I had my Mirena inserted 6 weeks after I had my son (14 months ago) at the suggestion of my o.b. (she was using one also).... had I known then what I know now, my post partum birth control decision would have gone in a totally different direction! Insertion was very painful! Sex with my husband was awkward at first, mainly because he could feel the strings (they are wires!!!) poking him during deep insertion... After several weeks of getting used to the mirena, the nightmares started in! Sleepless nights, tossing, turning, dreaming about my fears and insecurities, and waking up sore... feeling like I had been run over by a truck! Moodiness and quick tempered feelings also came with the little devil... wanting to kill my husband and children over the littlest things like not eating all their dinner or not picking up their laundry...stupid stuff? My husband kept asking me why I was so angry, mean and hurtful...these are not traits I usually possess! I had become a bundle of tired, bitchy nerves! Then I had a trip to the emergency room, thought to be an appendicitis at first.....but no! I have a golf ball cyst on my right ovary, compliments of the mirena!! Now I have to have monitoring of this cyst until it bursts or is so painful I cant take it anymore and have to have it removed!!! Needless to say, I booked an appointment a few weeks ago and and have my mirena removed three days ago... I know it is going to take a while before I am "normal" and heal myself from this awful cyst, but I cant wait to love myself, husband and children again...if you are thinking of getting this inserted in your body, think again!!! Your doctors will not tell you what these women have experienced and gone through!!! Don't be a part of a class action suit down the line, money can't replace your health and well being :(

sweats, fatigue, anxiety, major leg cramps, weight gain after getting of it! terrible sleep and insomnia! I am now using nuvaring...no trouble. any and everything seems to make my stomach swell after having used it...i also developed a golf ball sized cyst...and got gall bladder disease. major nausea for no apparent reason! I got off of it when i couldn't stand the idea of having another period after already have 5 in a 60day span. I am still not better after three months! Ugghhh! After being sick with gallbladder disease and these symptoms/side effects...I am feeling hopeless and terrible! Yasmin sucks! But it was taken in hopes of a clearer complexion...it's odd that it actually got worse.
God Bless all of the others who have and are going through what I am...

I have contacted an attorney in Delaware who is willing to pursue a possible class action suit. I explained my side effects from this drug and told him of the countless others that are suffering as well. He said if I was willing to do the "legwork" and gather up names of others who would like to join this suit, perhaps we could get a class action started. If anyone is interested please reply by contacting me at ***** Please be sure to type "Kenalog" as the subject and include your name, email address, and a description of your experience with Kenalog. I will than gather your responses and forward them to the attorney. He will than contact you individually, so please include a contact number. This will take some time. So please be patient, as you know these cases take time. I have spent 15 months trying to get some kind of help from various doctors, to no avail. Someone needs to step up and take responsibility.
Hope to hear from many of you. Thank You

My 11 year old niece has developed (fibroid?) cysts in her breasts, and they say one is the size of a golf ball. She and her sister had said they really didn't think they had had any side effects from the Gardasil, and of course, the doctors say there is no connection. However, she has always been healthy, and these have only developed AFTER the administration of Gardasil.
How many must be harmed before the FDA stands up to the greed of Pharmaceutical companies and all of their human experiments?

I had the shot twice. The first time my butt turned black and blue, and it lasted a while. I told my doctor about it when I went for the second shot. He told me that it was normal, and also about the dent and how it happens in some cases, but not all. I never noticed that I had one until last week. It is about the size of a golf ball, maybe a little bigger. I am so upset over this. I am just glad I am not alone in this situation. I am shocked at how many posts there are. I read somewhere where it is curable. They inject some kind of saline into the injection site. I am definitely going to ask about this, and I will NEVER get the shot again!! I'd rather take Allegra!! Good luck to you all :-)

Hello,
I have just found out about this and have been on cipro and levaquin and guess what. 2 weeks ago i was jumping in a pool and the tendon in my arch let loose. I went to the orthopedic doctor and he sent me for MRI then put me in a boot cast. It felt like i stood on a golf ball and it still hurts like hell. I have problems walking on it still. My doctor stated that i will most likely be flat foooted now in the foot that the tendon let loose. then i seen this on the news. Damn i have never had problems in my foot. He called planter facititus.

