Is anyone experiencing confusion, trouble thinking, trouble concentrating, decreased cognitive function, mental sluggishness, trouble solving problems or situations which require logical thinking and sequencing, and memory loss? Would love to hear from anyone experiencing any these symptoms and if so, how long were you on the drug.
Thanks!

Lucky me- I started MACROBID Christmas eve for a UTI. I have never taken it before and felt nausea that night then the next morning (CHRISTMAS!) when I woke up I felt like I had been out drinking the night before. I had the worst hangover-like headache. I was tied all day, no fun on Christmas day with three kids, and then I took my nightly dose and headache got worse and I felt like I was going to vomit for many hours after that. What a crappy Christmas day. And lovely gas all day too. I am going to call the doctor in the morning to see if I can start something else! I will be careful to read from now on the possible side effects on any medications I get and be aware of what is happening to me!

Um I started taking Yasmin a month before I went to college, so I've been on it for about 2ish years now. I would say I have a lower sex drive, but I don't know if it's birth control or just me getting a little older. Other than that no problems, but I also started getting horrible hangovers when I started college too, which didn't ever happen before. I was wondering if anyone had notice that Yasmin and alcohol may cause severe stomach issues or if it just means as I got older my hangovers got WAYYYYY worse. I mean it's not just a normal hangover, my stomach hurts so bad I can't get out of bed. And it's not because I started drinking more in college, I would say I easily drink less now and no matter if I have 2 drinks or 10 I feel the exact same.

I have had my Mirena for 4.5 years and found this site when looking up info on removal...WOW, I had no idea that women had so many different problems with this IUD. The reason I chose Mirena to begin with is that I had tried many other forms of birth control...not so much to prevent getting pregnant...but I had such bad menstrual cramps that they would cause my blood pressure to drop and I would pass out. My only option left was hysterectomy, and I was only 40 years old at the time. In any case, I never really thought I had problems with the IUD other than the initial pain at insertion. I attributed my weight gain over the past 3 years to a decrease in activity after beginning a Doctorate degree while still working full time. One thing I could never explain is the constant feeling of fatigue and occasional dizziness that seems to have increased over the past year....almost like a light hangover. I have also been getting more acne and breast tenderness over the past year, but I thought this might be due to the medication on the Mirena losing its potency. I am scheduled to see the Gyn next month, where I was going to ask her to remove the current Mirena and replace it with a new one...but I am not so sure about replacing this. I would appreciate advice specifically on whether anyone went from this option to a partial hysterectomy and their experience, as this is really my only other choice at this point.

I was given a prescription for Trazodone four days ago beginning with a 150mg dose. I have a very long history of getting by on three to four hours of sleep and was constantly tired. That first dose really knocked me for a loop the next morning. When I first stood up after the alarm went off I was spacey, groggy, unsteady on my feet, joint pain in my knees and hips, and slight pain in the muscles of my legs. It was a full three hours before I felt somewhat better although I felt unsteady on my feet and when I walked, I walked as though I had a hangover. I decided to only take 75mg tab the second night. I slept twelve hours. When I awoke the above mentioned symptoms were still there but were much, much lest in intensity. The third night I took 50 mg. I slept nine hours and when I awoke the symptom were really minimal and felt quite normal after an hour or so.

I cant thank you all enough THANK YOU. I am 45, have 4 older children and have had the mirena for twelve months. the nurse who encouraged me to have the mirena and fitted it told me to ignore the booklet , that side effects were very rare as the drugs don't go into your blood stream. I cant believe i fell for that, i mean it doesn't make sense. since having it in i haven't stopped bleeding bits,im covered in a rash that the doc says is a viral infection, i have incredible mood swings, joint pains, cramps, depression which i have been taking st johns wort for, shakes, headaches, dermatitis on my hands, forgetfulness, crying, numb hands and feet, weak ankles that tend to just go all of a sudden which makes me feel really stupid. Blurry vision and feeling a inner hotness behind my eyes, some mornings i feel like ive got a hangover even though i don't drink. As for sex forget it i mean why would my hubby want me!! and its the last thing i feel like. I cant believe hes put up with me and my nasty moods. Ive been married for 24 years. I never thought that all these systems were due to the mirena, until i looked it up and stumbled onto this site, i must of read all of the posts, and look twice a day to see if there are any new ones.I have had to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment to have it taken out, but thank god i had it taken out this morning. I couldn't believe how easy, quick and painless it was, maybe i was lucky that the strings were easily found. I feel sooo relieved to finally have it out and only feel slightly crampy. I cant wait to get back to normal. This is the fist time i have ever posted anything on the internet so please forgive me if my typing isnt up tp scratch, its taken half an hour to write this. I feel i have a lot to make up for with my family and my very lovely hubby and hope that these systems go quickly. I will let you know and please keep up the posts i need the encouragement, and im sure others do too.!!

