Hi everyone.
I was prescribed prednisone for a hand injury that the swelling would not go down. I took it for 4 weeks. In the end of the first week I started breaking out in a rash that itched like crazy. They were small bumps that had nothing in them and they itched so bad I scratched them raw in my sleep. I informed the doctor about the rash and he told me it was to late in the game to get any side effects. This medicine also caused me to become very irate from any little thing. It also made me to lose my job while under a workers comp doctors care. This was about 6 years ago and I still am battling the rashes. They come and go but when they are apparent they take a long time to go away. I used to heal very fast but now it takes forever for an injury to heal. I have had blood work done and even had my liver checked out. They say I am as healthy as a horse so to speak. The rashes have scarred me all over. The bumps would turn to sores that took about 6 months to heal and they hurt, burned and itched all the time. I tried everything to control the itch and pain. I finally mixed aspirin with alcohol and some lotion together and this helped enough to get a fairly good night sleep as I was becoming exhausted. I am learning to deal with it in time but I will never be the same. My thinking is far from my normal thinking.
I had a list of side effects from prednisone and it was four pages long and the very first one was, Instant Death! The only side effect I was told by the doctor was that I might become easily irritated. In my opinion I think all doctors should give you an option after he has presented you with ALL the side effects of a prescribed drug and let you be the judge if you should take it or not. I now have a different doctor and he has prednisone as a drug I can not take. This medicine might be good for some people but it can have life changing effects for those that can not take it.
I feel for anyone that has had bad effects from it and hope you get over it some day.

I was given a prescription for Trazodone four days ago beginning with a 150mg dose. I have a very long history of getting by on three to four hours of sleep and was constantly tired. That first dose really knocked me for a loop the next morning. When I first stood up after the alarm went off I was spacey, groggy, unsteady on my feet, joint pain in my knees and hips, and slight pain in the muscles of my legs. It was a full three hours before I felt somewhat better although I felt unsteady on my feet and when I walked, I walked as though I had a hangover. I decided to only take 75mg tab the second night. I slept twelve hours. When I awoke the above mentioned symptoms were still there but were much, much lest in intensity. The third night I took 50 mg. I slept nine hours and when I awoke the symptom were really minimal and felt quite normal after an hour or so.

I had the mirena put in in june after my third child. I did feel a bit dizzy when it was first put in but did not cramp at all. I was still spoting then from giving birth, so it just continued for about 3 more weeks the stopped altogether. I have not had a period since, woooooooohooooooooooo!!!!!!!! I don't feel bad about that at all. I did have a day when I woke up cramping and thought I was going to start but never did. My doctors nurse told me everything I needed to know about the mirena long before i had it put in. I actually made the appointment to discuss it with her. Everyone should have been smart enough to ask questions before it was done, not the day it is. You cant think straight when someone is getting ready to put a device in you. I have to say I love my mirena and would not trade it for a pill, a shot, or any other birth control method. Ladies know your gyn very well before trusting them. I think most of you just think it is your doctors fault. It is not it is yours for not researching it more. And come on what women is not moody a day in her life, not many. How many headaches did you get before the mirena? How were your sinuses before mirena? Probably the same. Some womens health simply changes after having a baby. I also advise against you removing these mirenas yourselves. It is not smart, you could get a bad infection from not being in a sterile environment.

I've been on Lamictal 200mg for a couple of months and let me tell you, I haven't had a f^@#!&g good night sleep since! I am a 33 y.o. male with Bipolar Disorder (hate that label) and I have a "slight" case of paranoia. The drug has allowed me to refrain from acting out on certain impulses, but not suicidal tendencies. OK... now I do have fully functioning parts (one in particular) which worked fine before this drug (you see where I'm going with this?). It SUCKS!!! Let's just say that there are certain things I'd rather not have happen prematurely (I am not laughing). I do happen to be great in that particular category, yet this strips me of any natural ability to fully indulge in such activities. Uuggghhhh... Give me my mojo back or just shoot me!

I took Toprol for 4 years. I gained 50+ pounds, had the worst dreams ever. They were so real, I would get out of the bed and put on my glasses to make sure I was seeing what I thought. Sometimes I would see actual performances. If I wake up and see a light, any light, even on the alarm clock, some figure would appear. I and my family thought I had lost my mind. I sweated like a maniac for no reason, you would think that I had just ran a marathon. My body ached, legs would be so heavy, especially upon waking. Sometimes I had to lay in bed longer because my legs were achy and too heavy to get up. I had brain fog, couldn't concentrate and my night vision was almost zero. I never felt like doing anything, the only thing I wanted to do was sleep. I never got a good night sleep, sometime I didnt sleep at all.
Being on Toprol was HELL!!!!!!!!! I am off now and I feel like a different person.