I received my first Gardasil shot on May 5, 2008 and about two days later I began to notice I was losing a lot of hair. I didn't fret because I had just gotten done taking finals and had been stressed to the max. I figured it was just my body responding to the stress. I have a lot of hair so it didn't phase me one bit. A week progressed and I would lose gobs of hair when I took out my hair band, brushed my hair, washed my hair, dried my hair. Now May 17, 2008, nearly 2 weeks later, my hair is half of what it used to be. I am freaking out. When I say I have lost alot of hair, I mean I can ball up the amount that comes out after a typical shower and it is about the size of a golf ball. I have not introduced anything new in my diet, nothing has changed, and I am not stressed. I am convinced this is due to Gardasil. Has anyone else experienced hair loss? If so, for how long? I am really scared.

I had the shot in September 07. I agree that it is scary to read all these posts. about two months ago I noticed a small "dent" on my lower back. I though little of it, thought it was just a dimple from exercising. after months it has persisted and when you push it it feels like there is just nothing there. I googled it and was both relieved and newly concerned to find this. I have an appointment with the people who gave me the shot, but realize there is little they can do, at least they will know. I feel helpless and am scared it will continue to grow...just don't know what to do.

I first started to take Flowmax about three years ago and took it for about a year. I had most of the symptoms mentioned but also had swelling of one of my lymph nodes in the neck, also a nodule appeared next to one of my testicles (which I presume was another lymph node as it has now disappeared) , severe sore throat which had me off work for nearly a month. Together with all the other symptoms I thought I was on my way out! - Then I had reason to go away for a long weekend and forgot to take the Flowmax with me and most of the Symptoms disappeared!! It was only at this stage that I actually looked at the side affects of the drug on the packaging did I realize what I had put myself through. Never again will I take for granted that medicine "will do me good" I harsh lesson. My neck gland is still the size of a golf ball, and now through ultrasound they have found nodules in my thyroid gland. Is this all part of the same thing I ask myself? (ps I did not get the painful erection which was more or less the only one I did not get)

When I stumbled onto this site I felt so relieved. Until then, I had thought I was the only one with this "dent" problem. I hadn't been completely sure that it was caused by the shot last year, but that was my only incident with my left butt cheek that I could think of. When I called my doctor's office and asked them the name of the shot they had given to me last year, they told me Kenalog. They had no real response to my questions about why I was never told about the possible side effects. My doctor just said, "Well, it's never happened in my office before".
When I went to my doctor last May, I had unexplained hives. She told me that they were going to give me a steroid shot to quickly take care of the problem. As I was about to leave the country, I thought it sounded like a good idea. Initially I did not notice anything amiss. Then, a few months later, I noticed a small dimple where none had been before. I mentioned it to my husband, but neither of us thought too much about it. At the same time of the dimple, I noticed that my periods were getting irregular and my body seemed to act like it was going into menopause (i.e. extreme dryness, hair loss, etc). I went to my gynocologist who agreed that my body was acting strangely, but could not identify a reason. We decided that maybe it was a hormone problem and I went off of the pill for three months. I did not mention the dimple to this doctor because I never would have thought it was related. In the months after this visit, I noticed that the dimple had sunk into a full blown dent! You could put a golf ball into it.
It was only this month, after my husband noticed that the dent looked deeper, that I started to really worry if I had some flesh eating disease. I started looking things up on the internet and slowly but surely, I found this site and all the answers I needed.
My doctor has documented my comments (while offering no encouragement about the flesh ever growing back) and I guess I will go on being lop-sided.

