H pylori symptoms and conditions

This reaction is to the entire "PrevPak", vs. just the antibiotic Biaxin. The PrevPak, used to treat H. Pylori, also contains another antibiotic, Clarithromycin; along with 2 capsules of Prevacid in prescription strength, "these are proton inhibitors" which reduce stomach acid by preventing certain actions to take place in the stomach. The side-effects of the proton-inhibitor include the potential to block the absorption of Vitamin B, calcium and an enzyme needed to process and use iron in your body. Therefore, the following symptoms or behaviors may occur, once you begin the Prevpak. a) anemia/tiredness (take some slow-release iron) b) confusion and anxiety..(B12 deficiency); c) craving for milk and dairy (calcium deficiency).

Long-term, bone breakage, and other issues arise if you continue long-term use of a proton-inibitor.

I am posting this here as many of the reactions people are associating to Biaxin seem more attributable to the Proton-inhibitor that usually accompanie's Biaxin's use for gastrointestinal issues.

Biaxin's reaction, in my case, I would say was isolated to sleeplessness feelings, strange nightmare-like wakings, disorientation, a metallic taste in my mouth, and dehydration.

All of these are considered traditional symptoms of Biaxin.

I also had itching on day 12-14 for the PrevPak dose. This is probably attributable to the proton-inhibitor possibly affecting my histamines. However, it could also be an allergic reaction to either Biaxin or clarithromycin.

There seems to be similar increases in nausea and dosage size of Diovan. Dosage has gone in two years from 40 to 80 and now 160. I am pursuing the idea that the nausea is caused by gastroparesis, which is slow emptying of the stomach, and there is some indication on websites that Diovan can indeed cause gastroparesis. I am now backing off the Diovan dosage slowly, by chopping pills and taking the 80 pill plus about 20 or 30's worth 12 hours later. As the pill is coated a bit, I wonder at what rate the exposed, chopped pill piece dispenses itself.
I had an endoscopy a few days ago and it was mostly negative, no cancer, no esophageal damage, no Barrett's, a little redness in the stomach lining which the surgeon is testing for H. pylori.
I have lost about 14 lbs due to being careful with all the nausea, and it is time to work outside on my vegetable crops, so I hope to get the BP down the right way and get rid of most or all of the Diovan.
The nausea happens about 12 hours after eating.
Anybody else having nausea?

So basically this is my story.. I am 19 and have had severe asthma every\ since I can remember. I took prednisone up until I was 14, and from what I can remember I just stopped taking it around then. Then when I was about 18 I started up again because my asthma got worse. Between the time period of 14-18 I still had asthma, but started working out and became very active and healthy.I lost alot of weight had VERY THICK long hair. Then at 18 I got very sick and my doctor put me on prednisone knowing my asthma history. After being on it for a month my hair has become thin, I have gained weight, my face has rounded, my skin used to get tan very easily but now just flushes. I have headaches all the time, can't sleep at all during the night, then crash during the day. I am constantly depressed. I always have to pee. I can't be at the gym for more than 30 mins and then I just die im so tired. I can go on and on. I have tried so many time to get off but like I have read from the above comments,I become very sick and lazy I literally can't move. But what I need answers for, and what I was wondering, has anyone started to get hives/rash after coming off or being on prednisone. Every time I try to wean off of it I get them all over my legs!! NOTHING and I mean NOTHING makes them go away except when I start up prednisone again. My doctor thinks its okay and no other doctor can figure out why im getting these hives but its so obvious its from that because when I go back on it goes away. This is not a good medication to be on. I haven't seen hair loss as one of the major side effects but has that happened to anyone else. im praying to god i can wean of this drug if anyone knows anything pleaaaase let me knowwwwwww

Abyone experience excess salivating?? I have all the above symptoms and they are horrible! I felt better before the prescription. I am on 1000 mg once and day, 2000 mg of Amoxicillin once a day and a Prilosec OTC 2x's a day. I'm taking what's called a Prevpac for a stomach bacteria called H Pylori. This has been a 2 year journey to figure out what was causing my GI issues! I had a period of about a month with no stomach issues, BUT, as soon as the Biaxin it started right back up within 20 mins! The taste in my mouth is making me sick to my stomach and I'm trying to decide if I should stop. I'm trying to hang in there because in the long run it will work in my favor, but this is only day #4 and I have 10 more to go! Any suggestions?!

I have been taking Omeprazole since December 2007 now so 2 and a half months.

I had the dose increased to 40mg 3 weeks ago as 20mg wasn't curing the burning in my throat.

For a few weeks now i have had increasing vertigo/dizziness and palpitations. I only linked the 2 to the medication just yesterday, googled it just now and confirmed my suspicions to the Omeprazole.

Other feeling i have had since taking this medication...

vertigo
palpitations
headaches/migraines
weakness
fatigue
sweating
nausea
bloating
stomach cramps
visual problems
intolerance to bright lights
aching joints
chest pain

Now my question to myself is do i come off the tablets and endure the misery of my acid reflux? surely there must be something else we can take for our stomach problems that don't cause these awful side effects.
Anyone tried anything else that worked and didn't make them unwell?

It is funny to see so many side effects to Biaxin. I am normally very lightweight on any drug, but Biaxin has been awesome. I have been on it one year or Lyme Disease and co-infection treatment and I love this drug, I sleep like a baby, never had bad aftertaste, ever. Chew gum the say if "metal" taste happens. I would recommend this drug in a second. Just wanted to post something positive, because we are all so different.