Severe breast pain, bladder infections, hot flashes.
More than a year later I am still having breast pain.
As a sleep aid, though, this was great. I had no hangover
grogginess from it. I was sorry to have had to stop taking it.

I also felt the "hangover" effect as mentioned by the others. Headache, foggy thick, I call it "doughy brain", agitation. I have a connective tissue disease, FMS following trauma from 06 auto accident plus chronic neck and back pain so the pros outweigh the cons. I take a Vicodin 750mg Flexeril and Serax cocktail at night before bed...and sometimes sleep...sucks.

I just started taking One a Day Women and had to discontinue immediately. I have not taken a daily vitamin since I was a kid and I don't think after this experience I ever will again. Within 4 hours I was throwing up non stop for about an hour. The next morning I woke up feeling like I had been out drinking all night. It was like a horrible hangover. I only took one as directed. I experienced headache, dizziness, clammy hands, hot flashes, nausea, diarrhea, etc. I would not recommend to anyone wanting to start a daily vitamin regimen.

I went on the ring about a year ago and I have loved it. I have been having a problem when I drink too much alcohol though and I am not sure if it has to do with the ring. Whenever I drink to the point where I don't feel good and I have a headache, I get really suicidal and freak out. My boyfriend noticed a few days ago that these episodes started around the same time I got the ring, but we aren't quite sure. Has anyone else ever had any experiences like these? I would like to know as soon as possible so I can take it out. Also, I would like to know if there are any other birth controls that people would recommend besides the pill. I don't like having to remember to take them every day.

I started taking 80mg a day for a rash I developed after the Celestone didn't work. This has been the worst hell I have ever gone throught, I would much rather have given natural birth. 80mg a day for 5 days, 60mgs a day for 5 days, 40 mgs a day for 5 days, then 20, and 10 for 5 days. I am on the3rd day of 40 mg. My face is so swollen. I have had to cancel social events as I cannot even carry on a decent conversation. The nervousness is over whelming. I cannot work . I come home and drink alcohol to take the edge off, which the affects are greatly exaggerated, but no hangover in the morning, which I'm sure is putting my body through hell. The Dr. gave me 25mg of vistarill to help me sleep. Wonderful drug! If it wasn't for my dogs, I would be insane, as they are the only living creatures I can stand to be around. I am going to cut my dosage to 3 days instead of 5 to start weaning myself off. I read on another web site that the moon face should start to dissapear when I go down to 10 mg a day. Thank GOD!

Two days ago, I needed to drink two doses of gastrographin one hour apart two hours before an abdominal CT. Not more than 20 minutes after drinking the first does with 12 oz. of cranberry juice I felt a burning sensation in my eyes and they started to water. I also felt disoriented for a moment or two, similar to what one might feel when they are driving tired and they have a hard time keeping their eyes open. By the time I had started drinking the second dose, I had diarrhea and visited the bathroom three times before setting off for my CT appointment.
Once reaching the medical facility, I used the restroom twice more within 40 minutes time before my scan. I feel like I am telling you way more than I would tell anyone else however it was remarkable to me to have to visit the toilet five times in less than three hours! I was made to drink a third dose just prior to my scan and given an IV dose of contrast. Throughout the remainder of the day I felt out of sorts: loss of appetite, lethargic, thirsty, and although less frequent visits to the toilet were necessary, I continued to have diarrhea.
The next morning I awoke with the most enormous headache. I have never had a hangover but what I felt was what I imagine a hangover would feel like . . . I felt crummy! I still had the diarrhea and I was drinking water like a mermaid out of water.
Today, two days later, I feel like I am back to normal. I attribute the crummy side effects I experienced to the gastrofrafin but not being knowledgeable about such things, I decided to research possible side effects on the web. So that's how I got here.