I cannot believe that all of these stories have such similarities. How can singulair not be the cause??? We have learned all this about singulair my husband and i feel just in the nick of time. Our seven year old son has been on singulair for about three years. Like many others, it seemed great for awhile and yes I think it does assist in controlling his asthma. But over the past year very subtly we have watched our happy go lucky son who was a tough kid --- turn to a crying all the time unhappy and negative child. He complains of stomach aches ALL the time. He's been t the ER twice for suspected appendicitis. He is always saying he does not get a good night sleep. In the past few months he has started with the anxiety -- afraid to go upstairs in the house alone, worrying about many many things a normal 7 year old should not be concerned with. He does not want to go out and play with his nine year old brother like he used to. Low energy, etc. Just yesterday morning my husband and I looked at each other and said...is he depressed? Later in the day a neighbor happened to mention the news about singulair. I was on line researching and came across this web site. I cannot believe what I am reading.
When my son was about 3 his beloved pulmonologist (who has since died) told me that singulair was not a good drug and he did not understand why so many doctors where prescribing it. He said he had brought this up at conferences, etc. I feel like this man is speaking to me from his grave after reading all this. Why did we put our son on this drug? His next pulmonologist put our son on it and the pediatrician also advise us using it. I always remembered what our original doc told us...but what do you do when you've got two respected opinions telling you the same thing and sick child you desperately want to help?
Our son was one of those kids who was born with a smile on his face and a laugh in his belly. I have three children, he's the middle. he was my happiest baby and my toughest kid. he was soooo sick as a baby, by six months rsv and pneumonia...nebs,etc you all know the deal. But the thing that my husband and I would always remark after all those sleepless nights was what a trooper he was. He never complained. We got our strength from him. He was jolly and happy all the time. That boy has been lost. He is done with singulair and we hope and pray to find him again. If our pediatrician and pulmonologist treat us the way the recent pediatrician posting did I would say why are you trusting these drug companies over the voices of thousand of parents. My husband and I are educated people. I am not one to just jump on the wagon. There is absolutely something to all this. These are the lives of children we are taking about. We need to listen to these kids. I have been making excuses for months about my sons changes in behavior and been so sad to see him sad all the time. I have been hard on him...tough love ... because he has turned into such a cry baby and complainer. I feel terrible. None of this is his fault. We pray for him to free of these symptoms as the days and weeks go by that he is off singulair.

My Mirena Removal....
So i posted here a few weeks ago after I found this site. I had EVERY side effect listed and was so freaked out that i immediately made an appointment for removal.
For those of you reading and wondering what the removal is like..
Well, NOTHING like the insertion. I was so so nervous and it was over before we actually started. The DR was surprised that i was back in his office to have this removed. He then proceeded to do an ultrasound to be sure it was placed properly before removal. And yes, all was OK on the position of it. I explained to him my reasons and he looked at me like he had never heard this before. I honestly can not imagine with all the women he sees that NONE of them have complained. But...as I was getting dressed afterwards, I took a good look in his office. There was Mirena literature ALL over the place. In fact, that was the ONLY thing he was advertising. Not to mention...they made me pay up front with the insertion back in Nivember...billed my insurance and I still have yet to receive my reimbursement. Oh yeah, and that...they charge more than the actual Mirena costs, then they bill your insurance for the price they know they will pay and the DR then makes about $150 profit. Nice.
Ok, back to my side effects post Mirena. The removal was not painful at all. I did spot for about a week- nothing too heavy but it was clotty and def there.
A couple of days after the removal it felt like I was coming out of my skin something terrible. I figured this was my body adjusting to the lack of hormones. I also had some headaches.
It has now been 2 weeks and the spotting has disappeared. I also can see the bloating of my stomach is starting to go away. It looked like I was about 4 mos preggo while I was on it. I also have an increased sex drive. And sleep-- well let me tell you, I have not slept this good in a very long time. I am actually sleeping more than 6 hours now and the night sweats have also discontinued.
I can't believe EVERY time I come to this site and look up Mirena ALL the people that have posted their experience as being negative. Yet, the DR looks at me like I am crazy! I have been seeing him for years and I have never complained about something like this. I really am so happy that I have it out and wish I would have done my research on this prior to insertion (which was one of the most painful things ever!)
So..for those of you out there that are either contemplating having it inserted...I say NO WAY. And for those of you out there that are nervous about the removal or not sure..I SAY YES, DO IT! For our bodies to be reacting this way, it is clear to me that it should not be inside of us. Listen to your bodies...they really do speak to you and let you know when something is not right. Forget about the DR saying it is safe or he has not heard of any of these side effects...YOU be the judge.
Good luck! And I promise it gets better once you get that lil' demon out!

This is the 3rd time I have been on Wellbutrin. Once in 1999, then in 2004, and just started taking it again 3 months ago. The first two times I took it I had joint pain and a lot of muscle inflammation. This go around is different... Just recently, within the past few weeks, I started breaking out with hives, after taking it with no problems for three months! Started on my head and progressively got worse. I break out all over my body, head, legs, back, hands, etc. For some reason it seems to happen more frequently when I lay down in my bed to go to sleep (weird!) One other scary side affect is, I frequently stop breathing when I start to fall asleep, and wake up gasping for air. Has anyone else experienced this?
Since I had never experienced problems with hives the first few times I was on Wellbutrin, I didn't think it was the medication causing the hives. So, I cut my dose in half (50mg/day). The hives didn't go away, so I stopped taking it all together 3 days ago, but still continue to get hives. Does anyone know how long it takes to get it out of your system?

