place and would it keep popping off since she was having problem placing it in....I was told no.... just check for the string constantly... After 3-4 months of cramping, abnormal bleeding, and spoting everyday, and not being able to feel that string, i figured it was all normal, and is that where the crabiness was coming from? After a year of placement, I went to my OB and she could not find the string... I thought it was just me, but just to make sure she called another doctor to check, they did ultrasound, and finally x-ray.... well they found it somewhere inside me, i don't exactly know where it is located, maybe inside my uterus? I still have to discuss these info with my doctor on wednesday to talk about my surgery... yes surgery, now i have to go thru surgery..... to remove the mirena that wandered off inside me, UGHhhhhh. I hate this mirena, had i known i would have to go thru this i would have just settled for the pill....... Hopefully after it is removed, the cramping would go away, spotting and abnormal bleeding, and i could go back to being a mom to my children instead of momster... and maybe i can now go to sleep on time And oh no more surgery again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

On October 5th 2007 I experienced auditory hallucinations but their different than the others. I hear my thoughts directly outside of my head and they repeat the thought continuously until another thought happens. Sometimes their are thoughts that I have previously thought of and they won't go away. It starts from the moment I wake up in the morning until I go to sleep in the evening. Sometimes they sing like a choir and sometimes they talk my thoughts. Children's, women, men, and one old man. Sometimes it's a mechanical voice. I started taking Lamicatal in August. I started with 25 mg. for two weeks. Then I increased it to 50mg for two weeks. Then I increased it to 75 mg for two weeks. Then I increased it to 100mg for two weeks. Then I increased it to 125mg and I took this for one week and that's when these auditory hallucinations got worse. Now I only take 50mg and the auditory hallucinations will not go away yet. Before I started taking Lamictal I was on Cymbalta 20mg. I needed to stop taking this medication as that it caused abdominal pains, severe headaches, nausea, I started hearing other peoples thoughts and conversations. I was only Cymbalta for one year. I never was able to hear peoples thoughts before taking Cymbalta and I never heard hallucinations before taking Lamictal. Years ago I was taking Paxil 20mg and this medication increased the abstract visual dreaming and the zoning out. The reason I started taking Lamicatal was that in the evening while I was sleeping I would sometimes get startled in the middle of the night with abstract visual dreaming and it hurt my head. Also I was zoning out occasionally during the day. Kind of like daydreaming but no visual dreams. Lamicatal did stop this but this side effect is driving me insane.

I have been taking lisinopril now for about a year. Previously I was on a diuretic. My doctor says I have to take BP meds for the rest of my life. The pains in my body are getting so bad I can hardly function. They began between the shoulder blades. Now it is pressure in my left ear, pain down my neck to shoulder, down left arm, and the left side of my body seems to go to sleep. Even my hip complains. I'm in the process of moving and as soon as I get to my new location I'm off this stuff. ronni9@netzero.net

IF YOUR TAKING THIS GET OFF NOW!!! I have tried lots of pills and this by far was the worst! I have had 6 kids and even post pardom depression was nothing compared to the effects this had on me! I noticed just after 2 weeks of taking YAZ I stared having mood swings not just little ones just crying all the time..I would be fine one second then just blow up on everyone around me! While working out my toes would go to sleep and it was so painful! I contemplated suicide! This is how bad it was. I called my doctor the nurse switched me to Yasmin..*which of course she said was different but it wasn't* After taking Yasmin for 2 more weeks I was wanting to die everyday! I called my doctor at 6am he actually answered! He said that both pills were the same. I am now on the old school Ortho and I'm doing awesome! This pill should be taken off the shelves! I actually got this pill free from my doctor! The drug reps must get paid alot to tell doctors that this is good for you! It's BS ladies! Please I'm begging you don't try this pill nor give them to your children! I Beg you! email me if you have any questions I've been doing alot of research and talking to doctors in my area to stop giving these out!
Good Luck

my 5 yr old has been on singulair for 2 months and her behavior has changed dramatically. She is moody, hyperactive and aggressive. Her teachers have been complaining about her behavior and last year she was their star pupil. She has always been a relatively well behaved and focused child. I think her behavior is a side effect of the singulair.

I HAVE CURRENTLY BEEN ON LISINOPRIL FOR A MONTH (STARTED 0N 8/9/07) AND I'AM FINDING OUT THAT FATIGUE SEEMS TO BE THE NUMBER ONE FACTOR, FOLLOWING WITH THE DRY HACKING COUGH AS SOON AS I LAY DOWN AT NIGHT TO GO TO SLEEP THE COUGHING STARTS, AND THE COUGH SEEMS TO SHOW ITSELF DURING THE DAY WHEN I GET TOO WARM OR TALK TOO MUCH AND MY MOUTH AND THROAT BECOME TOO DRY. I BASICALLY FEEL LIKE A DEFLATED BALLOON AND NO MATTER IF I TRY TO TAKE A CAT NAP, I FEEL LIKE I STILL CAN'T FUNCTION NORMALLY. TLA-ANAHEIM, CA