My story is long....I have been taking Yasmin for almost 2.5 years, since having my son. About 8 months after starting the pill we relocated to another state. About 6 months after that I began having shortness of breath and anxiety. I thought it was due to our relo, which was all positive but still those things can be stressful. My doctor thought it was anxiety and prescribed Zanax. I rarely took them...seemed like the anxiety subsided. A few months later I was back at my doctors office with extreme nausea and this crazy burning sensation down my arms and on my chest. I was diagnosed with H Pylori and treated for that and then had an endoscopy and found I had mild chronic gastritis. I was on Prevacid and then finally prescription Zantac for that. I went a few months and then the shortness of breath returned and I began having heart palpations. I then went back to my doctor. My heart rate was elevated so she sent me over to a cardiologist. He said my heart was fine. I then came down with a stomach virus, which is what I thought at the time, and ended up not taking my pill for 2 days and then began menstruating. I stayed off of it for a month and continued to have this terrible burning sensation on my skin. I started a new pill pack the next month and that's when the real hell began. I woke up around 1:30am with severe nausea and heart palpations. My husband took me to the ER - they said it was due to my stomach. I went back to see my GI doc she said that my stomach didn't cause that. I went to see my doctor b/c my GI doc thought it might be my BC pill because it just started happening after taking it again after being off of it for a month. I was sure it was the BC so I immediately stopped taking it. I had yet another period. Since stopping it, now it's been 14 days, I have had one anxiety attack after another, chest pains, shortness of breath, the burning skin, headaches, and major nausea. I can't eat or sleep. I can barely function. All my blood work, adrenal gland and thyroid tests are perfectly normal. No signs of anything wrong with me. I went to see my doctor today for a follow-up, she told me bluntly that I was mental! It was all in my head ! The pill could not cause this and I need to see a physiotherapist. I have never felt so bad physically in my life and then been kicked in the teeth so hard all in one day. I know all this is due to this drug. There is no other explanation. I am not crazy but I have a lot of people who believe I am. I am amazed at how the medical community is so uneducated and have become drug pushers and have forgotten problem solving. Thank you all for reading my story. I pray every minute that I will get through this and be normal again. All I want to do is enjoy the Christmas holidays with my family without being sick. BEEN ON OMEPRAZOLE FOR A FEW YEARS,BUT RECENTLY GOT DIAGNOSED WITH H-PYLORI STOMACH BUG,THIS BUG CAUSES ULSERS AND GIVES YOU SEVERE HEARTBURN.I WISH MY DOCTOR HAD THE BRAINS TO CHECK ME FOR IT WHEN I FIRST WENT TO HIM FOR HELP WITH MY HEARTBURN. HOWEVER I HAVE JUST FINISHED A COURSE OF ANTI-BIOTICS AND HAVE STOPPED TAKING OMEPRAZOLE.MY STOMACH IS NOT AS BLOATED AND MY SEVERE FACIAL RASH IS CLEARING UP.I THOUGHT IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE STOMACH BUG THAT WAS CAUSING THESE SYMPTOMS,BUT 7 DAYS AGO I STARTED TAKING OMEPRAZOLE AGAIN AS MY HEARTBURN WAS BACK.SUDDENLY MY FACE ERUPTED AND I WAS BLOATED AGAIN.I STOPPED THEM AGAIN AND ALREADY IM GETTING BETTER. MY HEARTBURN IS STILL TRYING TO GET ME BUT IM TAKING REMEGEL SWEETS THAT ARE SOLD IN MY LOCAL NEWSAGENTS AND SEEM TO BE WORKING FOR ME.I HAVE READ ALL THE SIDE EFFECTS LISTED HERE AND I AM SHOCKED THESE TABLETS ARE STILL ON THE GO. I BELIEVE OUR STOMACH ACID SHOULD NOT BE MESSED WITH AS THIS GETS OUR FOOD OUT OUR SYSTEMS QUICK ENOUGH TO SAVE BAD TOXINS ESPECIALLY RED MEAT POSIONING OUR BLOOD.

I have a history of stomach problems (H. pylori infections and acid reflux) and was doing great until I started the nuva ring. Since then, I get sick every night- my stomach hurts and i feel nauseous and I just feel cruddy. I don't know if these things are connected- anyone else have stomach pain with the ring? I also tried to skip a period with the ring and my period has been going on for a week now, when it usually lasts about 4 days. grrrrrrr...

Let me tell you guys It has been horrible for me.
a) My doctor gave me a Zpak for a strep throat it was gone in a few days.
But a few weeks later I had a stomach pains that would not go away so then the doctor did a test for H Pylori the antibody test came back positive so then I was on PrevPak(which has Azithromycin) after the 2 week period of these drugs I had a infection come up in my growing area, had burning pain for peeing. It sucked because I was on a trip to Universal Studios and was in Miami for New Years Eve. Well after this went away I had another infection come again in the growing and now its finally starting to go away after the doctor gave me some fugal pills and medications for it. What a nigthmare. With all this going I had diary and hemoroids nasty situation and normally have mouth ulcers so can you image the past two months have been hell for me!!!

I am being treated for H.Pylori. I am taking 2 Biaxin 500mg ea. along with 2 Prevacid, and 4 Trimox. The treatment is called triple therapy PrevPac a 14 daily treatment pak. Biaxin is DISGUSTING! The after taste is HORRIBLE! After day one, I was ready to give up on my treatment. It is worse than anything I've tasted in my life! NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING helped me take away the taste. I can't sleep at night due to the lingering, bitter taste in my mouth, and during the day, I indulge on food to wash it down. That sh*t taste is indestroyable. I am even thinking to taking all the other pills in the treatment and just skipping this crap! I am only on day 2 of this and still 12 more days to go. Biaxin is beyond nasty. I'd rather not treat my H. Pylori for that matter!