I have been receiving Kenalog injections in my deltoid for allergies from my m.d. each fall for the past 4 years with no incident. Six weeks ago, Nov. 19 2007 I went in for the same symptoms and received the same injection of Kenalog in my deltoid once again. This time it seemed to be unusually painful but I thought it was just poor placement of the needle and did not think much of it. Now after six weeks I have developed a depression/ indentation in my shoulder at the site of injection that has grown to the size of a golf ball and is lumpy and soft even when I flex the muscle. It also has discoloration with splotches on the skin. It still aches and is getting more painful. After visiting my doc. today he seems concerned and claims he has no idea what it is and is sending me to the labs for more testing. In the mean time this is very strange and costly. After finding this web page it makes me wonder how could he have no clue as to this side effect? I am a otherwise healthy 30 year old male, except now I have a very weird looking shoulder.

my story sounds eerily similar to all of yours -- i received a kenalog injection (40mg) in my right arm (below the deltoid) last may 2007, and two months later the bruised dent was the size of a quarter. now (october 2007) the dent is approximately the size of a golf ball with bruising still visible. i am a new graduate student and my new classmates/friends have asked whether my "dent" is a gunshot wound, a skin graft, you name it. my GP simply denies any knowledge of kenalog's side effects and completely dismisses any suggestion that my erratic periods (i'm having one every other week) could be due to "just one injection." one last side effect -- i have back, chest, and neck acne for the first time in my life. not sure if that is connected. again, my story isn't much different from all of yours, but i felt compelled to share it to make the number of similar cases known...

I took Doxycyline Hyclate for one week. After the fifith day, I woke up feeling like a golf ball was stuck in my throat. It progressively got worse over the next few days. When I swallowed, I had this sharp pain in my upper back. It got to the point where I could hardly stand the pain. I went to the doctor and they put a scope down my throat after a battery of other tests. The doc said I had signifigant changes in my esophagus due to the severe reflux that was caused from taking the Doxycycline. I am now on meds to help with the esophagitis I now have.

I've been taking Doxy for a week now (100mg 2x daily) for epididomytis. The second day of taking the med I woke up with terrible heartburn. I thought that the med burned a hole in my lower esophagus from from taking the med late the night before. I have had nausia once for a few hours, though the worst side-effect is the terrible chest pain as I swallow or take deep breaths. It feels like I am swallowing a golf ball and it is stuck about 3/4 of the way down. Occasionally it feels like it is trying to come back up. I too have had some excess gas. I hope this stuff really works without causing long term side effects.

I received a Kenalog injection in December '06 to provide relief from an allergic reaction. My doctor did NOT inform me of any possible side effects other than drowsiness. Two months later a small dipple formed where the shot was given. I had no idea what it was and just assumed it was a part of getting older (I'm 30). When it began to get deeper, I became extremely worried. It has now been 6 months and the dimple has turned into a very large indentation. I still did not put two and two together and did not think it could have been caused by the steroid injuection. I visited my doctor, the same one who administered the shot in December, to find out what this could possibly be. He said he had no idea!! And even suggested it could be cancer!!!! I came home upset, obviously, thinking I was very sick, possibly even dying!! My sister did some research and found this site, and I am so relieved. But now I am angry at my doctor for not warning me of this possible side effect at the time of the shot AND then diagnosing it as a possible cancer!!! So now I am left with this deformity on my butt and a profound feeling of helplessness. Someone please tell me actions you have taken that have worked, both legally and physically. Will this go away?!?

THe side effects that we are ''whining''about are caused by Kenalog nothing else.Have you not noticed a pattern in the postings or read the drug warnings? Most of us have suffered permanent disfigurments or terrible irregular bleeding, along with migrains, cramps, mood swings, hair loss,insomnia,ect...I don't know about you but I care about my body and I don't welcome a golf ball sized hole in my hip nor do I welcome flooding, painful periods with blood clots as big as walnuts ,that last 2 to 3 weeks a month. Most of us were not warned about these side effects from the people trying to ''help us''.It appears that these side effecs are common and the doctors failed to give us the choice if we wanted to take the risks.Every woman should have the right to know tha her menstural cycle could be effected or that she may get a disfigurement.Tha alone would have been enough for me not to get aKenalog injection.I only had one injection, how many have you had?I am sure that eventually you will be posting an apology to all of us whiners.Have you had an x-ray yet?

