I just started Singulair about a month ago. Before I started taking the tablets I remember hearing some negative information on the news about the medicine. I found this web site and read about all the side effects before taking my first tablet. Even though there was so much negative information I thought I would give the medicine a try anyway. I have always been in good health and only needed this medicine for seasonal allergies. Part of me said "I know the side effects wont affect me!" Well I was WRONG! I have had the worst nightmares!!!

The nightmares started the first night I started taking Singulair. I continued taking the medicine hoping the nightmares would pass. Well, they have only got worse. However, last night was horrible. Not only did I have my nightly nightmares I had a hallucination! It started when I heard my 2 year old son wake up. He first opened his bedroom door then drank some water that was on his night stand, then was on his way over to my room. I got up to put him back in bed just to find out his bedroom door was closed and he was sound asleep in his bed. I haven't had any other side effects, but I think this is a good enough reason to stop taking the medicine. Does anyone have any other suggestions for another allergy medicine I can take. I've already tried Nasonex and Flonase they don't work nearly as good as Singulair. Any suggestions would be great thanks!

My daughter is 4 and has allergies. Last year she was briefly on Zyrtec and I immediately noticed that she became very aggressive. This year her doctor prescribed Singular. She has been on Singular for 8 days. Her appetite has dwindled. She has complained that her stomach hurt which I thought was due to not eating. Last night, she had nightmares - screaming out in a panic. This afternoon she couldn't sleep. This evening she fell asleep in my arms. Suddenly she sat up with glazed eyes wide open and began to relive when she fell and hurt her hand a few days earlier. I thought she was sleep talking with her eyes open. She was in a total panic but appeared to be sleeping. Yet, when her dad approached she held out her arms for him to pick her up. She eventually fell back asleep only to awaken two more times with similar sceneros played out. I could not get these scenes out of my mind. Given the previous experience with Zyrtec, I looked over the side effects of Singular and the word Hallucination jumped out at me. I spoke with a pharmacist who was not aware of anything I have since read on this site. I decided to Google Singular Side Effects and came upon this site. Tears well in my eyes after I read posting after posting. Thank you, thank you to all who have posted their experiences. You have saved my daughter and our family from a true nightmare. Bless you and your family.

Took mostly for seizures, but have been informally diagnosed with Bipolar II.

Had tremors at night, almost immediately, marked anxiety, weight loss, strange heat flashes, severe headaches (already have a migraine problem), complete w olfactory hallucinations (could have been breakthrough simple seizures, or headache auras).

Felt detached from myself and others. But the most disturbing symptom of all was auditory hallucinations. I have no history of psychosis and this only happened after starting Lamictal. Basically I could hear a constant chirping sound, subtle, but loud enough at night to keep me from sleeping unless my radio was playing to distract me from the sound. Could it have been a new form of seizure? Maybe, but regardless, the sounds started at the time I started this drug. Plus, according to a psychiatrist, I had no signs of psychosis, just the unexplained phantom sounds. One last possibility: Maybe an inner ear problem. Still would like to look into that.

People are right when they say this is still an experimental drug. If I had known what I was getting myself into, I never would have tried this drug to begin with. If any of you have had auditory hallucinations on this drug, without a history of any sort of hallucination or psychosis, PLEASE respond here and let me know about your experience. Thanks!

My mom (age 80 yesterday) has had a bad cough and bronchitis for about 2 months and for some reason the doctor prescribed Singulair. She had one dose last night and the side effects were immediate. She had extremely vivid dreams, hallucinations continuing today, talkativeness, nausea, pain in her hips, and tingly hand. She said she fell 4 times last night - tipped over, and asked her grandchildren and son-in law to help her - they were not really there though. It was a hallucination. She's also shaky and heart palpitations, but she had that already. I will never give her this again.

Here is my story. I used OrthoTriCyclen Lo for over a year...no side effects and nothing was wrong. I decided to switch to Yasmin because it was cheaper and I was told that a lot of women were on it.
Needless to say, its been about a month since I've been on it and I feel horrible. I have such bad stomach cramps and bloating. It feels like I don't eat anything and I still have to run so fast to the bathroom. I called the GYN and she told me that it could be a virus or an upper GI infection. BUT, the thing is that I do not get sick that often. I barely get side effects with any medication I take. Yasmin is the first BCP that I have had side effects with. I guess I have to prove the GYN wrong. I know that it is a side effect and not a hallucination or virus/infection.
I constantly feel dehydrated and irritable. I also have a mild case of depression. I just don't want to talk to anyone and I feel sad. I go home after work and I will just sit there quietly and my mother always thinks that something is wrong. Sometimes I feel like crying but for no apparent reason.
Maybe this is a sign for me to stop. I guess I will have to go back to OrthoTriCyclen Lo since it worked great for me...
Maybe I should listen to my own advice...

Thank you for everyone's posts. You have been great! I wish the best to all...

Holy crap, I grew a tale! I hope this is just a hallucination from the drug. I'll get back to you to tell you if it's real or not.