My doctor prescribed seroquel to me for my severe anxiety. I took one b/f bed and woke up feeling horrible. I could barely get myself out of bed, I was foggy brained and lethargic. I thought it would pass so I went about my morning routine, when finally it hit me I couldn't take it any longer. And it resulted in a Full blown panic attack!!!! I took my clonazepam and eventually after sleeping for a bit, felt better.
I threw the pills in the garbage, I will NEVER take them again. I'm so scared to try anything new, b/c of what happened after taking seroquel. However I'm running out of options:(

Anybody concerned about their pill symptoms, look up CANDIDA. It is related to so many symptoms and my latest thoughts are, The pill causes candida and candida causes the symptoms. This means your body may not go back in check after stopping the pill.
I have had
Mood "problems" we'll call them,
headaches mostly as a soreness in my temples,
Dizziness,
Sore feet,
Random cramps in legs,
Flu like aches and pains,
Chemical sensitivity,
Fatigue,
Stomach problems
Decreasing ability to concentrate,
Severe and sudden beer intolerance, meaning taking only 2 beers to get a wicked hangover,
Sudden noise and light sensitivity,
To keep it kinda short here, I just kept telling my doctors, I feel like I'm getting old. I'm 27! I think this pill gave me a great breeding ground for candida and candida did the rest. Look it up!

When I started taking Lexapro I had the light headeness, rapid heartbeats, if I took the pill in the morning I was sleepy all day and if I took it at night I was wide awake. I was told to wait about a month for the drug to be in my system. That all went away. I lost weight while I was on Lexapro. That was my silly pill. It made me hyper and I could drink liquor with out a hangover (not to give anyone ideas!!) The only thing I didn't like about the drug was it makes you go dumb. Things that really bothered me didn't bother me and what I wanted to remember I couldn't remember...I was constantly writing notes down. Besides a silly pill it's a DUH pill.

I have experienced many of the same issues with Loestrin, bloating, random spotting, weight gain, moodiness, and loss of sex drive. However the side effect that I haven't heard but one person mention is what happens when you drink alcohol while on this pill. I have a low tolerance to begin with, yet now that I am on this pill I will get a hangover after 1 or 2 glasses of wine. It really has varied but at one point I only had two drinks and the following morning proceeded to throw up three times. I am changing to Yasmin because of insurance reasons but am happy to try something new as this pill has only greatly complicated my life.

Oh my word...thank GOD for this site which helped me figure out why I have been so sick. Was not even on Femcon for a month. I couldn't even finish a week!! The very first day that I took it I was soooo sick. I felt so sick to my stomach and then eventually just started vomiting. I didn't know whether or not to contribute it to the slight hangover I had or the Femcon. But, as the next few days went by, I knew it was the pill. I started reading what all of you ladies were posting and I was convinced. I was so tired and dizzy and felt like I was going to vomit all day long! So, needless to say, I had a pack of my old BCP and continued where I was in my pack with those and THREW THE FEMCON OUT!!! I have been on several pills due to irregular periods and such and I have NEVER felt the side effects I felt from Femcon! Now, I am back to my normal self.

