My name is Amanda, I'm 21 yrs old, engaged and having some problems:
I had mirena put in December, 2008 and had a horrible first night. My cramps were terrible for at least 5 hrs. After that I had no problems other than really odd cycles (on for 10 days, off for 3 months, on for 4 days, etc)
I hadn't thought my other problems were due to this iud but now think otherwise and am seriously wanting it removed. I've been very irritable, bloated, exhausted, can't sleep at all at night until 6 am then finally sleep till 1 pm... I have absolutely NO SEX DRIVE (odd because my fiancé were very happy with our sex lives , now it's maybe once if that).
My fiancé says this is a very good form of B.C. Because we never have sex... Hahaha. I don't have any cramps but do get unusual headaches (right temple, extremely sharp pain) ...
If i knew for sure that these symptoms weren't from mirena, I'd keep it... But now am going to get it removed and get back on the shot...
Let me know if anyone has anything to help me out with the sex drive thing!!!

Does it hurt to get mirena removed?

Will my sex drive return?????
I'm only 21 and am getting married in sept 2010 (hopefully ... Haha) ...
Thanks, A.

Started taking the Zocor generic Simvistatin just 2 days ago. My legs hurt so bad that I can not sleep. My right knee is swollen to the point I have very limited range of motion and can barely walk up stairs. It is after midnight and I can't sleep. Also having some angina and my little toe on my right foot is somewhat numb. I will be contacting my physician about this tomorrow. My cholesterol was 105 and this doesn't seem to be worth it to me!

WOW!!! I wish I would have had access to this site sooner!! After 5 LONG years-yesterday I finally got my Mirena removed! I was asked if I wanted to get another one placed yesterday-I took a pass on it! I was told I could always change my mind & to give them a call when I was ready. After reading this & realizing my own side effects I WILL NOT be getting another one. I too have had some, if not, most of these side effects-but I only related the moodiness & weight gain as my only side effects from the Mirena. I'm always tired, all I want to do is be in bed all day. I have many LOW days-and sometimes any stupid commercial on TV would set me to tears-NO JOKE! Any little thing would set me off like a mad woman! And the headaches!-Oh the headaches!! My hair has been falling out a lot over the past few years (I'm talking small handfuls-daily!) I thought it was just due to the stress in my life. Since my last child-5 years ago, I gained 35 lbs that I CANNOT seem to lose, & once again-I thought it was just stress. My face has been breaking out-which I thought was INSANE because what I didn't have to put up with my teenage years-I now had to deal with. I would also too get night sweats, but just figured it was due to me being overweight. As far as the insertion-I can't really complain. I had very little cramping, & my period went away quick. The first 6 months was just occasional spotting, and after that they completely went away. It didn't affect my sex drive. But for the past 2 years-it's been haunting me that I hadn't had a period-(it's seems funny, but after 10 years of having it every month, & then for them just to not come at all-I never got used to it). I think the past 6 months have been the worst. I kept getting yeast infection that would go away w/treatment, but 2 weeks later, it was back. I had also been getting SEVERE cramping from time to time. They would only last through that day, but a few days later they'd be back. You figure I would have gone to get it removed, but reason for not having it removed was because this was the best method I had used, & didn't want the risk of having a pregnancy that we were not prepared for. I considered the other IUD (the copper one?), but my sister had worse problems with that one-extreme weight gain, cramping & periods lasting more that 2 weeks! I also considered the shot, but involves to many trips to the gyno-so I'm back to an older method........THE PILL, until we decide on having another child, or not to have any more, I am comfortable with the decision that I have made. I hope this helps some of you going through these same experiences I have gone through. I look forward to a Happier Tomorrow! (even w/the periods) =D

I'm 24 and have had problem after problem with pills, IUDs and shots for years. Mood swings, weight gain, bleeding and pain. I thought I would try the NR as I hadn't heard of it before and thought it sounded like a great idea. I have been on it for one week today and I have literally gained 3kg in a week. Thank you all for posting your experiences, I thought I was going crazy to have put so much weight on in a week. I am going to remove it today. Has anyone found anything that they haven't had issues with? Some times I seriously wish I was a man haha