I started taking Nuvaring last week and I'm 5 days in to it, yesterday I started feeling very neurotic...and fearful... teary and tired. The night before i hadn't slept well, so thats what I put it down to... had a lot going through my mind, my thoughts were racing...i waited until really late / early hours this morning to go to sleep so that i would sleep properly.. and i did... i read some of the symptoms last night before going to bed on this site because of the way I was feeling, I wanted a reason to be feeling the way i did....the comments scared me a little bit... I do have a tendancy to get slightly depressed and think too much... and do have a few reasons to be feeling a bit down at the minute so extra help in this department is definitely not needed.... but these feelings were way too extreme to be normal....so I was kind if glad to be able to put it down to something...anyway today i have an overwhelming tiredness. it hit me when i walked in the door this afternoon after popping out of the house for an hour and i literally lay straight down on the couch and slept for over an hour.... i haven't had a day nap for years...i usually couldn't if i wanted to. i could have then gone straight to bed and slept for hours.. but have managed to pull myself out of it....my vision was also really blurry whnen i woke up and couldn't see properly... i have had a few pains to the right of my chest over the last few days and twitches in my left arm... but i may have only noticed these due to reading about other peoples symptoms... i don't really want to take it out early.. but if i carry on feeling this tired during the week then I might... and will also see how my feelings go...i haven't taken the pill for years so it might be just my body's way of reacting to new hormones....we'll see.

I took yasmin for a year and a half. Loved it until now. I am 27 and 5'4. Over the last year I have had every test done on me because my weight dropped down to 95lbs, I get really bad chest pains that make me feel like I am having a heart attack,I am really shaky, my hands and feet go to sleep, I cannot concentrate (which is bad since I am a student), having trouble sleeping, extreme fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, and the list just goes on and on. Well, the docs couldn't find anything and so when I finished my pack of yasmin last tuesday, I didn't start a new pack. I am pleased to tell you all that this week I have more energy (i also have a husband, a 9 year old, and help run our business), no chest pains, and I have gained weight. I am going to talk to my Doc about a different form of BC. Hope you all get back to feeling normal. and for those you are having great luck with it, Congrats!!!!!!! i Hope I can find one too.

I took this medication seven years ago. After a couple of days I broke out into hives. When the initial Hives went away I kept itching. Then, the itching began to spread all over my body. I have been turned away by many doctors who wished me luck and said they were sorry but they couldn't help me. Since then, I have become a science project for doctors. I have taken a number of medicines to calm me down and an assortment of creams and lotions. One spray that takes the itchy hives away for awhile is CLOBEX. It's very expensive. It costs me $250 a month (out of pocket). The only medicine that relieves the condition for about a week is prednisolone (another drug that's not so great for you). I now take that once a month for one week’s relief. Each night, I have to scold myself in the shower to relieve the itching for a few hours so I can go to sleep. I'm currently at a new Dermatology Clinic. Guess what they prescribed for me? CEPHALEXIN, the drug that caused the poor quality of my life I now have. Doesn't anyone listen to the patient? The only best medical friend I have is my Primary Care Physician who has greatly supported me all these years. I pray that someone may read this and I have an answer me.
If you have not yet taken CEPHALEXIN, think about it long and hard. It's not for everyone and MAY not be for ANYONE. If you've read this far in my note, I consider you a new friend.

Someone please help!!
Still Itching in New Jersey.

I had a stye/ staff infection in my right eye. It was swollen and severely hurting me. Well, my doctor put me on sulfameth and a eyedrop antibiotic. I don't mind taking the eye drops, but these pills are making me feel horrible. I am on 1 pill twice daily for 10 days. I asked the doctor and the pharmacist if this stuff causes constipation and they both said no. Well, I haven't been able to use the bathroom well since I started it. My muscles twitch, my eyes are sensitive to the sunlight, I can't go to sleep easily, I've been itching up a storm, and I have headaches. I want to just stop the medication but if I do then I will never get rid of this infection in my eye. I figured I'd stop the meds in the middle of the week. I hate feeling bloated and constipated. Has anyone else had the constipation effect?

Surprisingly i have been ok on this pill. i was on yasmin, then switched to yaz (which was the worst pill ever! i had my period for over 3 weeks on that pill). I've just started on Femcon, and it immediately stopped my breakthrough bleeding. the only side affect i think im experiencing is the headaches! i've been really stressed lately so i dont know if it has to do with that or the pill. also i have been REALLY tired a lot. i seem to wake up, do something then want to crawl back to bed for a few hours. anyone else get tired on this pill? other than that, the pill is actually working. now if we could just fix these headaches...

