I was given Levaquin for a kidney infection. It seemed to help break my fever but after only one dose, I broke out in rash and later that night had tingling in my legs. My hand felt numb. When I called the oncall doctor she told attributed to anxiety. I told her I was anxious because all of a sudden my hand had gone numb and knowing that was a danger sign I refused to take anymore. Later that night, I could not walk or stand or bear weight on my legs. My shins and Achilles tendons were burning and only because of the internet did I know what was happening to me. Only 1 out of three doctors would agree I was having a drug reaction. For some odd reason, the doctors REFUSE to believe or acknowledge this was caused by Levaquin. No wonder the side effects are "rare" if no doctor will acknowledge the pain their patients are going through....how can the drug companies get any real feedback. Funny thing is only after I sent an email out to my team essentially warning them about this drug did I find out my coworker who had been on medical leave had suffered the same fate of torn achilles tendon and only after 3 months of PT is finally walking without pain. WHAT IS WRONG WITH our world when no one will listen to us. Thank God for the internet. I can walk now and have no pain standing (lasted only 2 and half days) but I am scared about the future as I know the results are lingering. I have been exhausted this whole weekend and wonder if its just me recovering as my PCP had me quit all antibiotics even at the risk of getting my kidney infection back. Well nice to know our stories are the same...and its not in our heads. BTW, my ER doctor told me it was a good drug and very unlikely the cause of my leg pains. They rather believed I had pneumonia or lyme's disease before they would believe it was caused by their beloved drug. All I can think now is I hope one day they are given this drug and it cripples them like it has so many others. Sometimes that is the only way they will acknowledge the truth. It has to happen to them or someone they love.

Can anybody tell me how long this lasts? I've been off it for a week and still no relief. The drug should be out of my system now. Any feedback would be appreciated.

This medication is deadly! I was prescribed 100mg twice a day for 2 weeks for a supposed pelvic infection (don't know yet if that's actually what I have - personally I don't think so). I took it for 6 and a half days (equals 13 pills) and when I found this website and read people's experiences I immediately quit. I experienced some mild nausea the first few days but didn't relate it to the Doxycycline. Then I noticed I was having more bowel movements than normal (5 in one day). I thought maybe I was eating too much fiber as I had increased my intact recently. Then on the 6th evening everything fell apart. I was panicking for no apparent reason; it was just washing over me in waves. My heart was racing and felt like it was going to pound right out of my chest. I barely slept that night because every time I drifted off I startled awake with my heart racing. My body felt weird but I don't know how to explain it; my feet were tingly. The next morning I got hit with diarrhea (I'm usually constipated). Then that whole day I was sobbing on and off throughout the day. I felt like I had hit rock bottom. I wanted to die but was trying to fight these thoughts. I thought I was going to go crazy and start screaming. That was yesterday. I did not take my evening dose then and today have not taken my morning dose and will never take it again. I managed to sleep during the night although my whole body was super tense. Today I am doing better already but am very nauseous. My stomach & back hurt a bit but I am not sure if it is because of the Doxycycline or not, because I have been having a lot of health problems lately. Looking back on the last week, I can see the other side effects I was having which included being really cold (which is totally unlike me and it's summer), occasional ringing in my ears, burning in my abdomen, mild headaches, dry lips, trembling, my face feels hot...I can't remember everything. The panic & depression was the worst. Don't take anti-anxiety meds or antidepressants to combat this. I have been on them and they make things worse -- withdrawal can take months and is hell-like. Just get off the Doxycycline.

I am glad I found this website. I thought I was losing my mind. I had a migraine for 5 days before going to the doctor. He didn't think the headache was from the Doxy. Ended up in the ER for the migraine, I was literally at my wits end. They gave me the cocktail to get rid of the headache and I woke up with it the next morning. I stopped taking the Doxy and started on Levaquin. Finally back to myself, no headache and energy.

I finished with a 10 day dose of doxycycline 3 days ago. At about the 7th day, I started having nausea, loss of appetite, headache, sore and dry throat, sensation of burning on my skin (especially my arms), severe muscle pain in my upper back shoulders and neck. After I finished with my 10 day dose, the nausea and loss of appetite mostly went away, but I am still having headaches, sore throat, muscle pain and the sensation of burning on my skin. Does anyone know how long these side effects will last?