Hi, my name is Eva and I am 27 years old.
I am a mother of 2 and had Mirena IUD inserted a few months after my 2nd daughter was born. This was 3 1/2 years ago.
Since then I have developed Eczema on my hands (which is the least of my concerns). More importantly I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease (hyperactive thyroid function) last year.
I had developed a goiter on my neck (enlarged Thyroid) , my hair was very brittle & my eyes were always dry and itchy.
Since then I have undergone Radioactive iodine treatment to destroy my thyroid. Reading all of your posts seriously made me angry and I teared up because I definitely think that there is a link between Mirena and thyroid problems. It makes sense that your body would try and fight off any foreign object in your body and maybe that send the thyroid into a out of whack mode ?
I am currently researching if there are any clinical studies out there on this possible connection. If anyone would like to join me - pls. contact me at ******
I have an appointment to have my Mirena removed in a few days, I sincerely hope that it will make a difference in my health.
Best regards,
E.

I am 33 yrs old. One night I was sleeping and about 12am, I woke up with my heart racing and I was having a squeezing feeling in my chest. I went to the ER and my blood pressure was extremely high. However, when they were running tests on me, they found that I hadn't had a heart attack and I was diabetic. The doctor gave me a stack of prescriptions to start taking. A few months later I went to see a different doctor, one that accepts my discount plan, and he took me off everything but metformin and 5 mg/day lisinopril. Since that night, the beginning of March, I am not the same person. I am keeping my diabetes under control, and my blood glucose is always in normal range. My last A1C test was 5.8. However, I am to the point of paranoia concerning the dead tingling feeling that I have in my feet. It is very on and off. There one minute then gone the next. It's not a feeling of numbness, because I can feel the slightest touch. Now from very little research I have already come to a conclusion that its the lisinopril. THE COUGH is enough to make me depressed and moody on its own, but now I'm thinking that my major mood swings are also coming from this drug. I cry all the time because I am worried that the diabetes is effecting my feet and that is what the doctors tell most people. My doctor said that I haven't been diabetic long enough to worry about neuropathy and that the sensation in my feet could be from a million things. Then almost every website I've looked at so far has hardly anything good to say about Lisinopril. I want to stop taking it, but don't have the money to afford an expensive medicine. what should I do? My blood pressure is usually around 102/68-70

I have taken Lamictal for about three years since I was 19. I feel like I'm experiencing the memory loss of a 60- or 70-year-old. I've always been quick and witty with impeccable grammar and spelling. These days, I struggle to remember words and their meanings, spellings and pronunciations.

I can't remember conversations I had with people half an hour before or items on my to-do list. I MUST write everything down. Sometimes, if it's in my planner, I still don't remember to do it.

It has affected me in my college classes, on the job and in my relationships. I hate the feeling that I'm less intelligent and quick as I used to be when I'm just 22. My short-term memory is shot.

Along with memory loss, I struggle to focus (always have been a straight-A student), follow conversations and often feel confused and need people to restate their thoughts so I can understand.

It's just so embarrassing to be so spacey. I didn't put it together until my sister (also on lamictal) told me about the memory loss and it clicked. At least there's a reason for my new-found stupidity.

Thanks for telling me doctor. Oh wait, she didn't.

I don't know where to begin; I have a text box in front of me that says "add a new side effect of the Mirena" but all I see are the same side effects over and over. That, in itself, speakes volumes. As for myself, it's been depression, weight gain, exhaustion and yet unable to sleep, pain down to my knees - of course all of these symptoms can be explained by everything else in the world - who, these days doesn't have money problems, stress, employment fragility, etc.? But I know myself, and this is wrong.

I had mine put in March 2009 and after a month I told my doctor I wanted it out. She said I didn't give it enough time (apparently six months is the magic number).

It's now been three months and getting out of bed is an act of heroism for me. Sex is out of the question (well, we have given it a go a couple of times and he can indeed feel the strings, contrary to what I was told - perhaps it's because he's - er - oh, never mind.)