I have been taking Lisinopril for 3 months, and have not stopped coughing. I cough all night, have not a good night sleep in weeks. I figured out it was the Lisinopril as I went away for the weekend and left it home...no coughing that day or that night....that made the connection for me. And,this morning I thought I was going to pass out and the top of my head was going to come off, 2 coughing 'fits' I literally saw stars. I see my doctor tomorrow and am goint to get something else I can't do anymore of this.

I begun taking Lisinopril about 2 months ago. Was lightheaded at first for about 2 or 3 weeks but that side effect seemed to disappear. My blood pressure has never been better (from 170/105 to 98/65) but just as soon as my lightheadedness went away, I started developing a dry cough. I didn't think much of it at first as I have summer allergies and my husband had just gotten over a cold with a bad cough that lasted almost 4 weeks. I just figured I had caught his cold. But after 4 weeks passed and my cough just kept getting worse instead of better. Just like everyone else on this site, I have a horrible persistent cough that brings me to the point of tears and dry heaves many times during the day and night. I haven't had a good night sleep in I don't know how long and my poor husband suffers right along with me too.
I finally went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and was prescribed an antibotic for what she described as sinusitis. Well, after finishing my 2 weeks supply of antiboitic and Mucinex, my cough is worse than ever. Since my husband and ex-husband are both smokers, I started fearing the thought of lung cancer until I found this site. I was so relieved to find out that what I'm experiencing is like a carbon-copy of so many other unfortunate people on this drug. I called my doctor today and told her the antibiotics did nothing and that I was sure it was the Lisinopril. She advised me to stop taking it immediately and monitor my cough for 2 weeks and then go in to see her. I was relieved but also scared after reading other people who have been off this drug for up to a year and still have a horrible cough. I don't know what I'll do if this doesn't go away! It's having a terrible affect on my sleep and my job as I'm constantly having to put customers on hold while I hack my brains out.
I'll post any updates on my hopeful improvement after going off this horrible stuff!! Good luck and thanks very much to everyone out there who has shared their experiences! It really helps to know that it's not just you who is going through this misery!

Don't know if completely related but daughter (9) was put on gabitril 10mos ago for PTSD... she seemed to be fine on medication, sleeping through the night finally. But she is homeschooled and I noticed that some days she would forget everything she had been taught the day before. Last week of May this yr she was playing at a birthday party and got overheated, she started having tremors, trouble paying attention, and very clumsy...Thought was related to Risperdal that she is also taking so we got her cooled off as fast as we could. Tremors lasted two days. Doctor said was unaware what would cause symptoms I was describing. A week later we took her for yearly dental x-ray and 6mo cleaning. Dentist found two teeth with internal root resourption (not common in 9yr olds) lucky for us they are baby teeth, but are not to come out for two years, they will have to be pulled and spacers put in to make room for perm teeth. Started asking questions about medication and dental problems, found that med can cause tooth decay and other problems. Don't know if that is what caused her teeth problems but x-ray last yr showed two healthy teeth. Has any one else had dental problems taking this one? Think we are going to give up a good night sleep to keep the teeth.

It's 315 in the morning, I am up again for the....Wow, I can't remember when I had a good night sleep. I started taking this drug on December 5, 2004, when I was admitted into the hospital for Congestive Heart Failure. I am 29 years old, and I am seriously contemplating suicide. I have been to my doctor many times for this cough. The first time, they said the cough was caused from my smoking. So I quit. Then when it did not go away they tell me it's because I quit smoking(ironic huh?) So it still didn't go away. I went back to the doctor, and they gave me Nexium for Acid Reflux. Of course that didn't work. On Valentine's Day I had a diffibrulator inplanted in my chest, and a week ago today I had my staples removed. While the nurse was removing them I mentioned my cough to her. She tells me that Lisinopril is the cause. I stopped taking it that day. My cough is still here. I need the cough to go away. I have 4 kids, and I am only 29. I am too young to die. Someone please tell me that this cough will go away soon. I am so tired of not sleeping. I can't even go any where because people treat me like a leper. I can't talk to any one on the phone because I can't stop coughing for longer than 1 minute. Nothing works, trust me I have tried EVERYTHING. I bought every single OTC medication on the market. I drove an hour to go to an alternative medicine shop for drugs they claimed would help me. I even ordered chinese medicine on the internet, and nothing works. I keep a cough drop in my mouth 24 hours a day, and even sleep with it in my mouth. No one I know understands what it is I am going through. My husband laughs at me when I break down and cry. My kids don't know what's going on with me. I would give my right arm for this cough to go away. It does give me some comfort to know that I am not alone in wishing horrible torment to the creator of this pill. At least someone knows what I am going through. Thanks to the creator of this web site.