I am a 33-year-old female. I was taking YAZ birth control. I woke up on a Friday morning with a bad cramping feeling in my left calf. By the end of the day, I was limping. By the middle of that night into Saturday morning, I woke up in such excruciating pain. I could not walk without help. I went to the ER. They ran an ultrasound and found nothing. They said I had a "pulled muscle" and sent me home. Went to my PCP on Monday. He said it was "phlebitis" and sent me home. He told me to return in 3 days. Did that. This whole time I told them my left foot was cold, the leg was discolored, and that I could not walk! Hello! I went back in 3 days, but this time he was finally alarmed when he couldn't find a pulse in my left foot (never checked that in the first place) and sent me back to the ER. The same jerk ran another ultrasound, and there was the clot. I've been on warfarin since February. In the beginning, I had TERRIBLE HEADACHES (which have since subsided). Now I am dealing with this: CONSTANT BODY PAINS (especially my back and ribs), OVERALL BODY SORENESS (kind of like when you have the flu), FATIGUE, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, BLOATING AND GAS (I wake up with a huge painful puffy stomach every morning), CRAMPS (like having a period without one), sometimes DIARRHEA, STOMACH ACHES. When I reported the initial body pains to both the specialist and my PCP upon my follow-up visits after being discharged, both looked at me like I was crazy or making it up or something. I came home in tears after seeing the specialist. I thought he would be the one to know about this stuff! Instead, he made me feel like an idiot or crazy person. I was totally insulted and cried on the way home. I am so annoyed and have lost all faith in doctors. They should all have to retake their Anatomy and Physiology courses so they can be reminded what their ears are for. Why don't they listen to their patients? This is insane! I am so disgusted with this whole mess. I just want to give up.

3 weeks after putting in the NR, I went to work explaining to my co-workers that I "had a hangover" and needed to eat some bread , as my 3 glasses of birthday wine from the night before really had done me in. After a baegal, and an energy drink, I noticed my eyes had this weird kinda haze, and my head over my ears was really starting to ache. The worse it got, I finally voiced to the girls how "weird" I felt, and with their own experience, we figured out it was a migraine. A migraine? I had never felt a headache like this before. this alone made me anxious, and made my heart palpitate (which I was already familiar with) I left work early because I was having difficulty concentrating, and i felt bad for having everyone work in the dark with me. I got home and did nothing but sleep ALL night into the next morning. When I woke, it felt like just breathing was making me more nauseated by the minute. I vommitted all morning, had no lunch and am still queezy 6 hours later. I was glad to find this site to answer the question of this being due to the ring or not. I took it out, with no plans to re-insert, and my stomach is still in knots. as a nurse my advise to other women is: reconignize the common/small symptoms, before the big/scary ones occur.

What started out as a simple visit to dentist became a nightmare. My BP was high l73/90...so I went to a doc to get something for the BP. I knew it had been creeping up. I should have been more vigilent and done my own research first. He prescribed l00 milligrams of the generic brand--metropolol. I questioned the dose, but he said it was safe, and I needed something to bring my blood pressure down right away.
By the third day I felt like I had a hangover when I woke up. I started feeling not quite right. Tiredness, depression, and headache. My BP got higher. On the 5th day my heart started racing, with a pulse in the l30's. I spent 6 hours in the ER. My pulse was in the 60's, but BP 210/110. They injected me with 5 mg of the stuff, and also gave me clonopine. My EKG had been normal at the doc visit. In the ER it showed abnormal with sinus tachycardia and First Degree AV nodal block. It returned to normal, and by BP dropped to 150/80 with the clonopine. My glucose was also high at 300. I could feel an immediate relief with the clonopine. Heart enzymes normal. ER doc denied that the Topol caused the racing heart. He said that's not a side effect..perhaps there was an underlying cause. He did say the episode could have been triggered by low oxygen to the heart. I think they all stick together----he's not going to say the first doc was an idiot.
They wanted to transfer me to the "big" hospital for cardiac workup. I refused, since I had an appt.with a cardiologist in a couple days, and the doc that prescribed his awful med. I didn't think my insurance company should fork out $50,000 for an adverse effect from a drug.
I had been doing heavy exercise the morning of the racing heart...it was after I sat down I noticed the increase in pulse rate. NO ONE gave me any warnings..not the doc, or the pharmacist. Both said this was a safe drug.
I cut the dosage in l/2 for two days, until I saw the cardiologist. He said ok to stay on the clonopine for now, and a diuretic. I feel much better, and BP has dropped to the l40's over 80 something...pulse near 80. I am going to do a stress test. Based on a heart scan, 3 arteries have 0 plaque, and two mild.
I read that this drug is not recommended as first choice for BP. In the UK they're weaning people off of it because it causes diabetes, and there's other better drugs out there. I did not wait to "ask my doctor" to take me off of it. I told him I am not taking it....I don't know how much longer he will be my doc. I don't think he should have started at l00 milligrams to begin with...and should have started out slowly at the least.
Caveat emptor (buyer beware) when it comes to this med...and do your homework, and don't be afraid to fire your doctor!