I bleed erratically and it stinks; if I hadn't lost my sex drive already I'd be put off just by that.

I got the thing not for birth control but for pain and bleeding (not that it makes a difference)- it has made the pain worse, so I don't understand why I'm so nervous about asking my doctor (tomorrow - Monday) to have it removed?

I took yaz for maybe two weeks. after one week my breast blew up a cup size. they were so swollen! then i started noticing i was gaining weight but my diet hadn't changed. i started to swell all over within the next week. but what made me quit taking this pill was that i started getting these sharp intense pain in my upper abdominal region. it would come and gnaw at me for like 2-5 seconds then it would just go away. there was also like this temperature sensation anytime i would eat or drink anything. i've been off of it now for 5 days! i still have not got my period, my breast are still swollen, and my stomach pains are still there. i know im not pregnant, because i haven't had any sex! when is this going to get out of system or has it done something to me? i would imagine if you skip your period in one day and you can get pregnant in that one day... the pill should be out of your system! anyway- anyone else have this same situation?

I had Mirena inserted Nov 2008, one year after my miscarriage. Everything was great at first. I had it inserted on my lunch break and went back to work with no problems. Periods were shorter and lighter. Now, 6 months later I've noticed problems. About 2 months ago I was working over night and felt a sharp stabbing pain in my abdomen. I went to the bathroom and was bleeding a lot. More than a period. I went another hour, and the pain was almost unbearable. I left work and went to the ER. They said I looked fine, that Mirena hadn't moved and nothing was torn. Gave me some pain meds and sent me home. I've had short sharp pains ever since.

I was diagnosed with depression my 6th grade year, when my grandfather passed away. I've been battling ever since. So, when my depression got worse after Mirena, I didn't think much of it. But the past month or so, my thoughts have been like some other users have described. I've had very scary thoughts, and boughs of uncontrollable crying for no reason.

My periods have stopped, with some light spotting every month. I do still have cramping, but no bleeding. I'm thinking of making an appt with my OBGYN and having it removed now that I've read all of these posts. I had no idea of any side affects other than interfering with menstruation. If you don't have Mirena, make sure you research more than I did. If I had, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. I really wish I would've researched more options because now I'm beginning to regret my decision.

Wow, I can't believe the bad experiences everyone has had. I guess I was one of the lucky ones because my experience was WONDERFUL! I had it inserted about 2 months after baby #2. I lost all 60lbs I gained during pg PLUS and additional 10. I have to admit the insertion was awful but the almost non-existent periods for 5 years were wonderful. If my insurance hadn't changed, I'd have another one in a heartbeat. I don't want to be on the pill because I just had an allergic reaction and my husband is resistant to get his end taken care of. So, we're still looking.............

I had the mirena inserted about a year and a half ago. Since then I have gained 20 pounds. I have never had to fight weight gain. I'v been a stable 130 for probably 10 years. Never had to worry about what I ate or when I ate. Now, I'm eating salad, low fat stuff, fat free stuff and exercising. Of course that's all good for me, but, if I hadn't gained the 20 pounds, I would never have to eat this stuff. I've been meeting with a dietician and everything. It's been 4 1/2 weeks and I haven't lost a pound. My GYN is going to do lab tests tomorrow to see if it's my hormones, or maybe perimenopausal. I'm 46 years old with 3 kids. If the tests come back negative, I'm going to have it taken out. Hopefully I'll be able to loose this 20 pounds. I feel huge. Other than that, I have had no problems with it. The insert process was a little painful, spotting for a few months, but nothing else. Good luck with the rest of you.