I just returned from the ER. I am 9 months off Yasmin and am having SEVERE headaches, vision disturbances (feels like I am wearing someone else's glasses), and a feeling like I have a golf ball stuck in my throat. After an episode today of sinus problems, I took Benedryl, which is what ultimately landed me at the ER from dizziness, faintness, heart racing/pounding, and all around panic. My legs are also still slightly swollen and I have spots in my vision. The bad news (maybe could be taken as good news) everyone just said it was all in my head and offered me counciling. With no one else around to believe how horrible the Yasmin is, this website has offered great comfort and hope to me.

There is hope for those of you with an indentation! I had an injection for severe excema, I was literally scratching my eyes out. I received a Kenalog Injection in Oct/Nov, by January I had a golf-ball sized indentation on my right bum cheek. I was devastated! It was quite noticeable, even in clothing, as I am quite petite. I was given little hope from my dermatologist, he had only seen it twice before, one corrected itself, the other still had a dent. After a year I guess, I decided to take experiment, I increased my intake of Omega Fatty Acids, and Protein. And since it was it is fat that has wasted, I tried not to excercise my glutes. Within only a couple of months I noticed a huge difference.
I don't know if it was diet, or just the waiting it out, but my dent is almost completely gone. If you've had this same reaction, try not to stress out there .... there is hope!

I have two children who were both prescribed Omnicef for bronchitis/sinus infections. My four year old began complaining within hours of severe stomache cramping and vomited followed the next morning by HUGE(golf ball and larger) hives all over her body(worse on her hands and feet) We stopped it immediately and swithched antibiotics. My 2 year old had already been on for a few days and had become very cranky, pacing back and forth, crying, mean, hitting, and repeating himself over and over. He was unable to sleep at night and developed what the doctor called excema mostly on his face and scalp. He completed the med yesteday and today broke out in full body hives (not as big as my daughters but very itchy and more severe around his eyes, hands and bottom. I was amazed that these side effect are supposedly not common but my two children who have both been on several different antibiotics for ear infections have never had any reaction. No more Omnicef at my house!!!!!

I have received three injections of kenalog over the last two years to control my eczema. My eczema has greatly improved however I did notice a couple of troubling side effects. I too have experienced the indentations where I received the injections. I received the three shots in my right buttock and now it looks like a golf ball. I thought I could ignore it, however I am starting to notice it when I wear tighter pants. I am not sure if it will go away or not.
In regards to my menstrual cycle I actually noticed a positive reaction in that it is much less painful. I have been plagued with extremely painful cramps for all of my life and since I have received the injections it has been much more bearable. I am assuming it is because of the anti-inflammatory properies of steriods. I did however, notice more clotting. And the first time I received the shot, I got my period for two weeks straight.
I also noticed temporary weight gain which took a couple of months to control.
The other more troubling side efffect was recurrent bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections. I couldn't understand why I kept suffering from them until I asked my doctor and she said that steroids lower resistance to yeast infections, bacterial infections and viral infections.
Although my eczema is much improved I think this will be my last injection because the side effects are becoming too irritating and I am concerned about the long term effects on my bone health.

I had a Kenalog shot for allergy symptoms in the Spring 2005. I'm now having the heaviest period I've ever had. I'm 42 years old & on birth control. I'm up at night every one to two hours, bleeding heavily & clotting. Many of the clots are golf-ball sized. I was so scared about how much I was bleeding that I went to the Dr. & was told it was the Kenalog shot. I wish that I had been told about this side effect. I start teaching in 2 weeks and can not work with this much bleeding. What can I do?

I was diagnosed with seven fibroids, with some the size of a golf ball. My doctor was talking about a hysterectomy, I'm 52, but I opted instead for Lupron. Before I couldn't bend over and had a lot of pain in my stomach. I am going on my third shot, and yes, I have gained weight. And I am tired a lot, but these small side effects are nothing compared to the pain i was in before. I am also taking a give back hormone pill that helps with the bone loss and mood swings. I have not had any of the other problems that others seems to have. I am hoping this will shrink them so no surgery is necessary.