I was prescribed Sulfamethoxazole-TMP tablets for a severe UTI that I developed. I was given 10 tablets total--and instructed to take two per day. Within an hour of taking the first tablet, my UTI felt much better, however, the rest of me felt horrible! I got nausea, dizziness, extreme confusion and depression, and stiffness and pain in my neck and shoulders. I continued the medication anyway, b/c I never had sulfur or ANY medicinal allergies. I had difficulty sleeping the next few nights, I would wake up in the middle of the night for no reason. The soreness of my neck and shoulders then extended to my butt and thighs. I can't describe how uncomfortable this was. I was sitting at work literally writhing in pain from what I felt in my legs. (and I blamed it on my poor desk chair!!) This happened on day three of five. Also, while at work I had an "episode" if you will, where I became extremely confused and disoriented, and nearly had a panic attack. It felt like the world was crashing down on me!! It only lasted for 15 minutes or so, but I will not forget the way I felt. All the while, my UTI symptoms were getting better and better. I was completely unable to have a bowel movement...sorry for this information...but it will start to make you worry if you can't poo for 5 days!! Day four of five is what I like to call "The Enlightenment". I was getting in the shower, still dizzy as hell, and noticed that I was very itchy. I looked at my lower back and I was covered in red, itchy bumps. I was say they looked like small mosquito bites, all in a cluster of about 8 on either side of my lower back. I realized then and there that this medication really was ravaging my body like I had feared. I found this site and others online which confirmed that I wasn't crazy...just poisoned. Later that day I was resting on my couch and looked in the mirror and saw that my entire face was covered in a red rash. (and I got a horrific headache) The worst part is you don't really look outwardly sick or anything...you just feel terrible. Everyone I told was very nonchalant about it..."Oh just take some Benadryl". I've lost my faith in the FDA. I stopped this medication one pill shy of my last dose. I am terrified of the possible lasting effects and will never take this drug again!! PLEASE!! NEVER TAKE THIS MEDICATION!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

Daughter 19 was treated for depression with 10mg of Lexapro for 4 months and developed every horrible side effect- seritonin toxic reactiom- stomach, headaches, insomnia, lethargy, nightmares, appetite, etc.. Weaning off slowly with increased side effects. Finally clear after two weeks of hell and Mono. Slept 10 hours a day, could not swallow, depressed by recent events but managed to go abroad for 6 weeks a month later and seemed much better. Just before she left she began taking Loestrin24 FE and has been on it for 4 months. She has been having a variety of abdominal symptoms, headaches, insomnia, cramps, lethargy, weight gain, nausea.mood swings. Of course she is having stess about her furure and her horrific recent experiences and is very sensitive to medication. A half of a 5mg. Lunesta knocks her out. The only medication she is taking is Loestrin24 FE. Tonight I decided to look up the side effects of this pill that she seemed to tolerate well (no breakthrough bleeding, shorter periods) and could this be the cause of her problems? She is going to a doctor very soon but now is off our health care plan (magic-19 and she left college) so we cannot run from one specialist to another. Anyone have any advice or similar experience?

Without looking at he clock I know it's time for my next dose when I quit feeling like I have a hangover. Nausea, vomiting, extremely thirsty, dull headache that doesn't go away, loss of appetite. I've been taking Chantix for 5 days. Definitely don't have much urge to smoke but that may be the nausea. Haven't noticed any mood swings or depression. No strange dreams. Kinda wish I had that side effect! I've tried everything for the nausea. Taken pills before, after eating or without eating. I always take with water. No difference in nausea only the amount of vomiting. If the Chantix continues to keep me from smoking (I'm down to 10 cigs a day and only smoke partials vs. over a pack a day) it will have been worth it. I'm hoping the side effects will diminish as time goes on