I've been taking Niaspan for about six weeks now; I started out at 500mg for the first three and I'm now on week three of 1000mg. I hadn't had any side effects and I was thrilled because I can't take statins (though I do take Lovaza with success). My doctor mentioned -- but did not stress -- the "take an aspirin ahead of time" or "eat something with it) thing, so I haven't been. Three nights ago I work up from a very weird dream about my house being on fire and couldn't go back to sleep, partly because I felt hot. I got up and looked in the mirror, and as others have described, I was beet red on my neck, chest, and arms, and very itchy and hot. The "rash" was mottled at the edges. It reminded me of sun poisoning. I wasn't sure what to do; it was 5 am and I knew my partner had a bad night with sleeping already, so I didn't want to wake her. I took a Benadryl. I was wide awake, so I got onto the computer to do some stuff (never thinking I should research the damn thing!), but about 20 minutes later, I felt itchy on my stomach. I went into the bathroom and looked again. My stomach and lower back were now getting it! Interesting. I went back to what I was doing, then about 10 minutes later, my stomach was hot, so I looked again. Now my stomach and all of my back were covered, and I noticed that my neck wasn't as red. Hmmmm... 20 minutes later I looked again, and now my neck and chest were pretty clear (but still itchy) and my butt and upper thighs were getting it (stomach and back still had it). I could actually feel it breaking out on my legs! 20 minutes later, my stomach and back were clear, and my legs were covered. about a half hour later, it was completely gone. I wracked by brain trying to figure out if it was something I ate, a new detergent, a drug interaction gone wrong, but I could think of nothing. I never associated it with the "flush" my doctor told me I could get. This was so much more than a flush. The next night I was so tired that I took a half an Ambien and slept through with no problems (and remember, I had no issues before this, at least that I could remember). I thought it was a fluke. I then spoke to my father yesterday about The Rash, and he asked if it could the the Niaspan, as he had taken it before (but the flushing had been too much and he stopped). I did some research and through that I found this page. Bingo! I had already taken the Niaspan, so I couldn't try the aspirin first. Last night, I woke up at 3 feeling hot and looked, and sure enough, it was starting on my face and neck. I took a Benadryl and went back to bed. I finally fell back to sleep. I'm still a little itchy, though nothing unbearable. Tonight I will try the aspirin a half hour before and eating something non-fatty with the Niaspan. I'll give it a week to help, then I'll call my doctor. I hate to give it up if it works because I am just about out of other options to lower my cholesterol.

I have taken Advair 250/50 for approximately 7 years. It was a life saver for me. My asthma was out of control. I slept with my albuterol inhaler in my hand at night. Advair was the wonder drug. It worked when nothing else did. I had bouts of depression and weight gain over the years, but nothing really major. I ran out of Advair a few days ago and just hadn't had the chance to get a refill.I had been experiencing daily headaches, and an inability to sleep at night. I felt lethargic and beginning to feel a little depressed. I contributed it to the lack of sleep, but wasn't really sure why I wasn't sleeping. Today while sitting in class (I am a Nursing Student & will graduate in December 2009), I got a horrible cramp in my left leg, then my left arm went numb. I got a little light-headed and my head was busting! My heart rate felt fast, so I had my instructor take my Blood Pressure. It was 164/105. Now my B/P has NEVER been anywhere near this. I went to the ER, had labs done (all normal) and an EKG (perfect). After about 4 hours my B/P went back to 117/78, normal for me. The Dr. had no explanation for what happened or why. My husband came home, got online and found several forums addressing these same symptoms. I have made a decision to talk with my doctor about alternative treatment.

I had Mirena put in the end of November and was thrilled with it. I instantly regained my sex drive. I had a lot of spotting for the first few weeks but hardly any bleeding since then. About two weeks ago I noticed that the right side of my body was numb but brushed it off as I have previous neck problems and thought it might be a pinched nerve or something. The numbness is constant, from just below my ribs down to my toes, worst in the hip/groin area. I now have very little sensation during intercourse. My doctor has run blood tests and was mentioning testing for MS but after reading these posts I think it may be the Mirena. I have also had painful joints and started seeing a counselor as I have been feeling very depressed (she has recommended anti depressants). I have also had a lot of bruising, not sure if this is related, and am sick more often (have spent a total of 38 days on antibiotics since I got it put in, hadn't needed any for years before this). Making an appt today to talk to doctor!!!