Hello all, the first bc pill i took was fencom fe. I don't recommend this to anyone seeing as it put me into such horrible depression. So my doctor switched me to Loestrin fe. My period cycle has been amazing. m on my 4th month and i get my periods for only 2 and a half days and always during the brown pills. My issue now however is that i have been experiencing something like a kidney infection for about 2 months now. I had a test done and they said it was a SLIGHT infection but recently during my 4 reminder pills i noticed it got better! I started a new pack this week and its getting bad again(waking up in the middle of the night to use the toilet, if i have to go then i have to go THEN, constantly having to go). Is anybody else experiencing this? I can't figure it out. The only other horrible side effect im having is hunger! Im never full. Thanks so much!!

I was breast feeding my 1 month old but I wasn't making enough milk for her and was supplementing. My doctor prescribed Reglan to help increase my milk supply and I have never been allergic or had any sort of reactions to any drugs before in my life, so I was fine with trying the drug. I had been taking it four times a day for 1 and a half days before I became incredibly depress and withdrawn from my baby. I felt like I didn't know how to hold her or comfort her. I just prayed that she would stay asleep. I begged my husband not to go to work the afternoon of the second day, but I knew he had to leave. Later that evening it got so bad. I felt like my skin was going to crawl off my body. My hands were shaking and I couldn't sit still. I didn't want to go near my baby. I knew something was wrong and I had to call my aunt to come over and take care of the baby for the rest of the night until my husband got home from work. I stopped taking the Reglan immediately and I was fine by the next morning. I was completely back to myself. I wouldn't advise anyone to take this drug. It's not worth it. It was the worst feeling I've ever had in my life.

I am a 38 yo female. Took bactrim for UTI. Two and half days into treatment, I could not sleep. Strange dreams, agitation. Next day, absolute feeling of panic, anxiety, restlessness, loss of appetite, weakness in hands, confusion, sweating, heavy heartbeat. Went to ER, they were unfamiliar with this reaction. Seems to take quite awhile to get the medication out of your system. I will never take bactrim again.

My 7yr old daughter was put on this med becasue of a UTI. she took it for six and a half days, while on this med it took 5 day for the infection to go away, on the seventh day sick got sick at school was running a temp of 102.2 I took her back to the Dr. because to had a small red rash on her face by the time we got to the office it was all over her body. We saw the Dr. first thing in the morning by tea time her whole body was covered and I was told the headaches, vomiting. and temp was a virus but after I read everyones information I can see that the fever, headaches and vomiting was due to this med. I can't believe that I was not told about the side effects of this med.

I have been on alesse for a little over a month. I have experienced very little side effects and have been happy with this pill so far. I experienced some break through bleeding for about a week in the first month and some breast tenderness but that is all. The plus side, my period lasted two a half days-with very little cramps. No weight gain or mood swings.

My son has been taking Keppra since his first seizure last year when he was 18, starting out with 500g. He kept having the seizures (all grand mal) off and on and because he was planning on going into the military, he was told that because of the seizure disorder, he could not serve. Given a medical discharge and coming home, he still had them, but the cause was because at times he forgot to take his meds or he worked out over exerting himself, stuff like that. From the end of April until July 6th, he did not have a seizure (his Keppra was increased to 3000g a day), and that seizure was not as bad as the previous ones he had.
We ended up switching doctors because the original doc did not want to do an eeg on my son, so with my husband and my decision plus our primary care physician agreeing, we starting having my son see a new doc. This doc seems to really care about his patients, and after talking with us, he gave my son a prescription for Depakote, 500mg three times a day along with the Keppra. A day and a half after taking the drug (the first day he took it at night then taking it as prescribed daily), he started vomiting. He would eat, later on lay down, wake up EXTREMELY nauseous, and start throwing up. This happened for four and a half days, and the doctor told him to stop taking the meds immediately. He did blood work again and said that his Depakote serum levels had dropped drastically and he wanted to put my son back on the Depakote, but at half strength; 250mg three times a day. Our answer to that? HELL NO!!! My son was miserable; he has a job and hangs out with his friends and not being sure if he would start throwing up again, he minimized going out except to go to work. It is frustrating as all HELL, took that crap for six days and four and a half of those days he was vomiting, unsteady on his feet, eyes were red looking like he was a zombie, and had starting messing with his memory in ONLY SIX DAYS! Yes we all want him to be free from this demon, and so far for these past few months of this year, (from end of April to July 6) he has had one seizure. He has not had another one since that day. As far as we are concerned as his parents, he will never take that crap again, I don't care WHAT this doctor says. And I am going to say that I believe that my son will not want to take it again either, even at a lower dose.
I took the time to call the company who manufactures the Depakote, and one of the reps I spoke to said that even if my son took a lower dose, it could still have the effects of vomiting as with the higher dose, and her concern is that when he is throwing up, he is also throwing up the Keppra which could cause him to have a seizure. NOBODY wants that!
