I also received a kenalog injection from a dermatologist for rashes that wouldn't go away. He told me ONLY that it would probably mess up my menstrual cycle. I thought "yeah sure that sounds great" I just wanted relief from all the itching. The rash did go away but i started to notice a dent where they gave me the injection. It has since gotten bigger and I am scared and wondering what is going on with me. My doctor never told me of atrophy or even that it was a possibility. I consulted with another doctor who told me he is not sure how this couldn't happened and that they probly injected in the wrong site. i now know after coming to this site that i am not alone and it is the kenalog that has caused me grief. Doctors need to be responsible in letting patients know every detail about the drug they are using on us. I was reassured by him that my only side affect would be irregular periods. Hopefully one day mine will go away but until the people need to be educated on certain steroids.

I have had the Mirena for a little over a year. I agree, the doctors REALLY need to start being more upfront about the side effects of this IUD. I had no problems in the beginning months. Since then I've had nothing but grief as a result of this thing. I have HORRIBLE mood swings, I have this black spot on the top of my stomach that itches like crazy, acne, serious weight gain, severe headaches, and the joint pain...sometimes I can't walk because my feet and knee hurts so bad. My mother told me to have it removed and I am going to call to make that appointment. I knew that there were too many "new" things going on with me that were unexplained. I NEVER would have thought that the Mirena was the cause of all of it. When I visited their website it didn't mention 1/4 of the things that I'm experiencing and since I hadn't heard them from my ob/gyn I didn't think it was the Mirena. I am SO grateful for this site and all of you who have made your situations public b/c I would still be in the dark about this IUD. I deemed it only right that I do the same. Thanks and I too will be having mine removed!!

Good grief I just left the Doctor to get my annual pap.. I was curious about
the Mirena.. She said it was great da da da da.. I get the baby in bed and
get on here first thing oh my god is this really all true?
Now, I have a question isn't a lot of these side affects similar to the birth control pill? And with me being a smoker other than surgery what either options do other women have.. I do have really bad periods,I have to change every hour for seven days. And I did miss carry twice before my two children for lack of progesterone. So do you think this might be Okay for me?
Since my lat baby 14 months ago I have had symptoms of acne, weight gain, hair loss so maybe this will reverse it for me? what do you think?
Help from a woman who would like to have sex without wondering if I'm going to get pregnant I am 32 I think I'm way to old to have another baby..

Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I'm starting to panic a little because school is about to begin (I'm a teacher) and none of my pants will fit, LOL.
I also wanted to address the person a few posts back who was experiencing feet and ankle swelling and another who was getting acne. My ankles looked like softballs for a while, but are no longer swelling up and I'm still fighting the acne (hello, I'm in my 40s with zits? Good greif!) I think that is also a symptom of the Prednisone.
You know, I was coughing myself stupid (after trying three dif antibiotics) and two days into the Prednisone, I felt so much better. Even so, I don't think I will ever take it again. There has got to be something else out there...something that does the good without all the evil side effects.