On day 8 of 500mg/2x day of Biaxin, yesterday, I woke up with large red patches in my mouth, along with that white cottage-cheesy stuff I always associate with thrush. Went to doc and she said, nope not thrush, another virus (I've been sick with one upper respiratory virus after another for 2 months). She gave me Nystatin, "just in case" it is thrush.

Now I'm reading this site and thinking perhaps my mouth sores are a reaction to Biaxin. I've also been experiencing the weird dreams, mild anxiety and been wondering about it, but hadn't associated it with Biaxin until reading the posts here. Hmmm.

Before being on the biaxin, I was on Levaquin and had an allergic reaction to it--hives all over my body.

I got the Mirena on 2/2/09 and had it promptly taken out on 2/13/09. This evil device made me feel emotions from rage, anger and depression to out right panic attacks where it felt like the walls were closing in on me and I couldn't breathe. I had major bleeding from the moment it was put in, but thankfully no cramps. I was very tired and had motion sickness while driving. I felt very hungry all the time.

I didn't even attribute ANY of these symptoms to the Mirena (except the bleeding) until I was packing my bags to leave my husband in a moment of pure rage followed by a panic attack. My husband calmed me down and wanted to know WHAT was going on, because I've NEVER acted that way before. Also, I've NEVER had a panic attack before. The only thing he could think of was the it was the Mirena because that was the only new thing in my life.

So, we googled the side effects of Mirena and found that many women experienced rage, depression, thoughts of suicide, and panic attacks as well as fatigue and motion sickness. So, I made an appointment to get it out. My OB didn't want to take it out. She said I hadn't had it in long enough to give it a fair chance. But I told her that my husband wouldn't let me go home until it was OUT! She did take it out, but all the while she was looking at me as if I were INSANE. She said there is no medical way that Mirena could have caused any of what I described (except the bleeding). She said that scientifically it is IMPOSSIBLE because it only has a low progesterone dose. She tested my thyroid instead (which came back just fine). She seriously did not believe me. I told her that I had googled the side effects of Mirena and she simply told me, "You can find anything on google to support your claims if you try, but it doesn't make it true."

Since I've gotten it out I have felt like myself again. No more rage or moody panic attacks. I am still bleeding, and although it was heavier than I'd ever experienced before, it is FINALLY going away.

I am so glad I found this site because now I know I'm NOT crazy!

I started using the NuvaRing in 2003. I am still on it and now really having second thoughts. When I started usign the nuvaring I was already taking the anti-depressant Lexapro (not sure if it's spelled correctly). Since I started taking both of the medications around the same time, I could not decipher which symptom went with what medication. I was experiencing numbness in my face, hands and legs. I was also very fatigued, had a candida related rash for 6 months, and gained weight.

Yet, through these symptoms my period was easy, painless, and short. So I quickly assumed it was all related to my anti-depressant. My doctor prescribed me Prozac and most of the symptoms I had been experiencing went away. But for the next four years I had numbness in my face and hands the week after my period, the first week I had a new ring in. During that week my doctor prescribed me to double the amount of prozac and it cured most of the numbness and nausea. Yet taking more prozac seemed to really affect my short term memory.

Last November 2008, I decided to ween myself off of the anti-depressant. By January I was totally off of Prozac. It is now February 16th 2009 and it is the week after period and just got a new ring. Today I am experiencing major numbness in my face, hands, and legs. I am having terrible headaches, vision problems and have no energy. After reading all the posts tonight I realized that all these years I have been on the Nuvaring I have mistaken its side-effects for other medications side-effects. I am really trying to cleanse my body of medication b/c my stress level and lifestyle has changed.

I want to go to the doctor and discuss other alternatives since I feel terrible and have been on this for so long. If I hadn't had gone off the other medications I never would have associated my symptoms with the NuvaRing. But now it all makes sense.