My mother is ninety-one and is on Toprol-XL and has been for almost two years now. She started having some vivid dreams about one of her boys running away (her children have been out of the house for 25 years now) and not coming home. We thought it was the beginning of Alzheimer's and are starting her on Aricept. Could any body help me with this. She has always been very healthy until her heart attack two years ago and has never liked to take medication. She keeps asking if it could be the medicine, but the doctors say," No, these medicines are good for you!"

My 2 year old daughter was recently prescribed this medication. She has been having nightmares every night & I give it to her in the morning after breakfast. She will wake up screaming her head off & it often takes over an hour to get her calmed down enough to go back to sleep. But when she does go to sleep, she's out cold for several hours. She's also started hitting & being very violent. At first I thought it was because she couldn't tell us what she wanted, but its been getting worse & worse everyday that she takes Singulair. I guess, we will switch back to Zyrtec for her allergies.

I'm 31 and a recovered cancer patient (in remission since 2001). I've been trough it all. Surgery, chemo, radiation, BMT's, you name it. I currently suffer from three separate sleep disorders, as well as hypothyroidism. As you can imagine, I've grown to become very in tune with my body. And, having gone through everything I have over the years, and having taken all kinds of medications, I have never experienced such dissatisfaction and such a high level of negative side-effects as I have with Toprol XL.

My primary care doctor, who is also a cardiologist, put me on Toprol XL to treat an elevated heart rate -- as a result of all my past health issues, my auto-regulatory system is, as he puts is, “just messed-up now.” He started me on 50 mg a day. Immediately, I experienced trouble breathing: I woke one night and felt as though I was drowning. Over the course of about 8 months, he's lowered my dose to 12.5 mg a day. And, for a while, that seemed to be OK. But, recently, the trouble breathing has returned.

I'm at a point now where I'm afraid to go to sleep -- the moment I lie down, I find myself gasping for air. All day long, I have a constant wheezing. I can't go up a flight of stairs without needing to sit down and catch my breath -- I feel as though I'm about to faint from loss of air. I spend most of my day with a sensation of being suffocated. I cough frequently, but it gives me no relief.

I have noticed other side effects. Notable is the weight gain. I've never in my life weighed more than 145 lbs. I’m 163 now. I was blaming the weight gain on the thyroid, but I'm on a fairly high dose of that medication, and I've yet to experience any loss of weight. I'm gaining, despite only eating one meal a day. I attribute this weight to the Toprol.

Also, I have been experiencing moments of extreme anxiety -- this is very unusual for me. I also want to say that never once during all my dealings with cancer did I ever experience depression, and that right there should give you an indication of what type of person I am. Yet, now, since being on the Toprol XL, I find I lack the energy and desire to do much of anything anymore.

My doctor seems very quick to dismiss my concerns, telling me, "you need to give this medication a chance." I think 8 months of my life is enough -- I have lost all patience with this medication, and I'm just about losing it with him, as well. I didn't survive cancer and all the other complications that came with it just to have my life brought to a total standstill by a single medication. This is so infuriating.

I'm making an appointment to speak with my doctor right away. If he continues to insist I stay on Toprol XL and ignore my concerns, I will tell him I no longer feel comfortable with having him as my primary care physician. I want my life back.

I had a series of racing heart events for a week and went to my doctor. She said it was probably stress and my heart was very strong. They stopped. I went for thyroid tests. My tests indicated I was well within the safety range. I ususally see a woman doctor who works with her husband, but this time I saw him. He said I was hypothryroid and if I did not take Armour, I would be at a cariologist's office. I got scared. I knew my numbers were good, but I caved. I started on 1/4 gram for a week and then to 1/2 for a week and then to 3/4. On my second night of 3/4 I was awakened 5 times with racing heart. I called my doctor and he told me stay on two. I questioned him as to whether this was appropriate for me and he said, DEFINITELY. I decided to withdraw. I cut back my meds. One night I woke up with a racing heart that gave me a nose bleed and I was very scared. Two nights later I woke up with a racing heart that scared me to death as it was going so incredibly fast that it shot down my left arm. I was afraid to go to sleep and started not being able to sleep. I final reached crisis and did not know what to do. I got in touch with my regular doctor who said I did not need the meds. This was corroborated by another doctor. I have not yet spoken to the doctor who misdiagnosed me and came close to causing a severe heart malfunction for me. I will not return to that doctor and will never even consider taking such drugs again.
I was clearly overdosed.

I took Lisinopril 10 mg for about 10 days. My doc had told me that 5% of those tested developed an itchy cough, and to stop if this happened to me. I stopped as soon as the cough developed. That was more than a week ago. I haven't been able to get a night's sleep since then. The cough is dry and hacking and continuous. Coughing can also come at any time during the day. Sometimes a coughing attack hits when I already have a cough drop in my mouth.

I feel just the same as I've felt when experiencing a sinus infection, with nighttime drainage and sinus headache.
When I called the doctor's office, I was advised to take an over-the-counter cough med. It hasn't helped. I am exhausted.

This seems to be a case of the "cure" being worse than the initial problem.
