well, this has been an enlightening forum.. glad to know im not crazy. I started taking toprol xl about 1 1/2 months ago..and it's been DOWNHILL ever since. I went to the ER one day with a rapid heart beat and overall weird feeling, they say it was either a panic attack or dehydration. anyway, the first 4 days after that i took 25mg of metroprolol, and my first side effect was tingling and pain in my leg. Then, my Dr. prescribed 50mg to keep my BP and palpiations down. Since then, i've felt bad EVERY day. Tingling in legs, arms, face and lips. Fatigue. Consitpation and Gas. Nausea. CRAZY dreams. An overall bad/weird feeling. Weird heartbeat. Though, I have to say i havent had any weight gain. I told my Dr, his first idea was i was having panic attacks, i tried zanax for about 2 weeks, didn't really help. He insists what im feeling isnt from the toprol...(must be in my head?) I had blood work and and echocardiogram-everything came back normal. I guess he's all out of ideas so his next suggestion is for me to see an neurologist who i'll be seeing this week, if that doesn't work, he suggested a psychiatrist... That's not gonna happen. If it comes down to it i'll just have to ween myself off these crazy pills.. After reading all these posts, i'm convinced it's the toprol....

hi, i was put on advair 250-50 in sept. 05, it worked great!! after a few days, i was in so much pain, i could hardly move!! i told my doctor, he said it was not from the advair!! then i gained so much weight, went back to the doctor, he said why are you gaining so much weight??, i said its from the advair!!! hes like no its not, so i begged him to take me off it, he wouldnt, so he lowered it to 100-50, in feb -06, no change, i was miserble!! on march of 06 i stopped my self, the pain stopped!! i lost weight right away, i felt so much better!! i have had to use my inhaler 1 time since i stopped, i am breathing just fine, & i can clear my lungs on my own, i am not saying this is the best thing for everyone, just in my case, i took a chance, cause i didnt know what was gonna happen if i stopped suddenly, but everything was fine with me, even better than before!! but please if you decide to stop, ask your doctor first.DONT GAMBLE WITH YOUR HEALTH.

I just started taking this two days ago. Unlike many of you I am taking this for nerve damage in my leg instead of migraines. I have previously taken Neurontin and Lyrica and had to discontinue because I am apparently very sensitive to this kind of medication. I am only taking FIFTEEN mg (the pharmacy had to special order it for me) and only right before I go to bed, but I am OUT of it. I am very, very tired, nauseous, and just not all there. I have no attention span whatsoever (it just took me like, thirty seconds to think of the phrase 'attention span'). I just called the pharmacy to ask them if these side effects last, or disappear as your body gets used to the meds. They told me to give it a couple of weeks if I can. I'd like to give it a chance- but I'm supposed to increase to three times a day, and I don't think THAT'S gonna happen anytime soon.