I had Mirena inserted in Feb 2007. The insertion was quite painful. I had severe cramping accompanied by light spotting for 2 or 3 days. After the cramping went away I didn't have any problems what so ever for several months (other than complaints from my husband of a pinching sensation during sex). I thought the device was wonderful, and regretfully have recommended it to several friends and family members. I had no bleeding at all, no period or spotting, for close to a year. Then one day after sex, when I got up to go to the bathroom I experienced heavy bleeding. The bleeding was so bad I was worried that the Mirena had punctured my uterus or something. I made a doctors appointment to have it checked and they said it was still in place and occasional unexplained bleeding was normal. Although it freaked me out I thought maybe it was a one time thing and said okay. Well, every since that day every time we have sex I spot, sometimes its very light and others quite heavy. Also my husband said he could no longer feel it during sex. I couldn't understand why if it hadn't moved as the doctor told me. The next side effect, well group of side effects, began not long after. I began having nausea, stomach pains, just feeling kind of blah. Then I started gaining weight. I thought "Oh my God, I am pregnant!" I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. I have thought that I was pregnant at least 5 times due to the increase in the nausea and being so emotional. I have gained about 30 pounds over the last 8 months and can not lose it. I have even taken Adipex, a prescription diet medication, no results. I have an appointment to have it taken out the 21st, if it's even still in there. I hope my body and my mind goes back to the pre-Mirena days.

I started using the nuvaring about three weeks ago...I've experienced:
Serious emotional changes (mood swings, unexplainable crying), Nausea, Stomach Cramps, Headaches, and just today started experiencing some pretty painful leg cramps....My boyfriend mentioned that we hadn't had sex in over a week so my sex drive has decreased immensly!!! He and I both don't know how to deal with my raging hormones...I'm taking it out...thanks for your input ladies.

Was prescribed this 9 days ago for a sinus infection. Last night (the 9th day) I was getting ready for bed and noticed a rash on my arm. I then noticed that it was on my other arm...and then saw it on my legs, chest, abdomen, back, etc. Basically everywhere except my face (though today it has shown up slightly on my face). After noticing the rash, I took some Benadryl and went to bed. About 30 minutes later I woke up suddenly--I felt a bit woozy and dizzy. Suddenly, my legs started jerking, my body was shaking, teeth chattering etc. My husband called the doc on call, who said that the rash was definitely due to the antibiotic, and that the dizziness/lightheadedness was most likely a reaction to the Benadryl. She said the rash would probably last about 3 days, and that as long as my breathing stayed fine and my lips/tongue didn't start to tingle, I would be OK. It has now been almost 24 hours; the rash is still there and I have had chills off and on throughout the day. The doc called to check on me a few minutes ago, and told me if the rash is not improving by tomorrow (Monday), to come in to the office. She explained that she was a bit concerned that the dizziness might be low blood pressure resulting from the reaction to the sulfamethoxazole, and that it could make a person very sick. She wasn't as concerned since I hadn't experienced the dizziness again since. Scary!

Started at 10 mg/day, then doubled to 20 and finally 40mg lisinopril with 25mg HCTZ..

After being upped to 40mg I started getting a itchy lump in my throat that lead to an amazing amount of cloudy white mucus. This would usually occur later in the day and especially when I tried to lay down to sleep. Lungs feel fine, no wheezing, rumble or pain. Nostrils sometimes clog a little but not enough to explain where all the mucus was coming from. Throat doesn't really hurt except when I used a lot of generic sore throat spray.

Doctor mentioned the possibility of acid reflux or a seasonal allergy and give me generic Claritin which didn't help a bit. I'm 56 and can't say I've ever had a seasonal allergy in my life but he said they can develop at anytime so I was hoping he was right. When the weather turned cold and the symptoms remained I even thought I was allergic to something in my home, new drywall, fiberglass, mold something.

After considering the possibility of a reaction to lisinopril or terbinafine I started googling to find posts that described my reaction to a tee.

Besides the cough/mucous I've had a pounding heart, anxiety, fear of dying not knowing what was wrong etc.

Lisinopril seemed to bring my pressure down at the one month point so my Doctor doubled it to bring it down another 15 points. Three weeks later instead of going down it went back up so he doubled again and added the water pill. Today when I went to the Doctor it was still up and I told him about my web research. He agree it was not working for me anyway and I suppose he believed my suspicions about the side effects, at least for me.

He asked me "You're self pay aren't you?" as if just because I had to pay for the stuff myself I'd rather take the $4.00/month crap rather than pay for what I need. If you're self pay you even get 20% off if you pay within 30 days. I bet if I'd walked in there with insurance I'd have erg's, mri's, all that overpriced stuff.

Anyway he put me on Bystolic (30 days free samples :)) which I think I could detect a bit more confidence in his voice that it would actually work. I mean I'd much rather pay $4/month for generics if it worked and didn't make me feel like crap but I'll gladly pay the over inflated $50/month price for something that actually works without making me feel so much worse.

Back in April I came down with a Sinus infection (I basically can diagnose myself because this is all I get these days). Well, the doc told me that since I hadn't had the wretched sickness 7 days (I was on day 5), that i would have to wait til Monday. I wish I had picked a fight, because by Monday, my throat was so swollen I couldn't swallow my own saliva! I had to refreeze EVERYTHING to numb my throat before even trying to drink any thing. So, I went to my physician and he prescribed me omniceff. Usually that does the trick, but by that Wednesday (day 9), I had trouble breathing, my sinus got backed up and caused pink eye, and apparently I also had Laryngitis. I went back to my physician, bent over and begged for a shot of something (my family knew I was bad if I was begging to come face-to-face with my phobia). So they gave me a shot, pink-eye eye drops, and other items. All samples so I wouldn't have to pay for the very expensive prescriptions.
By that Friday, I still hadn't gotten better and found myself living over the trash can because the mucus was so bad I vomited anything warm. He sent me to the Ear-Nose-Throat doc for the following Monday.
Phew, this doc helped me. He was the one to find that my sinus caused a respiratory infection and Laryngitis. He prescribed me Avelox and gave me a stern warning to read all the side effects and eat a good amount of food and to keep track of any issues I have with it.
So I went home with my Avelox samples and took one after eating a large bowl of grits with eggs...I hadn't eaten like that in 2 weeks, so I was praying to keep it down. Once I finished eating, I did my online research and found that Avelox is almost the last prescription they give you before sending you to the hospital and that it was the same prescription as the pink-eye eye drops only in pill form!!! I noticed that if I didn't eat a high-caloric diet while on Avelox, I paid severely with stomach aches, nausea, dizziness, and sometimes cramping and vomiting!!! The doc was serious.
I was on this med for almost a month before I kicked the crap out of my infections!

I was put in the hospital November 8th, they were giving me Levaquin through IV's and then after they seriously hurt the back of my hand, I demanded to take meds by mouth-I had already had around 5 days of this through the IV-I was diagnosed at the emergency room with a ruptured appendix, and it had been that way for 3 weeks-it took 1 doctor and 2 hospitals to diagnose that!! really makes we wonder about the medical profession these days! so when I was released from the hospital after a 6 day stay and appendix still in me, they gave me a prescription for Levaquin for another 10 days-well, I took it for 8 days and had to stop all together-I have been so weak and from my knees down kill me! I have bad joint pain in my knees and hips, but I thought maybe this could be from sitting in a hospital bed for all those days-now that I've read all these complaints, I'm wondering if I should have taken this stuff at all! I hadn't taken any kind of antibiotics for over 3 years-have been ok up til now. I am so scared of the pain and tingling in my feet, thought maybe it could be blood clots in my legs from not moving around as much as I'm used to-my grandmother recently passed from a blood clot and my cousin also at the age of 33 died from a clot after knee surgery! so what do I do?? is it a clot or is it the dreadful drug "Levaquin" that is causing me all this pain?? any suggestions out there?? and I have no insurance either! what a terrible experience!

Hi, Ive had the Mirena for 2 weeks now and it has been TERRIBLE, I have had terrible sharp pains off and on... I have never had kids but is a contraction like the pain that I am feeling? My doctor suggested that I have it put it since I felt sick with the pill and specially if I am not ready to have a baby yet. I've been married six months now.... I don't know if this will go away and I don't know what to do, the only thing good about this is that my sex drive is much better, lol... but this is terrible what should I do? Should I have it taken out and will it hurt?
